Opis:: The paper presents a novel approach to system dependability problem. The analysed systems and networks – characterised by different sets of features – are considered as a union of all their resources essential for the predicted tasks realisation. The system dependability is discussed with respect to the occurrence of incidents and treats that may cause to damage the system resources and – in consequence – to the collapse of the executed tasks. The maintenance policy system is based on two main concepts: detection of unfriendly events and system responses to them. The proposed analysis is realised from the user’s point of view, focusing on functional features described by business services available in the system.

Opis:: The paper proposes a method of reliability and functional analysis related to discrete transport systems. The proposed analysis is based on modelling and simulating of the system behaviour. Monte Carlo simulation is used for proper reliability and functional parameters calculation. The simulator is built using Scalable Simulation Framework (SSF). No restriction on the system structure and on a kind of distribution is the main advantage of the method. The paper presents some exemplar system modelling. The authors stress the problem of influence of the reliability parameters for final functional measures (required time of delivery) – the key value to calculate the availability of the system. They also propose to measure the economic quality of discrete transport system by “profit function”. The presented problem is practically essential for defining an organization of vehicle maintenance and transportation system logistics.

Opis:: The paper presents an approach to critical situations analysis related to discrete transportation systems (DTS). The critical situation is understood as sudden shortage of some system recourses resulting in the transportation system performance degradation. The analysis is realized based on availability calculation of DTS. The system is described by the formal model, which includes reliability and functional parameters of DTS as well as human resources – drivers and management system. The availability and average availability of the system, defined in a functional way, is discussed as a function of different essential parameters of DTS. The proposed analysis is based on the modelling and simulating of the system behaviour using Monte-Carlo approach. The paper presents some exemplar systems – based on real Polish Post DTS – modelling and results.

Opis:: A discrete system performing transport tasks (carriage of goods between the starting and ending points) using the vehicles of limited capacity and reliability is analyzed. The quality of transport tasks depend on the availability of transportation means (cars, roads, etc.), their functional properties (services) and reliability (faults and renewals) and of the system organization (dispatchers / system managers). Unfriendly system events affecting the realization of transport tasks are classified. A dependability model of the discrete transport system is considered as an unreliable service network. Outlined the idea of a maintenance policy system and a problem of synthesis of the discrete transport system.

Opis:: The paper present the various aspects of the process of testing of the ERP system’s dependability .This process has been systematized using the procedures taken from the Polish Standards and adopted for purposes of the ERP system. Thanks to an introduction of same normalization and the unification of terminology, the testing of the systems dependability under different conditions, as well as for different systems, will be possible. A review of MS Axapta system in relation to the dependability of the functioning of its particular elements, has also been carried out. This was based on previously presented instructions of the dependability test.

Opis:: The subject of this paper deals with dependability of machine systems base on selected usable characteristics. In the subsystem man-machine and environment, determined tasks are carried out. The sequence of activity is following: man handles machine, which in turn makes the environment deliver desired reaction, e.g. processing or transportation. A machine and desired reaction of environment will recognize the positive effect of above activities as carrying out of set task. It is also of utmost importance that the man and machine's impact on environment is efficient and harmless. Therefore the selection of an adequate machine and its operator to carry out the given task is crucial. The circumstances considered as undesired for task implementation are identified as hazard to man and machine. Within the endangered man - machine and environment subsystem, we can distinguish following phases in the machine degradation process: worthy, partially worthy, partially unworthy, critically unworthy and totally unworthy. The selection of adequate means towards achieving set goals is considered important, and, subsequently, the description of selected machine and human (as operator and decision maker) attributes has been undertaken. The basic attributes of man and machine complex are: adequacy, dependability, safety, durability and effectiveness. Adequacy, described as common machine property, turns out to be a collection of four attributes: functionality, configurability, coverage, and programmability. Reliability, on closer inspection, as a combined property of man -machine complex, is described by four attributes: reliability, redundancy, faultlessness and availability. Safety, as a man - machine - environment property is described by a collection of five attributes: protectionability, hazardousness, harmlessness, safeguardability and deleteriousness. Durability as a machine property can be described by five attributes: strength, refractoriness, maintainability, supportability and serviceability. Effectiveness as a man - machine system property is described by four attributes: efficiency, capability, economically and managementability. It is acceptable to assume that the attributes mentioned above can be of use when selecting machines for outdoor exploitation and facilitating of selected tasks. Particular significance is in the relations between basic attributes of the man - machine - environment subsystem, namely: dependability is the starting point for safety and effectiveness, durability assures dependability, safety and effectiveness, adequacy guarantees a successful outcome of all named attributes of man - machine system.

Opis:: The article discusses a significant problem, which is the analysis of the dependability of the national distribution system. The distribution of selected failure rates was analysed in two perspectives: dependability analysis at the local utility company level, and for the distribution power system. In the first part of the paper failure rates are analysed for five domestic utility companies. The second part presents an analysis of the distribution of SAIDI, SAIFI and MAIFI indicators for domestic distribution system operators in 2007–2012.
W artykule przedstawiono istotny problem, jakim jest analiza niezawodności krajowego systemu dystrybucyjnego. Przeprowadzono analizę rozkładu wybranych wskaźników awaryjności w dwóch ujęciach: analizę niezawodności wyznaczoną z poziomu zakładu energetycznego oraz dla dystrybucyjnego systemu energetycznego. W pierwszej części artykułu przedstawiono analizę awaryjności dla pięciu krajowych zakładów energetycznych. W drugiej części zaprezentowano analizę rozkładu wartości wskaźników SAIDI, SAIFI i MAIFI krajowych operatorów systemu dystrybucyjnego wyznaczonych z lat 2007–2012.

Opis:: The paper is concerned with the analysis of under-keel clearance of ships based on real data from Szczecin Maritime Office. Using probabilistic method for UKC assessment give it possibility to create the distribution of under-keel clearance in several ship’s passages and in further step to determine the probability of ship’s grounding accident during the port approach. The results of using this type of model could be used in risk assessment of ships entering to the ports, therefore it is possible to used probabilistic model in Maritime Office employees’ everyday decision making practice. Research results present verification of probabilistic model, based on data from Vessel Traffic Service database and probability of touching the bottom during ships’ passages on Swinoujscie – Szczecin waterway. Moreover there are presented examples of these situations when entering to the port for analysed ships is not allowed according to the model.

Opis:: The vulnerability of rail transport systems facing flood hazard, increased by the climate change, is a burning issue for the future urban risks management. Analysing the resilience of rail transport systems against flood hazard appears necessary for improving the proper functioning of cities that strongly depend on such critical infrastructures. The critical infrastructures are complex systems in which the components are particularly interdependent. This interdependency implies many failures caused by cascade effect within the system. From dependability methods, this paper provides a global methodology in order to automatically produce the chains of failures caused by cascade effect within a rail transport system facing to a flood hazard.

Opis:: Article presents an overview of some recent developments in the area of mathematical modelling of technical systems’ maintenance decisions with the use of delay-time concept. Thus, the literature overview from 1984-2012 in the analysed research area is given. The problem of time relations occurred in logistic systems performance processes is investigated. Later, the example of DT model implementation in the area of logistic system of sixteen forklifts performance analysis is investigated.
W artykule przedstawiono zagadnienia związane z matematycznym modelowaniem utrzymania systemów technicznych w stanie zdatności z wykorzystaniem koncepcji opóźnień czasowych (DT). Przedstawiono przegląd literatury z badanego obszaru obejmujący okres 1984-2012. Następnie został omówiony problem relacji czasowych w systemach logistycznych. W ostatnim punkcie, został przedstawiony przykład zastosowania modelu DT do oceny niezawodności szesnastu wózków widłowych funkcjonujących w wybranym systemie.
