Opis:
A new optimization method presented in this work – the Least m-Order Central Moments method, is a generalization of the Least Squares method. It allows fitting a geometric object into a set of points in such a way that the maximum shift between the object and the points after fitting is smaller than in the Least Squares method. This property can be very useful in some engineering tasks, e.g. in the realignment of a railway track or gantry rails. The theoretical properties of the proposed optimization method are analyzed. The computational problems are discussed. The appropriate computational techniques are proposed to overcome these problems. The detailed computational algorithm and formulas of iterative processes have been derived. The numerical tests are presented, in order to illustrate the operation of proposed techniques. The results have been analyzed, and the conclusions were then formulated.

Opis:
Quality control generally requires data of higher quality to quantify the error in any measured quantity. The following work shows that the Proszyhski Reliability Criterion (PRC) is fulfilled if the measurement variance is greater than its prediction function based on the remaining observations. The partial derivatives with respect to the parameters of the residuals' equations are taking the role of the observations within the system. Therefore the prediction variance can be measured. If the prediction function is bounded then a reliable observational system (i.e. each observation has fulfilled the PRC) can be achieved.

Opis:
A set of measuring system with use of laser technique and CCD converter connected to the computer presented in the study, carries out remote and automatic observation of deflection of carrier of rafter framing. Test measurements of simulated shifts of the prototype of photo-detection CCD receiver allowed initial definition of accuracy of the measurements of the situation of energetic middle of laser beam. From numerous measurements for the distance of 14 ma and vertical shifts within 35 mm, the maximal error equaled 0,04 mm and for 28 m it was 0,09 mm. Fluctuation effect of the situation of energetic middle of laser beam registered by measuring receiver in 10 seconds was also researched. Quickly changing variations of beam situation consisted in the range of 22,45 to 22,71 mm. Dispersion of vertical situation of laser spot did not exceed 0,26 mm. Registration and averaging of geometric middle of laser spot can be made with unrestricted time step.

Opis:
This article investigates the integration of geodetic and geotechnical methods for monitoring the horizontal displacement of diaphragm walls. The results show that when the horizontal displacement is measured by the geotechnical method using an inclinometer sensor, the center point at the bottom of the guide pipe is usually chosen to be the origin to calculate displacements of the upper points. However, it is challenging to survey the bottom point for checking its stability directly. If this bottom point moves, the observation results will be incorrect. Thus, the guide pipe must be installed in the stable rock layer. But in the soft ground, this rock layer locates more deeply than the diaphragm walls, so the guide pipe cannot be laid out at the required location. Geodetic methods can directly observe the displacement of the center point on the top of the guide pipe with absolute displacement values at high accuracy. Because the displacements of observation points are determined at stable benchmarks, these values are considered the pipe's displacement. Thus, an integrated solution allows the center point on the top of the pipe to be the origin to calculate the displacements of different points located inside the diaphragm wall. Then, the calculated values are calibrated back to the inclinometer observed values to achieve highly reliable displacement, which reflects the moving of diaphragm walls. An experiment integrating the geodetic and geotechnical methods is conducted with an observation point at a depth of 20 meters at a construction site in Ho Chi Minh city. The deviations of the top point that are observed by the two methods are -4.37 millimeters and -3.69 millimeters on the X-axis and the Y-axis, respectively. The corrected observed results prove that the integrated solution has a good efficiency in monitoring the horizontal displacement of diaphragm walls. The bottom point observed by an inclinometer is unconfident enough to choose to be a reference point.

Opis:
To carry out many surveying operations, one requires, apart from location determined in horizontal plane also elevation of selected points in a project. In the case of work realised over a large area, particularly if the object to be measured is of elongated shape, these tasks are performed in relation to a greater number of national network benchmarks. At that point control of benchmarks locations in relation to one another and determination of the most reliable reference frame for surveying tasks are required. The need to carry out such control will be proved in this paper on the example of historical changes of benchmark ordinates of vertical network in the city of Wroclaw.

In the paper the problem of lateral impact of weak soil layer on piles is discussed and analysed from the view point of measurements of deformations of structures founded on piles and of the prediction of its development in the future. Selected model test results are described and compared with numerical simulations. Additionally, basic principles of non-invasive electromagnetic method for measurement of deflection of abutments piles, developed by the author, is also presented.

The design of geodetic deformation monitoring schemes requires decisions to be made regarding the optimal location, density, and accuracy of geodetic sensors and targets. All too often, however, the location of the instruments and accuracy of monitoring are decided upon without regard for the expected location and magnitude of the maximum deformations of the monitored object. This can lead to incorrect interpretations of the behavior of the investigated object. A more rigorous approach is to use deterministic (a-priori) modeling of expected displacements derived from the knowledge of the geometry of the object and its environment, causative factors (loads), properties of the material, and physical laws governing the stress-strain relationship. In order to demonstrate how deterministic modeling can be used to design a geodetic scheme for deformation monitoring, an open pit mine scenario was investigated. Finite element analysis was applied to the open pit mine to obtain a prediction model of deformations at various stages of the mine development.

Opis:
The presented results of investigation of accuracy point out that the laser scanning technology may be applied for such measurements where the highest accuracy of coordinates determination is not required. Performed tests also proved that in the course of utilisation of the laser scanner measurements various factors, which influence the accuracy of obtained results, should be considered. Specific characteristics of the output product of laser scanning (i.e. the cloud of points) are also very important. Though high density of the cloud occurs, the possibility to improve interpretation capabilities through utilisation of the intensity image (or digital photographs) and high accuracy of determination of co-ordinates of an individual point within that cloud, the accuracy of identification of particular points and lines within that object is limited. This results in the necessity to change the measurement methodology and to focus on detection of surfaces and automatic identification of shapes, instead of identification of individual points. In such approach to determination of the object's shape, many points are used, what allows for better identification of the object and to decrease the influence of incidental errors. A separate issue, which influences the accuracy of measurements performed by means of a laser scanner, is the possibility to eliminate instrumental errors in post-processing. It has been stated that utilisation of corrections due to non-perpendicularity of axes and corrections for distance measurements allows to increase the accuracy of co-ordinates measurements by approximately 10 - 15 %.
