Opis:: We classify up to topological type nonorientable bordered Klein surfaces with maximal symmetry and soluble automorphism group provided its solubility degree does not exceed 4. Using this classification we show that a soluble group of automorphisms of a nonorientable Riemann surface of algebraic genus q ≥ 2 has at most 24(q-1) elements and that this bound is sharp for infinitely many values of q.

Opis:: Principally polarized abelian surfaces are the Jacobians of smooth genus 2 curves or of stable genus 2 curves of special type. In [S] we studied equations describing Kummer surfaces in the case of an irreducible principal polarization on the abelian surface. The aim of this note is to give a treatment of the second case. We describe intermediate Kummer surfaces coming from abelian surfaces carrying a product principal polarization. In Proposition 12 we give explicit equations of these surfaces in ℙ⁵.

Opis:: Recently it has become customary to describe street surfaces as their 'fourth dimension', 'floor' or 'horizontal elevation'. These terms testify to the growing role played by this particular element of town outfitting which for years has been forgotten and treated in a purely utilitarian manner associated solely with communication: street traffic and pedestrians. The very nature of the streets depended on their geographic location and changed with the progress of civilisation and the expansion of human adobes. The most popular form of historical nineteenth century surfaces was stone - the heritage of the experiences and tradition of the industrialization epoch. Originally, use was made of the so-called wild pavement, i. e. cobblestones which have survived mainly in the outskirts and small towns. Larger centres tried to grant their streets a more refined appearance by resorting to dressed stone and differentiated paving. Not until the 1980s did certain environments perceive street paving as an element of valuable historical development. The state of the preservation of historical pavements and streets in Szczecin has been examined in the course of two inventories carried out in 1999 and 2004, verifying the universal opinion about their unsatisfactory technical state and predominantly disclosing the enormous and variegated resources (project, material and aesthetic).

Opis:: We consider smooth knottings of compact (not necessarily orientable) n-dimensional manifolds in $ℝ^{n+2}$ (or $S^{n+2}$), for the cases n=2 or n=3. In a previous paper we have generalized the notion of the Reidemeister moves of classical knot theory. In this paper we examine in more detail the above mentioned dimensions. Examples are given; in particular we examine projections of twist-spun knots. Knot moves are given which demonstrate the triviality of the 1-twist spun trefoil. Another application is a smooth version of a result of Homma and Nagase on a set of moves for regular homotopies of surfaces.

Opis:: The interfluves and slopes of the High Bieszczady Mts., SE Poland, bear flat surfaces that are both structurally-controlled and represent fragments of planation surfaces. More extensive are planated surfaces that can be associated with the intramontane, foothills, and riverside levels of planation. The oldest planated surfaces are most numerous in the most elevated parts of the Bieszczady Mountains. Older surfaces display traces of relief rejuvenation, including steps and minor ridges developed upon thick-bedded sandstones. These planated levels display relief energy of 50-100 m, increasing within older landforms of that type. Locally occurring rolling topography of structurally-controlled flat surfaces appears to result from tectonic undulations and the presence of fault zones. Strong structural control dominating the topography of the Bieszczady Mts. obliterates any possible young tectonic influcences upon development of flat surfaces on the slopes.

Opis:: A comprehensive theoretical and numerical study oj the influence oj surface roughness oj elastic particles in water on the scattering oj ultrasonic waves has been carried out. For near spherical shape oj the particles and with small rms-roughness heights a perturbation method has been developed. In this method the first-order perturbation contribution predicts the contribution to the incoherently scattered acoustic field due to surjace roughness, and the second-order perturbation contribution predicts the change in the coherent field and will satisfy the requirement oj energy conservation. The second-order perturbation contribution is evaluated using the concept ojform function, while the first-order perturbation to the total scattered acoustic field is evaluated using the scattering cross-section. As a junction oj the ka-value and jor different rms-roughness heights a numerical study oj the jorward and backward scattering from rough, elastic particles has been carried out and a substantial roughness influence on the scattered field has been verified. Same experimental resultsfrom measurements oj scattering jrom glass and cast iron spheres have given evidence to the numerical predictions.
