Digital transformation through innovative and technological development is important for economic growth and competitiveness. Digitization also influences the development of the information society. As research shows, the subject of interest in modern society is sustainable development. The aim of the article is to identify the role of digitalization in the implementation of sustainable development in the context of stakeholders. The analysis showed that the implementation of sustainable development goals is particularly important for stakeholders who, in the era of digitalization, have much greater access to information. In turn, by disclosing the results of implementing sustainable development goals, companies can build long-term relationships with customers, local communities and other stakeholder groups, creating the basis for the future of business development.

Jedną z koncepcji mających na względzie ten aspekt jest paradygmat zrównoważonego rozwoju. Niesie on za sobą konkretne zasady i przesłanki na drodze wdrażania go przez przedsiębiorstwo. Jedną z zalet prowadzenia tego typu praktyk przez przedsiębiorstwo jest zwiększenie zaufania i atrakcyjności dla potencjalnego odbiorcy. By jednak w sposób świadomy przyczyniać się do proekologicznych zachowań potrzebna jest wiedza na temat podstawowych pojęć z obszaru zrówno-ważonego rozwoju. Przedsiębiorstwo może skutecznie i w sposób kreatywny edukować swych konsumentów w zakresie podejmowanych w tym temacie działań.
Today, the companies wishing to remain competitive in the market are required to make their actions not only consistent with the expectations of consumers. What is becoming increasingly important is the concern for the steadily deteriorating ecosystem. One of the concepts regarding this aspect is the paradigm of sustainable development. It entails specific terms and conditions for its implementation by a company. One of the advantages of such a practice is the increase of confidence and attractiveness of a company to the potential recipient. However, in order to consciously contribute to pro-ecological behaviours it is necessary to possess knowledge about basic concepts in the field of sustainable development. The essence of the topic presented in this study is the importance of inclusion in the strategy of the sustainable development of education in this area. The aim of the presented content is to realize the significance of raising awareness about the importance of education, so that the company could effectively and creatively educate its consumers in the field undertaken in this topic. The effect will be to raise awareness and stimulate creative activities undertaken by a company.

Many of the problems that the world faces today appeared as the result of unstable development. Global climate change, resource depletion, space debris, poverty, inequality, and threats to global security are the main but not the only challenges for modern humanity. The important issue in studying the problems of sustainable development of the countries in the world is the development of strategies that would give an opportunity to avoid environmental and social catastrophes. The correspondence analysis is used to identify the relationship between the Happy Planet Index (which is an aggregate indicator of achievements in the key aspects of human development, such as life duration and quality, distribution uniformity, access to knowledge, and preservation of environment) and Gross National Income (one of the basic metrics of the population welfare level). The analysis led to the conclusion that the income level of the population is not the main factor in assessing the level of sustainable development of a country. The obtained results can give important and useful information for social institutions and politicians.

As a member state of the European Union, Poland is committed to sustainability by endorsing the principles of sustainable development in its Constitution and adopting European standards. However, to overcome the societal, environmental and economic demands, a society needs to integrate sustainability concepts into daily practices, education playing a crucial role in achieving this objective. This paper aims to provide an overview of the education for sustainability in Poland and its impact on Polish society. Designed as a narrative literature review, the paper reports on how education for sustainability was carried out between 1994 and 2013, building a detailed picture of the educational programs and actions conducted in business and non –profit organizations. Additionally it is revealed that although challenging, creating community-based learning can increase people’s awareness and potential to contribute to a sustainable future by reducing the de-coupling effect between organizational actual practices and declarations.

Celem artykułu jest zaprezentowanie modelowego podejścia do realizacji usług audytu wewnętrznego w obszarze raportowania niefinansowego. Aby go osiągnąć, przeprowadzono analizę literatury oraz aktów prawnych w przedmiotowym zakresie. Wnioski sformułowano, opierając się na wnioskowaniu indukcyjnym i dedukcyjnym, przeprowadzonym metodą analizy i syntezy. Artykuł ukazuje modelowy schemat realizacji zadań audytowych w zakresie raportowania niefinansowego. Wskazano w nim przesłanki przyjęcia do planu audytu wewnętrznego zadania zapewniającego z zakresu raportowania niefinansowego oraz opisano przebieg realizacji zadania. Efektem prac audytowych w przedmiotowym obszarze jest wewnętrzny raport poświadczający, który stanowi zapewnienie kierownictwa o rzetelności, jakości i przejrzystości informacji zawartych w sprawozdaniu niefinansowym. Tekst jest głosem w dyskusji na temat potrzeby atestacji informacji niefinansowych oraz wskazaniem roli, jaką może odegrać audytor wewnętrzny w procesie raportowania niefinansowego.
The aim of the article is to present a model approach to the implementation of internal audit services in the area of non-financial reporting. In order to achieve it, an analysis of the literature and legal acts in this area was carried out. Conclusions were formulated based on inductive and deductive inference carried out by the method of analysis and synthesis. The article shows a model diagram of the implementation of audit tasks in the field of non-financial reporting. It indicates the premises for accepting the assurance task in the field of non-financial reporting into the internal audit plan and describes the course of the task implementation. The result of audit work in this area is an internal certifying report, which is the management’s assurance of the reliability, quality, and transparency of information contained in the non-financial report. The article is a voice in the discussion of an internal auditor’s role in the non-financial reporting process.

Celem niniejszego artykułu było przedstawienie istoty, przesłanek zawierania i warunków powodzenia bilateralnych partnerstw między organizacjami pozarządowymi (ang. non-governmental organization – NGO) a sektorem biznesu. W części pierwszej artykułu wyjaśniono istotę partnerstwa międzysektorowego, opisano również strategie, którymi mogą kierować się NGO, wchodząc w relacje z przedsiębiorstwami. W części drugiej przedstawiono przesłanki inicjowania tego rodzaju współpracy oraz potencjalne korzyści, jakie niesie ona dla partnerów. Część trzecia zawiera opis warunków, jakie muszą być spełnione, aby przedmiotowe partnerstwo przyniosło oczekiwane rezultaty.
The aim of that article is to introduce the essence, premises of forming bilateral partnerships between NGOs and business sector and moreover to present the conditions to be fulfilled to make these partnerships’ successful. First part of the article focuses on the key features of intersectional partnership and it describes some strategies which should be taken into deeper consideration by NGOs before getting into partnering relationships with enterprises. Second part is divided into two sections in which initiating cooperation premises are presented and then would –be advantages are described. The last but not least part of the article speaks about conditions which must be met to make the future partnership successful for all its members and partners.

Dziś już zgadzamy się co do tego, że kultura stoi u podstawy zrozumienia wzajemnych zależności między kwestiami ekonomicznymi, społecznymi czy środowiskowymi. Kultura znajduje się w centrum zainteresowania polityki zrównoważonego rozwoju, co znajduje również odzwierciedlenie w ponadnarodowych, a następnie krajowych, regionalnych i lokalnych strategiach. Podstawowym tematem podjętym w niniejszym tekście jest pokazanie, jak zmieniają się postrzeganie i role kultury we współczesnym zarządzaniu publicznym w Polsce w kontekście wdrażania koncepcji rozwoju zrównoważonego. Polem badawczym były dokumenty strategiczne, które poddano kilkustopniowej analizie treści. Doprowadziło to do ciekawych wniosków na wielu polach, mających znaczenie również dla praktyki zarządzania.
Nowadays, we agree that culture is at the heart of understanding the interrelationship between economic, social and environmental issues. Culture is at the center of interest for sustainable development policy, which is also reflected in transnational, national, regional and local strategies. The main problem undertaken in this text is to show how the perception and role of culture in modern public management in Poland changes in the context of implementing the concept of sustainable development. The research field was the strategic documents subjected to a multi-stage content analysis. They led to interesting conclusions in many fields, also relevant for management practice.

Ethical leadership is of significant importance in every organization and the organizational practice in general, because the leaders who encourage ethical behaviour and activity inspire others to follow their example. Ethical leadership and the implementation of ethical programmes in organizations exist as specific, yet direct ways towards sustainable development, sustainable communities, and sustainable regions, if they contain elements of sustainability. However, it is necessary to initiate an expert discourse with the social partners, begin cooperation with top teams, and formulate common strategies regarding competencies of the leaders and experts in ethics. The aim of our article is to clarify the relevant theoretical framework as well as the concept of sustainability, determine ethical principles and goals, and last but not least, justify their relevance in the context of organizational practice, sustainable development, and sustainable communities.
Przywództwo etyczne w praktyce organizacyjnej w każdej organizacji jest bardzo ważną kwestią, ponieważ przywódcy, którzy zabiegają o etyczne postępowanie i zachowanie, jednocześnie motywują do tego samego innych. Przywództwo etyczne i wdrażanie strategii etycznych w organizacjach mogą być specyficznymi, lecz prostymi drogami do zrównoważonego rozwoju, zrównoważonych społeczności i zrównoważonych regionów, jeśli uwzględniają aspekty zrównoważonego rozwoju. W związku z tym konieczne jest rozpoczęcie specjalistycznego dyskursu, nawiązanie współpracy z czołowymi zespołami, rozwijanie dialogu z partnerami społecznymi i sformułowanie wspólnych strategii dotyczących kompetencji liderów i ekspertów w dziedzinie etyki. W niniejszym artykule Autorka postara się wyjaśnić ramy teoretyczne i koncepcję zrównoważo-nego rozwoju, określić zasady etyczne i cele oraz uzasadnić ich znaczenie z perspektywy praktyki organizacyjnej, zrównoważonego rozwoju i zrównoważo-nych społeczności.

Artykuł podejmuje tematykę zrównoważonego zarządzania projektami w organizacjach non profit. Realizując projekty, organizacje non profit mogą znacząco wpływać na społeczeństwo, stan środowiska czy ogólnie rozumiany dobrobyt, stąd zrównoważone zarządzanie projektami wydaje się szczególnie pożądaną cechą zarządzania projektami w organizacjach non profit. Przesłanek zrównoważonego zarządzania projektami w omawianych organizacjach można upatrywać zarówno w uwarunkowaniach zewnętrznych, jak i wewnętrznych, związanych ze specyfiką funkcjonowania organizacji non profit. Celem niniejszego artykułu jest wskazanie związku źródeł finansowania działalności organizacji non profit z częstością stosowania praktyk zrównoważonego zarządzania projektami (w obszarach Ludzie, Planeta i Dobrobyt). Artykuł bazuje na badaniu ilościowym, jego respondentami były osoby reprezentujące organizacje non profit funkcjonujące w Polsce i posiadające doświadczenie projektowe.
This article addresses the topic of sustainable project management in non-profit organizations. By implementing projects, NPOs can have a significant impact on society, the environment, or well-being of society in general, hence sustainable project management appears to be a particularly desirable feature of project management in NPOs. The rationale for sustainable project management in the organizations in question can be traced back to both external and internal conditions related to the specifics of the NPO’s operation. The aim of this article is to search for a link between the sources of funding for the activities of NPOs and the frequency with which sustainable project management practices (in the areas of People, Planet, and Well-being) are applied during project implementation. The article is based on a quantitative survey; The respondents were people representing nonprofit organizations operating in Poland and having project management experience.

Based on ideas and notions discussed in Nassim Taleb’s books The Black Swan and Antifragile, in this article it is discussed how theories from the new institutional economics can contribute to research on sustainability issues in different areas as well as corporate social responsibility. While sustainability is often considered from the point of view of resilience, the increasing complexity of the world requires to be prepared for unexpected challenges and unpredictable challenges which may lead to crises or system ruin. The focus in this article is on the identification of fragilities as the bottom line of sustainable development – their elimination may prevent ruin and support system survival. This is based on the idea that not only policy for development may be senseless when the possibility of ruin exists. In general, it is also easier to identify problems than possible improvements. The theoretical framework of the new institutional economics will be used to outline some opportunities and challenges for identifying fragilities and creating indicators of unsustainability.

A comparison of environmental sustainability in Belarus, Poland and Ukraine using the Environmental Sustainability Index calculated by the Centre for Environmental Law and Policy of Yale University shows a significant advantage of Belarus over Poland and Ukraine while a slight advantage of Poland over Ukraine. Belarus with ESI score of 52.8 points ranked 47, Ukraine with 44.7 points ranked 108 while Poland with 45.0 points ranked 102 among the 146 classified countries of the world. The state of natural environment in Belarus and Ukraine seems to be much better, while Poland has a distictive advantage with respect to the institutional issues in environmental management. All three countries have roughly similar impact on global environment, of a predominantly negative nature, with Belarus qualifying somewhat better in this respect.

Nowadays companies are more and more often expected to take responsibility for social and environmental impacts of their activities. When doing business social responsible company takes into consideration a wide range of its stakeholder’s expectations but also spread the social and environmental responsibility idea within the supply chain. Suppliers are the key stakeholders which directly influence the producer in terms of costs and quality of the offered products. However suppliers who offer high quality materials or components at an attractive price but at the same time not paying attention to their social and environmental impacts may devastate the buyer sustainability performance. Therefore the companies are trying to support suppliers in assuring their social and environmental responsibility as with this approach both sides benefit. In the study the authors used the case study method to present the proposal of integrating sustainability issues into already functioning supplier development process of a manufacturing company.

Opis:
The importance of transport for sustainable development has become significant at the UN conference on Environment and Development in Rio de Janeiro as early as 1992. In the United Nations 2030 Agenda, which contains a total of 17 sustainability goals, sustainable transport has been anchored as a cross-cutting theme. In particular, emissions associated with transport are a problem for the sustainable development goals and have to be reduced. The objective of this paper is to analyze transport-related indicators in relation to sustainable development in the period from 2005 to 2016 at the national level. The method of secondary analysis is used. The results demonstrate only one indicator corresponding to the goal of sustainable development. However, two indicators do not correspond to a sustainable development in the considered period. Thus, appropriate measures have become necessary for these particular facts promoting a sustainable development.

The paper presents the description of the different definitions of the concept - sustainable development of transport. The analysis of freight and passenger transportation in Ukraine in 2011 and composition of the park and the average age of municipal electric, sea and river vessels is studied. The volume of emissions of pollutants and greenhouse gas emissions from All transport modes in 2011 is analyzed. The framework and priorities of environmental cooperation between Ukraine and EU at the present stage are determined. Based on the concept of sustainable development and European experience the main directions of introduction of the sustainable development Policy of transport in Ukraine are offered.
