    Let X be any topological space, and let C(X) be the algebra of all continuous complex-valued functions on X. We prove a conjecture of Yood (1994) to the effect that if there exists an unbounded element of C(X) then C(X) cannot be made into a normed algebra.

    Extending previous results of H. Salas we obtain a characterisation of hypercyclic weighted shifts on an arbitrary F-sequence space in which the canonical unit vectors $(e_n)$ form a Schauder basis. If the basis is unconditional we give a characterisation of those hypercyclic weighted shifts that are even chaotic.

    We exhibit examples of countable injective inductive limits E of Banach spaces with compact linking maps (i.e. (DFS)-spaces) such that $E ⊗_{ε} X$ is not an inductive limit of normed spaces for some Banach space X. This solves in the negative open questions of Bierstedt, Meise and Hollstein. As a consequence we obtain Fréchet-Schwartz spaces F and Banach spaces X such that the problem of topologies of Grothendieck has a negative answer for $F ⨶_π X$. This solves in the negative a question of Taskinen. We also give examples of Fréchet-Schwartz spaces and (DFS)-spaces without the compact approximation property and with the compact approximation property but without the approximation property.

    In 2015, tense n × m-valued Lukasiewicz–Moisil algebras (or tense LMn×m-algebras) were introduced by A. V. Figallo and G. Pelaitay as an generalization of tense n-valued Łukasiewicz–Moisil algebras. In this paper we continue the study of tense LMn×m-algebras. More precisely, we determine a Priestley-style duality for these algebras. This duality enables us not only to describe the tense LMn×m-congruences on a tense LMn×m-algebra, but also to characterize the simple and subdirectly irreducible tense LMn×m-algebras.

    We investigate conditions under which the projective and the injective topologies coincide on the tensor product of two Köthe echelon or coechelon spaces. A major tool in the proof is the characterization of the επ-continuity of the tensor product of two diagonal operators from $l_p$ to $l_q$. Several sharp forms of this result are also included.

    Opis:
    For a map \(\rho\) of \(\mathbb{N}\) into itself, consider the induced transformation \(\sum_{n} x_n \mapsto \sum_{n} x_{\rho_(n)}\) of series in a topological vector space. Then such properties of this transformation as sending convergent series to convergent series, or convergent series to bounded series, or bounded series to bounded series (and a few more) are mutually equivalent. Moreover, they are equivalent to an intrinsic property of ρ which reduces to those found by Agnew and Pleasants (in the case of permutations) and Wituła (in the general case) as necessary and sufficient conditions for the above transformation to preserve convergence of scalar series. In the paper, the scalar case is treated first using simple Banach space methods, and then the result is easily extended to the general setting.
