The subject of key competencies in the labour market has been discussed in many publications and reports in recent years, presenting the point of view of researchers and employers on the issue. However, the perspective of future employees also seems to be worth discussing; hence this research covers university students currently entering the labour market. Ten competencies identified as key in the labour market are examined: problem-solving, creativity and innovation, analytical and critical thinking, active learning and teaching, interdisciplinarity, emotional intelligence, social intelligence, intercultural competencies, virtual cooperation, digital competency. The study aimed to determine the respondents’ opinions and beliefs about selected key competencies on the labour market, their willingness to develop them, and their declared level of these competencies. The survey was carried out using the quantitative method, using the CAWI technique, on a sample of 352 respondents – students of the University of Lodz. The results indicate that the students mostly share the view that the competencies indicated as being key will be expected by employers in the labour market in the next five years. Moreover, for most of the competencies being studied, they assess their current level to be high and see the need to develop them for professional purposes. Discrepancies are also indicated between the students’ self-assessment of their competencies and their employers’ assessment.

Values are standards of our thoughts, attitude and behaviour, defining who we are, the way we live and our functioning in interpersonal relations. Every man needs in his everyday life a signpost in the form of a specific system of standards and rules of conduct called values, which promote the development and, at the same time, protect against erroneous attitudes. In this situation, of particular importance are pedagogical competences of the teacher, who, besides educational and organizational tasks, should become a person who develops personality of a young man by teaching him values. Objective of the study was to investigate the value preferred by students of physical education and their goals and attitudes to life. The research was carried out by the diagnostic survey using the Milton Rokeach Scale Values and the questionnaire of our own design. Among the values cherished by the respondents, the final top positions were: health, mature love and respect for each other. Among the most highly rated values by the respondents there are honesty, ambition, willingness to love, responsibility, self-reliance and perseverance. Whereas the most important goals and aspirations in life among the respondents are: health, performing satisfactory work and reciprocated love.
Wartości to standardy naszych myśli, postaw i zachowań, określające, kim jesteśmy, sposób, w jaki żyjemy, i nasze funkcjonowanie w relacjach interpersonalnych. Każdy człowiek potrzebuje w swoim codziennym życiu drogowskazu w postaci określonego systemu norm i zasad postępowania zwanych wartościami, które sprzyjają rozwojowi, a jednocześnie chronią przed błędnymi postawami. W tej sytuacji szczególnego znaczenia nabierają kompetencje wychowawcze nauczyciela, który obok zadań dydaktycznych czy organizacyjnych powinien stać się jednostką rozwijającą osobowość młodego człowieka przez ukazywanie mu świata wartości. Celem przeprowadzonych badań było poznanie wartości preferowanych przez studentów wychowania fizycznego oraz ich celów i dążeń życiowych. Badania przeprowadzono metodą sondażu diagnostycznego z wykorzystaniem Skali Wartości Miltona Rokeacha oraz kwestionariusza ankiety własnej koncepcji. Wśród cenionych przez badanych wartości ostatecznych na czołowych miejscach znalazły się: zdrowie, dojrzała miłość i szacunek dla siebie. Wśród wartości instrumentalnych respondenci najwyżej lokowali: uczciwość, ambicje, gotowość kochania, odpowiedzialność, samodzielność i wytrwałość. Natomiast najważniejszymi celami i dążeniami życiowymi badanych były: zdrowie, wykonywanie satysfakcjonującej pracy i odwzajemniona miłość. Płeć i rok studiów różnicują w sposób istotny statystycznie więcej kategorii z grupy wartości ostatecznych niż wartości instrumentalnych.

Тhe main goal of our theoretical research was to show how much the syllabus allow development of awareness about the diversities and development of life values in multiethnic and multicultural environments. In that context, we established the goal to analyze the objectives and the content of the syllabus of the most relevant subjects regarding multicultural and intercultural education: Introduction to society and Society for grades I – V. Having in mind that in Macedonia there are different cultures, religions, traditions and languages, it is necessary to develop competencies to show respect for the diversities and to develop the multicultural awareness of the students at the earliest age. On the other hand, globalization, as a characteristic of the modern age, increasingly imposes the need to develop the intercultural awareness and competencies of the students as well. The interethnic (multicultural) as well as intercultural competencies are especially important from several aspects: firstly, as a result of the need to overcome stereotypes and prejudices still present in our society, and secondly, to develop values in children, and especially empathy in students.

The topic of the article is students’ and their parents’ digital competences development during the COVID- 19 outbreak in Poland and distance learning. The text show results of two longitudinal studies: a qualitative one conducted on a group of parents of school-age children (N = 89), and a quantitative one, with two research groups: parents of school-age children and students aged 15-18 (various N). Parents who were providing or supporting children’s education during distance learning experienced digital competencies development. The main change has occurred in four areas: (1) information and data exploitation, (2) communication and (less frequently) collaboration, (3) digital content creation, and (4) problem-solving. Learning supported with digital technologies in the group of students did not change significantly, the level of digital competences remained basically at the same level, which can be explained by the high initial level of expertise. The experiences of distance education and the absent areas of the development of digital competences indicate the directions that future, modern education may follow.

The text contains an analysis of the competence of a special education teacher, with particular emphasis on the competence of one working as a teacher assistant with blind and visually impaired students. It attempts to answer the question of what competence a teacher assistant should have. On the one hand, this competence must be a response to the current needs of students with visual impairments, their teachers and parents. In line with the current approach to inclusive education, the teacher assistant who works with visually impaired students should be equipped with a whole array of competences, especially a number of highly specialised ones. On the other hand, taking into account e.g. creative and ethical competences, universities educating future teachers of the kind are not able to equip graduates with full competences.

Aim. The research presents a division of soft skills important for better socialising and being. Methods. The main method was a questionnaire survey completed by 98 pupils in the 3rd year of the mentioned schools. Results. We briefly describe the findings of the self-reflective evaluations of the students of two high schools and how they perceive and appreciate their personality in terms of soft skills. We mainly focused on social and personality skills from several areas and divisions of soft skills. Conclusion. Education must pay more consistent attention to the development of these skills because it is soft skills and their use in life that will be key not only for the advancement of the individual but for the advancement of the entire society. Based on our findings from the questionnaire, we make some important recommendations for the students.

The article discusses the linguistic image of war as an element of the linguistic worldview, based onstatements made by students of years 4-7. The author follows Jerzy Bartmiński’s assumption that a linguisticworldview is a linguistic interpretation of reality, which can be defined as a set of judgements about the world. These judgements may be fixed in the language itself, in its grammatical forms, lexicon, clichéd texts (e.g. proverbs), or as implied linguistic forms and texts. Language is a means of interpreting the world and the words used not so much to “render a photographic reproduction of things” as to “portray” them mentally. The author, inspired by Franciszek Hinczer’s research on war conducted in 1919 among students aged 8-14, asked students of two primary schools (302 people in total) about their opinions on the same topic. The students taking part in the research, conducted a hundred years after the study was published in the Szkoła Powszechna journal, answered the following questions: What do they think a war is? What do people do during a war? What do adults do during a war and what do children do? The students’ statements were analyzed and categorized. Each selected category was illustrated with sample answers from the respondents. The presentation of the results was preceded by an analysis of the notion and image of war in selected dictionaries of the Polish language.

Aim. The aim of this study is to define teacher competencies and some specific differences in self-assessment with regard to the completion of studies according to the new or the old curriculum. Efforts were also made to gain insight into the specific deficiencies of the competencies related to the integrated education and training of children with developmental disabilities. Methodology. The research was conducted on a sample of 212 regular primary school teachers who dealt with children with disabilities in their work. A questionnaire constructed for the purposes of this research was used. Previously, a pilot study was conducted. Participants were divided into two groups. One group of teachers who were educated according to the old program and teachers who were educated according to the new program in the broad context of working with children with disabilities. Results. The obtained results indicate differences between the observed groups and the need for continuous (self) assessments of teachers’ responsibilities to enable students with disabilities to learn and thrive in line with their abilities as well as to find alternative ways to meet their different needs in a wider sense. Also, teachers are aware of the need for continuous training in this area. These findings have contributions in the scientific and practical sense.

This paper presents partial results of a comparative research aimed at developing professional competencies of teachers with an emphasis on activities with children with special educational needs, including gifted children. The aim was to determine whether there are differences between teachers with different length of teaching experience and students - future teachers in the subjective assessment of their performance in selected professional activities. We also investigated whether there is a correlation between variables (length and difficulty of teaching experience of professional activity). The research instrument was a questionnaire of our own design. The sample included 318 respondents: teachers with different length of teaching experience (n = 160) and master’s students of faculties of MBU** (n = 158). The data obtained were processed using descriptive statistics with many variables tools and interpreted at the chosen level of statistical significance (p <0.05). The results indicate the presence of statistically significant differences between the two groups and the presence of correlations between variables. It provides a firm foundation for the necessary changes in undergraduate teacher training and preparation for the implementation of inclusive education.

Although one of the education’s major goals is to find efficient ways to integrate web-based technologies with the traditional teaching methods applied in teaching-learning process, little research has been made in this area. The article provides the study of the educational value of Web Quests in teaching foreign languages at universities, their role in fostering students’ basic competencies and enhancing their critical thinking. Presented is a Web Quest created by first-year students of Vinnytsia Institute of Economics of Ternopil National Economic University with its further detailed description. Provided are some results of the experiment, which prove the didactic efficiency of Web Quests, integrated with other teaching methods, for improving students’ autonomous learning skills.

Budowanie systemu wiedzy, poznawanie rzeczywistości, rozwój nauki, rozumienie świata i komunikowanie się związane są z refleksją metodologiczną nad strukturą i zasadami przeprowadzania procesu badawczego, konceptualizacją, operacjonalizacją, analizą i sposobami prezentowa-nia wyników badań. Przedmiotem podjętych badań były wiedza i postawy studentów dotyczące metodologii i metodyki badań naukowych niezbędnych do tworzenia prac magisterskich (typy, rodzaje i etapy badań; strategie ilościowe i jakościowe; metody, techniki i narzędzia badawcze). Badania przeprowadzono przy użyciu eksperymentu pedagogicznego (badanie postaw studentów za pomocą skali Thurstone‟a), obserwacji pedagogicznej i wywiadu częściowo kierowanego. Wykazano, że warsztaty pozwalają studentom nie tylko na rozwijanie myślenia naukowego pod-czas podejmowania działań intelektualnych i komunikacyjnych w przestrzeni uniwersyteckiej (np. podczas pisania prac magisterskich), ale także dostrzeganie konieczności organizowania tego typu zajęć w celu kształtowania odpowiedniego podejścia do współczesnych problemów naukowych i komunikacyjnych.
Construction of a system of knowledge, knowing of reality, development of science, understanding of the world and communication are associated with methodological reflection about the structure and rules of conduction of process research, conceptualization, operationalization, analysis and ways of presentation of research results. The object of the research was the knowledge and attitudes about research methodology and methods of scientific studies necessary for the creation of master‟s theses (types, types and stages of research, strategy, quantitative and qualitative methods, techniques and research tools) students. The study was based on the experience of teaching (the study of the attitudes of students using the Thurstonescale), observation of teaching and partially directed interview. It has been shown that workshops on research methodology allow students to develop scientific thinking during intellectual and communicational activities at the university (eg. during master's thesis creation), but also the perception of the need to organize such activities in order to shape the right approach to contemporary problems of learning and communication.

The paper concerns information literacy of college/university students. The learning outcomes in this area may be based on so-called threshold concepts, i.e. ideas, which – once understood, irreversibly transform skills, knowledge and attitudes related to a given subject, phenomenon, or experience. The most important initiative in this context is the Framework for Information Literacy for Higher Education, developed by the Association of College and Research Libraries (ACRL), and accepted in the year 2016.
Artykuł dotyczy edukacji informacyjnej studentów. Efekty kształcenia w tym zakresie można oprzeć na tzw. koncepcjach progowych, czyli ideach, które – gdy zostaną pojęte – otwierają nowe pespektywy poznawcze, powodują transformację umiejętności, wiedzy i postaw, a nawet zmianę światopoglądu. Najważniejszą współczesną inicjatywą w tym kontekście jest amerykański Framework for Information Literacy for Higher Education, opracowany przez Association of College and Research Libraries w roku 2016.

Opis:
Acquisition of new terminology in a foreign language is one of fundamental challenges encountered by all translators. Next to the lexical level it is necessary to learn a necessary scope of professional knowledge, enabling the translator to use appropriately the newly acquired vocabulary that often refers to issues which are not known to him/her well even in a native language. The author of the paper deliberates on the methods of effective teaching of specialist language, including mainly legal and economic terminology, required from candidates for sworn translators. She proposes the task based learning consisting of practical translations of selected texts, representing typical genres of speech in the spheres of communication under discussion.
Poznanie terminologii specjalistycznej w języku obcym jest jednym z podstawowych wyzwań dla każdego tłumacza. Obok warstwy leksykalnej konieczne jest także przyswojenie niezbędnego zakresu wiedzy merytorycznej, umożliwiającej tłumaczowi prawidłowe posługiwanie się nowym słownictwem, często dotyczącym kwestii niezbyt dobrze znanych nawet w języku ojczystym. Opis:
Strength of educational system depends upon the quality pf teachers. Teachers have always been considered as one of the noblest professions. (Naz, 2016). Students are generally influenced by their teachers because they spend most of their time at school (Rahaman, 2010; Rosen, 2010). To teach students according to today’s standards, teachers need to understand subject matter deeply and flexibly so that they can help students create useful cognitive maps, relate one idea to another, and address misconceptions. Teachers need to see how ideas connect across fields and to everyday life. Teachers use suitable strategies and resources to follow instructions according to the needs of the needs of individuals and groups of students. Teachers should guide pupils learning in analyzing. Teachers should provide manifold models and explanations of concepts behaviors and skills. Teachers provide creative and critical thinking, problem solving ability, curiosity. They should know how to use various technological and communication. They should believe in change and flexibility in teaching learning process (Rahaman, 2010; Rosen, 2010).
