    Opis:
    The existence of Satan, who may even nowadays possess an object, a place or a person with God’s consent, is widely recognised within the Christian Church. Demonic tormenting of a person may manifest itself either by means of an ordinary action (temptation) or an extraordinary action (up to possession). In the presence of so varied, more and more sublime forms of temptation, both the ability to identify the presence of the Evil One in the world and the need not to disregard his power are crucial. The role of exposing the evil spirit and freeing persons dependent, at various levels, on the devil is closely connected to the ministry of priest-exorcists, for whom it is also a form of a social duty. From this perspective the real action of the evil spirit, the seriousness of the personal and social sins and the need for individual and community recognition may be observed more vividly.

    Artykuł jest próbą analizy niewielkiego wycinak twórczości kaznodziejskiej znanego w kręgach franciszkańskich w XVIII kaznodziei Antoniego Węgrzynowicza. Nauka o grzechu w okresie baroku zajmowała znaczące miejsce w rozważaniach teologów moralistów, czy dogmatyków. Grzech mógł być analizowany z perspektywy jego skutków w życiu obecnym, echo tych myśli słyszalne jest wyraźnie w kazaniach franciszkanina, ale mógł być również ujmowany jako czynnik, niszczący ludzkie życie po śmierci, jako przyczyna potępienia. I tak pojmowany grzech niósł strach i lęk, bo człowiek, który grzeszył miał świadomość, że czyniąc źle niszczy swoje życiu „tu” i „tam”.
    The article is an attempt at analysing a small fragment of preaching of Antoni Węgrzynowicz, known in Franciscan circles in the 18th century. In the Ba-roque period, teaching about sin occupied a significant place in the thought of moral theologians and dogmatists. Sin could be analysed from the perspective of its effects in current life (the echo of these thoughts can clearly be heard in the Franciscan’s sermons), but it could also be presented as a factor destroying human life after death and a cause of damnation. Such an understanding of sin was a bearer of fear, as the sinner was aware that by wrongdoing he destroyed his life “here” and “there”.

    Opis:
    The teachings of Pope Francis described demonstrate how important it is to him to accustom Christians to a merciful lifestyle and to revive the mercy culture. If the way of the Church – as St. John Paul II taught in accordance with the Second Vatican Council – is man, then for Pope Francis, the way of the Church is a man who needs God's mercy in the form of being preached the word of God, repentance, and absolution of sins to, in other words – a sinful and repentant man; and then a man who is poor – who needs material support, restoration of justice and dignity of God's image, spiritual consolation, acceptance, affection and compassion. Christians are obliged to share the mercy granted by God and people with others. They are to imitate merciful Jesus, see Him in the poor and suffering, be the outstretched hands of Christ and of His merciful Mother. The Pope wishes mercy not to be merely talked about, but also to be lived by.
