Opis:
The paper is an attempt to show how to introduce elements of distance teaching in philology studies. The key feature of these studies is that the most frequent method of education are workshops and seminars, at which the master-student relationship dominates and the direct thought exchange is fundamental and irreplaceable by any other form of the didactic offer. It appears however, that new technologies can be made use of, along with certain types of distance teaching, despite troubles with breaching the psychological barrier and technical problems. The paper gives factual results of such attempts, illustrating them with products created by lecturers and students. The presentation focuses on the effects of using the new technologies at B.A. and master’s degree seminars on methods of foreign language teaching, literature and linguistics in the past two years, at the Institute of Roman Philology.

The paper presents the profile of Computer Aided Design (CAD) and Computer Aided Engineering (CAE) programs in the student teaching process. There are presented the CAD/CAE programs and the teaching process at the technical university is described. Teaching aids, which support teaching of students, are listed and explained. It is described the 3D printing and reverse engineering technology, which closely correspond with the CAD/CAE programs.
W artykule omówiono wykorzystanie programów typu CAD/CAE do komputerowego wspomagania projektowania oraz obliczeń inżynierskich w procesie nauczania przyszłych inżynierów. Przedstawiono programy z rodziny CAD/CAE oraz opisano proces kształcenia studentów na uczelni wyższej. Wymieniono i omówiono środki dydaktyczne wspomagające nauczanie studentów, a także przybliżono technologię druku 3D oraz inżynierii odwrotnej, które są blisko związane z aplikacjami CAD/CAE.

Animácie algoritmov sa využívajú vo vyučovaní informatiky už od 80-tich rokov dvadsiateho storočia. Počas posledných 35 rokov boli vykonané rôzne výskumy v tejto oblasti, ktoré však v mnohých prípadoch nepotvrdili, že vyučovanie pomocou animácii je efektívnejšie. V tejto publikácii zhrnieme niektoré princípy, ktoré sú dôležité pri tvorbe kvalitných multimediálnych učebných materiálov. Taktiež v krátkosti spomenieme, akým spôsobom sa môžu študenti aktívne zúčastniť vizualizačných procesov. Na záver predstavíme zbierku animácií, ktorú sme vytvorili na podporu vyučovania algoritmov a programovania na Univerzite J. Selyeho v Komárne.
Algorithm animations have been used in the teaching of informatics since 80-years of the twentieth century. Over the last 35 years, various researches have been conducted in this area. These studies, however, have not confirmed in many cases that using animations and visualizations is effective in the learning process. In this publication, we summarize some of the principles that are important for creating high-quality multimedia teaching materials. We also briefly mention how students can actively participate in the visualization processes. Finally, we introduce a collection of animations, which we developed to support teaching algorithms and programming at J. Selye University in Komárno.

Teaching materials are the primary source of input in the language classroom. The potential of English language teaching (ELT) materials to preserves and transmit our culture, value, identity, and language make it significant for socio-cultural sustainability. The materials developed by the National Council of Education and Research Training (NCERT) are far and wide running study materials in primary and secondary schools in India. India exhibits a massive variety of cultures, customs, languages, and religious beliefs. The selection and development of apt materials is, therefore, a matter of serious deliberation. The centrally developed material, despite numerous benefits, often lacks in representing different groups of students, especially the backward and marginalized ones. The contents, in most cases, are representative of the mainstream. Therefore, the study suggests teachers developed supplementary materials to which learners from all the groups can relate. The researcher has taken the context of Jharkhand and illustrates self-developed supplementary materials prepared using contents from learners’ social and cultural backgrounds. The article offers various suggestions on how to develop such materials that could bring socio-cultural equity in the classroom, making a significant contribution to social sustainability.
Materiały dydaktyczne są głównym źródłem informacji w klasie językowej. Potencjał materiałów do nauczania języka angielskiego (ELT) w ochronie i przekazywaniu naszej kultury, wartości, tożsamości i języka sprawia, że są one istotne z perspektywy zrównoważonego rozwoju społeczno-kulturowego. Materiały opracowane przez National Council of Education and Research Training (NCERT) są szeroko stosowanymi materiałami do nauki w szkołach podstawowych i średnich w Indiach. Indie wykazują ogromną różnorodność kultur, zwyczajów, języków i przekonań religijnych. Wybór i opracowanie odpowiednich materiałów jest zatem kwestią poważnej refleksji. W materiale opracowanym centralnie, mimo licznych korzyści, często brakuje reprezentacji różnych grup uczniów, zwłaszcza tych zacofanych i marginalizowanych. Treści w większości przypadków są reprezentatywne dla głównego nurtu. W związku warto zasugerować nauczycielom opracowanie materiałów uzupełniających, do których mogą odnieść się uczniowie ze wszystkich grup. W artykle przyjęto perspektywę Jharkhanda i przedstawiono własne materiały uzupełniające wykorzystujące treści pochodzące ze środowisk społecznych i kulturowych uczniów. Artykuł zawiera konretne sugestie dotyczące opracowywania takich materiałów, które mogłyby zapewnić równość społeczno-kulturową w klasie, wnosząc znaczący wkład w zrównoważony rozwój społeczny.

This study investigates the position, content and pedagogy of Landeskunde in proficiency skills-focussed Dutch foreign language teaching. It analyses the course book used most frequently in Dutch secondary education for German as a foreign language: Neue Kontakte. This research examines the position of cultural content in course materials and in explicitly formulated learning goals. Moreover, it is investigated what cultural content is introduced and whether this is either integrated in language proficiency training and connected to the world of the learners. The results show that Neue Kontakte offers a broad range of cultural topics which are either linked to the Netherlands or Dutch or to the learners’ personal environment. Additionally, Landeskunde is integrated in language proficiency exercises. On the other hand, its status is considered weak; no cultural learning goals are formulated and hardly any repetition of cultural content and little critical reflection on the foreign and the own culture are observed.

The article is a presentation of the teaching materials which were one of the key elements for the preparation and implementation of the training module under the project: “Implementation of the educational programme »Politics – Religion – Security. Conflicts and attempts to resolve them« basing on international cooperation.” This publication is made up of the following parts: presentation of the main assumptions of the project; presentation of entities involved in the implementation of the project; description of ideas underlying the project and its objectives (“Issues”); discussion of the contents of twelve sets of teaching materials (textbooks) and academic documents (syllabuses) developed by project promoters. The educational program prepared by the authors has been dedicated to Polish students – project participants. The project has been aimed at preparing its participants for their future roles as employees or employers effectively functioning in the religiously and culturally diversified labour market. Having this objective in mind, twelve sets of teaching materials have been profiled, which address issues covering the time space from the Antiquity until the present. These issues are linked with: biblical texts; ancient Greek philosophy and tragedy; the legal and political situation of first Christians; the Church at the late Antiquity; the medieval project of uniting Europe; modern times and ideologies; modern sources of totalitarianism; the religious dimension of political ideologies; relations between the Church and nationalists; contemporary Catholic social teaching.

In letzter Zeit ist das Interesse am Doktorandenstudium allgemein angestiegen, auch bei Germanistikstudenten. Infolgedessen ist die Nachfrage nach Lehrmaterialien für Doktoranden auch gewachsen. Mein eigenes Interesse am Studium auf der dritten Stufe hat mich dazu veranlasst, die Analyse im Bereich der für Doktoranden geeigneten Lehrmaterialien vorzunehmen. Das Ziel der Untersuchung war eines der verfügbaren, neulich veröffentlichten Lehrbücher für Studierenden der dritten Stufe zu analysieren, um den Inhalt dieser Publikation unter didaktischem und inhaltlichem Gesichtspunkt zu überprüfen. „Lehrmaterialien für Germanistik-Doktorandenkurse“ (2021) ist eine der jüngsten Veröffentlichungen, weshalb sie der Gegenstand der Besprechung ist. Es hebt sich auch von anderen Büchern für Doktoranden der Germanistik ab, da es das Ergebnis der internationalen Zusammenarbeit zwischen drei Universitäten aus Polen, aus der Tschechischen Republik und der Slowakischen Republik ist. Es richtet sich jedoch an alle, die sich für Germanistik-Doktorandenkurse interessieren, unabhängig von ihrem Herkunftsland. Kann das Buch gleichzeitig die Bedürfnisse von Dozenten und Doktoranden der Germanistik aus verschiedenen wissenschaftlichen Disziplinen (Literaturwissenschaft, Sprachwissenschaft, Kulturwissenschaft) erfüllen? Die Ergebnisse der Analyse zeigen, dass die Erstellung eines solchen thematisch umfassenden Buches dank internationaler Zusammenarbeit realisierbar ist. Nach der Analyse kann man zum Schluss kommen, dass es sich um ein Werk handelt, das für Studierende der Germanistik unabhängig von ihrer Spezialisierung von Nutzen ist.
Recently, interest in doctoral studies picked up in general, including among German studies students. As a result, the demand for teaching materials for doctoral students has increased. My own interest in third-level study has prompted me to undertake an analysis of certain teaching resources suitable for doctoral students. The aim of the research was to analyze one of the available, recently published textbooks for PhD students in order to review this publication from a didactic and content point of view. “Lehrmaterialien für Germanistik-Doktorandenkurse” (2021) is one of the most recent publications, which is why it is the subject of the review. It also stands out from other books for doctoral students in German studies, as it is the result of international cooperation between three universities from Poland, the Czech Republic and the Slovak Republic. It is aimed at anyone interested in doctoral courses of German studies, regardless of their home country. Is the book able to simultaneously meet the needs of lecturers and doctoral students of German studies from different academic disciplines (literature, linguistic and cultural studies)? The results of the analysis show that the production of such thematically comprehensive book is feasible thanks to international cooperation. After the analysis, it can be concluded that this is a work that is useful for students of German studies regardless of their specialization.

Providing a broad and detailed definition of pragmatic competence can be a challenging task, mainly due to an interdisciplinary character of pragmatics itself. This article discusses the main characteristics of pragmatic competence and aims at providing a detailed description of how it was perceived by linguist since it was first described. The approaches to foreign language teaching as well as the notion of fluency have transformed throughout the years and so has our perception of pragmatic competence. Rapidly growing popularity of mobile technologies, common access to information as well as the forming of a multi-cultural society make foreign language teaching face new challenges and opportunities. The article focuses on the place pragmatic competence takes in a modern-day language teaching and argues its importance in intercultural communication and achieving proficiency in foreign language.

The objective of the article is to present some valid arguments for a “new” didactics of early foreign language teaching. The foreign language teaching in Poland has become an obligatory part of the curriculum in kindergartens and pre-schools (for 5 years-olds), and from the beginning of Sept. 2017 it will also concern all 3 and 4 years old children in pre-school education. Didactic principles and materials for teaching foreign languages that are applied in kindergartens are designed mainly for grade 1-3 of the primary school and cannot be automatically adopted for the earlier educational stages. The didactic process must be founded on linguistic and glottodidactic study of natural language acquisition, bilingualism and bilingual education. In the article some most important differences between the language learning process in the primary school and kindergarten are discussed and conclusions for the shaping of the language teaching and learning situation in pre-schools are drawn. In the last part some selected examples of the “new” teaching forms and activities will be presented.

The objective of the article is to analyse some selected materials for teaching English as a foreign language, designed mainly for grade 1–3 of the primary school, with the goal to answer the question whether these materials could be also used successfully and efficiently with 3–5-year old children. Early English learning materials are compared with Polish integrated learning materials. The analysis results in some conclusions for the didactic process in kindergartens. In accordance with the theoretical issues some principles for the shaping of didactic materials, teaching forms and activities, adequate tasks and contents of a language lesson are described.

Artykuł stanowi głos w dyskusji nad sposobami rozwijania sprawności słuchania oraz mówienia w nauczaniu polskiego języka medycznego. Przyczynkiem do napisania tekstu były konkluzje płynące z analizy koncepcji rozwijania sprawności językowych przedstawionych we wstępach do podręczników do nauki (polskiego) języka medycznego. W pierwszej części przedstawione zostały dotychczasowe prace na temat podręczników i pomocy do nauczania polskiego języka medycznego. W drugiej części opisano techniki rozwijania sprawności słuchania i mówienia powszechnie przyjęte w metodyce nauczania polskiego języka ogólnego oraz do celów specjalistycznych. Następnie dokonano weryfikacji mieszczących się we wstępach do podręczników deklaracji oraz koncepcji autorów poprzez ich zestawienie ze stanem rzeczywistym materiałów zawartych w książkach. Autorka omówiła również techniki nabywania oraz rozwijania umiejętności słuchania i mówienia w podręcznikach do języka medycznego.
The article is a voice in the discussion on methods of developing listening and speaking skills in teaching Polish medical language. The reason for writing the text were the conclusions from the analysis of the concept of developing language skills presented in (Polish) medical language textbooks. The first part of the text presents the work done so far on textbooks and aids for teaching Polish medical language. It also describes the commonly accepted methods of teaching Polish general language and, for specialist purposes, techniques for developing listening and speaking skills. Part II verifies the declarations and concepts of the authors with the actual state of the materials contained in the textbooks’ introductions. The author also discussed the techniques of acquiring and developing listening and speaking skills in medical language textbooks.

Artykuł stanowi próbę oceny wybranych materiałów glottodydaktycznych (podręczników) do nauki języka ukraińskiego, wykorzystywanych w procesie dydaktycznym na poziomie szkolnictwa wyższego od lat 90. XX wieku. W pierwszej części artykułu zaprezentowano rodzaje materiałów glottodydaktycznych oraz omówiono ich miejsce i funkcje w procesie nauczania i uczenia się języka obcego. W drugiej części artykułu poddano ocenie wybrane podręczniki do nauki języka ukraińskiego, uwzględniając kryteria zewnętrzne, dotyczące np. programów nauczania oraz wewnętrzne, odnoszące się m.in. do potrzeb ucznia czy nauczyciela. Оценка учебных материалов для преподавания и обучения украинскому языку как иностранному в высшем образовании Данная статья является попыткой оценить отдельные глоттодидактические материалы (учебники) для обучения украинскому языку, используемые в учебном процессе на уровне высшего образования с девяностых годов ХХ века. В первой части этой статьи были представлены типы глоттодидактических материалов, кроме того, было обсуждено их место и функции в процессе преподавания и изучения иностранного языка. Во второй части данной статьи была предпринята попытка оценить выбранные учебники для изучения украинского языка, принимая во внимание как внешние критерии, касающиеся, например, учебных планов, так и внутренние критерии, связанные, например, с потребностями студента и преподавателя.
This article is an attempt to assess selected glottodidactic materials (textbooks) for learning the Ukrainian language, used in the teaching process at the level of higher education since the 1990s. In the first part of the article the types of glottodidactic materials are presented and their place and function in the processes of teaching and learning a foreign language is discussed. In the second part selected textbooks for learning the Ukrainian language are assessed, taking into account external criteria concerning, for instance, Curricula, and internal, related to the needs of a student or teacher.

Any nation that cares about its future should provide the young generation with a good education. In the 21st century, it is essential to provide them with the skills and knowledge they will need to be successful innovators in the 21st century. The article analyses the main aspects of a STEM learning strategy, which provides students with an interdisciplinary approach to learning. Both the advantageous and disadvantageous issues of this learning approach are revealed in the article. The peculiarities of STEAM learning have also been emphasised. The article notes the specific practices of applying STEM/ STEAM learning in the USA, European Union and Ukraine, specified by educational and professional training programmes. Special emphasis is put on the perspectives of these approaches to education. STEM educational programme focuses on science, technology, engineering and mathematics. The aim is to help better prepare students in these areas of learning and create practical applications for how these lessons apply to the real world. Lately, there has been a growing emphasis on STEAM that is a new educational discipline that engages students not only in the subjects of Science, Technology, Engineering and Math but also the Arts, which is the ability to think, discuss, dispute the problematic issues, to encourage and develop inquiry, curiosity, ability to find solutions to a problem, creativity in the finding of the necessary solutions, both practical skills and appreciation for collaborations. It is opposed to traditional teaching models and aims to bring the disciplines together. Modern STEM education promotes skills such as critical thinking, problem-solving, higher-order thinking, and design and behavioural competencies such as perseverance, adaptability, cooperation, organisation, and responsibility.
