    The paper is devoted to the learner‟s capacity for autonomous foreign language learning, as well as to the role of the teacher in shaping cognitive, metacognitive and socioaffective strategies, which can contribute to effective language education in particular ways. Nowadays teachers can-not neglect skills falling into the „learn to learn” category, which are included in the university teacher training and handbooks only to a very limited degree. The need to focus on such skills is illustrated by the results of surveys conducted among foreign language students, demonstrating their very limited awareness of language learning strategies.

    Zastanawiając się nad obecnym koncepcyjnym ukierunkowaniem nauczania, nakłada się kilka aspektów: potrzeby ekonomiczne społeczeństwa, nowsze badania mózgu, wpływ technologii cyfrowych, personologiczne podejścia do uczenia się, z naciskiem na koncepcję uczenia się skoncentrowanego na uczniu. W tym artykule postaramy się podejść do specyfiki koncepcji uczenia się zorientowanej na ucznia (SCL – Student centered learning) w oparciu o wstępną analizę porównawczą tradycyjnej i nowoczesnej koncepcji dydaktycznej. Przedmiotem analizy będą teoretyczne podstawy SCL i praktyczne pytania dotyczące jego zastosowania w edukacji szkolnej, dydaktyczne pytania dotyczące organizacji i metodyki nauczania w SCL.
    Reflecting on the current conceptual focus of teaching, several aspects overlap: the economic needs of society, newer brain research, the impact of digital technologies, personological approaches to learning with emphasis on the concept of student-centered learning. In this paper, we will try to approach the specifics of the student-centered learning concept (SCL), based on the initial comparative analysis of traditional and modern didactic concept. The subject of the analysis will be theoretical foundations of SCL and practical questions of its application in school education, didactic questions of organization and teaching methodic within SCL.
    V reflexii súčasného koncepčného zamerania vyučovania sa prelína viacero aspektov: ekonomické potreby spoločnosti, novšie výskumy mozgu, vplyv digitálnych technológií, personologické prístupy k vyučovaniu s dôrazom na koncept vyučovania zameraného na žiaka (SCL). V tomto príspevku sa pokúsime na základe východiskovej porovnávacej analýzy tradičného a moderného didaktického konceptu priblížiť špecifičnosti konceptu Student centered learning (SCL). Predmetom analýzy budú teoretické základy SCL a praktické otázky jeho aplikácie v školskej výchove, didaktické otázky organizácia a metodiky vyučovania v rámci SCL.

    In the article below, We explore the level of strategies of modern youth, in the context of various ways of adapting to school and being a student in schools of diverse educational potential. For research purposes, We have used an original, five-stage scale to measure student strategies. We developed the scaled based on the Theory of Social Adaptation by R. K. Merton. Adaptation can be implemented through attitudes of conformity, innovation, ritualism, retreatism and rebellion. The analysis presented is part of a larger project on youth adaptation strategies. The results obtained show the differences in the occurrence of strategies in different types of schools.

    In context of current psychological and pedagogical works, pupils/students are treated as active „players” who are able to deal with unfavorable educational environment effectively. In response to that, they experience in schools or universities every day, they use different strategies of coping with formal and informal requirements. These strategies are one of the dimensions of the so-called hidden curriculum. The purpose of this article is - on the basis of the content’s analysis of the UJ pedagogy student essays - to reconstruct the students strategies of coping in university and its determinants. Studying at the university students gain an informal knowledge that pedagogy is a low social status field of studying, is not particularly forwardlooking, the education they obtain is incomplete. To increase their chances at the labor market, they are taking part in various forms of training, also outside of the university. This spontaneous activity gives them worldly wisdom, sense of agency, personal growth, developing self-confidence and a better future. The attractiveness of the so-called patchwork education weakens their interest in official knowledge and formal education. Students learn many negative coping strategies at the university. Their primary goal is to gain profits - graduation - while minimizing their time and commitment. Strategies used by them survival and „working an angle” are examples of violations of the law, teach instrumental approach to: knowledge, teachers or peers. The results of the research showed that these strategies have demoralizing effect on other students, reducing their motivation and academic ambitions. A number of the strategies referred to in the paper disclose different dimensions of bogus student life and undermine various myths concerning the centuries-old mission of the university.

    This review study aims to provide an overview of previous research on learning strategies used by students studying in a distance-learning form. The basic sources for research were the Web of Science, Research, Gate and Google Scholar databases. We also proceeded with a subsequent search based on frequent citations, using the Internet search engine Google.In accordance with the aim of this study, we sought answers to the following research questions in the analysis:1. Which learning strategies are most frequently used by students studying in a distance-learning form?2. In connection with which factors influencing distance-learning outcomes are learning strategies examined?3. Which research methods are used to study distance-learning strategies?We came to the following conclusions: In distance learning, it is necessary to help students develop their autonomous learning competence, knowledge of diverse learning strategies and reflective use of learning strategies, and increase the repertoire of reading strategies used by students. For some distance-learning students, however, the use of diverse learning strategies poses an issue; adult distance-learning students use only a fairly limited repertoire of learning strategies. Adult students use only those learning strategies which have worked for them in the past and are therefore convinced of their effectiveness. The most frequently used learning strategies for distance-learning students are retelling the text in their own words, with which students check whether they have understood the text sufficiently, compilation of an overview of information based on the read text, and the use of mnemonics.In connection with the factors influencing distance-learning outcomes, research has shown that there is a relationship between the degree of cognitive development and the use of a broader repertoire of learning strategies. It was found that the effectiveness of learning in self-directed learning and the use of a wider repertoire of learning strategies are closely related to students’ mood, selfconfidence, self-assurance, and perseverance. In this study of learning strategies, quantitative and qualitative research methods are applied. However, mixed method research design is the most commonly used approach.
    Niniejsze badanie przeglądowe ma na celu przedstawienie wcześniejszych badań na temat strategii uczenia się stosowanych przez studentów studiujących na odległość. Podstawowym źródłem badań były bazy danych Web of Science, Research Gate i Google Scholar. Przystąpiliśmy również do kolejnego wyszukiwania w oparciu o częste cytowania z wykorzystaniem wyszukiwarki internetowej Google.Zgodnie z celem niniejszego badania, w analizie poszukiwaliśmy odpowiedzi na następujące pytania badawcze:1. Jakie strategie uczenia się najczęściej stosują na studiach studenci studiujący na odległość?2. W związku z którymi czynnikami wpływającymi na efekty uczenia się na odległość są najczęściej badane strategie uczenia się?3. Jakie metody badawcze są wykorzystywane do badania strategii uczenia się na odległość?Doszliśmy do następujących wniosków: W przypadku nauczania na odległość jest ważna pomoc studentom w rozwijaniu ich kompetencji w zakresie samodzielnego uczenia się, znajomość różnorodnych strategii uczenia się i refleksyjnego wykorzystania strategii uczenia się, a także rozwijanie repertuaru strategii czytania stosowanych przez studentów. Jednak dla niektórych studentów uczących się na odległość stosowanie różnych strategii uczenia się może stanowić pewien problem, ponieważ korzystają jedynie z dość ograniczonego repertuaru strategii uczenia się. Dorośli studenci używają tylko tych strategii uczenia się, które sprawdziły się w przeszłości i dlatego są przekonani o ich skuteczności. Najczęściej stosowaną strategią uczenia się w przypadku uczenia się na odległość jest powtarzanie tekstu własnymi słowami. Dzięki niemu studenci sprawdzają, czy dobrze zrozumieli tekst, tworzą zestawienie przeglądu informacji na podstawie przeczytanego tekstu i wykorzystują mnemotechniki. Badania wykazały, że istnieje związek między stopniem rozwoju poznawczego a stosowaniem szerszego repertuaru strategii uczenia się. Stwierdzono, że skuteczność uczenia się i stosowanie szerszego repertuaru strategii uczenia się jest ściśle związana z nastrojem ucznia, pewnością siebie i wytrwałością.W badaniach strategii uczenia się są stosowane ilościowe i jakościowe metody badawcze, jednak najczęściej stosowane są metody mieszane.

    The aim of the article is to indicate the correlations between an individual learning style of a dyslectic child and their preferred strategies. The first part of the article discusses the developmental dyslexia which is considered to be the reflection of individual learning differences. The second part presents the portrait of a dyslectic student with particular emphasis put on their individual learning style and applied strategies. The final part of the text includes an attempt to indicate practical implications in the context of shaping autonomous attitudes of students with developmental dyslexia.

    Dialogue in the Classroom: Teaching Strategies and Their Reception by Students – The paper aims to explore Student Voice research within the academic context in terms of theoretical assumptions and a practical approach to its application in the classroom. In the first part, we focus on three main themes which build the explanatory framework: (1) Italian language teaching at Polish universities, (2) the current teaching methodology implemented in the classroom, and (3) Student Voice as a tool to better plan teaching activities. In the second part, we present the findings of a survey conducted among students learning Italian at the Faculty of Applied Linguistics, and we analyze their value for the teaching and learning process.
    Dialog w klasie: strategie nauczania i ich postrzeganie przez studentów – Celem artykułu jest przedstawienie wyników badania ankietowego stanowiącego przykład zastosowania tzw. Głosu Studenta, czyli podejścia pedagogicznego zmierzającego do optymalizacji procesu nauczania. W pierwszej części przedstawione zostały trzy zgadnienia tworzące ramę teoretyczną: (1) nauczanie języka włoskiego na poziomie akademickim w Polsce, (2) współczesne trendy metodologiczne stosowane w klasie oraz (3) Głos Studenta jako narzędzie zapewniające bardziej skuteczne planowanie działań dydaktycznych. W drugiej części, przybliżono wyniki ankiety przeprowadzonej wśród studentów uczących się języka włoskiego na Wydziale Lingwistyki Stosowanej oraz omówiono ich przydatność w procesie nauczania i uczenia się.

    The purpose of this article is to characterize gamification as an increasingly popular contemporary method of teaching, which is part of the StudentCentered Learning trend. The SCL philosophy, which promotes studentcentered approach as the central issue of the learning process, indicates gamification as one of the most effective and the most interesting method of motivating students to be put in the effort in gaining knowledge and derive satisfaction from their achievements in the scientific field. As indicated by the authors, finding the motivation and maintaining it at an adequate level in the process of teaching, is not an easy task, and the problem posed by its absence is becoming more common in Polish and European higher education system. This evaluation is confirmed by the studies of the authors within domestic and foreign literature. The most common causes of amotivation, presented in the article, could be gradually solved just through gamification — teaching methodology, which uses the game mechanics. Gamification, based on the teaching through activating students, encouraging them to a self-activity, a creative rivalry and a cooperation, is nowadays increasingly used in an academic field, where the authors have found numerous interesting examples. The authors of the text are outlining the principles and advantages of using gamification, the potential areas of application as well as interesting projects with its use. They also postulate to change the current paradigm of teaching by replacing the often inefficient ‘feeding’ teaching methods of transmitting knowledge with more active form, wherein gamification is fully applicable.

    Metacognition is a complex construct widely investigated in SLA studies, also those that focus on reading skills and reading comprehension. Ample research points to metacognition as a strong predictor in developing foreign language reading skills, thus promoting metacognitive strategies in FL education is highly recommended. This paper presents a report on a study in which Polish FL learners kept a diary for a period of one month and wrote comments in reference to the reading classes in which they participated. The data obtained from the students’ narrations allowed to examine the learners’ metacognitive beliefs defined in the study as knowledge about cognition, consisting of three components: person knowledge, task knowledge, and strategy knowledge (Flavell, 1981). The diary data were analyzed in a global narrative way, which enabled the researcher to examine a complex character and a dynamic nature of metacognition in relation to the reading lessons. The findings underline a double role that learner diaries played in this study: as a research tool useful in investigating learners’ metacognition and an effective task that seemed to facilitate the learners’ reflection skills.

    В статье на основе лингводидактической литературы обсуждаются дефиниции автономии (H. Komorowska, W. Wilczyńska, A. Janowski, M. Pawlak, K. Pawłowska, K. Droździał-Szelest, E. Koralewska). Анализируется проблема взаимозависимости автономии учителя и учащегося. Обращается внимание на пределы автономии ученика и учителя. Презентируются некоторые вопросы, связанные с формированием автономии на уроках иностранного языка. Подчеркивается, что в автономической деятельности существенное значение имеет деятельностный подход, а также стратегии обучения, которые облегчают обучение иностранному языку. 
    In the article, definitions of autonomy on the basis of glossodidactic literature (H. Komorowska, W. Wilczyńska, A. Janowski, M. Pawlak, K. Pawłowska, K. Droździał-Szelest, E. Koralewska) are given. The issue of the correlation between the autonomy of the student and the autonomy of the teacher is analysed. The attention is paid to the borders between the student’s autonomy and the teacher’s autonomy. The issues connected with shaping the autonomy during foreign language lessons are presented. It is emphasized that in the autonomic approach, task approach is the key issue, as well as teaching strategies which simplify foreign language teaching and learning.
