Opis:
In manufacturing technologies milkrun and water-spider-based material handling represents up-to-date solutions, especially in the case of just-in-time and just-in-sequence in-plant supply. The objective of this research work is to show how to support the design of milkrun-based in-plant supply with heuristic optimisation in manufacturing processes. This paper proposes a new optimisation approach that can determine the optimal parameters of material handling operations of manufacturing technologies focusing on milkrun-based in-plant supply of manufacturing and assembly cells and lines. After a careful systematic literature review, this paper introduces a structural model to formulate the problem of routing of milkrun trolleys in manufacturing and assembly processes. Next, a potential mathematical model is described. Numerical results demonstrate how the proposed approach supports the decision making process in milkrun design focusing on the optimisation of the required number of milkrun trolleys and the routing of them.

Opis:
In order to achieve two main objectives: (1) reduce risk and (2) increase the expected rate of return on invested capital, coal mining and coal trading companies have looked for new ways to improve their supply chain networks. Developments in the supply chain design and analysis have helped coal mining and coal trading companies expand their businesses, but at the same time, have forced them to consolidate their assets and downsize any underused storage facilities. In the coal mining industry, the problem of consolidation and downsizing becomes much more complicated due to the variety in quality parameters (hence many coal grades) involved, locational zones and different number of market players. Furthermore, for the last decade, the storage allocation and assignment problem has received a great deal of attention within the Logistics and Operation Research (OR) area. Yet, little attention has been given to the modeling of coal supply chains and the issue of strategic supply chain planning of coal-producing and coal-trading companies. Similar to the generic warehouse consolidation problem (WCP), in specific cases of coal-producing and coal-trading companies, storage facilities that are redundant or underutilized can be eliminated without causing a negative impact on customer and service levels. In this context, this paper discusses the background of the problem and proposes a mixed-integer linear programming (MILP) model mainly intended for storage and distribution network reconfiguration of a coal-producing or trading company. The model, which can be implemented in a high-level mathematical modelling system such as GAMS or AIMMS, captures the essential methodological features of a warehouse restructuring and/or consolidation problem and can be applied in practice.
Problem efektywnej alokacji powierzchni magazynowych stanowi coraz częściej poruszane zagadnienie w literaturze przedmiotu. Niestety, jak dotychczas niewystarczające zainteresowanie towarzyszyło zarówno modelowaniu łańcucha dostaw węgla jak i problemowi planowania strategicznego w spółkach węglowych i przedsiębiorstwach handlujących węglem. Poprzez analogię do ogólnego problemu konsolidacji powierzchni magazynowych można pokazać, że w przypadku przedmiotowych przedsiębiorstw niepotrzebne lub niewykorzystane kubatury składowisk mogą zostać wyeliminowane bez spowodowania negatywnych skutków dla odbiorców. W odniesieniu do powyższego, w artykule przedstawiono zwięzłą analizę tła problemu oraz zaproponowano rozwiązanie zagadnienia rekonfiguracji sieci dystrybucyjnej rozważanych przedsiębiorstw wydobywających i handlujących węglem kamiennym z wykorzystaniem podejścia programowania matematycznego liniowego całkowitoliczbowego (MILP).

Opis:
In the period of shortage of gas supply, special attention is given to reducing the supply of gas to its consumers, that is, their complete and uninterrupted gas supply. Increasing gas losses associated with technological transportation costs, in particular caused by gas flow instability and frequent changes in gas transmission network operating modes. Considering losses due to unreliability of gas pumping is one of the important tasks of gas supply optimization. The purpose of the study is to develop an optimization mathematical model that will simultaneously take into account the factors of reliability and minimum lossesIn the general case, the optimization calculations of the modes of operation of the main gas pipelines are intended to solve three main problems: determining the maximum productivity, calculating the optimal mode with a given productivity and choosing the optimal strategy, the development of the pipeline. On the basis of approaches of simulation modeling of complex systems, a multiparameter mathematical model of gas supply process optimization was developed. It is shown that a comparative analysis of the forecast and actual indicators of the operating modes of the plunger gas pumping unit shows their satisfactory convergence. The performance of the compressor operation period in the process of injection according to the forecast deviates from the actual value for the whole period of operation of the plunger gas pumping unit in 2016 by 2.98%. The optimization problem of gas pumping planning is considered, taking into account the expected losses, on the basis of which the transfer of the controlled system from the initial state to the final one is carried out by such a sequence of states that minimizes the total cost of the system evolution.

Opis:
Searching for the new methods of management became the source of discovering and shaping the new potential and effects of the economic and market profits. Logistics, understood in terms of modern management is the method which allows for thorough managing all material and goods traffic between the source of supply finished products users. It became the driving force of streamlining enterprise operations in the field of integrated flows of goods and information which aim at minimizing costs and the strategies are directed at time, quality, flexibility and ingenuity. The essence of the logistics in such a meaning is to offer the potential recipient a specified amount of the products with the particular quality at the right place and time. The optimization of such logistic assignments proceeds according to two basic criteria: - maximizing the level of the offered logistic service assuming the cost extent, - minimizing logistic costs for the required service level. Excessive supply in relation to demand is an important issue for the managers. Only by reducing overall costs can the appropriate level of profitability be maintained. Logistics as a discipline which deals with focusing all the functions associated with the flow of goods, maintaining the stocks and communicating the stream of information in one place, taking into account the client’s satisfaction as the major factor, is modern management enabling reduction in overall costs. A problem which appears is to point out the method which allows to examine dependence of logistic management on the reducing overall costs as well as to examine the influence of logistics on the company development and its profitability. An attempt to present a universal method of examining the influence of logistics on the effectiveness of company functioning is made in this article.

The main objective of the text is to try to carry out the analysis with the predominant objective to try and present in realistic way the factors influencing the choice between a service realised only with the use of a road transport and intermodal transport. The author of the analysis put particular stress on the costs of the carriage service, time of its realisation and CO2 emission. The analysis also aimed at showing which of the presented technologies of service providing is more friendly to natural environment. This is due to the fact that the market for intermodal transport and road transport in Poland, knowledge of the mechanisms of price formation and the costs are still low. It is often difficult to determine the unit price of transport modes or mechanisms of shaping them. This results primarily from difficulties with the calculation of the actual cost of transport, terminal operations, management and other issues occurring in road transport and intermodal logistics functions.

Increasing demand for transport of goods exerts negative influence on the environment. Therefore most European countries divide realization of transportation of commodities between various transport branches by using so-called intermodal transport. Therefore it seems reasonable to carry out an analysis with the predominant objective to try and present in realistic way the factors influencing the choice between a service realized only with the use of a road transport and intermodal transport. The author of the analysis put particular stress on the costs of the carriage service, time of its realization and CO2 emission. The analysis also aimed at showing which of the presented technologies of service providing is more friendly to natural environment. The results obtained from the comparison of intermodal and road transport for a given distance enable stating that effectiveness of railway-road transport is influenced by 22% lower internal costs than the ones of road transport and by lower emission of carbon dioxide.

The paper concerns joint allocation and transportation as an optimization problem in selected supply networks. The network consists of a set of suppliers of the raw material, a set of production units and a set of product receivers. The raw material is treated as fast perishing good like vegetables or fruits. The production units are described by time models. In the optimization process, the time of the production and cost of the transportation is taken into account. The objective function is in general non-convex function of raw material allocation and transportation plans of the raw material and the product. To solve the problem considered, exact and heuristic algorithms have been developed and presented. To solve convex problems, solver Lingo developed by Lindo systems is proposed. The idea of a computer decision supported system integrating all presented algorithms is presented as well as four numerical examples illustrating some properties of the assumed supply network model.

We present a Closed Loop Supply Chain (CLSC) model that supports a production planning (PP) process. CLSC model is based on CLSC framework model which consists of four main centers: collection, recovery center, distribution and disposal centers. These logistics parts support main production lines. Some quantity of the products is recovered and the factories don’t need to spend money for production. This is a simple cost reduction process. In CLSC literature one can hardly meet the models of production planning processes supported by CLSC. Important problem with that models is the computational complexity when one wants to prepare production plans for more than one time period. This is connected with a number of the numerical variables of the CLSC and PP models which are usually Integer Programming models solved with Branch & Bound algorithms. We present some modifications of the widely known and used constraints in the CLSC models to optimize solving process. All the experiments were conducted with the CPLEX solver.

Decision-making is a tedious and complex process. In the present competitive scenario, any incorrect decision may excessively harm an organization. Therefore, the parameters involved in the decision-making process should be looked into carefully as they may not always be of a deterministic nature. In the present study, a multiobjective nonlinear transportation problem is formulated, wherein the parameters involved in the objective functions are assumed to be fuzzy and both supply and demand are stochastic. Supply and demand are assumed to follow the exponential distribution. After converting the problem into an equivalent deterministic form, the multiobjective problem is solved using a neutrosophic compromise programming approach. A comparative study indicates that the proposed approach provides the best compromise solution, which is significantly better than the one obtained using the fuzzy programming approach.

This article presents an integrated approach to optimize the different functions in a supply chain on strategic tactical and operational levels. The integrated supply chain model has been formulated as a cost minimization problem in the form of MILP (Mixed Integer Linear Programming). The costs of production, transport, distribution and environmental protection were adopted as optimization criteria. Timing, volume, capacity and mode of transport were also taken into account. The model was implemented in the LINGO package. The implementation model and the numerical tests are presented and discussed. The numerical experiments were carried out using sample data to show the possibilities of practical decision support and optimization of the supply chain.

The issue of transportation is a particular type of mathematical programming that facilitates searching for and determining an optimal distribution network, considering the set of suppliers and recipients. This paper uses a numerical example to present a solution to a transport problem utilizing classical computation methods, i.e., the northwest corner, the least cost in a matrix, and the VAM approximation method. The objective of the paper was to develop tools in the form of algorithms that would then be implemented in three various computing environments (R, GNU Octave, and Matlab) that allow us to optimize transport costs within an assumed supply network. The model involved determining decision variables and indicating limiting conditions. Furthermore, the authors interpreted and visualized the obtained results. The implementation of the proposed solution enables users to determine an optimal transport plan for individually defined criteria.

The aim of the presented research was to characterize the driving related to the deliveries of large−size Scots pine wood and to determine the factors affecting its structure and distance. Operation was divided in to: driving for load on a public and forest road, forest ride between loading points, as well as driving with saw logs on a forest and public road. Data on the distance traveled on forest and public roads (empty and with load), as well as, the number of loading places was determined on the data from drivers. In total, 1509 randomly selected deliveries carried out over a period of twelve months from 40 forest districts were analyzed. Investigated transports delivered 44,336 m3 of large−size pine round wood to the sawmill. Most deliveries were made within 100 km from the plant. Within this radius, 83.87% of drives for load and 75.35% drives with load were completed. The average distance for driving for load on a public road was 60.6 km, with the range from 0.5 to 205 km. The average driving distance with load to the sawmill was 70 km, the shortest distance 2 km and the longest – 238 km. Driving distances on forest roads, for and with load, was on the similar level of 3.5 and 3.4 km, respectively. The average distance in the forest, between loading points was 3.1 km, with SD=2.9 km, maximum 16 km. The largest share, 51.4% of total delivery distance, was related to driving with saw logs on a public road and depends on how many places in the forest the wood was picked up. In 36% of all deliveries, saw logs were loaded from two or more places, which involved additional drive on forest roads at the distance of 1,652 km. The analysis did not show statistically significant differences between driving depending on the season of the year. The stable wood supply during 12 months period, shows that large stocks of round wood to secure productions during sensitive periods (winter), is not needed.
