Aim. This study aims to analyse the role of media in creating awareness on child sexual abuse and Good Touch Bad Touch among children. The research also aims to study the students’ awareness level of Child Sexual Abuse which includes the Good Touch Bad Touch. Method. The survey research method was used to collect data, through a well-structured questionnaire from 100 respondents of a school from a city of Punjab, constituting 20 respondents from each class, selected through convenient sampling. Result. The findings reveal that the media failed to create awareness on child sexual abuse among children. 90% of the respondents were not aware of any child sexual abuse or child helpline number. Conclusion. Even though, some initiatives were taken by various media tools to raise the child safety issue in the society, but those are not enough. There is a need to develop and run more specific programs regularly to raise awareness throughout society on child sexual abuse.

The experiment is aimed at investigating the factors that may modulate the costs of cross-modal visuo-haptic recognition of scenes. Participants learned a scene either visually or by touch (in the latter case they were blindfolded); then, following a delay, they identified the scene using the same or changed modality. The level of difficulty was adjusted by introducing two or three changes in the placement of scene elements at the recognition stage. It has been demonstrated that the costs of modality change, related to both decreased accuracy of recognition and extended time for making decision, occur only in a situation when a significant burden is imposed on working memory, i.e., with tactile learning of a scene and a high level of difficulty of the recognition task.

Numerous studies have shown that people are more likely to fulfill requests made by a stranger when he or she touches their arm or forearm slightly while asking. In Poland, however, where male homophobia is widespread, interpersonal touch decreases compliance when man touches another man. It has also been demonstrated in previous studies that highly homophobic male participants are especially unwilling to fulfill requests while touched. In this paper the hypothesis that also confederates’ homophobia create an additional factor inhibiting compliance with request formulated by men touching other men was tested in two experiments. No relations, however, was found between confederates’ level of homophobia and participants’ reaction.

Opis:
Putting a Y-capacitor between the primary ground and secondary ground is a common practice in industry to reduce EMI; but, this capacitor increases touch current. A method is discussed to measure the touch current at circuit design level. An optimum value of Y-capacitor is predicted without exceeding touch current limit. Experimental results of touch current measurements and EMI measurements are analyzed.

Our interaction with digital resources is becoming increasingly based on touch, gestures, and now also eye movement. Many everyday consumer electronics products already include touch-based interfaces, from e-book readers to tablets, and from the last personal computers to the GPS system in your car. What implications do these new forms of interaction offer for language learning and teaching? In this short article, I will first consider some of the most recent technological developments for their pedagogic potential, and in particular for their support for embodied and extended cognition. Next, I will offer some suggestions for researching their impact on learning and teaching, as well as ways in which teachers and materials developers can capitalise on these advances in technology to support more interactive and dynamic forms of learning.

Studies carried out in this article are part of a larger project aimed to explore the vocabulary that describe world by the sense of touch and also continuing studies from another article: “Czy można odczuwać temperaturę za pomocą dotyku? Analiza przymiotników określających wysokość temperatury w języku polskim”, which will soon be published in the fifth volume of „Bogactwo polszczyzny w świetle jej historii”. Adjectives, explored in this article, are being divided into two categories, describing the nature of the surface and its structure. There were selected more than 50 words from “Inny słownik języka polskiego” relating to the sense of touch. Four of them, which were located in the center of the categories, were detailed analyzed, these are adjectives: gładki, szorstki, miękki, twardy. The analysis showed that the meaning of these words is very stable, which is one of the characteristics of vocabulary relating to the sense of touch. All of these words are also characterized by: a reference to human behavior, manner of speaking and its synesthetic transfer impressions received by the sense of touch to hearing.
Badania przeprowadzone do niniejszego artykułu są częścią większego projektu, mającego zbadać słownictwo opisujące poznanie świata przez zmysł dotyku, a jednocześnie kontynuacją tematu poruszonego w tekście: „Czy można odczuwać temperaturę za pomocą dotyku? Analiza przymiotników określających wysokość temperatury w języku polskim”, który zostanie wkrótce opublikowany w piątym tomie „Bogactwa polszczyzny w świetle jej historii”. Przymiotniki, zbadane w niniejszym artykule, zostały podzielone na dwie kategorie, opisujące charakter powierzchni i jej strukturę. Z „Innego słownika języka polskiego” wyłonionych zostało ponad 50 wyrazów odnoszących się do poznania przez zmysł dotyku. Szczegółowej analizie zostały poddane 4 leksemy, które znajdują się w centrum wyłonionych kategorii, są to przymiotniki: gładki, szorstki, miękki, twardy. Analiza wykazała, że znaczenie wspomnianych wyrazów jest bardzo stabilne, co jest jedną z cech charakterystycznych słownictwa odnoszącego się do poznania bezpośredniego przez zmysł dotyku. Wszystkie omówione wyrazy charakteryzują się także: odniesieniem do zachowań człowieka, sposobu jego wysławiania się oraz synestezyjnym przeniesieniem wrażeń odbieranych przez zmysł dotyku na słuch.

This article is devoted to the analysis and interpretation of the sense of touch in the early novel The Virtuous by Eliza Orzeszkowa. Touch is used in emotional or intentional tones, and in its character is the force of interaction: positive or negative. In the novel The Virtuous, touch in a physiognomical context was particularly important, which added diagnostic information about the nature of the literary hero. Due to the satirical content of the work, there was definitely more badness in tangibility that distinguished the small-town elite. Among the many categories of touch are “touch for show”, hidden touch, honourable touch, metaphorically-meta-physical touch, and empathic touch.

Spatial characteristic of triggering radius of the damaged probe for the CNC machine tools has been presented. In such case a clear distortion of the probe performance characteristic and a significant increase in probe errors have been observed. Then, to such a damaged probe, a variable speed correction method of systematic errors was used. By setting proper measurement speeds, varying for different measurement directions, errors of the probe can be significantly reduced.

The aim of this paper is to assess the evidence on Cyrenaic solipsism and show how and why some views endorsed by the Cyrenaics appear to be committing them to solipsism. After evaluating the fascinating case for Cyrenaic solipsism, the paper shall deal with an (often) underestimated argument on language attributed to the Cyrenaics, whose logic – if I reconstruct it well – implies that after all the Cyrenaics cannot have endorsed a radical solipsism. Yet, by drawing an illuminating parallel with Wittgenstein’s argument on private language and inner sensations, a case is to be made for the Cyrenaics to have subscribed to a sort of ‘residual solipsism’, which in turn helps us to understand the notion of Cyrenaic privacy at a fuller extent.

The purpose of the study was to investigate the associations between comfort in the physical proximity of others and interpersonal trauma and body ego. Comfort in the physical proximity of others was measured using a self-report method, as well as by means of a procedure where the experimenter initiated interpersonal touch. The results show that comfort in the physical proximity of others (based on self-report) was associated with four types of trauma (emotional, physical or sexual abuse and emotional neglect) as well as with all aspects of dysfunctional body ego (e.g. disrupted perception, problems with interpreting and regulating physical states). Defying expectations, the types of trauma studied did not differentiate individuals experiencing comfort from those experiencing discomfort, in an experimental setting of being touched. As predicted, both groups differed in all aspects of body ego. Moreover body ego proved to be a mediator between trauma and comfort in the physical proximity of others (self-report measure).

Celem niniejszego artykułu jest interpretacja postaci starszej kobiety ukazanej na japońskich przedstawieniach parinirwany przy stopach Buddy (ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem wersji z Myōhō-ji oraz jej kontynuacji). Jak wykazał przegląd chińskich przekładów sutr, za potencjalne źródło inspiracji posłużyło tu piśmiennictwo hinajany, z którego japońska tradycja buddyjska przejęła przekonanie o kalających właściwościach kobiecego dotyku. Następnie, w poszukiwaniu odpowiedzi na pytanie, jakie treści wnosi obecność staruszki na graficznych przedstawieniach parinirwany, posłużono się wybraną literaturą buddyjską podejmującą ten motyw. W toku analizy wykazano, że jej rola polegała na sprowokowaniu dyskusji pomiędzy Mahākāśyapą a Ānandą o miejscu kobiet w gronie uczniów Buddy – świeckich, na przykładzie jej samej, oraz duchownych, na przykładzie pierwszej mniszki Gautami.
This study delves into the portrayal of the female figure depicted at the feet of the Buddha in Japanese parinirvana images, with a specific focus on the Myōhō-ji rendition and its subsequent resumptions. Through an examination of Chinese translations of pertinent sutras, the research explores the potential influence of hinayana texts as a source for this motif, which conveys the notion that impurity can be transmitted through a woman’s touch. To elucidate a more profound comprehension of the significance attributed to the presence of an elderly woman in visual depictions of parinirvana, an array of literary sources were scrutinized. The findings indicate that her inclusion likely served as a catalyst for a discourse between Mahākāśyapa and Ānanda concerning the position of women within the Buddha’s assembly of disciples, encompassing their roles as lay devotees, epitomized by the elderly woman, and as ordained nuns, symbolized by Gautami.

The main goals of the paper are 1) to investigate differences and similarities in conceptual mappings based on the concept of ‘touch’ in two typologically different and genetically unrelated languages by analyzing verbs referring to touch in Croatian and Turkish 2) to see to what extent the formation of tactile verbs differs with respect to lexicalization patterns in the two languages.

The article shows how the 'touch' concept is presented in culture and communication. This phenomenon has not been the subject of lingual studies yet, however it has been only a few articles about this. The sense of touch plays an important role in contemporary world. It comes to be the most important way to build doctor-patient relation. The purpose of this text is to show the material extracted from old medical guides (ninetieth/twentieth centuries) which presents ‘tactile’ communication between doctor and patient, techniques and ways of cure, describes the doctor-patient contact, and analysis of this material. Cognitive classification of speech acts was helpful in to show, which directive acts are present in old medical guides (e.g. prohibitions, commands, manual procedure). First of all there are obliging acts in the pragmalingual analysis. It is worth noting that in the material show directive acts too. These acts cause pressure to recipient and have to get to do something by him (e.g. a lot of prohibitions, commands and also manual procedure of touch of the patient).

Positive attitudes to old age and successful ageing are the trends in contemporary gerontology. Promotion of an active period of old age, the maintenance of cognitive and physical abilities in seniors as well as active participation in various activities and social roles are challenges and tasks for geronto-prophylaxis and psychosocial rehabilitation. The process of ageing, apart from its effect on the body systems and functions has also a marked effect on the perception of sensory stimuli. Sensitivity to touch decreases with age. The aim of the presented study was to show the effect of a tailored program of sensorimotor activation in seniors with different fitness levels on changes in touch sensation in the area of the arms. The main cognitive goal of the presented research project was an assessment of sensory stimuli perception on the completion of the biopsychosocial rehabilitation program using an esthesiometer. The sample included 51 seniors from two care units, aged 77.52 ± 9.51 years. The assessment of superficial sensitivity perception involved the two-point discrimination approach using a wheel esthesiometer (Touch Test-Two Point Discriminator). The study was conducted immediately before and after the application of the rehabilitation program. A significant improvement in sensory perception was noted on the finger bulbs of both hands within the studied senior population, regardless of the levels of psychophysical fitness and the social support center where they stayed. The following average values, corresponding to the changes in both hands, were obtained from: 6.6mm to 4.45 in the seniors from the Social Care Unit and from 6.35 to 4.2 in the seniors from the Senior Support (p<0.05). According to the norms for touch sensation (2-point discrimination) for the hand, before the start the level of sensation was satisfactory, below the norm limit, while after rehabilitation this level turned out to be good. The proposed program of biopsychosocial rehabilitation (activation of seniors undergoing hand treatment) fulfilled the settled cognitive and practical goals and was welcomed with great satisfaction and engagement by the beneficiaries In the case of senior rehabilitation the area of geronto-prophylaxis is oriented to the stimulation and improvement of sensory stimuli perception in the hands, using various manual forms of movement.

Wstęp: istnieje pięć podstawowych rodzajów czucia: wibracji, ułożenia, delikatnego dotyku, bólu oraz temperatury. literatura podaje, że do badania delikatnego czucia można wykorzystać wacik lub palec. ważne, aby dawkowany przez terapeutę bodziec był powtarzalny. Cel pracy: celem pracy był pomiar czucia delikatnego dotyku u osób zdrowych na 21 autorsko wybranych punktach. Materiał i metody: zbadano 28 studentów śUm w Katowicach 21 kobiet i 7 mężczyzn. wiek badanych x=21,2±1,8. na obu rękach i przedramionach badanych zaznaczono 21 punktów według autorskiego algorytmu. Badacz wskazywał losowy wybrany punkt. celem badanego było wskazanie miejsca, w którym poczuł dotyk. jeśli badany błędnie określił lokalizacje punktu, taśmą centymetrową odmierzano odległość. wyniki umieszczono w bazie danych i poddano analizie statystycznej w programie Statistica 8. Wyniki: Różnice na poziomie istotności statystycznej zaobserwowano porównując średnie wyniki odchyleń punktu 13 znajdującego się w środkowej części przedramienia po stronie bocznej w obu przedramionach. Wnioski: zaobserwowane zmiany mogą świadczyć o bardziej precyzyjnym czuciu delikatnego dotyku w środkowej części strony bocznej przedramienia.
Introduction: there are fve basic types of sensation: vibration, poses, gentle touch, pain and temperature. the literature says that to study gentle sensation can be used cotton ball or fnger. it is important that the therapist dosed stimulus was reproducible. Aim of sthe study: Aim of this study was to measure the gentle touch sensation in healthy subjects for 21 points developed by researchers. Material and methods: examined 28 students Silesian medical University in Katowice 21 women and 7 men. the age of respondents x = 21,1±1,8. On both hands and forearms of respondents indicated 21 points developed by the researchers. the researcher pointed randomly selected point. the purpose of the respondents was to identify the place where they felt the touch. if examined incorrectly described the location of the point, researcher measured a diference with centimeter tape. the results were put in database and statistically analyzed in Statistica 8. Results: Diferences in the level of statistical signifcance was observed when comparing the mean scores of variations point 13 is located in the middle of the forearm to the side of both forearms. Conclusions: Observed changes may indicate a more precise feeling the gentle touch in the middle of the lateral side of the forearm.
