    Durch Pressetexte werden Konventionen über die darin dargestellten Themen etabliert. Am Beispiel dreier Nachrichten der Deutschen Welle über Polen betreffende Vorgänge sollen Aspekte einer pragmatischen Textanalyse erarbeitet werden. Zielsetzung ist es, Übergänge von sachlicher und meinungsbildender Formulierung innerhalb der Textsorte ‚Nachricht‘ zu bestimmen. Insgesamt soll mit Bezug auf die Kritische Diskursanalyse ein Analyseablauf erstellt werden, der relevante Elemente in fassbare Kategorien einteilt.
    Press texts establish conventions concerning the topics which they describe. Referring to example texts from the Deutsche Welle, this article focuses on aspects relevant to pragmatic textual analysis. The three selected texts deal with the representation of political actions in Poland. The proposed pragmatic analysis aims to capture the relations between objective and opinion-building elements in the basic type of text as a news item. Drawing on critical discourse analysis, a practical tool for analysis is introduced which groups relevant elements into categories.

    Opis:
    The article is a presentation of the previously undiscussed prayer book Dworskie nabożeństwo, published in 1781 in Kalisz, a city which has a long tradition of publishing, mainly connected with the activities of Jesuits. Currently there are 6 known copies of this anonymously published prayer book (commissioned for print “by a priest of the former order of The Society of Jesus”), including the one unknown to XX century bibliographers, found in the Library of Elbląg, which has been recovered and made available recently. Dworskie nabożeństwo is a book constructed in a very original way. It contains 368 identical hexamerous prayers. Parts of the prayers are placed in tables, in a way that makes the reader consciously reconstruct the whole prayer from the elements divided between different rows in the table.

    Opis:
    This paper aims at proving the manipulative character of articles from the weekly newspaper, especially those regarding local politicians, by means of analysing the texts from “Nowiny Sokólskie” (a popular weekly newspaper in Sokółka District resembling a soft tabloid). This periodical is concerned with the most interesting news from the Sokółka District (Podlaskie Province). The texts are tackled from the perspective of occurrence of implicatures. The intentions present in the articles is what constitutes their integral part , given the fact that comprehending these intentions is crucial for the mutual understanding of the author and the reader along with the persuasive effect of the communication. The linguistic analysis has been carried out from the perspective of varied interpretations of implicatures depending on the type of recipient, their general knowledge and whether they can properly decode the intended message. Given this, the statements of the author may be in conflict with the so-called conversational maxims – rules defined by Paul Grice (among other linguists), referring to communicative values of the language. Besides, just like in case of any other communicative situation we also have to do with implicatures – the meaning that is not stated directly.
    Celem artykułu jest wskazanie manipulacyjnego charakteru tekstów z tygodnika regionalnego, szczególnie odnoszących się do postaci miejscowych polityków, poprzez analizę tekstów prasowych z „Nowin Sokólskich” (poczytny tygodnik informacyjny w powiecie sokólskim, mający charakter gazety popularnej – soft tabloid). Tygodnik poświęcony jest najciekawszym informacjom z powiatu sokólskiego (województwo podlaskie). W niniejszym artykule teksty wyekscerpowane z „Nowin Sokólskich” badane są pod kątem występowania implikatur. Intencje obecne w wypowiedziach są ich składową, gdyż od poprawnego ich odczytania zależy wzajemne zrozumienie się nadawcy i odbiorcy oraz efekt perswazyjny wypowiedzi. Analiza językowa została poprowadzona pod kątem zróżnicowanego odbioru implikatur w zależności od typu odbiorcy, tego, jaką dysponuje on wiedzą o świecie, i od tego, czy jest w stanie przeprowadzić odpowiednie wnioskowanie, aby odczytać przekaz zgodnie z intencją autora. Co za tym idzie, wypowiedzi autora mogą naruszać (lub nie) tzw. maksymy konwersacyjne – zasady zdefiniowane m.in. przez Paula Grice’a, odnoszące się do walorów komunikacyjnych języka. Poza tym, jak w przypadku każdej innej sytuacji komunikacyjnej, mamy również do czynienia z implikaturami, czyli treściami niewypowiadanymi bezpośrednio.

    Opis:
    The aim of this paper is to preliminarily describe the genre characteristics of a quest – a new type of a non-literary text. A quest is an indispensable tool used in questing – an innovative form of tourism. Questing is a live action role-playing game combining education and fun. It takes the form of a rhymed story containing topography tips, riddles and information (on history, nature, etc.) related to the route. The concept of questing emerged in the US in the late 1990s. Together with the text model, it is becoming popular in Poland as an attractive form of sight-seeing and as a method of promoting places and regions. The analysis is based on a collection of texts published in the internet, collectively entitled “Wielkopolskie questy” (Quests of Wielkopolska). Characteristic elements of the texts in the analyzed corpus include recurring features observed at 4 levels: pragmatic, cognitive, compositional and stylistic.

    By using van Dijk’s concept of coherence and bringing it together with my Principle of meaning iconicity, we have a new way of looking at incoherence in texts. The principle says that closely related information is meaningfully related on a pragmatic level, an instruction to the reader to relate the information to each other. It is demonstrated by textual analysis that the concept of coherence can be used analytically by dividing it into first and second order coherence. First order coherence is the usual concept of coherence: sentences are connected by cohesive links and related by causality, time etc. Second order coherence is a way of organizing text by using incoherence as a way of organizing text into chunks of coherent parts. It is shown how readers can detect these structures in the text by detecting the incoherence even without the layout of the text to signal structure (e.g. indention of paragraphs).

    This páper reports on the dynamics of the anthropocentrism principle which has deter- mined three development stages o f linguistic pragmatics - communicative, cognitive and discursive ones.In the first (communicative) slage the anthropocentrism principle in the pragmatics involves emphasis on speech acts of one communicant. The second (cognitive) stage is characterized by applying to mental States o f the communicant and aims to explain the relationship language - mind ~ speec h , on the one hand, and involvement of interdisciplinary relations, on the other hand. In the third (discursive) stage, the anthropocentrism principle expands to cognitive and speech interaction o f communicants and their groups within discourses of different types signifying the leading role o f linguistic pragmatics in the evolvemenl o f discourse linguistics. An overview of discourse interpretations is given which include: research materiał (discourse is a text, an excerpt of a text or a complex of texts), object (discourse is a process) and subject (discourse is a unity o f communication process and text).
