    Opis:
    One of the benefits resulting from the implementation of land consolidation works should be the positive socio-economic change felt in rural areas. The aim of this paper is to examine the level of socio-economic development of rural municipalities of Małopolska Region, in which land consolidation projects were implemented in the years 2004–2013. The following were determined: the scope of implementation of land consolidation projects in municipalities of Małopolska Region, and the level of the socio-economic development of those municipalities. The study employed the following methods: analysis and synthesis of the literature, and the application of spatial-statistical approaches. The study determined that the values of the indicator expressing the dynamics of changes to the socio-economic development of municipalities were three times higher for the municipalities in which traditional land consolidation works were implemented as opposed to infrastructural ones. It was also observed that in the municipalities, in which traditional consolidation works were implemented, the level of socio-economic changes always took positive values, thus indicating the socio-economic development advantage compares to the situation in municipalities in which infrastructural consolidation projects were implemented.

    W opracowaniu dokonano analizy zróżnicowania zbioru 89 małych miast województwa wielkopolskiego ze względu na poziom rozwoju społeczno -gospodarczego. Badanie prowadzi sie w układzie pięciu kategorii: 1. ludność, 2. gospodarka, 3. infrastruktura społeczna, 4. infrastruktura techniczna i mieszkalnictwo, 5. kapitał ludzki i społeczny. Końcowym etapem analizy jest klasyfikacja małych miast prowadząca do wydzielenia pięciu klas miast: o bardzo wysokim, wysokim, przeciętnym, niskim i bardzo niskim poziomie rozwoju społeczno -gospodarczego w zakresie analizowanych cech wyjściowych.
    An analysis was made of a set of 89 small towns of wielkopolska voivodeship in terms of their levels of socio-economic development. Five categories were examined: (1) population, (2) economy, (3) social infrastructure, (4) physical infrastructure and housing, and (5) human and social capital. The final stage of the analysis involved a classification of the small towns into five classes: of a very high, high, average, low, and very low level of socio-economic development in terms of the input variables considered

    The purpose of this article is to show the spatial differentiation medium-sized cities in Poland in terms of socio-economic situation. The study is based on a variety of measures of social and economic conditions. The result of the analysis is to rank cities according to the synthetic medium index describing the level of socio-economic development.

    Celem opracowania jest określenie kierunków i skali zmian w poziomie rozwoju społeczno-gospodarczego regionów NUTS 3 w EŚW, jakie zaszły w latach 1999–2011. Wykorzystano do tego metodę analizy danych statystycznych (PKB per capita, realny wzrost PKB). Uzyskane wyniki wskazują, że w latach 1999–2011 we wszystkich krajach EŚW powiększyły się międzyregionalne dysproporcje w poziomie rozwoju, głównie za sprawą dynamicznego rozwoju regionów stołecznych i uprzemysłowionych. W tym okresie, mimo pewnych perturbacji spowodowanych światowym kryzysem gospodarczym, które zaburzyły procesy rozwojowe w tym regionie świata w latach 2008–2011, zdecydowana większość regionów charakteryzowała się wzrostem, niekiedy bardzo znaczącym, realnego PKB per capita. W EŚW istnieją jednak również regiony, w których realny PKB per capita w 2011 r. był mniejszy niż w 1999 r., co może świadczyć o pogorszeniu się ich poziomu rozwoju, a co za tym idzie, poziomu życia ich mieszkańców. Wśród priorytetów polityki spójności realizowanej w krajach EŚW powinno więc znaleźć się nie tylko zmniejszanie skali przestrzennych zróżnicowań w poziomie rozwoju społeczno-gospodarczego, ale także poprawa poziomu życia w regionach, zwłaszcza najsłabiej rozwiniętych.
    The aim of this paper is to identify the direction and the scale of changes in the level of socio-economic development of NUTS 3 regions in CEE in the years 1999-2011. This was examined on the basis of analyses of statistical data (GDP per capita, real GDP growth). The results indicate that in the years 1999-2011 in all CEE countries interregional disparities in the level of socio-economic development increased, mainly due to the dynamic development of metropolitan regions and industrialized areas. During this period, despite some turbulences caused by the global economic crisis, which disturbed the processes of development in CEE in 2008-2011, the vast majority of regions characterized by an increase of, sometimes very significant, real GDP per capita. In CEE, however, there are also regions where real GDP per capita in 2011 was less than in 1999, which may indicate a deterioration of their level of development, and thus, the standard of living of their inhabitants. Among the priorities of the cohesion policy implemented in the CEE countries should, therefore, be found not only reducing the spatial disparities in socio-economic development, but also improving the standard of living in the regions, in particular the least developed

    The article presents an assessment of the level of social and economic development of all 153 towns and cities of the Eastern Region in the years 2005 and 2009. It also determines the changes in ranking of the towns and cities within the researched area according to classes of social and economic development. The research took into account 42 variables, analysed as a whole and within three research areas: social resources, economic potential and living conditions. The analysis allows for conclusions concerning diversity of the levels of development among the towns and cities from the spatial perspective and enables planning of development of the towns and cities both within each province and for the entire Eastern Region.

    Opis:
    Quantitative methods find a great application in analysis processes, diagnoses and economic prognoses by means of description and estimation of forming economic variables in time and space as well as expectations regarding direction and character of changes of these variables are becoming more precise. In the article the Level of socio-economic development of Polish provinces has been analysed. The sequence of individual provinces has been established considering a stated general criterium represented by the suggested variables in the research and cluster analysis has been carried out to isolate subgroups of similar provinces.
    Metody ilościowe znajdują szerokie zastosowanie w procesach analiz, diagnoz i prognoz gospodarczych a przy ich użyciu opis i ocena kształtowania się zmiennych ekonomicznych w czasie lub przestrzeni, jak również przewidywania dotyczące kierunku i charakteru zmian tych zmiennych stają się bardziej precyzyjne. Celem artykułu jest statystyczna analiza poziomu rozwoju społeczno-gospodarczego województw Polski. Ustalono kolejność poszczególnych województw z uwagi na przyjęte kryterium ogólne reprezentowane przez proponowane w badaniu zmienne oraz przeprowadzono analizę skupień celem wyodrębnienia podgrup podobnych województw.

    During recent decades, the rate of structural shifts in the world economy has been especially fast. One of the factors used to influence these processes was to actively develop hi-tech industries and information and communication technologies. With the course of time, the level of informatization of society becomes a defining factor for a country’s competitiveness and predefines its ability to integrate into the global economy. The article characterizes the readiness of different countries to make a move to an innovative way of development based on analysis of combined rating tables that contain integral indices of society’s informatization level. The level of accomplishment of the task to form an innovative type of economy can be assessed in the link between implementation of science and technology progress achievements (i.e.: through the use of information and communication technologies) and the level of socio-economic development of the world countries. Current positions held by Russia and Poland according to some integral indices are also being analyzed.

    International comparative research programmes provide a wealth of knowledge about the results achieved by pupils and the socio-professional status of parents, but there is a lack of research focused on analysing the attitudes of the students themselves towards the learning process and the factors that motivate them to learn. Insufficient in-depth research in the field of education concerns especially sub-Saharan Africa. In June 2016, the author conducted a survey research in all schools located within the district town Miandrivazo. The study was conducted on a group of 581 students. One of the aims of the research was to identify the motives of students to take up school education. Based on the research, we can clearly see that for the surveyed students, education is an instrumental value, a means to achieve their goals. Knowledge acquired at school is also a value in itself for the students. It is a good, a heritage, and the best thing that their parents can offer them.

    The aim of the paper is to investigate the relationship between socio-economic factors and the level of health of citizens of selected European countries. Disability-adjusted life years (DALYs) were used as the measure of health. The author applied dynamic spatial panel data models with fixed effects and spatial autocorrelation of the error term. The models were estimated using a novel, modified quasi maximum likelihood method based on M-estimators. The approach is resistant to deviations from the assumptions on the distribution of initial observations. The estimation of initial observations is a severe weakness of standard methods based on the maximization of the quasi-likelihood function in the case of short panels. M-estimators are consistent and asymptotically normally distributed. The empirical analysis covers the specification, estimation, and verification of the models.
