W referacie przedstawiono podstawowe problemy związane z identyfikacją i symulacją algorytmów obliczeniowych stosowanych w systemach nawigacyjno-celowniczych współczesnych samolotów bojowych na przykładzie samolotu Su-22M4. Symulacja algorytmów prowadzona jest pod kątem analitycznej oceny efektywności (skuteczności) użycia lotniczych środków bojowych. Problem rozpatrzony został w sposób modelowy, na bazie jednego z najbardziej reprezentatywnych algorytmów dla samolotu Su-22M4, tj. algorytmu celowania podczas bombardowania z lotu poziomego nieruchomego celu naziemnego. W referacie przedstawione zostały także rezultaty weryfikacji skuteczności zamodelowanego do badań symulacyjnych konkretnego algorytmu bombardierskiego.
In this paper, simulation investigations of the computational bombing algorithm for deck aiming-navigation system called PrNK -54 are presented. The identification and verification were made to simulate Su-22 aircraft mission activities. Especially, basic problems of CCIP bombing are considered. The paper provides also many examples of calculated and received solutions.

This paper presents selected sight translation exercises which address particular gaps in students’ expertise. These were identified by a survey on freshmen’s knowledge of translation. The study was conducted in 2015/2016 and 2016/2017 among 1st year students of Applied Linguistics at Maria Curie-Sklodowska University in Lublin (Poland). Examples of exercises discussed in this paper are to develop particular competences and skills which guarantee an effective performance of sight translation, and which were chosen on the basis of students’ answers to the aforementioned survey. Thus the text describes some tasks which ought to develop anticipation of the source text as well as research skills of sight translation trainees.

Opis:
Age-related macular degeneration (AMD), glaucoma and cataracts are the most common eye diseases. They are predominantly caused by insufficient amounts of antioxidants in the body, which include lutein, zeaxanthin, lycopene, omega-3 fatty acids, vitamins and micronutrients. The positive properties of these biologically active substances affect the neutralization of reactive oxygen species, slow absorption of UV radiation, and improve blood supply to the structural elements of the eye. Deficiency of these substances has a negative effect on the functioning of the eye, leading to degeneration of its structures. Presently, a fully effective method of treatment has not been discovered, therefore preventative measures, especially those including a healthy diet and lifestyle, are highly important as the human body cannot synthesize these beneficial substances. This requires increasing public awareness concerning products with high nutritional value, which should be included in people's daily diet.

W artykule podjęto próbę ukazania możliwości aplikacyjnych metod wielokryterialnych we wspomaganiu procesu decyzyjnego podczas projektowania rewitalizacji przestrzeni miejskiej. Dzięki zastosowaniu analizy wielokryterialnej poprawia się poziom świadomego postrzegania złożoności i konkurencyjności celów oraz następstw rewitalizacji, poprzez jego uspołecznienie, demokratyzację i dyskursywność. Zamieszczony w pracy przykład oceny potencjalnych przemian fragmentu Poznania stanowi ilustrację sposobu wykorzystania proponowanych metod. Analiza wielokryterialna może stanowić interesującą płaszczyznę poszukiwań – wśród dostępnych wariantów działania – rozwiązania społecznie satysfakcjonującego.  
This article attempts to show the possibilities of applying multicriteria methods in assisting the decision-making process in the projects of urban space revitalization. The use of multi-criteria analysis improves the level of conscious perception of the complexity and competitiveness of goals and consequences of revitalization, through its socialization, democratization and discursiveness. The evaluation of potential changes in part of Poznan city showed in the paper is an illustration of the use of proposed methods. Multi-criteria analysis can be an interesting tool for researching the socially satisfactory solution, among the available variants of action.

The aim of the paper is to present preliminary research results on the sight-centrism of the poetry written by Zuzanna Ginczanka. The author of the article draws attention to a paradox: it is the sight that is favoured in Ginczanka’s poems, and sight is traditionally perceived as ‘masculine’, intellectual, as opposed to ‘feminine’ senses that are more focused on touch. One of the more important features of sight-centrism in Ginczanka’s works is the observation of hues which may be found in the world. The paper investigates whether colours in this poetry change after the author of Of Centaurus moves to Warsaw. The consistency of poetic imagery placing the human being in natural landscapes rather than the urban space forces the researcher to reflect on the affiliation of Ginczanka with the Skamander group.

This paper presents a detailed review on a present confused situation related to defining and measurement of the eyepiece diopter range of optical/electro-optical devices to be used for a direct observation by human observers. On the basis of this review three precise definitions of a direct view imagers eyepiece diopter are presented. One of these definitions is determined as optimal fit to describe the perception of human observers. Further on, design and measurement uncertainties of diopter meters are discussed and rules of accurate measurements are formulated. Finally, recommendations for the maximum acceptable errors of the diopter scale of eyepieces of classic types of direct view imagers are presented, as well.

The paper analyses figurative applications of phrases containing words connected with human seeing (e.g. the verbs see, look, espy, nouns like sight, look, eye and adjectives such as blynd). It shows the motivation for metaphoric expressions used by Chaucer to express his thoughts and visions in a most vivid and precise way and their further development in the language system. The analysis is based on the data obtained from Chaucer’s The Canterbury Tales (Ellesmere MS), the Oxford English Dictionary online and the Middle English Dictionary. As regards its theoretical basis it refers to Lakoff–Johnson’s theory of cognitive metaphor.

Broadband fixed wireless access, local multipoint distribution service networks are promising wireless solutions to connect fixed users to the backbone network instead of wired copper or fiber optic networks, via point-to-multipoint cellular networks. Channel capacity is of primary importance in broadband fixed wireless access networks due to increasing demand for multimedia services and possibility of providing wireless internet. Modern radio transmission systems are specifically designed for meeting two main objectives: to provide a solution for long distance networks with high transmission capacity, and to guarantee the highest link quality. Availability of a radio-relay system is very important and dependent on many factors, particularly propagation conditions in the troposphere. The article describes wave propagation that determines the performance of a radio-relay path at 6 GHz. Attenuation of received signal level measured in this frequency range depends on propagation condition on terrestrial path. Examples of measured fading duration of are presented.

The modern radio transmission systems are specifically designed for catching principally two main objectives: on one side to provide a radio solution for long distance where large configurations are required to fulfil the high capacity transmissions needs, on the other side to guarantee link quality as high as possible. The availability of a radio-relay system is dependent upon many factors and particularly upon: the reliability of equipment and propagation conditions. The article describes the wave propagation and equipment that determine the performance of a radio-relay path. National Institute of Telecommunications (NIT) carried out research on propagation phenomena on terrestrial path and exemplary results are described herewith. The availability of radio equipment based on the mean time between failures for equipment modules is presented too.

In the present research, Stopping Sight Distance (SSD) adequacy is assessed through a three-dimensional approach, which associates road visibility in terms of grade effect. SSD adequacy is controlled through the difference between the available and the required SSD. The research is focused on a right turned, two lane rural road, associated with a crest vertical curve for a given speed value. The road design is in accordance with the Greek Road Design Guidelines (OMOE-X, 2001) by utilizing the control design parameters for a design speed of 80km/h and a wide range of grade values, where the vertex point of the crest vertical curve is positioned at fixed points along the road axis. The investigation is based on a vehicle speed exceeding the design speed by 20km/h. In total 1874 cases of compound alignments were examined and the results revealed that the available sight distance is decreasing while grade increases. The vehicle speed on the tangent sections was proved unacceptable in terms of providing SSD adequacy. However, it was found that SSD adequacy is granted when the vertical vertex falls inside the circular arc of the curve’s horizontal alignment, while the optimum area is defined shortly before the horizontal vertex point.

The first part of the article consists of a review of theoretical literature concerning such issues as: a basic rationale of the emancipation paradigm in general and special education; interdependencies among the ideas of autonomy, empowerment and emancipation in selected pedagogical approaches; and a specific character of oppression resulting from gradual loss of sight. The second part of the text is a case study presenting selected emancipation threads in the life of a newly blinded person. Bezpieczeństwo na drodze, prócz wielu aspektów, wymaga również sprawnego funkcjonowania narządu wzroku u kierowcy. Dotychczas, badanie widzenia stereoskopowego i widzenia przy ograniczonym oświetleniu (badania w ciemni) było integralną częścią badania psychologicznego w zakresie psychologii transportu. Jednakże z punktu widzenia profilaktyki bezpieczeństwa ruchu drogowego prócz wyżej wymienionych istotne znaczenie ma widzenie kontrastu. Artykuł przedstawia rozważania oraz wyniki badań dotyczące znaczenia sprawności widzenia w warunkach ograniczonego oświetlenia dla prawidłowego i bezpiecznego prowadzenia pojazdu. Prezentuje również nowy obszar badań wrażliwości na kontrast, specjalistycznym urządzeniem - Zaawansowanym Testerem Widzenia (FVA – Functional Vision Analyzer).
Safety on the road, in addition to many aspects, also requires the effective functioning of the driver’s eye sight. Until now, the testing of the stereoscopic vision and vision under limited lighting (darkroom tests) was an integral part of psychological tests in the field of transport psychology. However, from the viewpoint of the road accidents prevention, in addition to the above-mentioned aspects, the vision of contrast is important too. This article presents considerations and the research results on the importance of visual performance in low light conditions for the proper and safe driving. It also presents a new area of testing contrast sensitivity using specialized device - Functional Vision Analyzer (FVA).

This paper covers unavailability of terrestrial and satellite line-of-sight radio links due to rain. To evaluate the rain effects over communication system, it is essential to know the temporal and spatial evolution of rainfall rate. Longterm 1-min average rain-rate characteristics necessary for the design of microwave radio links are determined for central Poland. 1-min rain rate distributions are presented. It also describes comparison results of predicted attenuation obtained from ITU-R formula and empirical data at frequency bands 11 GHz and 18 GHz and satellite 12 GHz. The National Institute of Telecommunications stores 11-year long rain intensity characteristics (1985-1996), based on data derived on 15.4 km long experimental path. In this paper chosen experimental data are presented.

Współczesny człowiek stoi w obliczu technologicznej rewolucji, spowodowanej intensywnym rozwojem nauk, która wymusza coraz szybciej postępujące zmiany w jego otoczeniu. W odniesieniu do osób z dysfunkcją wzroku rozwój nowych technologii umożliwia po raz pierwszy korzystanie z niezależności w zdobywaniu informacji i pełniejsze uczestnictwo w życiu społecznym. Stwarza szansę na uniknięcie niepełnosprawności lub znaczne ograniczenie jej skutków. Celem prezentacji jest przedstawienie najnowszych osiągnięć naukowych dotyczących edukacji, diagnostyki i rehabilitacji osób z dysfunkcją wzroku.
People of present times are facing a technological revolution, resulting from the intensive development of sciences, which forces rapid changes in the surroundings. In case of people with sight dysfunctions, development of new technologies creates some independence in gathering information, which was impossible before, and makes their participation in social life even more complete. It is an opportunity to avoid a disability or to reduce its consequences in a significant way. The goal of the presentation is to show the latest scientific achievements related to education, diagnosis and rehabilitation of people with sight dysfunctions.

It is generally postulated that visually-impaired students should be involved in mainstream study programs, along their sighted co-students. In the context of English Philology, this means that lecturers need to adapt their tutorials, their teaching aids, their techniques and general attitude. It is advocated here that it can be done even when lecturers are not trained in the field of SEN. The success of their students depends largely on the lecturers resourcefulness and creativity, as well as on their willingness to devote extra time to meeting the needs of such students.

The paper presents an overview of the main threats for soldiers' sight in the modern battlefield. Such a problem is crucial for the proper action of pilots, drivers, and weapon operators. Even temporary lack of sight can be very dangerous in action. Amongst different possible threats two are of a special importance: lasers and nuclear blasts, however, special kinds of conventional blasts can be also dangerous. Possible means of eye protection are discussed with the special attention paid to prospective materials. The intelligent light valves based on liquid crystals are concerned as the best solution for contemporary air and land platforms as well as individual soldiers.
W artykule przedstawiono przegląd głównych zagrożeń dla wzroku żołnierza na współczesnym polu walki. Ten problem ma zasadnicze znaczenie dla właściwego działania pilotów, kierowców-mechaników i operatorów uzbrojenia. Nawet chwilowa utrata wzroku może być niebezpieczna podczas działań bojowych. Spośród różnych możliwych zagrożeń dwa są szczególnie niebezpieczne: lasery i wybuchy jądrowe, a także wybuchy ładunków konwencjonalnych specjalnego rodzaju. Omówiono możliwe środki ochrony wzroku szczególną uwagę poświęcając perspektywicznym materiałom. Za najlepsze rozwiązanie dla współczesnych platform powietrznych i lądowych, jak również pojedynczego żołnierza uznano inteligentne zawory optyczne wykorzystujące ciekłe kryształy.

Opis:
The traditional line-of-sight ultraviolet model cannot serve better for link performance study for the reason that the scattering characteristic is often ignored in the modelling process. Therefore, a line-of-sight ultraviolet bipyramid model in combination with transceiver full beam angles and geometrical relationship of the transceiver field of view intersection is established. The theoretical rationality of the bipyramid model in comparison with a traditional line-of-sight model is demonstrated by the classically analytical model for line-of-sight scenario. Based on a bit error rate requirement of voice communication, the effects of transmitting power versus range for three line-of-sight ultraviolet communication modes are further analyzed.

W artykule przedstawiono koncepcję nagrzewanej aktywnej tarczy termicznej przeznaczonej do szkolenia i prowadzenia strzelań w warunkach nocnych z użyciem celowników termowizyjnych. Innowacyjne rozwiązanie polega na zestawie układu sterującego oraz tarczy, o tak dobranych parametrach, aby moc grzewcza na początku nagrzewania była kilkakrotnie większa niż moc niezbędna do utrzymania zadanej różnicy temperatury w stanie ustalonym. Po osiągnięciu wymaganej temperatury układ sterowania nie podaje pełnego napięcia na figurę. Czasy podawania napięcia i jego wyłączania są tak dobrane, aby temperatura figury odpowiadała wymaganej wartości. Czas uzyskania wymaganej temperatury w proponowanym rozwiązaniu jest kilka razy krótszy niż w obecnie stosowanych konfiguracjach. Pozwala to na włączenie nagrzewania równocześnie z uruchamianiem podnośnika tarczy. Takie rozwiązanie eliminuje wady tarcz podgrzewanych dotychczas stosowanych do strzelań.
The paper presents a concept of a heated active thermal target designed for training and shooting with thermal sights at night conditions. The innovative solution contains a control system and a target with specially matched parameters providing several times greater power at the beginning of heating than the power needed to maintain a demanded difference of temperatures in the steady state. After reaching the required temperature, the control system does not give full voltage to the target. The times of voltage supply and its switching off are so selected that the temperature of the target corresponds to the required value. The time needed to obtain the required temperature in the proposed solution is several times shorter than in the currently used configurations. This allows the heater to be activated at the same time as the blade lift is activated. The solution eliminates disadvantages of heated targets used for shooting up to now.
