The paper presents the technical assumptions and the design of a testbed suitable for conducting experimental tests of gearboxes. In the case of drivetrain assemblies, most often they are built on testbeds, much more seldom in vehicles. Experimental tests constitute a broad field due to the differentiation of functions of individual assemblies and their components in the drivetrain system of cars and machines. Conducting simulation tests (on simulation testbeds) consists in the possibly faithful recreation of real operating conditions of an assembly in a vehicle. The testbeds for such tests are complex and expensive but the obtained results are more reliable and more precisely, than in the case of other methods, take into consideration the impact of different operating loads on the durability of the research object. Due to the extent of the topic, this study is only the introduction to the design work whose aim is to prepare the design of a testbed.

W pracy przedstawiono wynik badań nad jednoczesnym oddziaływaniem procesów mechaniczno-ścierno-korozyjnych. W celu poznania relacji ilościowych jednoczesnego działania procesów destrukcyjnych wykonano eksperymentalne badania poznawcze. Przeprowadzono pomiary zużycia na rzeczywistych obiektach linii ekstrakcyjnej w cukrowni. Przedstawione wyniki wskazują, że elementy linii ekstrakcyjnej ulegają zużywaniu pod wpływem jednoczesnego działania wymuszeń mechanicznych, ściernych i korozyjnych.
This paper presents the results of tests on the simultaneous interaction of mechanical, abrasive and corrosive processes. In order to investigate the quantitative relationships among simultaneously occurring destructive processes, cognitive experimental tests have been carried out. They performed wear measurements on real objects from the extraction line in a sugar factory. The test results presented in the paper show that the extraction line elements are worn out as an effect of simultaneous interactions of mechanical, abrasive, and corrosive forces.

Since the beginning of the 90’s, a scientific team in the Motor Vehicle and Transport Institute of the Mechanical Department in the Military University of Technology, has been involved in the model and experimental tests of the existing structures of the military vehicles (tanks, combat infantry vehicles and wheeled armoured carriers) in the aspect of their modernization. A part of works is related to the military vehicles included in the army’s equipment and the other parts are related to newly designed vehicles. In both cases issues related to the behaviour of selected assemblies and the whole vehicle, structure during threats posed by the reality of contemporary battlefield or armed symmetric or asymmetric conflicts are analysed. Selected effects of the tests and analyses will be presented mostly within the qualitative scope due to the data sensitivity. Contemporary design of military vehicles requires involvement of various research methods and specialized calculation software. The results obtained during performed various experimental tests make a valuable basis for verification of numerical models used in design process and multi-option simulation calculations.

This paper presents works associated with the design, experimental tests and numerical analyses of a composite connector, which is a part responsible for increasing the safety of the soldiers. Nowadays researchers more and more often are searching for modern materials, which, as individual components or structures connected with other materials, meet the requirements of global markets. One of the most important branches of industry, which presently is growing increasingly are high technologies accompanying the safety of soldiers who are the passengers of a military vehicle. The proposed solution allows protection of the sensitive parts of body (e.g. legs), as well as the entire body of a soldier from the risks resulting from the impact of a pressure wave coming from explosion on the vehicle in which the soldier travels. A combination of classic materials, such as steel, and modern materials with hyperelastic characteristics might be an alternative to the currently used shock absorbers and dampers. Perspective can be using this assembly as a connector between a seat and the military vehicle body or special plates for protecting the crew’s feet resting on the floor of the vehicle during explosion of a mine or IED. The analysis is conducted using the LS-DYNA explicit code.

The work describes the experimental test methodology and results obtained during the experimental crash tests involving passenger cars and the prototype concrete protective barrier, which was built according to the original design prepared by the authors of this article. The crash tests involving a vehicle and the protective barrier cover the experiment results in three basic areas: severity ofthe collision impact on vehicle passengers, the impact on a vehicle and deformation of the road protective system. Applied testing procedures meet the requirements of the national standards, that make the equivalents of the European standards EN-1317-1:1998, EN-1317-2:1998, EN-J 317-3:2000. The tests have been performed for selected crash criteria (TB11 and TB32), for a normal restrain level (N2), using three passenger's cars (Dodge Neon and 2 units of Suzuki Swift). Applied testing procedures meet the requirements of the national standards [1-5]. The work presents examples of experimental test results in three basie areas: intensity of the crash impact on the vehicle passengers, the impact on a vehicle and deformation of the road protective system. The test results have been presented in a form of courses of speeds and accelerations along the vehicle body axes x, y, z. Acceleration severity index (ASI), theoretical head impact velocity (THIV), post-impact head delay (PHD), vehicle cabin deformation index (VCDI) and deformation levels of the road protective system (W) have been also defined.

This article presents works associated with the design, numerical analyses and experimental tests of an energyabsorbing mat designed for increasing the safety of the soldiers inside military vehicles, especially their legs. One of the most important branches of engineering interests is high technologies accompanying the safety of soldiers. Energy absorbing mats are one of an additional equipment of a military vehicle, which is directly targeted to increase leg safety during explosion of IED (Improvised Explosive Device) under vehicle. The presented invention allows protection legs of the crew’s feet resting on the floor of the vehicle during explosion of a mine or IED. In most solutions, crewmembers’ foot rests directly on the floor, causing serious injuries. The value of the load on the metatarsus and tibia is closely related to the overall vehicle structure, which generally has limitations in the use of available external and internal protection solutions. Energy absorbing mats are a universal solution because they are adaptable to any type of vehicle. Their role is particularly important in flat-bottomed armoured vehicles. The article will show the results of the analysis showing how the mat works. Experimental results will be compared with the results of numerical analysis. The analysis is conducted using the LS-DYNA explicit code.

The article presents the analysis, project, and experimental examination of an original rigid riser for Coil Tubing Pipes. The principle of riser operation is based on the use of friction forces. The research included the FEM analysis of the designed riser, calculations of the required bolt tensions, and checking the effect of the clamping force on stress distribution in the pipeline. The results of computer simulation were verified on a specially designed test rig. The described riser design was implemented on the LOTOS Petrobaltic platform, thus eliminating the need for purchase and installation of expensive elastic risers.

Comprehensive methodology of numerical nonlinear analysis of the consecutive phases in the structural behaviour of bridge plate girders with deformations is presented. The analysis concerns all stages of structure loading until failure and especially determination of the ultimate shear load capacity. Verification and validation of the numerical procedures proposed is based on comparison of the calculated results with effects of experimental laboratory shear capacity tests of plate girders carried out at the University of Ljubljana.

Development of an algorithm of fatigue life of structural components of road and rail vehicles as well as sea vessels and aircrafts involves three groups of activities connected with: development of fatigue load spectra on the basis measurement of service loads, determination of the construction material fatigue properties and a selection of the best hypothesis for estimating the fatigue damage to be used for a phenomenological description of the fatigue process. The above listed groups of problems include the main causes of differences that occur between the calculation results and the results of fatigue life experimental tests. Evaluation of these differences is the main goal of this article.
Algorytm obliczeń trwałości zmęczeniowej elementów konstrukcyjnych pojazdów drogowych i szynowych oraz statków morskich i powietrznych obejmuje trzy grupy czynności związanych z: opracowaniem widm obciążeń na podstawie pomiarów obciążeń eksploatacyjnych, wyznaczeniem własności zmęczeniowych materiałów konstrukcyjnych oraz doborem odpowiedniej hipotezy sumowania uszkodzeń zmęczeniowych stanowiącej fenomenologiczny opis procesu zmęczenia. W wymienionych grupach zagadnień kryją się podstawowe źródła różnic pomiędzy wynikami obliczeń a wynikami badań doświadczalnych trwałości zmęczeniowej. Ocena tych różnic jest podstawowym celem artykułu.
