This paper investigates a particular aspect of teaching languages for special purposes. The article focuses on the cultural component in the analysis of error in the collocation in Wort und Schrift that occurs in job applications written by students of Applied Linguistics. Learners of German as a foreign language for special purposes use the mother tongue and they coin words that do not exist in German. Errors of this type are a result of the cultural differences between languages and in-adequate intercultural competence.

This article’s aim is to enrich the reflection on how digital corpora studies can contribute to the analysis of specialized combinations. In order to evaluate this contribution, our objective will be to distinguish different kinds of word combinations into professional speeches for the catering area with the help of semantic and pragmatic aspects. First, we will assess the role devoted to word combinations into the teaching of French as a Foreign Language, then, we will present the methodology used to analyse the corpus before finally presenting the results.

Die große Beachtung verdienende Fachsprachenlinguistik ermöglicht es, einzelne Fachsprachen in beinahe alle Einzelteile zu zerlegen. Der Stellenwert der Fachsprachen ist zum gegenwärtigen Zeitpunkt unzweifelhaft von Relevanz. Die das fachliche Wissen transferierenden Fachsprachen gestatten es, u. a. unterschiedliche, für ein gegebenes Gebiet typische Phänomene zu bestimmen. Mitsamt der permanenten Entwicklung der Wissenschaften entwickeln sich auch die Fachsprachen. Eine der Fachsprachen, die sich geradezu in rasender Geschwindigkeit entfaltet, ist die hier analysierte Medizinsprache. Einer der besonders gravierenden Aspekte der Untersuchungen von Fachsprachen ist die Wortbildung. Das Ziel des vorliegenden Beitrags ist die Darstellung der Adjektivkomposita in der deutschen Fachsprache der Medizin. Im theoretischen Teil wird hauptsächlich eine Informationsskizze über die Fachsprachen im Allgemeinen, die medizinische Fachsprache und über die Wortbildungsart Adjektivkomposition aufgezeigt. Im empirischen Teil wird mittels der qualitativen und der quantitativen Methode untersucht, welche A-Konstituenten die aus der als Korpus dienenden Fachzeitschrift „Deutsches Ärzteblatt“ exzerpierten adjektivischen Komposita enthalten, aus wie vielen Komponenten die dort herausgesuchten Adjektivzusammensetzungen bestehen, wie sie geschrieben werden und welche Fugenmorpheme an ihrer Bildung teilnehmen. Die in dem Beitrag durchgeführte Korpusanalyse beleuchtet die Orientierungsrichtung in der Entwicklung der deutschen Fachsprache der Medizin im Bereich der Wortbildung – hier bezüglich der adjektivischen Komposition – und liefert wesentliche Informationen zur Struktur, Länge und Schreibung der extrahierten adjektivischen Zusammensetzungen.
The linguistics of special languages, which deserves a great deal of attention, makes it possible to break down the various special languages almost to the ground. The position of special languages is undoubtedly relevant at the present time. Transferring specialized knowledge, special languages make it possible to define, among other things, various phenomena typical of a particular field. With the permanent development of sciences, special languages are also evolving. One of the special languages that is developing with tremendous speed is the language of medicine which is analyzed here. One particularly significant aspect of the study of special languages is word formation. The purpose of this article is to present adjectival compounding in German medical language. The theoretical part, first and foremost, presents the informative sketch of special languages in general, of medical language itself and of adjective composition as a type of word formation. In the empirical part, based on the corpus incorporating issues of the professional journal “Deutsches Ärzteblatt” it was investigated (using a qualitative and quantitative method), what a-constituents have the adjective compounds, how many components the adjective compounds retrieved there consist of, how they are written and what linking morphemes participate in their formation. The corpus analysis carried out in the article illuminates the direction of orientation in the development of the German language of medicine in the area of word formation – here with regard to adjective composition – and provides important information on the structure, length and spelling of the extracted adjective compounds.

Artykuł poświęcono zaburzeniom mowy o niejasnej/niejednoznacznej przyczynie. W literaturze przedmiotu funkcjonuje wiele określeń tego typu zaburzeń komunikacji językowej. Jednym z nich jest SLI (specyficzne zaburzenie rozwoju językowego). Zgodnie z ustaleniami międzynarodowych ekspertów zaleca się odejście od terminu SLI na rzecz DLD (rozwojowe zaburzenie językowe/języka). W artykule zaprezentowano przesłanki leżące u podstaw takiego rozwiązania. Jednocześnie omówiono konsekwencje braku w polskim prawie oświatowym terminów określających zaburzenia mowy występujące bez wyraźnej przyczyny.
The article has been devoted to speech disorders of unclear ambiguous cause. There are many alternative terms for this type of language communication disorder in the literature. One of them is SLI (specific language impairment). According to the arrangements of international experts it is recommended to depart from SLI to DLD (developmental language disorder). The article presents the rationale behind this solution. At the same time, the consequences of the lack of terms in Polish educational law that define speech disorders occurring without a clear cause were discussed.

The aim of the paper is the presentation of the complex problem of a lifelong developmental disorder, known as Autistic Spectrum Disorders (ASD), in the context of inclusive education offered to these students in general, and in teaching of English as a Foreign Language in particular. First, the theories and typical symptoms of autism will be outlined, followed by examining the behaviours that enable teachers to recognise these form of disorders during lessons at school. Next we review some strategies and teaching techniques that may prove efficient and successful in the ELT classroom for both teachers and autistic students. Finally, we concentrate on the analysis of the data collected as a result of a small-scale qualitative study conducted among a group of EL teachers involved in teaching autistic learners. The study was designed with the purpose of interviewing teachers about the efficiency and successfulness of the currently recommended teaching techniques in their classrooms with ASD students.

Ma na celu zarysowanie zasad przeprowadzania jakościowej analizy ciągów, które w wyniku zastosowania zautomatyzowanej procedury zostały uznane za kolokacje tzw. potwierdzone. Ilustracją prowadzonych rozważań jest opis właściwości kolokacji czyn zabroniony.
The paper continues with the issue of identification and description of specific collocations existing in legal texts presented in the article included in this volume Collocations in legal texts – procedural issues. Its aim it is to outline the rules of qualitative analysis of sequences which – through the use of automated procedures – are considered as collocations called confirmed. Illustration of this research is description of the properties of collocation prohibited action – ‘czyn zabroniony’.

Artykuł wpisuje się w krąg badań, których celem jest przedstawienie ograniczeń w budowaniu konstrukcji składniowych w tekstach prawnych. Za jeden z przejawów tych ograniczeń uznaje się swoistą łączliwość leksykalną, opisywaną za pomocą pojęcia kolokacji. Kolokacją nazywa się wyrażenie składające się z komponentów, których współwystępowanie jest motywowane leksykalnymi ograniczeniami ich łączliwości. Celem poniższego opracowania jest objaśnienie wstępnej, częś- ciowo zautomatyzowanej procedury rozpoznawania kolokacji w podkorpusie tekstów prawnych z dziedziny prawa karnego.
This article is a part of research dedicated to describe restrictions in the building syntactic structures in legal texts. One of the manifestations of these restrictions is a specific lexical connection, that is described by the concept of collocation. Collocation is defined as an expression consisting of components, whose coexistence is motivated by the lexical restrictions of their connectivity. The aim of this study is to explain the initial partially automated procedure undertaken in recognizing collocations in subcorpus of legal texts – from criminal law.

Celem artykułu jest wykazanie istotności wprowadzania na zajęciach ze specjalistycznego rosyjsko-polskiego i polsko-rosyjskiego tłumaczenia pisemnego tematycznej leksyki specjalistycznej uzupełnianej leksyką należącą do języka ogólnego. Założenie to zostało zilustrowane szeregiem przykładów słownictwa z dziedziny rynku pracy, które może być problematyczne z punktu widzenia semantyki, gramatyki, a także leksyki należącej do języka ogólnego. Odpowiednie zaprezentowanie słownictwa na zajęciach pozwala nie tylko poszerzyć wiedzę terminologiczną studentów z tej czy innej dziedziny, lecz także uwrażliwić ich na potencjalne trudności tłumaczeniowe.
The aim of the paper is to prove the importance of introducing specialised and non-specialised (general language-related) vocabulary during classes on specialised Russian-Polish and Polish-Russian translation. This assumption is illustrated with a number of examples of labour market-related vocabulary that may be challenging as regards semantics, grammar and the use of general language. The proper presentation of vocabulary in a given branch makes it possible not only to broaden students’ terminological knowledge, but also to raise their awareness of potential translational problems.

W artykule jest rozważana możliwość zastąpienia terminu „języki specjalistyczne” przez termin „języki dyskursywne”. Autorka szuka minusów po jednej stronie i plusów po drugiej. Dyskusja teoretyczna poparta jest analizą kilku wybranych języków dyskursywnych, tak na poziomie inter-, jak i intralingwalnym. Ilustracje te mają być argumentem na rzecz wyboru proponowanego terminu.
The main object of this article is to discuss the epistemological difference between two terms: special languages and discourse languages. There seems to be an area of conflict between discoursive point of view and the terminological one. The author attempts to find the advantages on the former and the disadvantages on the latter. The analysis of some discourse languages, at both an inter- and intra-lingual levels, supports the theoretical perspective.

This article describes the origin and development of the teaching of foreign languages for special purposes in Polish schools of higher education. The time frame in question runs from the setting up of Foreign Language Centers to the turning point year, 1989. The conditions, aims and methods of conducting classes with students of non-philological courses are presented in the context of the development of methodology for teaching foreign languages for special purposes in Poland. The picture is supplemented with an analysis of handbooks for teaching German for special purposes, used in the 80s in classes at the Foreign Language Center, the University of Białystok.

The article presents the tenets of the inclusion concept and the ways as well as the problems concerned with its implementation. Special attention has been given to primary school-students with special educational needs in the language classroom. In the article results of a research project are presented. The project had two aims. The first was to elicit the level of implementation of the inclusion concept at Polish primary schools using the example of teaching foreign languages. The other aim was to sensitise the students of applied linguistics – future language teachers – to the challenges concerned with teaching languages to children with special educational needs.

One of the main goals of the reform of the educational system in Poland in 2004 wasto ensure the equality of chances for all as well as social integration. This concept assumed anequal access to the education also for students with special educational needs. The present paperattempts to highlight the problems with implementing the inclusion concept in the languageclassroom. The study presented in the article aims to investigate whether educational institutionsin Poland are ready to implement the concept of inclusion, as well as the competence of foreignlanguage teachers to cope with the diversity in the language classroom.

Opis:
This article concentrates on polish jurnalists special language (technical language). It analises therminological layer of vocabulary of that speciffic code. The description includes various types of terms, i.e. scientific terms, technical terms, branch terms, interbranch terms and transterms. The article presents also the cases of terminological’s forms disappearance and their semantic modification. Considerations are completed by description of mechanisms purposive to creation new terms – neology and neosemantics. The supplement to this article is reference to phenomenon of intralingual interference.
