On 3 and 4 June 2014, the Institute of Civil Engineering of the Poznań University of Technology, together with the Division of Wielkopolska of the Polish Society of Bridge Engineers, held a seminar on "Contemporary methods of bridge construction, reinforcement and reconstruction" in the Delicjusz hotel in Rosnówko near Poznań.

This survey research aimed to determine the status of and compliance to and adherence to the quality standards system by the maritime schools in the Philippines. Frequency, mean and standard deviations were the descriptive statistics used and t-test, analysis of variance, stepwise multiple regression analysis and Pearson’s r were the inferential statistics used. The participants’ perceived the status of the quality standards system among maritime schools as ‘strong’. The participants’ perceived the compliance with and adherence to the quality standards system among the maritime schools as “very high”. Location of school, enrolment size, faculty size, size of support staff, accreditation, position in school, work experience and educational preparation are significant predictors of the status, compliance with and adherence to the quality standards system in maritime schools. No significant relationships existed between the participants’ perception of the compliance and adherence to quality standards system among maritime schools and personal-related factors.

The Merchant Shipping (Training and Certification) Regulations of Kenya adapt The International Convention on Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers (STCW Convention) and the Standard Training, Certification, and Watchkeeping (STCW Code) for Seafarers. The STCW Convention and Code defines the quality standards at a minimum requirement as the harmonized threshold for contracting parties, which includes Kenya. Educational Institutions in Kenya primarily uses Quality Management Systems in application of quality to education and training. This is however contrary to the requirements of the STCW Convention and Code for institutions engaged in Maritime Education and Training. The paper focusses in assessing the extent of non-compliance, the circumstantial challenges and thereafter proposes a framework to address challenges in implementing Quality Standard Systems.

The main aim of presented article is to present methodology how sophisticated products as compressor equipment can be considered and analysed as a complex technical system which consists of jointly operating components – a set of hardware, software, operational staff and documented information. In process modelling, these components are interacting in different processes of inputs, outputs, mechanisms (resources) or management. Based on the regulatory requirements for each component of the system, a key efficiency indicator can be identified. This allows to control the process and make appropriate decisions to improve the system. The application of the proposed methodology for the development and implementation of an integrated management system reduce the cost of resources and significantly improve the quality of the implementation of processes.

This article proposes to consider the education system as a factor in the formation of people's personal values. We examine students' perceptions of the degree to which existing educational standards are oriented towards the formation and development of personal values, as well as formulate proposals for the implementation of a systems approach to the development of educational standards as a factor in improving the existing complex of personal values. The methodology applied included: desk analysis by comparison, deduction, and induction; a questionnaire study; variance, discriminant, factor and morphological analysis. Respondents were segmented according to the criteria "presence of groups of values" — "conjugation of groups of values with variables." University students, i.e., the part of society that is considered the most active and progressive, were found to have a low level of moral and ethical values. After considering the place of education in the macro-environment of the country was substantiated, we propose a number of measures to address the problem of raising the level of values among all participants in the educational process, in order to reduce the gap between the pace of technical advancement and humanitarian development of society.

Life in good health and health security prove the most significant values highlighted by moral philosophy in the time of the environmental crisis. The imperfect operation of healthcare poses a threat for humans. Administrative measures regulate insufficiently medicine and healthcare. They need to be backed up by ethics, which cannot be seen solely as ethics of an individual’s conscience. What is needed is professional, practice-oriented and institutionalized-within-healthcare-organizations ethics. Recently, there have appeared a great number of new international documents setting standards of medical procedures in compliance with the requirements of the new bioethical values. At the same time elements of the ethical infrastructure such as bioethics commissions or committees have been created. In the face of the specificity and the complexity of ethical issues and problems encountered within contemporary medical practice the requirement of high ethical competence of all healthcare workers often fails to be sufficient.

Opis:
General opinion prevailing among electricians belonging to Association of Polish Electrical Engineers is that standardization in Poland leaves much to be desired. Such opinions are instigated by nostalgia, by hankering after bygone times, when each country used to create its own set of standards. These standards related only loosely to other countries’ standards. The authors of Polish standards were able to decide whether to follow the examples of German, French, or – in 1940s and 1950s – Soviet standards. Some memories and reminiscences go back even further, to 1920s, when Polish state entrusted the standardization matters to Association of Polish Electrical Engineers. The newest standards in the field of electrical engineering are reviewed in the paper.
W środowisku elektryków skupionych w Stowarzyszeniu Elektryków Polskich, wyrażana jest opinia, że stan normalizacji w Polsce pozostawia sporo do życzenia. Opinie te biorą początek z nostalgii za minionymi czasami, gdy każdy kraj tworzył swój zbiór norm, dość luźno powiązany z normami innych krajów. Twórcy norm polskich sami decydowali o wzorowaniu się na normach niemieckich, francuskich, czy w latach 40-50-tych XX w. na normach radzieckich. Jeszcze dalsze nostalgie sięgają lat 20-tych ubiegłego wieku, gdy państwo polskie powierzyło sprawy normalizacji Stowarzyszeniu Elektryków Polskich. Dokonano przeglądu najnowszych publikacji normalizacyjnych dotyczących elektryki i elektrotechniki.

The purpose of the work is to present the results of a study conducted in Krakow with the participation of a group of football hooligans into their understanding of patriotism and how patriotism is demonstrated in hooligans’ activities. The authors start from the assumption that a specific understanding of patriotism has its consequences in the form of specific behaviours, often associated with hate speech, incitement to hate crimes, and all that we call radicalization. Such a situation causes great tension and feelings of guilt which are neutralized using techniques aimed at minimizing them. From the viewpoint of the concept by David Matza and Gresham M. Sykes (1957), the authors try to demonstrate how the dissonance between emotions, knowledge, and behaviour is neutralized by the respondents.
Celem artykułu jest zaprezentowanie wyników badań realizowanych w Krakowie w grupie pseudokibiców, dotyczących rozumienia pojęcia patriotyzmu i jego realizacji w aktywności pseudokibicowskiej. Punktem wyjścia jest założenie, że specyficzne rozumienie patriotyzmu ma swoje konsekwencje w postaci konkretnych zachowań, związanych często z mową nienawiści, nawoływaniem do przestępstw z nienawiści i z tym wszystkim, co nazywamy radykalizacją. Taka sytuacja powoduje duże napięcie i poczucie winy, które jest neutralizowane przez stosowanie technik mających na celu jego zminimalizowanie. Z perspektywy koncepcji Davida Matzy i Greshama M. Sykesa (1957) autorki starają się pokazać, w jaki sposób rozdźwięk pomiędzy emocjami i wiedzą a zachowaniem neutralizowany jest przez respondentów.

Artykuł dotyczy aktualnej tematyki zwiększania efektywności energetycznej w firmach. We wprowadzeniu omówiono problem coraz większego zapotrzebowania na energię w skali całej gospodarki. Jednocześnie zwrócono uwagę na nieefektywne wykorzystywanie dostępnych zasobów energii i wymieniono główne przyczyny tej sytuacji. Następnie scharakteryzowano oferowane na rynku nowoczesne komputerowe systemy zarządzania energią (EMS — Energy Management System) oraz wskazano zalety stosowania takich systemów. Przedstawiono etapy budowy systemu EMS i działań organizacyjnych wymaganych do wprowadzenia zarządzania energią do struktury organizacyjnej firmy, zgodnie z wytycznymi normy PN-EN ISO 50001 oraz ogólnie stosowanymi standardami ISO 9001 i ISO 14001. W końcowej części artykułu zaprezentowano przykłady systemów EMS zastosowanych w firmie telekomunikacyjnej i w zakładzie górniczym. W podsumowaniu wyrażono nadzieję, że korzyści wynikające z zastosowania systemów EMS mogą stanowić zachętę dla zainteresowanych firm do kształtowania swojej polityki energetycznej przy użyciu takich systemów.
The article concerns the increase of energy efficiency in companies. At the beginning of the article the authors discussed the issue of the increasing demand for energy in the whole economy. At the same time, the focus was put on inefficient use of available energy resources and the reasons of this situation were listed. Then modern energy management systems (EMS) were presented, along with their advantages. Next, the authors presented the phases of an EMS system construction and operations required to introduce energy management to the organizational structure of the company, in compliance with the requirements of PN-EN ISO 50001 and commonly used standards ISO 9001 and ISO 14001. The final part of the article features the examples of EMS systems applied in a telecommunications company and in a coal mine. In the summary the authors expressed their hope that the benefits resulting from the application of EMS systems can be encouraging for the interested companies to shape their energy policy with the use of such systems.

The term "CAD systems" and its meaning in cattle housing design in accordance with technological standards was described. There were advantages of CAD systems as compared with drawing on paper. The application of this system was shown both for two-dimensional and three-dimensional drawings of technological systems of cattle housing.

The concept of quality is inextricably related to achieving assigned purposes by an organization in an effective and efficient manner1 . When it comes to high quality of audits, it is manifested primarily by conducting procedures according to standards recognized not only at the national, but also international level2 . Like any term, “quality” needs some explanation as well. The aim of the article is to outline the issues of quality assurance and control according to the current international standards (The INTOSAI Framework of Professional Pronouncements, IFPP). The analysis of the documents indicates imprecision and inconsistency of the existing approach with regard to the separated parts of the above-mentioned system. The following sections of the article refer to the understanding of the issues of quality assurance and control in individual principles, standards and guidelines of INTOSAI in order to finally formulate the concept of the chain quality that can be concluded from these documents.

The article presents a general structure of the OSH Management Systems in accordance to the new standard and underlines requirements specific to chosen OSH management processes – either broadened or refined in relation to requirements formed in the presently existing standards.

This is the final push for the new Occupational Safety & Health standard ISO 45001 Occupational health and safety management systems - Requirements with guidance for use which has been under preparation since 2013. It is widely expected for the new standard to be published in 2018 at the latest. EcoGem Project was conducted in scope of ICT Green Cars Initiative under the Seventh Framework Program, during 2010-2013 period. EcoGem Consortium’s aim was to provide ICT-based solutions increasing the mobility of Fully Electric Vehicles (FEV). It included suitable monitoring, analysis, reasoning and management capabilities, which increased the autonomy and energy efficiency of FEVs. One of the Project’s goals was to deliver a significant contribution into standardization activities concerning management of external information provided to ADAS systems. During the project development, a contact with various standardization organizations was established. We contributed to the standard development activities of OGC and TISA. The article presents the proposed solutions with regard to EcoGem functionalities. Described in the article standardization contribution includes new FEV oriented propositions of specifications for transmission of multi-modal traffic and travel information as well as the attributes defining charging stations.
