    Opis:
    Intraspecific differentiation in body size was investigated for Carabus arcensis, C. violaceus and Pterostichus niger populations inhabiting pine forests disturbed by the hurricane and non−disturbed ones. Post−hurri−cane stands were localized in Szast Reference Forest (Pisz Forest District, NE Poland) disturbed by the hurricane in July 2002 and left "untouched" as an experimental area. Non−affected stands were set in Maskulińskie Forest District (NE Poland). Beetles were sampled using pitfall traps. The hurricane contributed to significant reduction in both C. arcensis and C. violaceus body length. However, an opposite trend was observed for P. niger, which increased considerably in body size in disturbed stands compared to control ones. The most pronounced changes were observed in 2007. Differences in habitat preferences and food resources utilization of C. arcensis, C. violaceus and P. niger are discussed.

    Opis:
    Paper presents the analysis of spatial distribution as well as spatial diversity of DBH of living trees and trees of different biosocial class in 34 year old pine (Pinus sylvestris L.) stands of different initial densitiy. The following indices were applied: CE index (spatial distribution) and TD (spatial diversity of diameters). Living trees were distributed regularly in all analysed stands. The lower initial density, the more evenly trees were spaced. Taking into consideration the biosocial position of trees it can be stated that regularity was observed only in case of dominant trees (II Kraft's class). Trees of the other social classes were mostly randomly scattered. Groups of trees were never observed. Analysed pine stands showed small spatial diversity of diameters between nearest neighbors, both in case of living trees and trees of different social classes. The lowest diversity was observed in case of neighbors from predominand and codominant Kraft's class.

    The aim of this paper is to present the analysis of spatial diversification in the labour input in agriculture on the basis of these selected indicators: annual work unit (AWU) per 100 ha agricultural acreage; number of people per AWU; and comparison of labour input to EU-15 standards (LI-EU). Agricultural holdings have been categorised by size into three groups: 0–10 ha (small), 10–20 ha (average), and over 20 ha (large). Labour resources were subject to a comparative study of the density rates of AWUs per 100 ha agricultural acreage in Poland and the EU (EU-15). The analysis covered all of Poland with consideration of the administrative division into sixteen voivodeships (tabular analysis) and 314 poviats (townships and country districts together, including regional offi ces of the Agency for Restructuring and Modernisation of Agriculture (ARiMR); cartographic analysis). The results of the Agricultural Census of 2010 were used in the study. It demonstrated a signifi cant spatial diversifi cation in labour input in agriculture in general and in each holding size group. Predominantly, the diff erences are related to historical and political factors. The analysis corroborated agrarian overpopulation in south-east Poland.
    Celem artykułu jest analiza zróżnicowania przestrzennego nakładów pracy ludzkiej w rolnictwie na podstawie wybranych wskaźników: liczby jednostek AWU na 100 ha użytków rolnych, liczby osób przypadającej na 1 jednostkę AWU oraz wielkości nakładów pracy ludzkiej w porównaniu do standardów UE (WNP-UE). Wydzielono trzy grupy wielkościowe gospodarstw rolnych tj.: 0–10 ha (małe), 10–20 ha (średnie), ponad 20 ha (duże). Ocenę zasobów pracy przeprowadzono na podstawie analizy porównawczej wskaźników gęstości liczby jednostek AWU na 100 ha UR w Polsce i Unii Europejskiej (UE-15). Badaniem objęto Polskę w podziale na 16 województw (ujęcie tabelaryczne) i 314 jednostek powiatowych (powiaty grodzkie łącznie z powiatami ziemskimi zgodnie z podziałem na biura terenowe ARiMR, ujęcia kartografi czne). Wykorzystano wyniki Powszechnego Spisu Rolnego z 2010 r. Analiza wykazała silne zróżnicowanie przestrzenne nakładów pracy w rolnictwie – ogółem oraz w przyjętych grupach wielkościowych gospodarstw rolnych. Zmienność ta najsilniej wiąże się z oddziaływaniem uwarunkowań historyczno-politycznych. Analiza potwierdziła problem przeludnienia agrarnego w południowo-wschodniej części kraju.

    Paradoksy są wszechobecne we współczesnym zarządzaniu organizacjami, a jednym z nich jest paradoks eksploracji i eksploatacji. Chcąc realizować z powodzeniem obie te aktywności, przedsiębiorstwa potrzebują odpowiednich struktur łączących cechy z różnych modelowych rozwiązań. Potrzebują zatem struktur hybrydowych. Celem artykułu jest identyfikacja i ocena struktur organizacyjnych przedsiębiorstw funkcjonujących w Polsce z perspektywy realizacji strategii oburęcznej i przy uwzględnieniu wieku, wielkości oraz fazy rozwoju przedsiębiorstwa. Na podstawie badań przeprowadzonych na próbie 363 firm stwierdzono, że hybrydowe rozwiązania organizacyjne oparte na silnej strukturalnej dyferencjacji oraz towarzyszących jej formalnych mechanizmach koordynacji charakteryzują firmy większe i starsze, które realizują działania eksploracyjne i eksploatacyjne w sposób symultaniczny.
    Paradoxes are ubiquitous in modern management. One example is the paradox of exploration and exploitation. In order to successfully implement both of these activities, enterprises need appropriate organisational structures that combine features from various organisational solutions. Therefore, they need hybrid structures. The paper’s goal is to identify and evaluate the organisational structures of companies operating in Poland from the perspective of the ambidextrous strategy, taking into account the age, size, and organisational life cycle. Based on the research conducted on the sample of 363 companies, it was found that hybrid organisational structures including strong structural differentiation and formal coordination mechanisms characterise larger and older companies that carry out exploration and exploitation activities simultaneously.

    Opis:
    Pedunculate and sessile oaks (Quercus robur L.; Q. petraea [Matt] Liebl.) often coexist in mixed forest stands. However, species-specific investigations and forest management actions in such populations require reliable methods of identification of the species status of individuals. We investigated genetic diversity and species dif- ferentiation of adult and naturally established seedling cohorts in a mixed forest stand composed of Q. robur and Q. petraea, located in the Jamy Nature Reserve in north-central Poland. Using nineteen nuclear microsatellite loci and a model-based clustering approach as a tool for species delineation, we efficiently identified 105 and 60 adults, as well as 191 and 456 seedlings of pedunculate and sessile oaks, respectively. While the adult trees of both species were randomly distributed throughout the sample plot, the seedlings demonstrated significant spatial clustering, which was particularly evident for Q. petraea. The two oak species exhibited similar levels of genetic diversity in adult and offspring cohorts. Inbreeding was found to be low and significant only at the stage of seedlings. The estimates of effective population size were higher for Q. robur than Q. petraea, despite the overall greater reproductive success of the later one. There was a significant level of differentiation between the studied oak species, as measured by Fst coefficient (0.084 – adults; 0.099 – seedlings). The results on genetic diversity and species differentiation obtained in the studied indigenous near-natural stand of Q. robur and Q. petraea could be considered as a reference for other population genetic studies of oaks.
