Przedstawione uniwersalne stanowisko do badań elementów hydrauliki sterowniczej maszyn górniczych jako efekt wieloletniej pracy Centrum Hydrauliki na udoskonalaniem układów elektrohydraulicznego sterowania. Pokazana budowa stanowiska, w którym podstawowym elementem jest moduł sterująco-pośredniczący, opracowany z wykorzystaniem karty cRIO9030 firmy National Instruments. Stanowisko umożliwia opracowanie, uruchamianie i modyfikowanie oprogramowania oraz tworzenie wirtualnych sterowników. Również możliwe jest prowadzenie pomiarów energii potrzebnej do sterowania wybranymi typami elektrozaworów, uruchamiające poszczególne funkcje maszyny. Oprogramowanie stanowiska badawczego powstało na bazie aplikacji LabView i umożliwia prowadzenie testów elementów sterowania oraz wizualizacji parametrów ich pracy. Możliwa jest również modyfikacja funkcjonalności stanowiska badawczego zależnie od aktualnie realizowanych badań.
Presented universal stand for testing components of control hydraulics of mining machines is as a result of long-standing work carried out by Center of Hydraulics DOH Ltd. focused on the improvement of the electrohydraulic control systems. The construction of the stand where the basic element is a control and intermediate module developed with the use of cRIO9030 card manufactured by National Instruments. The stand allows the development, commission and modification of the software, and to create virtual drivers. Moreover, it is possible to carry out measurements of the energy required to control selected types of solenoid valves that initiate chosen machine functions. Software of the test stand was created based on LabView application and allows conducting tests of control elements and parameters visualization and their operation. It is also possible to modify the functionality of the test stand, depending on ongoing research.

In this article, the conditions to be met by a two- and three dimensional wind tunnel tests in order to ensure their correctness are presented. First of all, they relate to the flow similarity between the real and wind tunnel conditions. This similarity enforces a wind tunnel calibration, a proper design and manufacturing of the tested models, a proper research, as well as processing of obtained test data including the usage of the wind tunnel corrections. In this work, the majority of these conditions were presented but in particular, the influence of the wind tunnel corrections on the tested models aerodynamic characteristics is consider. The two-dimensional airfoil studies and three-dimensional aircraft model balance investigation were performed in two low speed wind tunnels of a different sizes of theirs test section. The wind tunnel tests were performed in two Institute of Aviation low speed wind tunnels, namely in the wind tunnel T-1 (of the 1.5 m diameter test section) and in the wind tunnel T-3 (of the 5 m diameter test section), at the same undisturbed velocity, V∞ = 40 m/s. The comparison of the lift coefficient characteristic obtained in two different wind tunnels using the same two and three-dimensional models and same measurement techniques enabled to discuss the problem of necessity of the wind tunnel corrections usage.

Determination of possible manoeuvres to be performed by the aircraft requires knowledge of its aerodynamic characteristics including, in particular, characteristics of the aircraft at configuration with deflected control surfaces. In this article, the wind tunnel tests results of the model of passenger Tu-154M aircraft manufactured at the scale 1:40 are presented. The model was designed and manufactured by the Military University of Technology based on the Tu154M aircraft geometry obtained by full-scale object scanning. The model mapped all aircraft control surfaces, along with the gaps between these surfaces and the main wing part. During the tests all the model’s control surface like, flaps, ailerons, spoilers, slots, rudder, elevator and tail plane were deflected at the same deflection angles range as they are used in the full scale aircraft. The aerodynamic characteristics of the tested Tu-154M aircraft model were measured by the 6-component internal balance. Based on the obtained measurements the aircraft model aerodynamic coefficients were calculated. In the article the basic aerodynamic characteristics of the tested Tu-154M aircraft model i.e. lift, drag coefficients as well as pitching, yawing and rolling moment coefficients versus model angles of attack and sideslip angles were presented. The tests were performed in the Institute of Aviation low speed wind tunnels T-1 of the 1.5 m diameter test section at the undisturbed velocity, V∞ = 40 m/s

The main functions of an aviation brake system are to slow the speed of the vehicle, to perform stable deceleration, and to hold the vehicle stationary after it stopped. They must perform safely under a variety of operating conditions such as slippery, wet and dry runways, full or light load of the vehicle, new or worn brake linings, novice or experienced pilot, etc. The experimental tests show that about 95% of friction energy is converted into thermal energy by plastic deformation of brake linings surface layers and other deformations. The friction materials temperature growth is caused by this energy transformation. The influence of braking temperature is very important to the tribology characteristics, durability and reliability of friction brakes. Landing Gear Department Laboratory performed many experimental tests on full-scale brakes and also on friction material samples. It was performed on the special laboratory test rigs. During the Anti Lock Braking system test, the Landing Gear Department Laboratory workers performed the brake linings temperature measurements. Author observed a positive influence of ABS system use on temperature curve. The aim of this article is to compare the test results of braking with ABS system applied to braking without ABS.

Objectives This study explores the association between self-reported exposure to traffic-related air pollution and respiratory health symptoms, as well as lung functions and skin prick tests in adolescents living in the vicinity of main roads. Material and Methods The data in the study were acquired using a cross-sectional study conducted between 2004–2005 in Chorzów (Silesia, Poland) among adolescents (N = 936) aged 13–15 years, attending junior high schools. Adverse respiratory health symptoms and exposure to traffic-related air pollution were determined on the basis of a questionnaire. Moreover, all children underwent spirometry and skin prick tests. Multivariable logistic regression with multiple imputation for missing data was used to assess the prevalence of adverse respiratory symptoms in relation to self-reported exposure to traffic-related air pollution, adjusted for socioeconomic and environmental factors. Results Among respiratory tract diseases, asthma and allergic rhinitis associations were statistically significant (OR = 2.16, 95% CI: 1.12–4.15 and OR = 1.69, 95% CI: 1.08–2.64, respectively). Likewise, among respiratory disorders, statistically significant associations were found in the case of wheezes and dyspnea attack (OR = 1.58, 95% CI: 1.10–2.26 and OR = 2.39, 95% CI: 1.56–3.66, respectively), with respect to the vicinity of the main road. Living in the area with high traffic intensity was statistically significantly associated with a higher prevalence of asthma and wheezes (OR = 2.31, 95% CI: 1.22–4.39 and 1.48, 95% CI: 1.09–2.01, respectively). The results obtained did not confirm the relationship between the adopted way of exposure to traffic-related air pollution and lung function indices or skin prick tests. Conclusions Results of the study suggest that children living in the area with intense traffic are more likely to develop respiratory disorders. Moreover, the vicinity of a main road as well as traffic intensity could be suitable in assessing the relationship between road transport and potential health problems among exposed inhabitants. Analizatory wydechu, przyrządy do pomiaru stężenia masowego alkoholu (etanolu) w powietrzu wydychanym, są wzorcowane w Polsce za pomocą wilgotnych wzorców gazowych wytwarzanych in situ w symulatorze wydechu z wodnych roztworów wzorcowych etanolu. W artykule przedyskutowano wpływ rozwiązań konstrukcyjnych stanowisk pomiarowych do badania analizatorów wydechu na niepewność stężenia wytwarzanego wzorca. Przedstawiono szczegółową analizę potencjalnych źródeł niepewności i przykładowe budżety niepewności, dla wartości stężenia masowego etanolu w wilgotnym wzorcu gazowym oraz dla wyznaczonej wartości błędu wskazań analizatora.
Breath analyzers are instruments for determination of alcohol (ethanol) mass concentration in exhaled air. These instruments are calibrated in Poland by means of wet gas standards produced in situ from aqueous standard solutions in breath simulators. The article discusses the influence of design of test benches for testing of breath analyzers on the uncertainty of the concentration of the produced gas standard. A detailed analysis of potential sources of uncertainty and an exemplary uncertainty budgets of mass ethanol concentration in a wet gas standard as well as that of the determined instrument error are presented.

Diffraction methods are commonly used for the determination of the elastic lattice deformation and distortion from the displacement and broadening of the diffraction peak. These methods enable researchers to measure stresses and elastic properties of polycrystalline materials. The main advantages of diffraction methods are their non-destructive character and the possibility of macrostress and microstress analysis for multiphase and anisotropic materials. Measurements are performed selectively only for crystallites contributing to the measured diffraction peak, i.e. for the grains having lattice orientations for which the Bragg condition is satisfied. When several phases are present in the sample, measurements of separate diffraction peaks allow for the behaviour of each phase to be investigated independently. This method can be applied without any limitations to flat specimens. Numerical calculations of residual stresses around the rivets imply a very high stress gradientin the case of tangential stresses as well in the case of radial stresses. Attempting to verify these predictions, the residual stress measurements with an X-ray diffractometer were performed on riveted samples after the riveting process. In addition, complementary measurements of strain values with strain gauges during the riveting process were performed as well as the finite elements modelling. The aim of these measurements was to determine the stress values around the rivets and to compare results obtained with different techniques. On the other hand, the multi-scale crystallographic model of elastoplastic deformation is very convenient for the study of elastoplastic properties in microscopic and macroscopic scales. Comparison of experimental data with model predictions allows us to understand the physical phenomena that occur during a sample's deformation at the level of polycrystalline grains. Moreover, the micro and macro parameters of elastoplastic deformation can be experimentally established. It should be stated that the characterisation of the residual stress field and elastic properties is important in the study of the mechanical behaviour of polycrystalline materials, including plasticity and damage phenomena. In this work, a new analysis method of neutron diffraction results obtained during in-situ tensile load is proposed and tested. The methodology is based on the measurements of lattice strains during in-situ tensile testing for several hkl reflections and for different orientations of the sample with respect to the scattering vector. As the result, the full stress tensor for preferred texture orientations in function of the applied stress can be determined using the crystallite group method. The experimental data are presented and compared with the self-consistent model calculations performed for groups of grains selected by different hkl reflections.

The paper presents the estimation methodology for uncertainties of magnetic flux linkage measurements, when the flux linkage and current functions with respect to time are obtained instead of single values of these quantities. The computed uncertainties are then used to estimate the quality of an approximation of a current-flux characteristic in the mathematical model of an electrical machine when the approximation is based on the results of measurements.

At the National Institute of Metrological Research (INRIM) an evaluation of a commercial dual source high resistance bridge has been performed. Its two main measurement modes (single measurements and multiple measurements) have been investigated. The best settle time of a 10:1 measurement of high resistance ratio has been estimated to be about three times the time constant of the circuit involving the resistors. This constant, in turn, depends on the highest value resistor. By means of mathematical estimators, suitable numbers of the readings of the detector have been established in order to minimize noises. A compatibility test at 100 TΩ has shown that the best precision of the commercial bridge is achieved utilizing the multiple measurements mode with the auto update function. This mode also allows the characterization of a resistor as a function of the settle time. This characterization can be useful for the owner of the resistor who can request the laboratory to perform the calibration of the resistor with the settle time which is necessary for him.

Artykuł omawia budowę stanowiska pomiarowego do szybkiego testowania jakości elementów metalowo-gumowych. W oparciu o analizę potrzeb zaprojektowano konstrukcję i dokonano doboru elementów pomiarowych stanowiska i akwizycji danych, takich jak: rozwiązanie mechaniczne, czujniki przemieszczenia, siły nacisku i temperatury, kartę pomiarową. Dzięki oprogramowaniu pomiarowemu zbudowanemu w oparciu o LabView uzyskano dokładny i prosty przyrząd spełniający wymagania pomiaru przemysłowego.
The article discusses the construction of a measuring station for quick testing of quality of metal-rubber parts. Based on the needs analysis, the structure was defined as well as measuring components of the station and data acquisition such as a mechanical solution, displacement, force and temperature sensors, DAQ card and software based on LabView. As a result accurate and simple device that meets the requirements of industrial measuring was obtained.

The effect of selected transition metal powders (Zn, Ti, Mo and nano-Fe), in the concentration range from 0-5 wt.%, when used as activators in the highly calorific mixture Fe-KClO4 (containing 16 wt.% KClO4), has been studied. It has been established that zinc and molybdenum powders can act as factors in decreasing the activation temperature and increasing the effectiveness of the oxidant used. Titanium powder increases the oxygen conversion rate and the amount of energy released. Iron nano-powder has only a slight influence on the above mentioned parameters.

The paper presents the results of research work on linear FSW (Friction Stir Welding) joining aluminum alloys AA2024-T3 of 0.5 mm in thickness. The study was conducted on properly adapted numerical controlled 3 axis milling machine using a ceramic tool and special designed fastening device. The tool dimensions have been estimated according to the algorithm shown in the literature [4]. All joints were made of end-to end (butt) configuration under different welding speed. The rotational speed of the tool and tool offset was constant. The effect of selected technological parameters on the quality of the joint was analyzed. Produced butt joint have been subjected to a static tensile testing to identify mechanical features of the materials of joints compared to parent materials. Measurements of micro hardness HV in the plastically formed stir zone of joint and in the parent material have been carried out. Axial and radial welding forces in the joining region were recorded during the tests and their dependency from the welding parameters was studied. Based on the results of strength tests the efficiency of joints for sheets of 0.5 mm in thicknesses oscillated up to 96% compared to the parent material. It has been found that for given parameters the correct, free of defects joints were obtained. The paper also presents the results of low-cycle fatigue tests of obtained FSW joints. The use of a ceramic tool in the FSW process allows to obtain welds with higher strength than conventional tools. The results suggests that FSW can be potentially applied to joining aluminum alloys.
