The aim of the article is twofold. First, it is to interpret the main philosophical ideas of the Polish cooperative movement from the first part of the twentieth century and how they were applied in practice, by using the conceptual vocabulary of post-structuralist and post-Operaist political philosophy; and, second, to further develop the notion of ―institutions of the common‖ that Michael Hardt and Antonio Negri introduced — during debates about alternatives to both capitalism and the state-form — with their formulation of ―principles of the common‖, which is to say, general principles for creating democratic and popular institutions around the ideas of inclusion and solidarity, an ethos of mutual help and democratic governance over production and exchange of material wealth.

L’article cherche à comprendre comment Augustin a radicalement reformulé, depuis une perspective théologique, la notion politique de bien commun de l’antiquité classique. L’argument principal est que cette réinterprétation découle naturellement de la théologie néotestamentaire de la koinonia qui unit l’Eglise, comme le montre la lettre a Volusianus et les homélies sur l’Epitre aux Parthes. A partir de cette lecture, il devient alors plus aisé de comprendre la fameuse reformulation de la définition de société aux livres II et XIX de la Cité de Dieu. Nous concluons en identifiant les trois thèmes qui, à partir d’Augustin, seront étroitement associé à la notion de bien commun en occident : 1) Le bien commun n’est plus un concept, mais une Personne et un Espace. Christ, en son humanité, est le seul et unique Bien Commun du genre humain. 2) Le Bien Commun universel est d’ordre eschatologique ; dans l’histoire on ne peut parler au mieux que de biens communs partiel et imparfait. 3) La charité est le moteur de la dynamique d’accomplissement du Bien Commun universel dans l’histoire.
The article seeks to understand how Augustine radically reformulated the political notion of the common good of classical antiquity, from a theological perspective. The main argument is that this reinterpretation follows naturally from the New Testament theology of the koinonia uniting the Church, as shown in the letter to Volusianus and Augustine's homilies on the Epistle to the Parthians. From this reading, it then becomes easier to understand the famous reformulation of the definition of society in books II and XIX of the City of God. We conclude by identifying the three themes that, from Augustine onwards, will be closely associated with the notion of the common good in the western political theology: 1) The common good is no longer a concept, but a Person and a Space: Christ in his humanity is the one and only Common Good of the human race. 2) The universal Common Good is eschatological; in history we can only speak of partial and imperfect common goods. 3) Charity is the driving force behind the dynamic fulfilling the universal Common Good in history.

The development of modern cities is subject to many influences. These include social and cultural inspirations, whose impact results from the local will to adopt new trends, such as the currently popular demands of the postmodern world. Among other things, they promote initiatives intended to integrate urban communities. Cooperation between inhabitants results in the development of urban communities and creation of urban common goods, offering specific types of benefits, such as collective benefits. The purpose of this article is to define and establish the concept of collective benefits substantively among the achievements of urban economy. It has to be stressed that economic relationships which arise in the processes of integrating city users deserve special attention, because the relationships connecting them contribute to the development of unique conditions for living and conducting business. They can be regarded as a broadly understood set of agglomeration economies.

The diffusion of alternative financial and credit circuits, in which the money favours the self-management of social wealth, may curb the expropriation caused by processes of abnormal indebtedness that increasingly characterise economic systems. The article proposes an examination of four experiences with complementary currencies that have sprung up in Europe after the recent crisis, distinguishing between local currencies (Sardex, SoNantes and Sol Violette) and crypto coins (Bitcoin). The possibility of taking advantage of the monetary know-how that animates various experiences (like crypto coins and local clearing houses) would contribute to the re-thinking money as a social institution. Three main topics are discussed: 1. the “political technologies” in which the alternative monetary circuits consist; 2. democratic participation in the decision-making processes that characterise them; and 3. the meaning of the sovereignties that they potentially define

The paper discusses new forms of social collaboration that have been actively developing in cities for a number of years now. The text analyses the form of social interactions that the author has defined as a community institution. Applying this cognitive category to a reflection on a specific example – a food cooperative – made it possible to capture the characteristic features of a community self-organisation mechanism. Discovering the institutional aspects of the discussed phenomenon made it possible to observe that community collaboration involves an educational process of constructing the common good and consequently – a major potential of pedagogical impact and significant impact on local public policies.

Niniejszy artykuł dostarcza mapy trzyelementowego zestawu pojęciowego z porządku tego, co wspólne (dobra wspólnego, dóbr wspólnych oraz tego, co wspólne) w odniesieniu do szkolnictwa wyższego. Robi to przy pomocy metody ontologii politycznej. Omawia powyższe trzy pojęcia w odniesieniu do sześciu wymiarów rzeczywistości szkolnictwa wyższego (ontologii, polityki, stosunków własności, zasad ładu akademickiego, korzyści oraz finansowania). Tym samym nie tylko przedstawia systematyczne ujęcie szkolnictwa wyższego widziane przez pryzmat tego, co wspólne, ale również wyjaśnia istotowe (a niekiedy subtelne) różnice między samymi pojęciami. Co więcej podejmuje również zwięźle kwestie różnic między pojęciami z porządku tego, co wspólne, a tymi z porządku tego, co publiczne. Wreszcie, artykuł stara się udzielić wglądu w to, co ten konkretny zestaw pojęciowy może zaoferować badaczom w zakresie myślenia i projektowania alternatywy dla szkolnictwa wyższego w jego dzisiejszym kształcie.
This article provides a map of the three-element conceptual set of the common (the common good, the commons, and the common) in reference to higher education. It does so using a method of political ontology. It discusses the three concepts in reference to the six dimensions of higher education reality (ontology, politics, ownership, governance, benefits, and finance). Thus, it not only presents a systematic view of higher education reality as seen through the lenses of the common but also explains the substantial (and in some cases, subtler) differences between the concepts themselves. Moreover, it addresses briefly the differences between the concepts from the order of the common and those from the order of the public. Finally, the article seeks to offer an insight into what this particular conceptual set may provide the researchers in terms of thinking through, and designing an alternative to the current predicament of higher education.

This article is an attempt to explain the Platonic conception of the common good as a theory much more equivalent to the common good (as such), than modern theories that they put a man on the pedestal, instead of the community. By reference to the content of Laws and State will be presented that Plato saw his idea of a state-building manner. This is a very accurate interpretation of concern for the common good. The subject of this article is to present the principle of the common good and attempt to define the concept of the common good in the jurisprudence of the Polish Constitutional Court. Although the principle of the common good is the supreme constitutional principle, the Constitutional Tribunal has not worked out one definition of the common good. The Constitutional Tribunal invokes the concept of the common good in particular directly as the right or one of the reasons justifying the restriction of freedom and constitutional rights or as an axiological basis for the reasons for restricting constitutional freedoms and rights. The Constitutional Tribunal for the resolution of individual cases only supports the concept of the common good.
