Opis:: The article is based on an analysis of Polish and international legal acts, government programs and literature, and aims at presenting the concept and the scope of consumer policy in the period of systemic transformation in Poland. The publication features an analysis of the major factors shaping consumer policy in Poland in the years 1989-2004. Selected international legal acts affecting consumer protection in the years 1989-1997 were also analyzed. Elements of consumer policy present in selected governmental economic programs in the period of transformation were synthesized. It was assumed that consumer policy in the period of systemic transformation indirectly resulted from the economic policy of the government. Its shape was primarily affected by the social and economic transformation occurring since 1989 and the birth of free-market economy. The process of adjusting the Polish legislation to the European Union standards, which began in 1991, and subsequent accession to the European Union in 2004 also played an important role.

Opis:: The obligate oomycete Sclerospora graminicola (Sacc.) Schroet, is the incitant of downy mildew disease, which is the main constraint in pearl millet production worldwide. Different elicitors from Trichoderma hamatum UOM 13, e.g. mycelial extract and cell wall glucans, were assessed for their resistance elicitation efficiency and the possible underlying mechanisms. Both mycelial extract and cell wall glucans of T. hamatum UOM 13 positively influenced seed quality parameters of pearl millet, significantly enhanced seed germination and seedling vigor in comparison to the untreated control. Seed priming with cell wall glucan elicitors of T. hamatum UOM 13 suppressed downy mildew on susceptible pearl millet seedlings under greenhouse conditions by induction of systemic host resistance. Of the different elicitor delivery methods tested, transplant root dip was more effective than seed treatment and foliar spray. A combination of transplant root dip + seed treatment + foliar spray was significantly more effective than the single delivery methods. The induced resistance corresponded to up regulation of genes of important defense proteins upon pathogen inoculation. Transcripts of genes of defense enzymes glucanase, phenylalanine ammonia lyase, peroxidase and polyphenoloxidase were significantly increased due to the T. hamatum UOM elicitor effect. Expression of hydroxyproline-rich glycoprotein genes, known to play an important role in cell wall cross-linking, were also up regulated in response to T. hamatum UOM cell wall glucan treatment. This study emphasizes the role of T. hamatum UOM as a potential elicitor of downy mildew resistance in pearl millet and presents novel insights into the involvement of important defense proteins mediating such as resistance trigger.

Opis:: Tomato (Solanum lycopersicum L.) is attacked by Pseudomonas syringae pv. tomato causing heavy damage to the crops. The present study focused on the application of aqueous fruit extracts of neem (Azadirachta indica L.) on a single node of aseptically raised tomato plants. Observations were done, and the changes in the activity and isoenzyme profile of polyphenol oxidase (PPO) and lysozyme, both at the site of treatment as well as away from it, were noted. The results demonstrate that neem extract could significantly induce the activities of both the enzymes as well as upregulate the de novo expression of additional PPO isoenzymes. Induction of systemic acquired resistance (SAR) by natural plant extracts is a potent eco-friendly crop protection method.

Opis:: The article presents the concept of sozology, formulated by Walery Goetel in the 1960s, an innovative proposal to establish an autonomous and interdisciplinary branch of science concerning the protection of the environment. The essence of this idea was to determine the subject matter of the postulated branch science that would include the protection of the natural environment as well as the social environment, which was a major breakthrough and is now an indisputable axiom of ecology, ecophilosophy, the study into the protection of the life of human envi-ronment, and the idea of sustainable development. Furthermore, the text contains a short biography of the Polish scientist and presents the reception of Goetl in modern Polish ecological thought in the form of systemic sozolo-gy and sozophilosophy.
Artykuł prezentuje sformułowaną przez Walerego Goetla w latach 60. XX w. koncepcję sozologii – nowatorską propozycję ustanowienia autonomicznej i interdyscyplinarnej nauki o ochronie środowiska. Istotą tego pomysłu było określenie przedmiotu postulowanej nauki obejmującego ochronę nie tylko środowiska przyrodniczego, ale także i społecznego, co stanowiło prawdziwy przełom a współcześnie jest niepodważalnym aksjomatem ekolo-gii, ekofilozofii, nauki o ochronie życia środowiska ludzkiego, a także idei zrównoważonego rozwoju. Tekst zawiera także krótką biografię uczonego polskiego oraz ukazuje recepcję Goetla we współczesnej polskiej myśli ekologicznej w postaci idei sozologii systemowej oraz sozofilozofii.

Opis:: Acetamiprid is a neurotoxine belonging to the neonicotinoid group. This active substance bas contact and stomach action and acts on the insect central nervous system as agonist of the acetylocholine in nicotinic acetylocholine receptors. Acetamiprid bas translaminar and systemic proprieties in plants and nowadays is one of the most widely used insecticides against pollen beetle (Meligethes aeneus F.) in Poland as a component of a commercial product Mospilan 20 SP. Constant and strong selective pressure of insecticides resulted in resistance of pollen beetle (PB) to many active substances used in Poland. It also influences beneficial fauna especially pollinators. The aim of the study was to determine the effectiveness of acetamiprid against pollen beetle in the period of 15 days that is characterized by rapid elongation of oilseed rape plants. The dynamics of mortal action of acetamiprid against pollen beetle and disappearance of acetamiprid in plant tissues were determined. Short analysis of acetamiprid potential toxic action against pollinators, especially against honeybee (Apis mellifera L), predators and parasitoids was made.
Acetamipryd jest silną neurotoksyną należącą do chemicznej grupy neonikotynoidów wykorzystywaną szeroko w chemicznej ochronie roślin. Ta substancja aktywna działa na centralny system nerwowy owadów na drodze kontaktowej oraz żołądkowej. Jej molekularne działanie polega na agonistycznym, w stosunku do acetylocholiny, działaniu na postsynaptyczne receptory tego neurotransmitera. Acetamipryd ma właściwości przenikania do tkanek roślin i oddziaływania systemowego. Obecnie w Polsce należy on do najpopularniejszych insektycydów w zwalczaniu słodyszka rzepakowego (Meligethes aeneus F.) oraz wielu innych szkodników jako komponent środka ochrony roślin - Mospilan 20 SP. Trwający już ponad 50 lat stały nacisk selekcyjny chemicznymi środkami spo-wodował u słodyszka rzepakowego w Polsce narastanie zjawiska odporności na wiele substancji aktywnych. Acetamipryd wpływa również na faunę pożyteczną, głównie na owady zapylające. Celem pracy było określenie dynamiki zanikania acetamiprydu w tkankach roślin rzepaku ozimego w okresie 15 dni od zabiegu chemicznego w fazach szybkiego wzrostu roślin oraz równoległe zbadanie jego toksyczności w stosunku do słodyszka rzepakowego, który jest w tym okresie głównym szkodnikiem atakującym rzepak. Na podstawie uzyskanych wyników oraz danych dotyczących acetamiprydu zamieszczonych w badaniach toksykologicmych tej substancji chemicznej przeprowadzono analizę zagrożenia działania tego insektycydu dla owadów zapylających, a szczególnie dla pszczoły miodnej (Apis melliera L.), drapieżców i parazytoidów.
