    In the education industry, it is critical to understand the expectations of students concerning providing the best educational experience. Thus, in higher education institutions (HEI) the adoption of customer-oriented approaches in the management practice is widespread. The customer-oriented approach regarding students as customers has been discussed in academic literature from several perspectives. However, it has been rarely studied from the point of view of comparing public and private universities. The presented study tried to apply a student-customer orientation questionnaire (SCOQ) to investigate differences between student expectations of their educational experience in public vs. private universities. The sample consisted of 238 undergraduate students in Indonesia’s higher education institutions. The study found interesting differences within the student-customer-oriented variables between university types in terms of graduation, curriculum design, communication with service staff, classroom studies, individual studies and course design.

    Numerous studies have examined sojourners’ L2 motivation during their stay abroad. Much remains unknown about the impact of study abroad (SA) experiences on their L2 motivation after they return to the home environment. This study tracked the English learning motivation of three Chinese university students from immediately after their semester-long exchange program in an English-speaking country until six months after the sojourn. The participants were requested to complete a questionnaire and took part in an interview immediately following their re-entry and another interview six months later. The participants’ post-sojourn English learning motivation was influenced by their L2 selves and the context they were situated in. The motivational capacity of SA experiences was manifested in its profound impact on the participants’ ideal L2 self-images. Satisfactory SA experiences contributed to an ideal L2 self with higher L2 proficiency and international posture, whereas unsatisfactory experiences led to a lessening role of L2 in the participants’ future work and life. The findings also reveal that the participants’ understandings of both their positive and negative SA experiences became fossilized after the sojourn. Some practical implications were discussed for higher education institutions to optimize the post-sojourn motivational impact of SA programs.

    Projekty to unikalne działania powodujące konieczność wypracowania nowych rozwiązań technicznych lub organizacyjnych. Bardzo częstą sytuacją jest brak działań zmierzających do wykorzystania tak zdobytej wiedzy do udoskonalania własnej organizacji. W artykule zaprezentowane zostały zasady wykorzystania nowej wiedzy, proponowane przez cztery najpopularniejsze systemy zarządzania projektami lub zespołami projektowymi, poparte przypadkami ilustrującymi stosowanie (lub nie) tych zasad i ich efekty dla organizacji.
    Projects are unique actions that will need to develop new technical or organizational. A very common situation is the lack of efforts to use such knowledge to improve their own organization. The paper presented the principle of the proposed use of the new knowledge provided for the four most popular project management systems and project teams supported by the cases illustrating the use (or not) of these rules and their effects on the organization.

    The authors propose a new approach for the mobile user experience design process by means of web analytics and eye-tracking. The proposed method was applied to design the LUT mobile website. In the method, to create the mobile website design, data of various users and their behaviour were gather-ed and analysed using the web analytics tool. Next, based on the findings from web analytics, the mobile prototype for the website was created and validated in eye-tracking usability testing. The analysis of participants’ behaviour during eye-tracking sessions allowed improvements of the prototype.

    The article focuses on the case study of the life history of Weronika, a person biographically experiencing the consequences of the transformation process in Poland. On the one hand, the text concentrates on showing the change in the status of the narrator’s family from a privileged position in the socialist period to the experience of unemployment and poverty after 1989. On the other hand, the text analyzes the necessity of the narrator’s mother’s emigration to Italy in the mid-1990s. Thus, the article focuses on the narrator’s experience in the context of being a migrant woman’s child. This experience is related to the time of socialization and education, which was difficult for the narrator, and the consequence of which is shown in the text in connection to the narrator’s persistence in trajectory. The text also presents the perspective of transnational motherhood within the framework of Polish women’s migrations after 1989. Also, an important perspective adapted in the article is the experience of migration by the narrator, who at the time of the interview has also been living in Italy for 10 years. Permanent emigration of the narrator is associated in her life history with high biographical costs. The article is, therefore, an attempt to present migration as a source of suffering in relation to the context of being a migrant’s child and being a migrant oneself. The analysis of Weronika’s case is also an attempt to show the relationship between the individual experience of the narrator and the mechanisms of collective influence. Thus, the text treats the analyzed life history as one of the biographical accounts reflecting the biographical and social processes assigned to a specific time frame. In this perspective, the text aims to reconstruct the complexity of these processes and to interpret the experienced social reality in an individual biography.

    The text is an attempt to indicate innovatory terminological solutions and their critical reception of the so-called cultural theory of literature, being formed in the last decade, on the basis of the last proposal included in Poetyka doświadczenia (“Poetics of Experience”) by Ryszard Nycz. The author of the essay concentrates on the fundamental humanistic notions, for example experiencing, happening, paradigmaticality, interdisciplinarity in the studies into literature or intertextuality, which, from this viewpoint, are subject to redefinition and a kind of conceptualization. A separate place in these considerations is occupied by the comparison of the stance of the author of Sylwy współczesne with the recent writings of Michał Paweł Markowski and the argument with the analysis of specific case studies included in the ending of Poetics of Experience.

    The level of preparation of teachers before they enter the profession is an important factor affecting the level of culture of future generations and, consequently, the society as a whole. This preparation requires not only the proper implementation of the curriculum, but also the acquisition of self-efficacy skills. So far, the self-efficacy of pre-service teachers has been studied with respect to different variables. However, there is a lack of satisfactory comparative research among students from Poland and Slovakia, the countries of slightly different approach to preparation of pre-service teachers. To fill this gap, a comparative study of 355 Polish and 198 Slovakian university students was conducted using Tschannen-Moran and Woolfolk Hoy Teachers’ Sense of Efficacy Scale. The purpose of the research was to determine which variables, including the country (Poland, Slovakia), course, form, year of study and participation in the field experience correlate significantly with the sense of efficacy of pre-service teachers. The obtained results indicate a satisfactory consistency between the Polish and the Slovakian version of the Teachers’ Sense of Efficacy Scale. The research revealed a significantly higher self-evaluation among Polish university students and students of early childhood education. Part-time students with field experience evaluated themselves higher than full time students. The results emphasize that it is important to place high demands on future teachers and create appropriate conditions to improve their teaching and self-evaluative abilities.

    Experiencing traumatic events and posttraumatic growth in youthThe study explored the experience of traumatic events and posttraumatic in youtch positive changes resulting from struggling with a trauma, and the relationship between sex, age, the kind of traumatic event and time elapsed since the event and subsequent changes occured. 165 adolescents (52% girls, 48% boys) aged 14–18 participated in the study. The Polish adaptation of the Posttraumatic Growth Inventory was used. 72% of adolescents experienced some traumatic event. The most frequent were: loss of a loved person (33%), chronic or acute illness, accident and injury, fi nancial hardship (13,3% each) and parent’s divorce (9,9%). 58% the of examined adolescents revealed at least on average level of posttraumatic growth. Positive changes were higher in self-perception, relating to others, appreciation of life than in the spiritual area. Sex, age, the type of experienced trauma and time elapsed since the event occurred did not relate to the level of posttraumatic growth in the examined group of youth.

    This article analyses the case study method and its application in accounting module. Labour market requirements in Lithuania and abroad are becoming higher and higher. Completing the theoretical studies is not enough for students. The case study method helps to connect the existing theoretical knowledge and practice. The case study method was used for the first time in 1870 at Harvard University. The method allows a student to be active throughout the process, to make decisions, to give grounded opinions, to work in a team and to make conclusions. This paper addresses the benefits of using case studies in accounting module between the students without a relevant work experience. In the context of this study, the findings provide evidence that the case study methods should be used in the accounting studies.
    W artykule dokonano analizy metody studium przypadku w kontekście kształcenia w zakresie księgowości. Wymagania rynku pracy na Litwie i poza jej granicami stają się coraz wyższe. Uzyskanie przez studentów jedynie wiedzy teoretycznej nie jest wystarczające. Metoda studium przypadku zapewnia łączenie istniejącej wiedzy teoretycznej i praktycznej. Po raz pierwszy metoda ta została zastosowana w 1870 roku na Uniwersytecie w Harvardzie. Zapewnia ona studentom aktywne uczestnictwo w procesie nauczania, podejmowanie decyzji, podawanie opinii, pracę w grupie i wyciąganie wniosków. Celem publikacji jest określenie korzyści używania metody studium przypadku podczas nauczania księgowości wśród studentów nieposiadających doświadczenia zawodowego.

    W artykule dokonano analizy działań instytucji kulturalnych (teatrów) wykorzystujących marketing doświadczeń oraz ocenę zarządzania doświadczeniem klienta w budowaniu ich doznań. Za przykład wdrażanych działań z tego obszaru marketingu posłużył Teatr Lalek Arlekin z Łodzi. Opisano wybrane działania Teatru, wskazując jednocześnie punkty styku tych działań z budowanym doświadczeniem u jego odbiorcy. Zwrócono również uwagę na spójność tych działań z przyjętą strategią organizacji. Artykuł stanowi studium przypadku. Ocena działań omawianego przypadku została ograniczona do analizy treści informacji dostępnych na stronach www oraz portalach społecznościowych.
    Article aims to analyse the activities of cultural institutions (theatres) using marketing experience and assessment of management experience in building their customer experience. As an example of actions implemented in this area of marketing there was used Arlekin [Harlequin] Puppet Theatre in Lodz. The authors described some actions carried out by Theatre, indicating the points of contact of these activities with expertise built in its recipient. Attention was also paid to the consistency of those actions with the adopted organisation’s strategy. The article provides a case study of that theatre. The rating of this case study has been limited to the content analysis of the information available on websites and social media.
    В статье провели анализ действий культурных заведений (театров), использующих маркетинг опыта, а также оценку управления опытом клиента в формировании его ощущений. В качестве примера внедряемых действий из этой области послужил Театр кукол «Арлекин» из Лодзи. Описали избранные действия театра, указывая одновременно точки соприкосновения этих действий с формируемым опытом у их адресата. Обратили тоже внимание на совокупность этих действий с принятой стратегией организации. Статья – анализ конкретного случая. Оценку действий обсуждаемого случая ограничили к анализу содержания информации, доступной на вебсайтах и в социальных сетях.
