The aim of the article is to answer the following research question: Through what activities does the Stocznia Foundation ensure involvement of and support to children and youth? The analysis was performed on the basis of theoretical and empirical knowledge. Areas were indicated in which the support of the young generation by NGOs was most often noted as part of activities for local communities. In this aspect, types of assistance were listed, such as: shaping the attitudes of youth, learning soft skills in relations with other people in the decision-making process, social directions of development of children and youth, and assistance in gaining visibility of the realized projects. Apart from that, the positions of the authors of the Equal Opportunities project are based on 20 years of work. The Foundation focuses its activities on the provision of services in the areas that favor building a conscious and safe society through the active involvement of the young ones in efforts for the common good.

Opis:
The right to the city is a solution that can be considered in terms of third-generation human rights. The right to the city also serves as a tool for the effective fulfilment and respect of human rights agreed at the international level as well as the Sustainable Development Goals expressed in the 2030 Agenda. This is undoubtedly a new paradigm for urban development, which provides an alternative framework for rethinking cities and urbanisation. It aims to address the main challenges in cities and human settlements. The purpose of the article is to present an understanding of the right to the city by the analysis of its structure and the answer to the question of whether it is in fact a third-generation human right.
Prawo do miasta jest koncepcją, którą można rozpatrywać w kontekście praw człowieka trzeciej generacji. Prawo do miasta służy również jako narzędzie skutecznego wypełniania i poszanowania praw człowieka istniejących na poziomie międzynarodowym oraz realizacji Celów Zrównoważonego Rozwoju wyrażonych w Agendzie 2030. Jest to niewątpliwie nowy paradygmat rozwoju miast, który zapewnia alternatywne ramy dla ponownego przemyślenia pojęcia miasta i urbanizacji. Jego celem jest sprostanie głównym wyzwaniom, z jakimi stykają się miasta. Celem artykułu jest przedstawienie rozumienia prawa do miasta poprzez analizę jego struktury i odpowiedź na pytanie, czy w istocie jest to prawo trzeciej generacji.

Third-generation cephalosporins are a class of b-lactam antibiotics that are often used for the treatment of human infections caused by Gram-negative and gram-positive bacteria. This study aimed to detect the pattern of bacterial antibiotic sensitivity to the third generation of cephalosporins that assist doctors with appropriate empirical therapy. For study purposes, various bacteria were isolated clinically from urine, high vaginal swab (cervical swab), ear and wound samples during the period from November 2019 to March 2020 at Al-Shomali general hospital, Babil, Iraq and a private laboratory in Babil city. A total of 154 patients were involved in this study, samples were processed at the hospital laboratory during this period, diagnosis and antibiotic sensitivity test having been done by routine bacteriological diagnosis, as well as by VITEK 2 system. Three common third-generation cephalosporins; cefotaxime, Cefotazidime, and ceftriaxone were evaluated. Out of these 154 samples, 46 (30%) have bacterial growth. Specimens with bacterial growth were taken from urine, cervical swab, ear discharge and wound infection, the counts being 24, 8, 8, and 6 respectively. All 46 isolated bacteria were 100% resistant to cefotaxime and Cefotazidime, while 36 (78%) were resistant to ceftriaxone. The prevalence of bacterial isolation in different specimens showed a high predominance of Enterococcus spp 16 (35%) from the total samples. The current study revealed that the increasing burden of bacterial resistance to third-generation cephalosporins, especially to cefotaxime and Cefotazidime, may due to misuse and inappropriate high administration of these drugs. This should be countered by early detection of development third-generation resistance in patients by restricted clinical monitoring and through judicious use of antibiotics. Of note, the highest rate of resistance was observed in age groups less than 15 years old.

The article presents the findings of research carried out in Palestine with the use of the tools of visual anthropology. The analysis demonstrates the potential of the application of the concepts of “the third generation” and “post-memory” to describe the experience of young Palestinian women. The argument focuses upon the strategies resorted to by women who, in the course of the study, agreed to present the key values that they profess, and consented to share them publicly in the form of a photo-interview. Their narratives are presented in the context of the reinterpretation of the events of the Nakba.
Artykuł przedstawia wyniki badań wykonanych z użyciem antropologii wizualnej w Palestynie. Analiza prezentuje możliwość wykorzystania kategorii trzeciego pokolenia oraz post-pamięci do doświadczeń młodych kobiet palestyńskich. Ze względu na ograniczone ramy artykułu przedstawione są strategie kobiet, które zaprezentowały w czasie badań swoje kluczowe wartości i zgodziły się na ten temat opowiedzieć za pomocą fotowywiadu. Ich narracje są odnoszone do reinterpretacji wydarzenia Nakby.

The study is devoted to analysing the relationships between the effectiveness of judicial control exercised by administrative courts and the specific character of administrative procedures of third generation. The considerations lead to the conclusion that the special features and the normative solutions of the positive law entail limitations on the intensity of the judicial review of legality of the contested administrative acts or actions. In such a situation, the judicial control may be confined to the formal sphere of legality. Consequently, the degree of effectiveness of the judicial impact on the administrative activity of prospective character may be substantially reduced.

This article draws on four free-form interviews with elements of narration, which I conducted with representatives of the “third generation” of people of Jewish origin living in Łódź. In my text, I refer to the knowledge (and lack of knowledge) of the surveyed women as to their roots. I also distinguish two family models they have created. I place Jewish culture and religion in the context of the women’s everyday experiences.
Prezentowany artykuł ma charakter badawczy. Powstał na podstawie czterech swobodnych wywiadów z elementami narracji, które przeprowadziłem z przedstawicielami „trzeciej generacji” osób pochodzenia żydowskiego mieszkających w Łodzi. W moim tekście nawiązuję do wiedzy (i braku wiedzy) badanych kobiet na temat ich korzeni. Rozróżniam też dwa stworzone modele rodzinne. Co więcej, umieszczam żydowską kulturę i religię w kontekście ich codziennych doświadczeń.

The aim of the article is to present and analyse texts whose authors – members of the Israeli Third Generation – refer in various ways to the phenomenon of pilgrimages to the memorial sites, attended by high school students for more than three decades. This phenomenon involves such questions as: the role of the Shoah in the Israeli collective narrative, the level of its institutional commemoration, relations between the act of memorialising the Holocaust and military activities, and lasting confidence in the experience of pilgrimage to Poland as part of the process of the Israeli youth’s coming of age. The texts included in these reflections are used to portray the multiplicity of possible attitudes adopted by authors towards such methods of commemorating the Shoah – from unconditional acceptance, through the belief in their inevitability, to outright criticism.
Celem artykułu jest zaprezentowanie i analiza tekstów, których twórcy – przedstawiciele izraelskiego trzeciego pokolenia – na różne sposoby odwołują się do zjawiska pielgrzymek do miejsc pamięci, odbywanych przez młodzież licealną od przeszło trzech dekad. Zjawisko to skupia w sobie kwestie takie jak: rola Zagłady w izraelskiej narracji zbiorowej, stopień jej instytucjonalnego upamiętniania, częste związki między upamiętnianiem Szoa a wątkami militarnymi i trwałym wpisaniem doświadczenia pielgrzymki do Polski w proces dojrzewania izraelskiej młodzieży. Teksty włączone do rozważań mają za zadanie unaocznić wielość możliwych postaw przyjmowanych przez twórców wobec takich metod upamiętniania Szoa – od bezwarunkowej ich akceptacji, przez przekonanie o ich nieuchronności, aż po zdecydowaną krytykę.

Epilepsy is a chronic neurologic disorder that affects about 0.7% of the population. Patients with epilepsy suffer from recurrent seizures, which can be focal or generalized in nature. The third-generation of anticonvulsant drugs includes lacosamide, rufinamide, vigabatrin, retigabine, perampanel, eslicarbazepine acetate, brivaracetam and stiripentol. Other compounds, such as ganaxolone, cannabidiol, selurampanel, and everolimus among others, with different mechanisms of action are currently in clinical development. Furthermore, numerous compounds or classes of compounds are investigated in preclinical studies. Nevertheless, about 30% of epilepsy patients suffer from uncontrolled seizures despite pharmacotherapy, including the third-generation of anticonvulsant drugs. Additionally, the occurrence of adverse drug effects is responsible for poor compliance as well as discontinuation of the therapy, in up to 25% of patients before having reached the effective dose amount. Neuropsychiatric undesirable effects, include depression, aggression, irritable mood, anxiety, mood instability, paranoid ideation, delusions, hallucinations. Moreover, suicidal ideation and behaviour have been reported in patients treated with anticonvulsant drugs.

The paper aims at recognizing and describing the ways of deconstructing the topos of Poland as a Jewish necropolis, a process that in the last decade appears more and more often in the works of Israeli authors of the third generation after the Shoah. The generation concept – as I argue – can serve here as a useful tool for understanding the shift which occurred in the specific national context of Israeli Holocaust discourse and strongly influenced the image of Poland in Israeli literature and culture. Poland depicted as a Jewish necropolis has become one of the central motifs present in Israeli literary as well as the artistic canon of Shoah representations. As the central space where the Shoah occurred, Poland was obviously perceived as a land marked by death and formed exclusively by the experience of the Holocaust. However, in the aftermath of two major shifts that have occurred in the last decades: a meaningful change in the Israeli Holocaust discourse and the new reality of Poland after 1989, and also as a consequence of the growing time distance separating yet another generation from the events themselves, numerous authors born in Israel mostly in the 1970s and in the 1980s began approaching the above-mentioned motif critically. This tendency, one of the few typical for the third generation, is demonstrated either through the motif ’s deconstruction and subversive usage or, more radically, by employing the genre of alternate history and changing the place’s identity (e.g. Tel Aviv by Yair Chasdiel). The topos of Poland as a necropolis has therefore been turned into a part – or even a starting point – of the reflection on collective memory patterns (e.g. Kompot. The Polish-Israeli Comic Book), stereotypes (e.g. Bat Yam by Yael Ronen), and on the authors’ own roots and identity (e.g. The Property by Rutu Modan). By analyzing the abovementioned texts, I will explore the process of constant interaction occurring between collective and the individual memory, between the Israeli national perspective and Polish landscapes, between an author and space and, finally – between the category of the third generation and its representatives themselves.

The object of the article is the novel Himmelskörper written by Tanja Dückers, the representative of the third post-war generation. The discourse in the family communication and memory space, the relation to family members from the experience generation, as well as the trips in the home towns of the forefathers in the former eastern territories of Germany turn out as important fields of the search for the post-war generation’s identity. The question is asked how memories of the Second World War and the post-war period are constructed in the family context, how the representatives of  the third generation deal with the family’s past. In addition, the role of the return to the home towns of the grandparents and parents for the descendants and whether these journeys lead to the constitution of the feeling of self is analysed.

In thermos fluid dynamics, free convection flows external to different geometries, such as cylinders, ellipses, spheres, curved walls, wavy plates, cones, etc., play major role in various industrial and process engineering systems. The thermal buoyancy force associated with natural convection flows can play a critical role in determining skin friction and heat transfer rates at the boundary. In thermal engineering, natural convection flows from cylindrical bodies has gained exceptional interest. In this article, we mathematically evaluate an entropy analysis of magnetohydrodynamic third-grade convection flows from permeable cylinder considering velocity and thermal slip effects. The resulting non-linear coupled partial differential conservation equations with associated boundary conditions are solved with an efficient unconditionally stable implicit finite difference Keller-Box technique. The impacts of momentum and heat transport coefficients, entropy generation and Bejan number are computed for several values of non-dimensional parameters arising in the flow equations. Streamlines are plotted to analyze the heat transport process in a two-dimensional domain. Furthermore, the deviations of the flow variables are compared with those computed for a Newtonian fluid and this has important implications in industrial thermal material processing operations, aviation technology, different enterprises, energy systems and thermal enhancement of industrial flow processes.

1. Cel Celem artykułu jest potwierdzenie zasadności wyodrębnienia praw człowieka trzeciej generacji oraz wskazanie na potrzebę działań na gruncie międzynarodowym w celu zapewnienia tych praw o charakterze kolektywnym. Poprzez analizę wybranych praw człowieka trzeciej generacji Autor zwraca uwagę na to, że część praw trzeciej generacji doznaje uszczerbku w praktyce i stąd nieodzowne są zabiegi o charakterze międzynarodowym, które mają na celu wzmocnienie ochrony tych praw. 2. Wprowadzenie Prawa człowieka trzeciej generacji zostały wyodrębnione w latach 70. XX wieku przez francuskiego naukowca czeskiego pochodzenia Karela Vašaka. Charakteryzują się tym, że posiadają charakter kolektywny i w przeciwieństwie do praw pierwszej i drugiej generacji (praw wolnościowych i równościowych) zabezpieczają całe zbiorowości ludzkie. Ochrona praw człowieka trzeciej generacji ma sens wtedy, gdy nadrzędnym celem zabezpieczającym nie jest jednostka, ale grupa ludzi. Stąd też do najistotniejszych praw człowieka trzeciej generacji zalicza się w szczególności prawo do pokoju, demokratycznego państwa prawa, samostanowienia narodów, bezpieczeństwa, czystego środowiska, rozwoju, pomocy humanitarnej, wspólnego dziedzictwa ludzkości. Ważna jest też świadomość, że realizacja praw człowieka pierwszej i drugiej generacji (wolności i równości) związana jest z dostatecznym zagwarantowaniem praw człowieka trzeciej generacji. Niestety prawa człowieka trzeciej generacji bywają współcześnie łamane (poprzez liczne wojny, niemożność stanowienia o sobie przez niektóre narody, brak szerokich międzynarodowych działań na rzecz ochrony środowiska i pielęgnowania wspólnego dziedzictwa ludzkości). Stąd też ważne jest uświadamianie i podejmowanie działań na rzecz ochrony praw człowieka trzeciej generacji. 3. Metodologia Autor wyodrębnia i opisuje prawa człowieka trzeciej generacji, wykorzystując przede wszystkim metodę krytycznej analizy źródeł. Pomocniczo posiłkuje się również metodą dogmatyczno-prawną, analizując teksty aktów prawa międzynarodowego. Dla zobrazowania przypadków nieprzestrzegania praw człowieka trzeciej generacji oraz uzasadnienia podjęcia działań na gruncie międzynarodowym Autor używa również metody analizy poszczególnych przypadków. 4. Wnioski Autor uzasadnia potrzebę wyodrębnienia praw człowieka trzeciej generacji oraz dowodzi, że współcześnie prawa te doznają uszczerbku na wielu płaszczyznach. Wskazuje, że naruszanie praw człowieka trzeciej generacji uzasadnia potrzebę wzmocnienia ich ochrony na gruncie międzynarodowym. Przestrzeganie praw człowieka trzeciej generacji gwarantuje realizację praw wolnościowych i równościowych, to jest praw człowieka pierwszej i drugiej generacji.
1. Purpose The purpose of the article is to confirm the relevance of isolation of the third-generation human rights and to indicate the need for action at international level in order to enforce such rights of a collective nature. Analysing the selected third-generation human rights the author draws attention to the fact that some of the third-generation rights are violated in practice and hence indispensable are measures of an international nature that aim at reinforcement of protection of these rights. 2. Introduction The third-generation human rights were isolated in the 70’s of the XX century by a French scientist of Czech origin Karel Vašak. They are collective in nature and contrary to the first- and second-generation rights (which are related to liberty and equality) serve entire human communities. Protection of the third-generation human rights makes sense if the overall objective of the ensuring is not a human but a group of people. Hence, the most significant third-generation human rights house in particular the right to peace, to democratic state based on the rule of law, to self-determination of nations, to security, to a healthy environment, to development, to humanitarian aid, to participation in human heritage. It is important to realise that enforcement of the first- and second-generation human rights (to liberty and equality) is associated with a sufficient guaranteeing the third-generation human rights. Unfortunately, the third-generation rights are often violated nowadays (by numerous wars, impossibility of self-determination for some nations, lack of broad international environmental protection measures and cherishing the common human heritage). That is why it is vital to create awareness and take actions in favour of protection of the third-generation human rights. 3. Methodology The author isolates and describes the third-generation human rights using primarily the method of critical review of the literature. In the alternative, he deals with the dogmatic-legal method analysing texts of international law. In order to illustrate cases of the third-generation human rights abuses and to give legitimacy to taking action at international level the author also uses the case study method. 4. Conclusions The author justifies the need to isolate the third-generation human rights and proves that contemporarily these rights are prejudiced on many aspects. He indicates that violation of the third-generation human rights legitimizes the need to strengthen their protection at international level. The respect for the third-generation human rights guarantees the exercise of liberties and equality laws, i.e. the first- and second-generation human rights

This review of Work in Progress. Konfrontacje trzeciego pokolenia po Zagładzie, a multiauthored volume consisting of seven chapters, focuses on how the third generation after the Shoah has been read in Poland and abroad, and, in this respect, it emphasises the innovative character of the book discussed. Work in Progress is an interdisciplinary volume comprised of various perspectives; even though it tackles issues not well known in Poland, it follows recent academic trends. Undoubtedly, the merits of this publication include: coherence, surprising dynamism, distrust in stereotypical thinking, timing and its focus.
W recenzji składającej się z siedmiu szkiców pracy zbiorowej Work in Progress. Konfrontacje trzeciego pokolenia po Zagładzie autor wskazuje na dotychczasowe ujęcia tematu trzeciego pokolenia na świecie i w Polsce oraz podkreśla nowatorstwo omawianej książki. Reprezentuje ona różne perspektywy, jest interdyscyplinarna, a przy tym niezwykle aktualna, mimo że traktuje często o zjawiskach słabo w kraju znanych. Do niewątpliwych zalet recenzowanej monografii należą: niebywały dynamizm, burzenie wszelkiego rodzaju schematów myślowych, trzymanie ręki „na pulsie”, a przy tym zachowanie koherentności.

The debut novel Winternähe by the young German-Jewish author Mirna Funk is a paradigmatic illustration of the post Shoah literature of the third, the grandchildren generation. The novel expounds on against background of the death of Shoah-survivors, the new ways of dealing with the family past and transnational Shoah memory in a complex relation to the globality and mobility as current conditions of the modern life. Funk’s novel also expounds on the subversive strategies, which are inherent in modern virtual communication media like Facebook or Instagram.
