Opis:: Research background: Improving business conditions and SME development are signs of a country's macroeconomic stability. The issue of identifying and removing barriers to the development of firms in the SME segment is a priority in all countries with developed economies and its importance is currently increasing. Purpose of the article: The main aim of this paper is to explore possible differences in entrepreneurs' perception of the business environment based on the industry in which the company operates. The analysis contains also a national view, where a comparison between the Czech Republic and the Slovak Republic is performed. Methods: Correspondence analysis was used to achieve the research objectives in order to examine the relations between the categorical variables. Its application is beneficial in cases where the graphic output is clearer than the numerical one. Findings & Value added: The presented research makes it possible to identify problematic aspects of doing business in each sector and to create support mechanisms for the creation of effective structural policies. Entrepreneurs from the Czech Republic's Production and Transport sectors agree with the statement that the business environment in the country is suitable for starting a business. As for business environment's suitability for doing business, neither Slovak nor Czech entrepreneurs sector-wide agreed with the given statement. Czech entrepreneurs from the Services, Trade and Construction sectors, respectively, agree, fully agree with the statement that the business environment in the country is reasonably risky and allows for doing business. In the case of entrepreneurs from Slovakia, no significant correspondence is observed. Findings regarding the statement that the business conditions in the country have improved over the past five years are the following: In the Czech Republic, there is a perfect correspondence of the Transport sector and the agreement with the given statement. In the Slovak Republic, agreement was found with the given statement in the Transport sector and neutral position in the Production sector.

Opis:: The article deals with an analysis of the phenomenon and consequences of deferred payments in transactions between companies. It paid attention to the fact that the vast majority of entities are constantly exposed to the negative consequences of this phenomenon. In the content, an analysis of the current situation of enterprises and the impact of overdue receivables in key sectors of the Polish economy have been discussed. The position of entrepreneurs concerning payment delays and their causes has been presented. The issue of overdue receivables is discussed in the branch cross-section, taking into account the characteristics of particular sectors. The attention has been drawn to the fact that delinquent payments are one of the main causes of the financial troubles of businesses that may ultimately result in their bankruptcy. At the same time, it was signaled that the same phenomenon produces different consequences in different entities depending on their size.
Artykuł dotyczy analizy zjawiska i konsekwencji odroczonego terminu płatności w transakcjach między przedsiębiorstwami. Zwrócono uwagę na fakt, że zdecydowana większość podmiotów jest stale narażona na negatywne konsekwencje tego zjawiska. Ponadto dokonano analizy bieżącej sytuacji przedsiębiorstw i wpływu na nią przeterminowanych należności w kluczowych gałęziach polskiej gospodarki. Zaprezentowano stanowisko przedsiębiorców dotyczące opóźnień płatniczych oraz ich przyczyn. Omówiono problem przeterminowanych należności w przekroju branżowym, uwzględniając cechy charakterystyczne dla poszczególnych branż. Zwrócono uwagę na fakt, iż nieterminowe płatności stanowią jedną z podstawowych przyczyn kłopotów finansowych przedsiębiorstw, które w ostateczności mogą skutkować ich upadłością. Jednocześnie zasygnalizowano, że to samo zjawisko wywołuje różne konsekwencje w różnych podmiotach w zależności od ich wielkości.

Village Renewal Program
Opis:: Landscape perception and its valorization is not easy. Most of all we have to remember that the landscape is not only what we see but it also consists of a very important part which is overlooked. And it is connected with history, tradition, customs and also the needs of people who contributed to its present shape. These are also expectations which are a symptom of interest in the landscape, not only of the inhabitants of such a place, who play a part, but also expectations of local authorities who have enormous influence on it's shaping by making decisions which can irreversibly change the look of the space which surrounds us. The presented analyses of landscape interiors are a part of the elaboration performed within the limits of the program Village Renewal, and which aim at defining individual character of the place, searching for elements which identify the village and which can be its visiting card in future. In the presented elaboration an attempt has been made to estimate those elements, putting the main stress on the visual side of an analyze. For an open landscape, in which silhouette of the village is visible, analyzes varied a little to those created for interiors. The presented methods of analyzing landscape interiors and rural panoramas allow an exact estimation of chosen parts of the village from various angles. Stock-taking and analyzes run only in plans are not enough because of the lack of the fourth dimension, very important for formulating any conclusions and taking design decisions. It is important while dealing with defining new areas for inhabiting or service functions, but also while introducing singular elements. It considers not only building objects together with detail, colour or wall surface quality, but also greenery which can constitute a wonderful supplement to existing interiors. It is particularly important in the case of well preserved, former village sets, together with their unshaken panoramas and interior climate. The localization of new functions on the outskirts of these types of places should be precluded by serious analyze of results of such actions in panoramas and entrances to them, not only by economical prognosis.

Opis:: Abstract: Aim: This paper investigates how a framework for analysing business sectors in emerging markets looks like when taking into account the local context-dependent and general factors of The Bottom-of-the-Pyramid (BoP). The BoP segment in emerging markets represents a major growth potential for firms, including multinational enterprises (MNEs) from developed countries. However, the continued lack of success of MNEs in these markets has shown that generic one-size-fits-all strategies for the BoP are not appropriate as BoP contexts differ between countries. Design / Research methods: The sample that was selected for the research includes two non-governmental organizations (NGOs) related to the BoP and eight managers at MNEs with activities in the BoP have been interviewed in a semi-structured manner to collect rich data. Conclusion / findings: By interviewing eight managers at MNEs with activities in the BoP and two NGOs related to the BoP, an additional analysis, BoP-orientation, and further extensions to the original analyses are being presented. This results in an advanced framework for analysing business sectors in emerging markets. Originality / value of the article: Current frameworks for analysing business sectors in emerging markets do take into account inter-country differences but fail to recognize intra-country differences, which causes them to fall short on their applicability to the BoP. This paper fills the gap how frameworks for analysing business sectors in emerging markets can be made applicable for the BoP by taking into account both the local context-dependent and general factors of a BoP-market to analyse it for opportunities, threats, and eventually and strategic entry mode.

Opis:: Purpose. Digitalization has contributed to the dynamic development of both the private and professional lives of many people. The form of physical and virtual tools has brought huge benefits but also there have been some negative effects of transferring everyday affairs to virtual space. The aim of the article is to try to identify the structures of digitalization in the Polish TFL sector and to present the advantages, disadvantages, development opportunities and threats arising from the use of modern electronic infrastructure in the activities of TFL enterprises. Methodology. The study was carried out using the desk research method and in-depth interview. Using the first research technique an outline of the discussion was created and the structure of the vertical division of digitalization was identified. In-depth interviews with dozens of people performing various functions in the TFL sector allowed to increase the thematic scope with empirical data which allowed to characterize the horizontal structure. The results were condensed in the form of a SWOT analysis. Findings. The research confirmed the possibility of a two-structure approach to the digitalization of the TFL sector enterprises and that digitalization can have both positive and negative impact on the activities of those enterprises.

Opis:: Managers of enterprises must constantly face the continual changes on the market and fight for survival in a world of high competition. Therefore, it is important to systematically monitor the company’s financial condition. This will help to identify problems and give specific time to take corrective action. Bankruptcy prediction models are usually constructed for local goals. The purpose of the article is to build not only regional but also general discriminant and logit models for the SMEs operating in the construction industry in Visegrád Group countries. A total of 32 unique models were built and verified along with the Altman model for emerging markets. The paper also contributes to the literature by assessing the stability of the constructed models over time, which the models’ authors do not usually measure. The results showed that regional models are characterized by higher accuracy than general ones. However, general models can be adapted to the analyzed Visegrád Group with an accuracy of approximately 90%. The G1 LR model can be considered the best model, as it has relatively high accuracy and over-time stability.

Opis:: This chapter contains analysis of questionnaires data base which was built by selecting one of several qualitative characteristics formulated with relation to each of the issues included in the questionnaire. The subject of examination is a set of multi- profile elements. In the initial part of the chapter, a method of division of such a set of objects into subsets including similar objects has been presented. Similarity of the objects is the basis for describing a function of distance between them. Then, by analyzing values of distance function, the entire set is divided into clusters. Research premise is executed in two sections. By calculating the distance between characteristics of analyzed phenomenon, which are represented by items in the questionnaire, a group of similar features - or lack of relationship between features - are determined. Second facet of the analysis consists in determining the distances of multi-profile objects from fixed standards, and division of the set of objects into homogenous layers. In paragraphs that follow, results of research conducted using the above method, and concerning changes in economic situation of Polish construction industry in 1993 - 1997 are shown. On the basis of the questionnaire data from the Institute of Economic Development and obtained from construction enterprises, mutual relationships between measures of economic situation have been examined. Moreover, changes in economic situation of construction enterprises in comparison to their distance from standards of economic situation have been analyzed, both in the entire population of enterprises and in two sectors of construction industry: private and public.
