Opis:: Priest B. Maryański is the author of three collections of sermons: Kazania o Najświętszym Sakramencie (Płock 1898), Kazania o wychowaniu dzieci (Płock 1898) and Kazania przygodne (Płock 1900). Current preaching activity of Priest B. Maryańskiego a rich catalog of practical-pastoral guidance, coming from him, and then delivered in published collections of sermons. A major initiative, which was driven by Priest B. Maryańskiemu was education in the Catholic spirit of the people and nation, shaping and developing citizenship in them. Words were primarily directed to the simple people that saw their faults, sins, and quickly repented from them. The content of all three sets of issues of sermons is concerned with key problems of faith, custom, education end national tradition.

Opis:: The author analyzes the transformation of the most ancient Christian tradition, the transformation described in the Letter to the Hebrews. It consists in the fact that the death and resurrection of Jesus are a consecration of the High Pries of the New Covenant. The crucified and resurrected Christ is an anti-type of the High Priest of the Old Covenant. A High Priest is a Mediator and Leader who may not only show the way to the House of the Father. As the only-begotten Son of God He has the right to usher others into it (cf. J 14, 6-9). Through His passion and death Jesus had been transformed and became the perfect High Priest. Thus ”made perfect” (Heb 2, 10), that is, crucified and resurrected Jesus, was made the Head of people and their Leader to salvation. In other words, God made Him the High Priest. The passion and death of Jesus were in fact an exceptional and unique kind of consecrating the High Priest of the New Covenant.

Opis:: Both the Synod of Bishops of 1990 which was dedicated to the formation of priests and the Exhortation of John Paul II, “Pastores Dabo Vobis” have had an essential influence on the reorganization of the priestly formation in the Church. During the preparations for the Synod, John Paul II throughout one year, during his Angelus meditations undertook the most important to-pics concerning the priesthood and the priestly formation. The Pope discus-sed the challenges and tasks of the priests of to-day and of the candidates to the priesthood. He pointed to the need of the Church’s prayer for vocations, the role of family and seminary, as preparing communities for the priesthood. He presented some important dimensions of the priesthood such as its Trinitarian nature, its close relationship with Christ and the cooperation of priests with the power of the Holy Spirit. He showed a special relationship of priests with the Mary, Mother of God who is an educator of the priestly vocations and Mother of priests. Then he emphasized that the priests should be men of faith, hope and love, living in fraternal communion and in the unity with God, prayerful, immersed in God’s wisdom. He emphasized that the priests must live radicalism of the Gospel, especially the evangelical counsels: poverty, obedience, chastity of priestly celibacy. Finally the Pope called attention to the activity of priests, which should manifest themselves as collaborators of God, as ministers of reconciliation and of the Eucharist, as men capable for sacrifice, sensible for the suffering and disposed for missionary work.

Opis:: Rupture – Integration – Renewal: The gathering in Dalma and the creation of a political community in the Chronicle of the Priest of DiocleaIn this paper I would like to discuss an excerpt from the Chronicle of the Priest of Dioclea that concerns a great gathering ordered by the newly baptized King Svetopelek at the fields of Dalma. The Chronicle is a rather mysterious and controversial source which presents the history of a fictional state stretching through medieval Dalmatia and the hinterland. The division of the state which took place during Svetopelek’s reign shows how the chronicler believed the kingdom was to be governed. Space played a special role in the narrative about the gathering. Describing the King’s actions, the Priest of Dioclea simultaneously offered a geographical and political vision of a new order. The interpretation of the events that took place in Dalma (the coronation ceremony, the process of defining the borders of the kingdom and, above all, the unification of the newly founded state community) led to the conclusion that the chronicler was most interested in the problem of creating a political community of two previously hostile groups: the barbarian Slavs and the inhabitants of coastal cities, who were the heirs of the ancient world. W artykule omówiono jego fragment poświęcony wydarzeniom na polach Dalmy, gdzie według dziejopisu odbył się wielki zjazd zwołany przez króla Svetopelka. Przedstawiono tu liczne opinie i pomysły dotyczące interpretacji opisanych wydarzeń: ceremonię koronacyjną, proces wytyczania granic, a przede wszystkim jednanie wspólnoty nowego państwa, i sformułowano wniosek, że Dukljanina najbardziej interesowała kwestia wyodrębniania się społeczności politycznej dwóch grup – dzikich Słowian i będących spadkobiercami antycznego świata mieszkańców wybrzeża.

Opis:: The article reconstructs the picture of a priest present in the quotes included in the dictionary of a Kashubian language created by Stefan Ramułt at the end of the 20th century. It appears that it is a picture of a priest typical of a high culture, which is visible especially in comparison with the picture of a priest shown in "The dictionary of Kashubian dialects in folk culture" written by a priest Bernard Sychta.

Opis:: In this short work we mention the different roles played by the priest and by the king in the religious and political fields. At the time of Homer these two figures were distinct, but, not infrequently, were in violent opposition, as we read in the first canto of Iliad. In ancient times, however, the religious duties, along with political ones, were concentrated in the hand of one man, as we deduce from passages of Homeric poems, from hints to the places of Hesiod and from vestige of the ancient East world. In the course of time, however, the King is interested, exclusively, in politics and the priest in religion, so that, with the passing time, they become two separate entities, each in its specific role. But often the priest, strong of his influence on the masses and on the same king, centralizing the powers in his person, passes his limits, and to reach one’s aims, invokes the curse and the revenge of the gods on his antagonist, until to humiliate him in front of his subjects.

Henri J.M. Nouwen był wybitnym naukowcem. Dziedziną, która go najbardziej interesowała, była duchowość. W jej świetle przedstawia również duszpasterstwo. Jego krytyczne spojrzenie na duszpasterstwo, ale przede wszystkim cenne wskazówki, przeniknięte głęboką duchowością, z troską o człowieka, są aktualne także dzisiaj.

Opis:: In this article the study of the life and service of the priest in respect to thirteen letters is made. The letters were retained from Elisabeth's of the Holy Trinity correspondence with Andrew Chevignard, first as a seminarian and then from 29th June, 1905, as a priest. The study shows an analysis of eight aspects: 1. The priest as a man of love; 2. The priest as a man of faith; 3.The priest as a “copy of Jesus Christ the highest archpriest”; 4. The priest as a man of contemplation; 5. The priest as a man inhabited by God; 6. The priest as a man of Holy Mary; 7.The priest as a man who is totally absorbed by pray and who needs it. In each of them the priest’s need of internal life (spiritual life) is shown which can be summarized by “Unity and Love” (Letter 192). It is realized by the fact that “God is everything for the priest” (Letter 186).
W artykule przeprowadzono studium życia i posługi kapłana w świetle trzynastu listów, które zachowały się z korespondencji Elżbiety od Trójcy Świętej do Andrzeja Chevignarda – najpierw seminarzysty, a od 29 czerwca 1905 r. kapłana. W opracowaniu wyróżniono siedem aspektów badawczych: 1. kapłan jako człowiek miłości; 2. kapłan jako człowiek wiary; 3. kapłan jako „kopia Jezusa Chrystusa Najwyższego Arcykapłana”; 4. kapłan jako człowiek kontemplacji; 5. kapłan jako człowiek zamieszkany przez Boga; 6. kapłan jako człowiek Maryi; 7. kapłan jako człowiek żyjący modlitwą i potrzebujący modlitwy. W każdym z nich wyraźnie zarysowuje się potrzeba życia wewnętrznego (życia duchowego) kapłana, które można streścić w słowach: „Zjednoczenie i Miłość” (List 192). Urzeczywistnia się ono tym, że „Bóg jest wszystkim dla kapłana” (List 186).

Opis:: The Second Vatican Council contributed much to the development of the theology of the liturgy, liturgical theology, but also introduced some practical and legal changes in the celebration and organization of liturgical life. The way to liturgical reform was reopened primarily by involving the laity. Liturgy, as the source and summit of Christian life, gives meaning to the Church and strengthens it on the way of salvation. The article reflects on and develops the truths contained in the “Conciliar Constitution on the Sacred Liturgy” regarding the nature of the liturgy itself as well as its meaning in the life of the Church. The text covers the issues covered in numbers 5–13. The author wants to clarify and deepen the document’s message in the light of Church teaching and the Bible.

Opis:: Christ expressed Himself essentially in His priesthood through which He had redeemed mankind and become the principle of the economy of salvation. This priesthood realised the primitive paradigm of religion that consists in the relationship: God-man and man-God. Christ established the most ultimate and the most perfect bond between God and man, and between man and God: God-man in one person. It is in Christ’s priesthood that priests (bishops and presbyters) participate in a sacramental manner; the faithful participate in it in a broad sense. The two kinds of priesthood stem from one and the same source, from the priesthood of Jesus Christ, and they should coexist, but the hierarchic priesthood is superior and normative. It is in the priesthood that the whole man is expressed and fulfilled on the model of Jesus Christ.
