Opis:
The Catholic Social School of Poznań was one of the leading Polish didactic centers for social services in the interwar period. In the years 1927–1939 it conducted courses for and educated the staff of care and social institutions, especially those related to the Catholic Church. The priority of the school’s activity was to organize, since the establishment of the institution in 1927, a two-year social work training course, later functioning under the name of the Higher Catholic Social College. In June 1937, the school obtained the state rights of the university and the name of the Higher Catholic Social College. The purpose of the article is to show selected aspects of the institution’s functioning, related to its establishment and educational and education activities until 1939. For this purpose, the preserved source materials in the form of archives, articles published in the magazines of the Second Republic of Poland were analyzed, and few studies developed after 1945 were referred to.

The profession of social pedagogue is classified as a helping profession. Social pedagogues can prove their worth in various sectors and work with various target groups. The study analyses legislative possibilities and actual activities of social pedagogues in schools in Slovakia. Social pedagogues working in Slovak elementary and secondary schools carry out primary and secondary prevention, deal with pupils’ problem behaviour, screen for threatened pupils, provide counselling, actively work with pupils from socially disadvantaged environments, co-operate with pupils’ parents and with specialists. The author also briefly elucidates school preventive socio-educational work of social pedagogues in the other V4 countries comparable geographically, historically and culturally.

Social pedagogues’ activities in school have already been anchored in Slovak legislation. Professionalization of preventive socio-educational work in school is a prerequisite for its increased effectiveness and prevention of pupils’ problem behaviour. It is regrettable that school practice so far does not fully respect the school legislation and social pedagogues are rather sporadic in schools.

Opis:
School social work in our conditions is a little-explored sphere of social work both in theory and in research. on the other hand, the current problems in the school environment represent the reasons for designing effective solutions by social workers, what is possible only in cooperation with other professionals and in the environment where they take place, where they arise. Due to the fact that school social work intervenes at the intersection of the school system and the family system, it is necessary to know the current challenges of these interrelated spheres, which could then help to clarify visions about the specifics of school social work. The paper therefore seeks answers to the question of what are the current challenges and trends arising from the requirement for a new quality of interaction between school and family to which it would be desirable to respond through school social work.

Opis:
The sexual economy prevalent within universities, as well as how young people perceive, interpret, and experience their sexuality, present complex dynamics, which, if not handled with great emotional intelligence, may disrupt their educational aspirations. This paper investigates the psycho-social implications of “semester marriages” within institutions of higher learning. Guided by principles of the qualitative approach and the theory of planned action, the paper disinterred that students experienced intense regret and guilt as a result of backstreet abortions. Soul-tie complications emanating from sharing the “wife-husband” bond also made it difficult for some students to move on after a breakup, leading to disruptions in their educational focus. In extreme cases, such an inability to deal with the adverse effects of “semester marriages” culminated in crimes of passion. The paper desists from pathologizing the “semester marriages” phenomenon and advocates for the strengthening of psycho-social support modalities within university settings to increase the accessibility and visibility of therapeutic services through a school social work model. Furthermore, universities, in partnership with other relevant stakeholders, are urged to prioritize sexual and reproductive education and services among the youth as provided for in the Constitution of Zimbabwe of 2013 to impart life skills that can equip students to make informed sexual and reproductive decisions.

The presented study was carried out in 3 infant schools in Silesia in 2012 with an objective to find out whether parents’ emotional intelligence modifies their children’s adaptation to infant school. Social adjustment was verified in four aspects: emotional functioning, social relations with peers, relation and responsiveness to a teacher, self-reliance and meeting demands. Parents’ emotional intelligence was estimated with the use of an emotional intelligence questionnaire (KBiE). According to the statistic verification, parents’ socio-emotional competences and children’s adaptation are correlated: children whose parents declared emotionally intelligent behavior adapted to infant school better than those brought up by less emotionally intelligent parents.

The aim of the text is to make available the research material obtained from the record of the dialogue contained in the protocol of the Second International Conference of Social Service, which took place in 1932 in Frankfurt am Main. During the conversation, the participants of this meeting refer to the issues discussed during the conference, but recall the main theses raised during the 1st International Conference of Social Service in Paris in 1928. The dialogue conducted in several languages has not yet been translated into Polish, but according to the authors of the text, it is - due to the topicality of the topics discussed by the experts of the European social services school movement at that time - worth introducing to contemporary researchers of social and pedagogical issues.

Opis:
RESEARCH OBJECTIVE: The aim of the research is to explore how spontaneous family life education and preparation for adult life takes place in students’ immediate environment in Hungary. THE RESEARCH PROBLEM AND METHODS: Our main research question is “what are teachers’ and support professionals’ perceptions of patterns of family life education in different family milieus?” The target group for the individual and focus group interviews was teachers working with grades 5–13 and school support staff (N = 53). THE PROCESS OF ARGUMENTATION: The theoretical basis of enhancing family life has undergone considerable change in recent decades. Several international studies have addressed the extreme context sensitivity of family and adult life education in societies with significant regional and social inequalities, such as Hungary, and have called for the compilation of a problem map on which adult life education is based. RESEARCH RESULTS: One important finding of the study is that spontaneous family life education in Hungarian families varies widely according to social and regional aspects. Four family models emerged from the analysis (rural low status, rural or small‑town strivers, urban middle class, and urban educated high status). CONCLUSIONS, RECOMMENDATIONS AND APPLICABLE VALUE OF RESEARCH: Preparation for various aspects of adult life is a challenging school task that requires special preparatioand extra work by teachers and school support staff. Because of the dialogue between spontaneous family life education and family life education in schools, there is no uniform curriculum and method for family life education that can be used in all social contexts.
PROBLEM I METODY BADAWCZE: Nasze główne pytanie badawcze brzmi: Jak nauczyciele i specjaliści ds. wsparcia postrzegają wzorce edukacji rodzinnej w różnych środowiskach rodzinnych?

Polish pedagogical thought of the interwar period pointed out the importance of forming the citizens’ attitude towards the state.. Cultivation of pro-state attitudes was closely related to the propagation of work ethos. Those educational actions were also undertaken in schools, among others, in the course of religious education. The concept of work was presented in such a way as to show the pupils the value of work, evoke positive attitudes towards their chosen professions, encourage them to work honestly and responsibly, to form a mature personality expressed by the quality of their performed work. All those actions were aimed at strengthening the power and welfare of the state. For that reason, work was perceived in the categories of a patriotic duty. In a way, it was similar to what we call work patriotism in our society these days

Sense of school belonging is related to school/classroom social membership. Students’ sense of school belonging depends on teachers, classmates and parents, and arises from a positive interpersonal relationship based on care and support, which contributes to students’ sense of community. The scientific problem analysed in the article is defined by the following question: which fac- tors of school educational environment are significant for the sense of school belonging and social membership to arise? The databases of tests, student and school questionnaires of the OECD PISA worldwide study were used for the survey. 4618 students aged 15 from 216 general and vocational schools of Lithuania participated in the survey. Analysis of data showed that some factors of school educational environment have a positive, while other ones-negative relation to the sense of school belonging.

The article describes the school as an institution, a social system and a learning organization. Regardless of whether we analyze school as an institution, a system, an organization, an arrangement, most important are the functions it performs. Taking into account the tasks it has to perform it is possible to distinguish its basic, regulatory and auxiliary functions. In the scientific literature and in practice, the primary school functions include education, upbringing and care. School is considered a very important element of the social system. It influences all young people and performs specific functions. It is understood as one of the basic elements of society, being an important component of the community, and the life activity of children and youth. School is an institution that enters into everyone's life. It is a social institution shaping values, attitudes and life orientations. The school as a learning organization is one of the visions of schools of the future.
