Opis:
This paper deals with the application of a variable structure observer developed for a class of nonlinear systems to solve the trajectory tracking problem for rigid robot manipulators. The analyzed approach to observer design proposes a simple design methodology for systems having completely observable linear parts and bounded nonlinearities and/or uncertainties. This observer is basically the conventional Luenberger observer with an additional switching term that is used to guarantee robustness against modeling errors and system uncertainties. To solve the tracking problem, we use a control law developed for robot manipulators in the full information case. The closed loop system is shown to be globally asymptotically stable based on Lyapunov arguments. Simulation results on a 3-DOF robot manipulator show the asymptotic convergence of the vectors of observation and tracking errors.

Opis:
This paper studies innovative application of sliding mode control (SMC) for a Hybrid Renewable Energy System (HRES) in grid-connected and autonomous modes of operation. The considered HRES includes a photovoltaic (PV), wind turbine (WT) based on a Permanent Magnet Synchronous Generator (PMSG). The PV generator is coupled to the common DC bus via a DC/DC converter. The latter is controlled by an MPPT algorithm based on the Adaptive Perturbation and Observation Algorithm Method (APOAM) to search the optimum working of this source. A SMC is utilized to manage the PV voltage to achieve the Maximum Power Point (MPP) by altering the obligation duty cycle. The battery interfaced by a bidirectional buck-boost DC/DC converter can be charged or discharged depending on the production situation. On the one hand, the wind turbine conversion chain is equipped with a PMSG and a rectifier controlled to regulate the operating point of the wind turbine to its optimum value. During a Stand-Alone Mode (SAM) operation, the Voltage Source Converter (VSC) was used for controlling the output voltage in terms of amplitude and frequency delivered to the AC load. However, in Grid-Connected Mode (GCM) operation, the VSC was adapted to control the electrical parameters of the grid. To better appreciate the advantages of the proposed SMC approach, we have proposed a series of comparative tests with the conventional PI control in the operating modes GC and SA and under different scenarios. The proposed control strategy has undeniable advantages in terms of control performance and very low total harmonic distortion THD value compared with the conventional PI control. Finally, It is concluded that the proposed approach improves the quality and provides a stable operation of the HRES.

The aim of this researches was to identify all functional blocks of tank gun stabiliser 2E28M (installed in tanks T-72 and PT-91 Twardy) in order to build mathematical model of the system. The tank gun stabiliser is an electro-hydraulic control system, which makes possible aiming at a target, tracking of a target and stabilise of a given gun and turret angular position. The two-axial stabiliser consists of two separate control systems to stabilise the gun in elevation and the turret (with gun) in azimuth. After detailed analysis of construction and work principles, functional schemes of investigated systems were build. Afterwards, static and dynamic characteristics of functional parts of the system were determined. Because of obtained characteristics and based on the knowledge about the system feedbacks, structural schemes and mathematical models of foregoing stabiliser were derived. The results of numerical computations were compared with the existing results of experimental tests carried-out on a real plant. The results of experimental and model simulation investigations showed that the mathematical model and its numerical implementation were correctly developed.

In a mining ship, the tracking control system is one of its most significant systems. Its power output depends on weather parameters in the mining area and on dimensions of the ship. The tracking control system power is very high, thus the dimensions of the ship are considerably influenced by the weight and dimensions of the ship power plant. The article presents a spatial conception of a mining ship and the determined maximum power demand of the tracking control system. This article is a continuation of the problem described in [2].

W pracy przedstawiono analizę możliwości sterowania innowacyjną głowicą skanująco-śledzącą wchodzącą w skład pocisków rakietowcy i przeznaczoną do wykrywania oraz śledzenia wymienionych obiektów. Niektóre wyniki badań symulacji numerycznych przedstawiono w postaci graficznej.
On the modern battlefield, there is a need to continually increase combat capabilities, including speed, target detection, target identification and fire-fighting performance of short-range artillery-rocket sets. A big challenge is the ability to effectively fire through such sets of conditions of interference, not only from the direction of targeted air strike, but also from the moving platform on which the artillery-rocket set with self-guided rocket missiles is located. The paper presents the analysis of the possibilities of controlling an innovative scanning and tracking IR seeker that is a part of missile launchers and is designed to detect and track the above-mentioned objects. Some results of numerical simulation tests are presented in a graphical form.

Opis:
The goal of this paper was to determine necessary dynamical conditions for the object tracking task. Developing these conditions required examining dynamical relationships between the UAV, camera head, disturbances and tracked object. This analysis was conducted in order to assess whether a given UAV-camera head set was suitable for a given object tracking task. The study assumed that the UAV was equipped with a flight trajectory control system. We discussed the methods of the dynamical properties description and finding a range of application for a particular set “UAV-camera head”. For each dynamical element of the examined system, we proposed a method of computing the parameters of the simulation model which corresponded to the behaviour of the real elements. In order to describe the range of the applications for the UAV-camera head set, we defined the space Ω – all combinations of the parameters which characterized the dynamics of the disturbance and object. Moreover, this study developed the method of selecting the subspace Ωs which described acceptable parameters of the object’s and disturbance’s dynamics. This paper presented the example of proper object tracking in the case of meeting the dynamical conditions and the example of losing the object in the opposite case.

Opis:
The paper reports the design and tests of the planar autopilot navigation system in the three-degree-of-freedom (3-DOF) plane (surge, sway and yaw) for a ship. The aim of the tests was to check the improved maneuverability of the ship in open waters using the improved nonlinear control algorithm, developed based on the sliding mode control theory for the ship-trajectory tracking problem of under-actuated ships with static constraints, actuator saturation, and parametric uncertainties. With the integration of the simple increment feedback control law, the dynamic control strategy was developed to fulfill the under-actuated tracking and stabilization objectives. In addition, the LOS (line of sight) guidance system was applied to control the motion path, whereas the sliding mode controller was used to emulate the rudder angle and propeller rotational speed control. Firstly, simulation tests were performed to verify the validity of the basic model and the tracking control algorithm. Subsequently, full scale maneuverability tests were done with a novel container ship, equipped with trajectory tracking control and sliding mode controller algorithm, to check the dynamic stability performance of the ship. The results of the theoretical and numerical simulation on a training ship verify the invariability and excellent robustness of the proposed controller, which: effectively eliminates system chattering, solves the problem of lateral drift of the ship, and maintains the following of the trajectory while simultaneously achieving global stability and robustness.

Opis:
When it comes to reducing emissions caused by the generation of electricity, among different renewable energy sources, the solar energy gains prominence, due to its geographical availability, simplicity of implementation, and absence of physical moving parts. However, the performance of photovoltaic systems is dependent on environmental conditions. Depending on temperature and solar irradiation, the photovoltaic (PV) system has an operating point where maximum power can be generated. The techniques that are implemented to find this operating point are the so-called maximum power point tracking (MPPT) algorithms. Since weather conditions are variable in nature, the output voltage of the PV system needs to be regulated to remain equal to the reference. Most of the existing studies focus either on MPPT or on voltage regulation of the PV system. In this paper, the two-stage PV system is implemented so that both MPPT and voltage regulation are achieved simultaneously. Additionally, an improved version of the perturb and observe (P&O) algorithm based on artificial potential fields (APF), called APF-P&O, is presented. According to the results of the simulations carried out in MATLAB/Simulink software, the APF-P&O method is more efficient than the conventional method.

Opis:
The wind energy conversion systems (WECS) suffer from an intermittent nature of source (wind) and the resulting disparity between power generation and electricity demand. Thus, WECS are required to be operated at maximum power point (MPP). This research paper addresses a sophisticated MPP tracking (MPPT) strategy to ensure optimum (maximum) power out of the WECS despite environmental (wind) variations. This study considers a WECS (fixed pitch, 3KW, variable speed) coupled with a permanent magnet synchronous generator (PMSG) and proposes three sliding mode control (SMC) based MPPT schemes, a conventional first order SMC (FOSMC), an integral back-stepping-based SMC (IBSMC) and a super-twisting reachability-based SMC, for maximizing the power output. However, the efficacy of MPPT/control schemes rely on availability of system parameters especially, uncertain/nonlinear dynamics and aerodynamic terms, which are not commonly accessible in practice. As a remedy, an off-line artificial function-fitting neural network (ANN) based on Levenberg-Marquardt algorithm is employed to enhance the performance and robustness of MPPT/control scheme by effectively imitating the uncertain/nonlinear drift terms in the control input pathways. Furthermore, the speed and missing derivative of a generator shaft are determined using a high-gain observer (HGO). Finally, a comparison is made among the stated strategies subjected to stochastic and deterministic wind speed profiles. Extensive MATLAB/Simulink simulations assess the effectiveness of the suggested approaches.

The subject of discussion is a tank gun stabiliser (in azimuth and elevation). For the investigation of the considered control system one applied a method of computer simulations. The mathematical model and its numerical implementation were experimentally verified. The results of experimental and model simulation investigations showed that the mathematical model and its numerical implementation were worked-out correctly. Using the verified mathematical model of the system, the simulation investigations of the influence of regulation potentiometers settlings on stabilisation exactness and transient processes quality were carried-out. The possibilities of improving performance characteristics of the stabiliser via altering of feedback’s gain coefficients as well as the influence of disturbing inputs amplitude and frequency (propagated from the hull on the gun and turret) on stabilisation exactness of a given position were also analysed. The presented technique is quite general and may be applied to any type of vehicle to study dynamic effects of several rigid bodies, which move relative to each other (when displacements are small) and are connected by constraint equations.
