SPLITTING SOLUTIONS
Opis:
The crisis is beginning to be identified with contradictory information and personal as well as professional experience more and more, while internal convictions and positions are increasingly subject to 'double ties', described in psychology by the term splitting. It is for this reason that handling the phenomenon of splitting (splitting solutions) is a new challenge, especially for managers in changing organizations and a continuously changing picture, meaning, and psychological coloring of the concept of crisis.

This paper is based on the element splitting operation for binary matroids that was introduced by Azadi as a natural generalization of the corresponding operation in graphs. In this paper, we consider the problem of determining precisely which graphic matroids M have the property that the element splitting operation, by every pair of elements on M yields a graphic matroid. This problem is solved by proving that there is exactly one minor-minimal matroid that does not have this property.

Slater introduced the point-addition operation on graphs to characterize 4-connected graphs. The Г-extension operation on binary matroids is a generalization of the point-addition operation. In general, under the Г-extension operation the properties like graphicness and cographicness of matroids are not preserved. In this paper, we obtain forbidden minor characterizations for binary matroids whose Г-extension matroids are graphic (respectively, cographic).

Opis:
The avoid the loss of well-posedness in the post localization range, some continuum damage theories for elastic materials introduce higher order gradients of the damage variable into constitutive model. Although such theories allow for mathematically correct modelling of the strain localization phenomena, they are usually considered to be very complex to handle from the numerical point of view. The present work deals with the numerical implementation of a gradient-enhanced damage theory for elastic materials. A simple numerical technique, based on the finite element method, is proposed to approximate the solution to the resulting nonlinear mathematical problems. The coupling between damage and strain variables is circumvented by means of a splitting technique.
W niniejszej wersji przedstawiono zastosowanie numeryczne teorii zniszczenia z wyższymi gradientami do materiałów sprężystych. Do przybliżonego rozwiązania otrzymanych nieliniowych zadań matematycznych zaproponowano prostą metodę numeryczną opartą na metodzie elementów skończonych. Użycie metody operatorowej pozwoliło uniknąć sprężenia między zmiennymi opisującymi zniszczenie i odkształcenie.

Opis:
The error analysis of preconditioned waveform relaxation iterations for differential systems is presented. This analysis extends and refines previous results by Burrage, Jackiewicz, Nørsett and Renaut by incorporating all terms in the expansion of the error of waveform relaxation iterations in the Laplace transform domain. Lower bounds for the size of the window of rapid convergence are also obtained. The theory is illustrated for waveform relaxation methods applied to differential systems resulting from semi-discretization of the heat equation in one and two dimensions. This theory and some heuristic arguments predict that preconditioning is most effective for the first few iterations.

Opis:
The aim of this paper is a presentation of forms of flexible work organization, commonly known as job sharing, in both its theoretical and empirical aspects, on the basis of research conducted on a sample of sixty-five businesses. Job sharing has been in use since the 1960s. It is not widely known in Poland to date, but is presently being promoted by the EQUAL Common Initiative, where quite a few projects are financed by the European Social Fund. However, not all aspects of job sharing are stressed by the current wave of interest. In fact, they are quite often limited to its social meaning, thus restricting its use and value. This article argues that job sharing is also a form of work organization for specialized work teams, autonomous groups, and team working. Using job sharing in this context brings more benefits to the enterprise. This, in its turn, may serve as a means of enlarging the use of job sharing, including in its social economic meaning.

We give sufficient conditions for a diffeomorphism in the plane to be analytically conjugate to a shift in a complex neighborhood of a segment of an invariant curve. For a family of functions close to the identity uniform estimates are established. As a consequence an exponential upper estimate for splitting of separatrices is established for diffeomorphisms of the plane close to the identity. The constant in the exponent is related to the width of the analyticity domain of the limit flow separatrix. Unlike the previous works the cases of non-area-preserving maps and parabolic fixed points are included.

The article presents the results of numerical analysis of splitting without waste on the basis of cross wedge rolling in double rolling mechanism. The analysed process concerns rolling the charge of V-shaped groove, and rotary bending causing the split of the material. In the calculations a method of finite elements (FEM) was used. The obtained results allowed detailed analysis of the splitting process in terms of the level of deformation, strains, material breaking, flow kinematics and strength parameters.

This paper designs a five-port transmission grating under normal incidence. Rigorous coupled-wave approach is used to optimize the grating parameters. The energy of the grating is mainly dispersed to the 0th, ±1st and ±2nd orders. The efficiency of each diffraction order under both polarizations is close to 20%. The modal method is used to describe the propagation mechanism of the two polarized lights in the grating, and the diffraction behavior of the grating is analyzed. In addition, the grating has a wide range of incident characteristics and a large process tolerance. Therefore, this five-port beam splitter with a connecting layer will be a good polarization-independent beam splitting device.

Opis:
Let R be a subring of the rationals. We want to investigate self splitting R-modules G, that is, such that $Ext_R(G,G) = 0$. For simplicity we will call such modules splitters (see [10]). Also other names like stones are used (see a dictionary in Ringel's paper [8]). Our investigation continues [5]. In [5] we answered an open problem by constructing a large class of splitters. Classical splitters are free modules and torsion-free, algebraically compact ones. In [5] we concentrated on splitters which are larger than the continuum and such that countable submodules are not necessarily free. The "opposite" case of $ℵ_1$-free splitters of cardinality less than or equal to $ℵ_1$ was singled out because of basically different techniques. This is the target of the present paper. If the splitter is countable, then it must be free over some subring of the rationals by Hausen [7]. In contrast to the results of [5] and in accordance with [7] we can show that all $ℵ_1$-free splitters of cardinality $ℵ_1$ are free indeed.

A possibility of light pulse transformation by transient reflecting medium is investigated theoretically. After solving 1D problem of such a reflection one estimates such a transformation in a plane optical waveguide with time-dependent conductivity of one of the reflected media. Three types of the conductivity time-dependences are considered: harmonic, Bessel-like and splash-like ones. Obtained results show a possibility of pulse splitting under an influence of time-harmonic conductivity and pulse collapse vy the other considered nonstationarities.

Line digraphs can be obtained by sequences of state splittings, a particular kind of operation widely used in symbolic dynamics [12]. Properties of line digraphs inherited from the source have been studied, for instance in [7] Harminc showed that the cardinalities of the sets of kernels and solutions (kernel's dual definition) of a digraph and its line digraph coincide. We extend this for (k,l)-kernels in the context of state splittings and also look at (k,l)-semikernels, k-Grundy functions and their duals.
