The heretofore undescribed case of a ruined Łódź villa from the thirties of the twentieth century, known as the so-called the House of Wasiak, binding with different images, still operates in the narrative of the residents of the Marysin area, and “the House of Wasiak” itself as a link in the local discourse-an element whose meaning is conditioned by the existence of another powerful signifier-should be regarded as the key to the understanding of the mechanisms shaping the complex picture of local relations. Relations that are standard for the Polish context of social, political and urban changes today being as they are a result of a truly palimpsestic buildup of stories and traumas.

The majority of the philosophical proves of the existence of God or other philosophical attempts of talking about Him try to meet standards of rationality only. In this way they reach mostly a philosophical notion of God which rules out a religious relationship to Him. Zubiri is trying to present a philosophical way which leads to a notion of God, who can be at the same time a God of philosophy and of religion. But this means overcoming rationality with reasonableness. Reasonable means compatible with human life.

Artykuł omawia relację między językiem a miejscem w pismach dwóch intelektualistów mieszkających w Amherst (Massachusetts) w 1. połowie XIX wieku: Noaha Webstera, autora monumentalnego słownika języka angloamerykańskiego, oraz Edwarda Hitchcocka, geologa, teologa i wykładowcy Amherst College. Wpływ na poglądy Webstera na język miały, z jednej strony, jego przekonania religijne, a z drugiej – fascynacja rolnictwem i uprawa roli, którą można ujmować jako Heideggerowskie „zamieszkiwanie w świecie”, zakorzenienie w rzeczywistości przez dotyk, który według Merleau-Ponty’ego pozwala na intymny, niezhierarchizowany kontakt ze światem. Także w języku Webster poszukuje materialnego konkretu, zapowiadając poglądy Emersona i Whitmana. W pracach Hitchcocka uderza różnica między perspektywą geologa i topografa. Jako geolog Hitchcock unika wartościującego dystansu, zachowując, także na poziomie doświadczenia cielesnego, kontakt z ziemią, której historię bada; jako topograf – ocenia estetyczne zalety i wady krajobrazów. Jednym z projektów Hitchcocka, znów przywodzącym na myśl Whitmana, było nadawanie nowych nazw górom i rzekom Massachusetts, aby uczynić je atrakcyjnymi dla poetów.

This paper aims at the interpretation of the father as an empty figure of authority in Samuel Beckett’s radio play entitled Embers. Through the close-reading of this play and the analysis of the relations between the protagonist and the two feminine characters, Ada and Addie, it demonstrates how the father figure coincides with the classical impasse of Beckett’s oeuvre: the subject unable to manifest itself. Due to that fact, the father is presented in the constant process of wearing his authorial space out. It is eventually demonstrated that in Embers the subject is coerced to balance between its self-deconstruction and the paternal violence: its focus on its own materiality results in the collapse of language, whereas overt attention on the linguistic cognition puts forward the logic of remnants resisting father’s orders, be it in the form of sound collage, or material element immune to symbolisation.

Based on the fourth part of Pamela Lyndon Travers’s series of children’s books, Mary Poppins in the Park, the article proposes a view of a park as a dychotomic place: subjected to some rules, yet simultaneously a real and magic space which stirs one’s imagination. Following this double understanding, it can be stated that a park ideally matches the title character of the novel, who cares (often too much) about her children’s appropriate behaviour, but at the same time displays her predilection for children plays and imagination games. The conclusion highlights the two-dimensionality of the park, which by welcoming adults and children, becomes the space of both the real and the imaginary.

The aim of this article is to show the Jewish heritage of Krakow as a complex tourism product which should be promoted and transmitted to the clients in different ways, depending on the customer profile, his nationality, state of knowledge and attitude to the object (stereotypes, prejudices, perceptions). The tourist office and the city guide have to play an important, intercultural part which also changes depending on the recipient’s type. To show it, an author of the article has presented some practical examples – programs realized by the polish travel adventure office for different target groups on the basis of the same product that is in this case Krakow’s Jewish heritage.

This paper aims to read Doris Lessing’s “The golden notebook” as a literary experiment, which struggles to find meaning amid fragmented narratives. Aiming to reflect the structure of the experience of mental breakdown, the novel is abundant with literary strategies meant to enhance the understanding of the Real (in Lacanian sense) experience of the main protagonist. Ultimately, all of the stylistic endeavours are doomed to failure, and the experience which cannot be directly communicated surfaces as traumatic: it escapes both chronology and understanding; it renders the protagonist helpless against reality, which she perceives as full of violence. The reason behind the breakdown is elusive, yet it seems to be grounded in historical reality of the twentieth century. Through its inability to convey a message in a conventional novelistic form, “The golden notebook” emerges as a witness to the traumatic nature of human experience of the modern era.

There are two fundamental questions that this paper tries to answer: how Zubiri knows God, and whether we can consider his philosophy to be mysticism. The greatest part of the analysis considers the last ten years of his philosophical activity. The first part of the paper analyzes the mature form of his method, which Zubiri revealed in his Trilogy. A brief presentation is made of primordial apprehension, logos and reason. Zubiri’s method goes beyond orthodox phenomenology, because he finds a need also to include metaphysics. The second part of the article applies this method in order to know God. It begins with an analysis of the person in the process of construction of its I. Zubiri analyzes this mostly in Man and God. We can access God only on the metaphysical level of knowledge. On this path he rejects logic and speculation. On our way to know God we must confront the presumed sketch of God with human personal life. We can discover human life only by following strictly the sui generis phenomenological method. The conclusion that Zubiri reaches is that there is a personal absolute God, who influences humans in the construction of the I through the reality of things. On certain conditions, we can call Zubiri’s approach to philosophy a mystical one. This is due to the constant action of God creating a certain tension between the person and reality and a need for a personal answer to the divine action.

Realne stanowi jeden z najciekawszych i zarazem najbardziej „filozoficznych” konceptów Lacana. I choć odkrycie Realnego wiąże się przede wszystkim z kliniką, to nie można zaprzeczyć, że teoria trzech rejestrów niesie ze sobą implikacje niemal metafizyczne. W niniejszym artykule autor opisuje rozwój pojęcia Realnego w nauczaniu Lacana, próbując jednocześnie odpowiedzieć na pytanie o możliwość psychoanalitycznej (para-)ontologii. Okazuje się, ze tym, co wyróżnia lacanowski realizm jest specyficzny ruch – od transcendencji do immanencji.
The Real is one of the most interesting and at the same time most „philosophical” among Lacan’s concepts. Even, if it is rather clinical question, there is no doubt that theory of three registers has almost metaphysical consequences. In this paper, author describes history of the concept of the Real in Lacan’s teaching and tries to find an answer to question concerning possibility of lacanian (para-)ontology. It turns out that, what is specific to lacanianins is movement from transcendence to immanence.

Głównym celem artykułu jest odpowiedź na pytanie: Jakie są piotrkowskie place zabaw, a jakie chcieliby je widzieć badani? Na podstawie analizy 25 wypowiedzi rodziców/opiekunów zebranych za pomocą wywiadu fotograficznego autorka pokazuje, czy i na ile przestrzeń wyobrażona różni się od przestrzeni realnej. Z materiału badawczego wynika, że wyobrażenie idealnego placu zabaw nie odbiega tak bardzo od realnego obrazu. Jednakże rozmówcy eksponują te elementy, które mają podnieść poziom bezpieczeństwa zabawy oraz jakość i estetykę urządzeń użytkowanych przez dzieci i opiekunów w przestrzeni.
The main purpose of the article is answering the question: What are the playgrounds of Piotrków Trybunalski and respondents would like to see them? Sources for this article comprise of 25 statements of parents, which was gathered by the photo elicitation interview. The collected material shows whether and how much the imaginary space differs from the real space. The further analysis proves that an ideal place for children does not differ so much from a real one. Additionally, respondents pointed out the elements that could improve the safety of play, quality and aesthetic of the devices in the space used by children and their parents.

The article describes the fundamental issues of limiting property rights in connection with introducing the form of the conservation of nature on the given area Nature 2000. Regulations of environment protection laws and the act on the conservation of nature which appropriate claims will grant property owners were shown. Also existing legal conflicts were described in this area. The choice about the manner of the compensation for implemented restrictions to a large extent is hampering by the economical functioning of farmers in areas Nature 2000. What is more, a foreign aid budget coming from European Funds seems insufficient.

Po okresie dość intensywnego rozwoju rynku nieruchomości w Polsce, liczba i wartość zawartych na tym rynku transakcji zaczęły spadać. W roku 2009 liczba zawartych transakcji była mniejsza o 32% niż w roku 2007. O tyle samo spadła również wartość wszystkich zawartych transakcji w roku 2009 w stosunku do roku poprzedniego. Jednak po roku 2009 sytuacja zaczęła się powoli poprawiać, na co wskazują dodatnie wskaźniki dynamiki badanych zjawisk. Celem artykułu jest analiza dynamiki ilości i wartości transakcji kupna-sprzedaży różnych rodzajów nieruchomości w Polsce w latach 2006-2012.
After the period of quite intense sector development in Poland, the number and the value of transactions began to decrease. In 2009 the number of transactions entered into on the Polish market dropped of 32% compared to 2007. The value of all transactions entered into the market in 2009 also lost the same percentage in relation to the previous year. However after 2009 the situation started slowly to recover. The purpose of the article is to analise the dynamics of the amount and the values of different types purchase-sale transactions of the real estate in Poland through years 2006-2012 .

By h(G,x) and P(G,λ) we denote the adjoint polynomial and the chromatic polynomial of graph G, respectively. A new invariant of graph G, which is the fourth character R₄(G), is given in this paper. Using the properties of the adjoint polynomials, the adjoint equivalence class of graph $B_{n-6,1,2}$ is determined, which can be regarded as the continuance of the paper written by Wang et al. [J. Wang, R. Liu, C. Ye and Q. Huang, A complete solution to the chromatic equivalence class of graph $\overline{B_{n-7,1,3}}$, Discrete Math. (2007), doi: 10.1016/j.disc.2007.07.030]. According to the relations between h(G,x) and P(G,λ), we also simultaneously determine the chromatic equivalence class of $\overline{B_{n-6,1,2}}$ that is the complement of $B_{n-6,1,2}$.

The article discusses the creative methods of Milo Rau and the changes he brought to the NTGent theatre after becoming its artistic director. Rau established a set of 10 principles called the Ghent Manifesto in order to change the traditional operating system of a city theatre.
