Supply chain management is at the heart of business strategy. The types of goods delivered are extremely varied and the way to deliver to the final consumer is more and more complex. Moreover, the relations between players within the supply chain take multiple shapes and have inevitably an impact on its design. This arena of complexity leads companies to use diverse kinds of relational approaches. But the relational view is itself a large field of study and a recent trend in supply chain management. It can be focuses on joint planning, coordination, and process integration between suppliers, customers, and other partners in a supply chain. Its benefits include cost reductions, an increasing reliability and a strong responsiveness to market needs. In addition, managing a sustainable supply chain involves today additional parameters like CO2 emissions reduction, energy consumption decrease, eradication of traffic congestion problems and the need for a better traceability. Besides, recent progresses in inter-companies’ communication technologies, along with a growing use of strategic partnering, has resulted in a large variety of alternative information systems approaches for supporting a collaborative supply chain management. Helped by theories and based on empirical data from specific cases companies, this exploratory and conceptual research shows the relative influence of various specific environments on the coordination of logistics flows, with a focus on relationships between different players. This work analyzes diverse types of supply chains and gives a framework confronted with some examples showing how different players create new models of logistics organization in particular situations.

Hydrodynamiczne łożyska wzdłużne charakteryzują się znacznymi stratami tarcia, które przyczyniają się do wzrostu temperatury łożyska i obniżenia jego nośności. Obecnie olej smarujący jest zazwyczaj chłodzony w zewnętrznych układach chłodzenia. Po schłodzeniu olej jest dostarczany z powrotem do korpusu łożyska, z reguły do przestrzeni między klockami łożyska. Skuteczność dostarczania schłodzonego oleju w pobliże wlotu do szczeliny smarowej ma wpływ na temperaturę łożyska i jego obciążalność. W pracy przedstawiono wyniki badań doświadczalnych trzech systemów dostarczania oleju na właściwości małego łożyska szybkoobrotowego.
Hydrodynamic thrust bearings have considerable power losses, and in modern designs lubricated oil is cooled in external systems. After the cooling, oil is pumped back to the bearing housing, most frequently to the space between pads. Effectiveness of supplying of cold oil to the vicinity of the inlet to the fluid film has a strong influence on bearing temperature and load capacity. In practice there is a lot of different supply methods used in thrust bearings, but there is a lack of descriptions of their efficiency in literature. In this paper some experimental results of influence of selected supplying methods on bearing characteristics have been presented.

Aiming at the technical bottlenecks existing in the current warp knitting machine control system such as jacquard drive circuit, the design method of self-boosting power supply circuit integrated with jacquard driver is proposed for the embedded warp knitting machine jacquard control system for miniaturization design. The voltage boost circuit designed can boost the low voltage from the input of the working power supply to the high voltage for the output to drive the oscillation of the piezoelectric ceramic jacquard needles. Since the circuit adopts energy storage inductance instead of current-limiting resistor to optimize the driving circuit, it not only limits the forward charging current of the piezoelectric ceramic, but also effectively realize the energy recovery function. The effectiveness of the design method is verified by simulation.
Mając na celu techniczne wąskie gardła występujące w obecnym systemie sterowania maszyną do tkania osnowowego, takie jak obwód napędu żakardowego, zaproponowano metodę projektowania samowzmacniającego obwodu zasilania zintegrowanego ze sterownikiem żakardowym dla wbudowanego systemu sterowania żakardowego maszyny. Zaprojektowany obwód zwiększający napięcie może zwiększać niskie napięcie z wejścia zasilacza roboczego do wysokiego napięcia na wyjściu, aby napędzać oscylacje piezoelektrycznych ceramicznych igieł żakardowych. Skuteczność metody projektowania została zweryfikowana za pomocą symulacji.

Effectiveness is the prism through which supply chains are defined. Different management methods can be used to measure supply chain effectiveness, such as life cycle assessment or sustainable supply chain management. In order to properly model and manage reverse supply chains for wood biomass, the structure of the supply chains was examined. For this purpose, a correlation analysis of the basic parameters of wood biomass reverse supply chains was carried out. After their identification, the level of mutual correlation was verified using Pearson's correlation coefficient. The coefficient of determination r2 was also verified for the two parameters with the highest degree of interaction – the sales of wood chips and the purchase of wood biomass. To improve the verification, scatter plots were made to further confirm the degree of interaction. As a result of the analysis of the parameter interdependencies and a discussion of the results of other international studies, the parameters were found to be applicable in modelling effective reverse supply chains of wood biomass.

Hydrodynamiczne łożyska wzdłużne hydrogeneratorów charakteryzują się znacznymi stratami tarcia, a olej smarujący obecnie jest zazwyczaj chłodzony w zewnętrznych układach chłodzenia. W praktyce spotyka się wiele różnych sposobów zasilania łożyska, jednak w literaturze brakuje opisów badań ich skuteczności. Dotychczas szczegółowa analiza przepływu środka smarowego i wymiany ciepła w przestrzeni między klockami łożyska z uwzględnieniem zróżnicowanych sposobów zasilania nie była możliwa. Od niedawna analizy takie można przeprowadzać z wykorzystaniem oprogramowania obliczeniowej dynamiki płynów (CFD). W pracy przedstawiono przykładowe wyniki obliczeniowej analizy wpływu zastosowania wybranych systemów dostarczania schłodzonego oleju do łożyska na właściwości łożyska.

Moreover, it seems that, up till now, detailed analysis of the flow of lubricated oil and heat exchange between pads, with consideration of different supply methods, was not possible. Recently, such an analysis can be carried out with the use of Computational Fluid Dynamic (CFD) software. In this paper, an example of the results of the computational analysis of the influence of selected supplying methods on bearing characteristics are presented.

Opis:
Optimization of a sustainable supply chain network design (SSCND) is a complex decision-making process which can be done by the optimal determination of a set of decisions and constraints such as the selection of suppliers, transportation-related facilities and distribution centres. Different optimization techniques have been applied to handle various SSCND problems. Meta- heuristic algorithms are developed from these techniques that are commonly used to solving supply chain related problems. Among them, Genetic algorithms (GA) and particle swarm optimization (PSO) are implemented as optimization solvers to obtain supply network design decisions. This paper aims to compare the performance of these two evolutionary algorithms in optimizing such problems by minimizing the total cost that the system faces to potential disruption risks. The mechanism and implementation of these two evolutionary algorithms is presented in this paper. Also, using an optimization considers ordering, purchasing, inventory, transportation, and carbon tax cost, a numerical real-life case study is presented to demonstrate the validity of the effectiveness of these algorithms. A comparative study for the algorithms performance has been carried out based on the quality of the obtained solution and the results indicate that the GA performs better than PSO in finding lower-cost solution to the addressed SSCND problem. Despite a lot of research literature being done regarding these two algorithms in solving problems of SCND, few studies have compared the optimization performance between GA and PSO, especially the design of sustainable systems under risk disruptions.

The aim of this paper is to present the potential of computer software for designing and computation of hydraulic water supply systems. The paper presents applications available in the Polish market, such as: Stanet, Woda, Wodociągowiec, Wavin-NET and Epanet. The paper presents the functionalities of each application: the method of construction of the water supply network, limitations to the size of the network, options of inputting such data as e.g. water distributions and the type of generated output data. It was shown which applications allow for hydraulic calculations of both radial and annular networks, and which can be used only for radial networks. Attention was also drawn to the option of automatic generation of longitudinal profiles of designed networks.
Celem artykułu jest przedstawienie możliwości wybranych programów do projektowania i obliczania hydraulicznego sieci wodociągowych. Przedstawiono aplikacje dostępne na polskim rynku, takie jak: Stanet, Woda, Wodociągowiec, Wavin-NET oraz Epanet. W artykule zawarto charakterystyki poszczególnych aplikacji: omówiono sposób budowy sieci wodociągowej, ograniczenia w wielkości analizowanej sieci, możliwości wprowadzania danych, takich jak np. rozbiory wody oraz rodzaj generowanych danych wynikowych. Podkreślono, które z programów umożliwiają obliczenia hydrauliczne zarówno sieci promienistych, jak i pierścieniowych, a które mogą być zastosowane tylko dla sieci promienistych. Zwrócono również uwagę na możliwość automatycznego generowania profili podłużnych projektowanych sieci.

The growing population and the development of industries in all countries of the world have created a very important and complex issue for water supply to cities. Today, many parts of the world are facing the problem of water shortage and this problem cannot be easily solved. In addition to the proper use of water resources and preventing the loss of natural water, the establishment of regional water supply networks is effective in meeting the future needs of the people. A water distribution network (water supply network) is a set of interconnected pipelines used to transport and distribute water in a complex. In designing the water distribution network, factors such as the type of water distribution network, water pressure, water velocity, design flow, minimum pipe diameter, pipe material and many other factors should be considered. In this study, we have tried to design the water supply network of a part of Balikpapan city in Indonesia. The design method led to the determination of pressure values in the connection nodes, pipe diameters, flow rate and velocity in the pipes. All the existing criteria are considered in the design of the water supply network. Although this study has been implemented for a specific study area, it can be of great help to designers in designing the water supply network.

Opis:
The provision of a reliable water-supply system is essential for the development and well-being of urban communities. Samdrupjongkhar Thromde, located in Bhutan, has been facing water supply challenges despite the presence of a water treatment plant. The non-perennial nature of the current water source coupled with malfunctions in water pumps has led to acute water shortages in the municipality. To address this issue, this study carried out a feasibility investigation and designed a gravity water supply system by conducting an EPANET (Environment Protection Agency Network Evaluation Tool) analysis. The study involved field visits to identify potential water sources, and a topographic survey using RTK (Real Time Kinematics) technology to determine the optimal pipeline route. The EPANET analysis was then conducted to evaluate the hydraulic performance of the initial route. Based on these findings, a final water pipeline route was selected considering factors such as terrain characteristics, construction feasibility, avoidance of negative water pressure, and minimum encroachment of private land. The results showed that the maximum pressure head within the pipeline system reached 296 m with a maximum water flow velocity of 5 m/s. However, at the outlet, the pressure head decreased to 70 m and the velocity decreased to 2 m/s. Two Break Pressure Tanks (BPT) were strategically placed to achieve this pressure reduction. The chosen pipe materials and their placement ensure the long-term reliability and functionality of the water supply system, while considering maintenance convenience and terrain characteristics.

The environmental state of rice irrigation systems (RIS) is determined by many factors, including natural ones (soil, topographical, hydrogeological, and climatic factors) and technological ones (irrigation norm, design, and parameters of irrigation and drainage networks, etc). The most significant influence on the ecological reclamation state of the RIS carries is effected by its drainage network (DN). The need to maintain a flushing water regime with specific filtration rates to prevent secondary salinization in the Danube Delta’s rice systems is a crucial aspect of managing these agricultural areas. In the saline areas of rice systems located in the Danube Delta, the DN must ensure the maintenance of the flushing water regime with the rates of filtration ranging between 10 to 12 mm/day. This is a prerequisite for preventing secondary salinization of irrigated lands of these rice systems. According to the results of studies, the filtration from the surface of the irrigation checks of the Danube Delta RIS has been established, and its values in the area of the rice check vary significantly. Different intensity of filtration in the area of rice checks causes the difference in mineralization of groundwater and in the content of salts in the soil. This leads to the fact that the same rice check created various natural reclamation conditions and different productivity of cultivated crops.

Warehouses are essential components of any supply chain in terms of customer service and cost levels. Warehouses are one of the important players in the success or failure of businesses from not only the customer service levels perspective but also the cost perspective. Warehouses, as one of the important components of supply networks, should be continually improved from design and operation perspectives to increase the performance. All efforts and solutions regarding the performance improvement are important and complex. In other words, warehouses should operate effectively in terms of the costs and technical performance that are determined during the design phase of warehouses. There are a few studies in the literature regarding the calculations of the optimum dimensions of a warehouse along the x, y, and z directions. In this paper, an analytical model is proposed to achieve the optimum warehouse dimensions in terms of the number of stocking zones along each of three dimensional axes directions: the x-, y-, and z-axes as non-linear mathematical modelling is developed to ensure the optimality. The warehouse dimensions (length, width, and height under the rafter of the building) are then calculated according to the results obtained from the model to minimise the average travel time.

Istotnym czynnikiem dla doboru wodomierzy głównych jest precyzyjne określenie przepływów obliczeniowych, wartości ich nieprzewyższenia. Obecnie normatywy techniczne, na podstawie których następuję określenie przepływów obliczeniowych dla doboru średnic przyłączy wodociągowych i w konsekwencji doboru wodomierzy, nie są miarodajne w stosunku do przepływów rzeczywistych, co daje podstawy do stwierdzenia, że normy zharmonizowane nie odpowiadają w założeniach warunkom polskim i wymagają korekty. W artykule zostaną zaprezentowanie metody określenia rzeczywistego przepływu obliczeniowego na przyłączu wodociągowym, który ma wpływ na poprawny dobór wodomierzy głównych w obiektach użyteczności publicznej.
An important factor for selection of main water meters is a precise determination of design flow, value of “nieprzewyższenia”. Presently, technical norms, on which determination of design flow for diameter selection of waterworks selection and consequently water meters selection are based, are no reliable in relation to the actual flow. This gives arguments to ascertain that harmonized standards do not meet Polish conditions and it requires correction. The article presents the method of determining the actual design flow for water supply system connection, which has an impact on a proper selection of main water meters in public buildings.

Opis:
The investment policy applied by seaport authorities has a great impact on the state of the natural environment in coastal regions. Unfortunately, in many cases, their environmental efforts are limited to the issues which are defined by the applicable legal regulations determined by International Maritime Organization, the Organization of United Nations and the European Commission etc. However, in recent years we can observe significant improvement in this area, especially in the seaports of Northern Europe. They often decide on highly capital-intensive pro-ecological investments allowing to reduce the level of pollution emitted from cruise ships during their handling in ports, such as e. g. the opportunity of connecting vessels to the shore-side energy supply systems. Various solutions in this area are currently used in the world. The ports in Northern Europe are currently the leaders in this area. The use of such solutions is cost-intensive, but it significantly reduces the level of pollution emitted by ships into the environment, and the level of noise and vibration caused by engines. This paper aims to assess the seaports' involvement in Northern Europe in the preparation of seaport infrastructure enabling cruise ships to be connected to the onshore power supply systems. The article contains the results of surveys conducted with the use of two methods to adjust the research technique to the respondents’ needs, i.e. CASI (Computer-Assisted Self Interviewing) and EMS (Electronic Mail Survey). The empirical research was conducted among the seaports in Northern Europe. The results of the survey may be of interest to seaport authorities and cruise ship owners.

The paper presents an approach for integrating conflicted cells in a chain-like structure based on a measurement of the level of integration of this structure. The authors’ prior experience suggests an assumption that conflicts always arise when cells are connected by a flow of materials, information, and money, although at different intensity levels. Usually, the intensity levels of said conflicts depend on the cooperation culture within a supply chain. This is a highly multidimensional problem, reflected by the literature referred to in this paper and related to this subject matter. The proposed approach treats technological processes between conflicted cells as an area of potential integration of these cells. Then, the integration becomes a problem of selecting the appropriate variant of realizing a technological process conducted in an area common for potentially conflicted cells of a company. The same approach may be used for cells belonging to separate production and distribution companies operating within a mutual supply chain. The paper proposes a method for measuring the integration level of neighboring cells, as a difficult-to-measure feature, by determining an integration loss index. Also, the paper presents a multi-criteria method based on the fuzzy set theory for selecting a preferred variant of a technological process. A presented example uses this method in a supply chain to maximize the integration level between Shipping and Recipient cells/links. It has been assumed that the preferred realization variant of the flow process will be based on the following criteria: 1) shipping cost; 2) shipping quality; 3) shipping time. Also, an algorithm is shown for applying the presented methodology, which is helpful for managers interested in increasing the integration level of a supply chain. The methodology allows for increasing the integrity of conflicted cells both in newly designed supply chains as well as in existing ones when remodeled or reorganized. Moreover, the paper indicates some problems associated with the efficient implementation of the proposed method.
