Opis:
Most studies on solenoid valves (SVs) assumed that the armature is concentrically positioned in the sleeve. Under this assumption the transversal component of the magnetic force is equal zero. The article presents an analytical calculation model for the estimation of the armature eccentricity. Using this model the eccentricity was calculated as a function of the sleeve thickness and the hydraulic clearance between the armature and the sleeve. After finding the eccentricity also the permeance of the radial air gap was calculated. This permeance has a direct influence on the drop of the magnetomotive force in the magnetic circuit and finally influences also the axial component of the magnetic force. In the article a calculation of both transversal and axial components of the magnetic force was carried out and presented in the appendix to the article.

Opis:
In this work the influence of the engine load on the value and temperature distribution in dry cylinder sleeve in turbocharged Diesel engine was definition. The computations were performed by means of the original two-zone combustion model, the boundary conditions of III kind and thefinite elements method (FEM) by using of COSMOS/M program. The characteristic surfaces of the cylinder sleeve were analyzed. The registered results of the computations get appointed on experimental measured parameters of the state of the engine work for the excess air number gamma = 1.66 and gamma = 3.08 and for the same engine speed n=2000 rpm. The computations were conductedfor initial 60 seconds of the engine work. On basis of received calculations it was determined that the increase of the engine load at the same engine speed causes the growth of the temperature of cylinder sleeve. Maximum temperature of the dry cylinder sleeve during 60 second of engine work carry out about 420 K for gamma, = 1.66 and 380 K for gamma = 3.08. Moreover the calculations show that top parts of the cylinder sleeve near of the mount flange heat up the most quickly and the temperature below the 3rd ring in outer dead centre of the piston is the lowest. The speed of increase temperature of dry cylinder sleeve is the largest in initial phase of warming up engine. After 10 seconds the average speed of increase temperature carries out about 8 K per second for larger load and about 5 K per second for lower load of the engine. Between 10 and 20 second the speed of increase temperature falls down and it starts stabilizing slowly.

Opis:
Finite Element Method is one of the most frequently used computational schemes in numerical analyses. A contact phenomenon is an essential issue when modelling the physical interaction between two or more bodies. Depending on the used software, the various contact algorithms are applied. In the paper, the authors present the results of evaluation of different contact methods implemented in LS-Dyna CAE software. The most common problem arising during contact modelling is the occurrence of penetration between the coupling elements, which leads to an increase of contact forces and, consequently, a local deformation of finite elements. In the introduction, a theoretical background related to mathematical aspects of contact modelling is presented, in particular search methods for contact surfaces and the penalty forces calculating method. Subsequently, a contact analysis for different variants of interaction of the elements is presented. In the first analysed case, shaft- sleeve interaction, in both rotation and translation, is presented. The variable factors in this case were a number of interacting finite elements and the type of a contact algorithm. The second case focused on the interaction forces resulting from the interaction between two sliding bodies in the harmonic motion. A sliding body was pressed against the plane using an increasing force. A variable factor in this case was the type of the implemented contact algorithm.

This paper presents an original novel solution of the problem of assembling a large bearing sleeve (of about 1000 mm in diameter) on ship propulsion shaft by using EPY resin compound. The problem is discussed on the concrete example dealing with a ship under repair. Design project of assembling the sleeve on the shaft by using the resin compound, model research on its casting process as well as assembling technology of the sleeve on the shaft, are presented and a practical way of realization of the project in conditions of a Chinese ship repair yard, is also highlighted. During more than three-year-long operation the solution has standed the test of time without any complaint.

Opis:
The paper presents a theoretical study of the damping process of non-linear vibrations in a one-mass model of a mechanical system over a friction joint. The problem is considered assuming a uniform unit pressure distribution between the contacting surfaces of the conical sleeve-shaft neck of the friction joint. The steady-state motion of the system is subject to harmonic excitation. The analysis includes the following: the influence of geometric parameters of the system, its external load amplitude, unit pressures and the friction coefficient upon the amplitude-frequency characteristics and the phase-frequency characteristics. Structural friction has been also taken into account. The equation of motion of the examined mechanical system has been solved by means of the slowly varying parameters (Van der Pol) method and a numerical simulation method.

Opis:
This paper presents the modelling of the heat loads in the dry and wet cylinder sleeve in unsteady state. Next compared the results obtained temperature distribution on the individual surfaces of the dry and wet cylinder from the moment of starting the turbocharged Diesel engine to the moment when the distribution of the temperature changed in a small range. Modelling was conducted based on the boundary conditions III kind as a function of time, which describes the convective heat transfer coefficient and the temperature of the surrounding surfaces of cylinder sleeve, appointed on the basis of the bizonal model. The thesis used thefinite elements method (FEM). The calculations show that topparts of the cylinder sleeve near of the mount flange heat up thefastest however the temperature in the bottom parts below the 3rd ring in the piston is the lowest. Higher temperature of the dry cylinder sleeve in relation to the wet is caused by the fact that different convective heat transfer coefficients on the side of the liquid coolant were assumed. The highest difference of average temperature occurs in the initial phase of heating up of the dry and wet cylinder sleeve between 5 and 15 second. In the result of carried out calculations it was stated that the cylinder sleeve fastest heats up during first 20 second of the engine work then the temperature starts to stabilize and in 40 second it changes in a small range.

Opis:
Introduction: Obesity is becoming one of the major public health problems. Bariatric procedures are considered the most effective methods of treating this condition but they are costly and entail a high risk of complications. Thus, there is a need to look for better bariatric treatment solutions. One of the newest, highly promising bariatric methods is endoscopic sleeve gastroplasty (ESG), which is comparably effective to other bariatric procedures in terms of weight loss but at the same time it is much less invasive. Materials and methods: Eight obese patients underwent ESG. Under general anaesthesia, an endoscope was inserted into the stomach, where a row of 4-5 running stitches was placed (from the pyloric part towards the GE junction). Each of the stitches was cinched tight, which resulted in gastric lumen reduction comparable to that achieved with laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy. Results: The procedures were performed without any severe peri-operative complications. The only adverse event was a minor haemorrhage in one of the patients, which did not require any surgical intervention. After the surgery, the patients reported a substantial weight loss. Mean %TBWL was 8.6%, 15.4% and 19.6% at 1, 2 and 3 months, respectively. Conclusions: Minimally invasive and highly effective in body weight reduction, endoscopic sleeve gastroplasty is a promising method of treating obesity. The procedure requires appropriate tools and equipment. The method guarantees gastric volume reduction comparable to that achieved with sleeve resection. The initial results confirm that the effectiveness of the surgery in terms of body weight loss is similar to that seen in other forms of bariatric treatment. Discussion: Compared to laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy, endoscopic sleeve gastroplasty is substantially less invasive. Also, it requires shorter procedure time and shorter hospital stay. Data from other medical centres demonstrate somewhat lower dynamics of total body weight loss but these results need to be verified in a long-term follow-up.

Opis:
An infrastructure development requires a precise indoor localization plan of cables, pipes or reinforcing elements. Due to the age of many buildings in Poland such plans often do not exist or do not contain the evidence of numerous activities carried out over years like repairs or modifications. Due to this situation demands for application of geophysical methods grow, especially with respect to the Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) method. A possibility of precise localization of hidden objects arises with the use of high frequency antennas together and with precise measuring grid. Research carried out at the request of one of the departments of AGH University of Science and Technology in building B2 showed great potential of GPR methods in this field. The study was devoted to recognition of structure of the concrete floor. The obtained results gave very precise location of numerous objects of interest and they became a good sample of high resolution investigations. The survey was performed with ProEx unit, produced by a Swedish company - Mala Geoscience, which is in the possession of the Department of Geophysics, Faculty of Geology, Geophysics and Environmental Protection.
