Opis:
The paper shows that the software development process may be improved by implementation of CMMI standard recommendations and application of experiences from successfully realized and documented previous projects. Significant importance of documentation templates in the improvement process was shown. Practical consequences of irregular resource demand and time-dependant workload were analyzed in the context of software development lifecycle. The occurrence of irregularities may lead to project infeasibility if development time requirements are calculated incorrectly. Additionally, the dependence between team size and team efficiency was analyzed. The results show that improvement of the software development process may be profitable though it requires initial costs. Presented data may be of interest for software designers and software project leaders.

Opis:
Nowadays, much of the crimes committed were unreported to the authorities. Given this fact, the study presents the development of a Crime Management and Reporting System through online and even offline and at the same time is the active participation of the citizens. The idea draws its motivation from the inconvenience of going to the police station and personal belief of the weak investigative capabilities of the authorities to resolve petty crimes and limited spreading of crime information to the community. The project specifically looks into the crime detection and prevention. This study aims to provide an overview of the investigative process and, in doing so, identify effective and efficient approaches to the investigation and detection of the volume of crimes. The review is particularly aimed to highlight the research evidence those investigative practices and actions that are likely to lead to a positive outcome. The development of software includes the process of brainstorming and planning, requirements analysis, system analysis and designs, implementation and testing, deployment, and maintenance. The criteria of evaluation of software quality were adapted in ISO/IEC 25010:20011. This also shows that distance is also a factor that influences greatly how crimes are being handled with many crimes going unreported as a result. Crime Management and Reporting System would really help the complainant and the authority to communicate privately and easily with regards to the reported issue. In addition, it would be easier for the complainant to report a witnessed crime without the fear of getting involved in the problems because of the security that the only authorized user can see the report. Based on the findings, the researchers recommend the following for further study: widening the limit of the system by considering other cities; a generic platform for keeping human records from birth till death, deploying this sort of platform will serve as a source of information on persons from various states within the country and even those outside. Verification using Biometric is highly recommended to enhance the security of data stored in the system. This increases the restriction on access to the system, thus unauthorized users have no access to the system. Face recognition technology can be added.

Opis:
Background: The importance of Software Change Prediction (SCP) has been emphasized by several studies. Numerous prediction models in literature claim to effectively predict change-prone classes in software products. These models help software managers in optimizing resource usage and in developing good quality, easily maintainable products. Aim: There is an urgent need to compare and assess these numerous SCP models in order to evaluate their effectiveness. Moreover, one also needs to assess the advancements and pitfalls in the domain of SCP to guide researchers and practitioners. Method: In order to fulfill the above stated aims, we conduct an extensive literature review of 38 primary SCP studies from January 2000 to June 2019. Results: The review analyzes the different set of predictors, experimental settings, data analysis techniques, statistical tests and the threats involved in the studies, which develop SCP models. Conclusion: Besides, the review also provides future guidelines to researchers in the SCP domain, some of which include exploring methods for dealing with imbalanced training data, evaluation of search-based algorithms and ensemble of algorithms for SCP amongst others.

Background: The use of ensemble techniques have steadily gained popularity in several software quality assurance activities. These aggregated classifiers have proven to be superior than their constituent base models. Though ensemble techniques have been widely used in key areas such as Software Defect Prediction (SDP) and Software Change Prediction (SCP), the current state-of-the-art concerning the use of these techniques needs scrutinization. Aim: The study aims to assess, evaluate and uncover possible research gaps with respect to the use of ensemble techniques in SDP and SCP. Method: This study conducts an extensive literature review of 77 primary studies on the basis of the category, application, rules of formulation, performance, and possible threats of the proposed/utilized ensemble techniques. Results: Ensemble techniques were primarily categorized on the basis of similarity, aggregation, relationship, diversity, and dependency of their base models. They were also found effective in several applications such as their use as a learning algorithm for developing SDP/SCP models and for addressing the class imbalance issue. Conclusion: The results of the review ascertain the need of more studies to propose, assess, validate, and compare various categories of ensemble techniques for diverse applications in SDP/SCP such as transfer learning and online learning.

The level of failure of IT projects is high and has not changed over many years despite improvement in software development processes. One of the obvious reasons for this is shortening the delivery time of information systems in the projects and rapidly changing technology. Quality assurance in software development process is a key issue in ensuring the proper operation of an IT system. In order to know the causes of the problems, it is important to know viewpoints of members of the teams developing software. These views were obtained by carrying out the survey. At the beginning categories of reasons are identified using Ishikawa diagram, a tool for quality management. In the next step an analysis was performed using the Pareto principle. The analysis allowed the identification of the most important causes of errors in the software development process. A detailed analysis of the observed results and appropriate conclusions of this analysis will help improve the processes of software development and collaboration between project management and software development processes.

Dynamic typing of R programming language may issue some quality problems in large scale data-science and machine-learning projects for which the language is used. Following our efforts on providing gradual typing library for Clojure we come with a package chR - a library that offers functionality of run-time type-related checks in R. The solution is not only a dynamic type checker, it also helps to systematize thinking about types in the language, at the same time offering high expressivenes and full adherence to functional programming style.

Using formal methods for software verification slowly becomes a standard in the industry. Overall it is a good idea to integrate as many checks as possible with the programming language. This is a major cause of the apparent success of strong typing in software, either performed on the compile time or dynamically, on runtime. Unfortunately, only some of the properties of software may be expressed in the type system of event the most sophisticated programming languages. Many of them must be performed dynamically. This paper presents a flexible library for the dynamically typed, functional programming language running in the JVM environment. This library offers its users a close to zero run-time overhead and strong mathematical background in category theory.

Opis:
In the age of Information and Communication Technology (ICT), Web and the Internet have changed significantly the way applications are developed, deployed and used. One of recent trends is modern design of web-applications based on SOA. This process is based on the composition of existing web services into a single scenario from the point of view of a particular user or client. This allows IT companies to shorten the producttime to market process. On the other hand, it raises questions about the quality of the application, trade-offs between quality factors and attributes and measurements of these. Services are usually hosted and executed in an environment managed by its provider that assures the quality attributes such as availability or throughput. Therefore, in this paper an attempt has been made to perform quality measurements towards the creation of efficient, dependable and user-oriented Web applications. First, the process of designing service-based applications is described. Next, metrics for subsequent measurements of efficiency, dependability and usability of distributed applications are presented. These metrics will assess the efforts and trade-offs in a Web-based application development. As examples, we describe a pair of multimedia applications which we have developed in our department and executed in a cluster-based environment. One of them runs in the BeesyCluster middleware and the second one in the Kaskada platform. For these applications we present results of measurements and conclude about relations between quality attributes in the presented application development model. This knowledge can be used to reason about such relations for new similar applications and be used in rapid and quality development of the latter.
