    The aim of this article is to investigate the origins of the Women’s Front, a women’s movement co-founded by Norwegian Maoists in the 1970s. The analysis seeks to capture the dynamics of women’s activism in relation to the broader political landscape and, concurrently, to understand the Women’s Front in a broader temporal perspective. The sources used were newspapers and publications issued by different branches of the Norwegian Maoist movement. Women’s politics are analysed both as a grassroots phenomenon and a part of agitation which emerged under the 1972 anti-EEC campaign. This makes it possible to show how women’s politics found a place on the agenda of Norwegian Maoism and what kind of obstacles it had to face on its way to gaining autonomy. The patterns of feminist mobilisation demonstrated by this analysis can make a contribution to the broader debate on the role and place of feminism in traditional political structures.

    Artykuł dotyczy eseistycznych tekstów pisanych przez przedstawicielki drugiej fali feminizmu po ukończeniu przez nie sześćdziesiątego roku życia. Tematem tych esejów jest kobieca starość, procesy psychosomatyczne, które jej towarzyszą, strata bliskich i stosunek do śmierci, ale również pozytywne aspekty podeszłego wieku. Analizowane są różne postawy kobiet wobec ostatniej fazy życiowego cyklu. Podejście autorek do tej trudnej problematyki zostaje w artykule określone jako fenomenologiczne, gdyż opiera się na jednoczesnym przeżywaniu egzystencjalnego doświadczenia starości oraz głębokim introspekcyjnym wglądzie w to doświadczenie.
    The article focuses on essays written by female representatives of the second wave of feminism after they had turned 60. The theme covered in these essays is women entering old age, psychosomatic processes which accompany this period, the loss of loved ones and their attitude towards death, but also the more positive aspects of advanced age. The article covers the various attitudes women have towards the last period of the human life cycle. The approach these authors take with regards to this problematic topic is defined as being phenomenological, seeing as it is based on the simultaneous existential experience of growing old along with a deeply introspective insight into this experience.

    Dzięki obserwacji współczesnego ruchu feministycznego można dostrzec zaskakujące nieraz połączenia z dokonaniami poprzednich pokoleń działaczek kobiecych, ujawniające się w reinterpretowanych wciąż od nowa strategiach działania, jak sięganie do osobistego doświadczenia. Podnoszenie świadomości, ukształtowane w czasie drugiej fali zachodniego feminizmu, wpłynęło na realizacje artystyczne, w tym na feministyczny film dokumentalny lat 70. Celem artykułu jest scharakteryzowanie różnych sposobów realizowania strategii podnoszenia świadomości w Janie’s Janie Geri Ashur (we współpracy z Peterem Bartonem, Marilyn Mulford i Stephanie Palewski, 1970), The Woman’s Film San Francisco Newsreel (1971) i Rape JoAnn Elam (1975). Przybliżywszy samą kwestię podnoszenia świadomości, autorka demonstruje, jak struktura grup podejmujących tę aktywność przekłada się na analizowane prace dzięki m.in. „opowieściom pestkom”, niehierarchicznym relacjom między filmowczyniami a bohaterkami czy chwytom naruszającym strukturę rzeczywistości.
    Observation of the contemporary feminist movement brings to mind often surprising connections with the achievements of previous generations of feminist activists, revealed in the constantly reinterpreted strategies of action, such as reaching for personal experience. Shaped by the second wave of Western feminism, consciousness raising influenced artistic production, including feminist documentary filmmaking of the 1970s. The aim of the article is to characterize the various implementations of consciousness raising strategies in Janie’s Janie (dir. Geri Ashur in collaboration with Peter Barton, Marilyn Mulford, and Stephanie Palewski, 1970), The Woman’s Film (dir. San Francisco Newsreel, 1971) and Rape (dir. JoAnn Elam, 1975). After introducing the concept of consciousness raising itself, the author shows how the structure of consciousness raising groups is being translated into the analysed works by means of “kernel stories”, non-hierarchical relationships between female filmmakers and their subjects, or devices that violate the reality structure, among others.

    The article aims to reconstruct the history of women who created female Soviet samizdat Woman and Russia and magazine Maria. They are examples of  a postsoviet woman who needs to find a place for herself in the new Russian reality after  the fall  of the Eastern Block. Despite her experience in dissident activity she cannot find her place in the new women`s movement in Russia. The Russian women’s movement in 90’s had two main sources: women organizations originating from the Soviet times and the Russian feminist research institutes, which were cooperating with Western feminist organizations. Despite big popularity of women`s organization in the beginning nowadays Russia has got a problem with poor social and political activity of Russian women.  The author of the article indicates several reasons for such a situation.

    Gender studies werden hier vor allem in Bezug auf die Literaturwissenschaft dargestellt und im politischen Kontext der zweiten Frauenbewegung und Frauenforschung verortet. Mit Beispielen aus Deutschland und Polen werden ihre Methoden, Forschungsbereiche, Forschungsergebnisse und Entwicklungstendenzen besprochen. Diese Reflexionen bauen auf der These auf, dass ‚gender‘ eine wissenschaftliche Tatsache im Sinne Ludwik Flecks ist und gleichzeitig eine wissenschaftliche Analysekategorie, die die meisten Wissenschaftsdisziplinen auf die Bedeutung der Differenz hin öffnet.
    Gender studies przedstawiam tu nie tylko w związku z literaturoznawstwem, ale także podejmuję próbę umiejscowienia ich w kontekście politycznym drugiej fali ruchu kobiecego oraz w kontekście badań kobiecych i w nauce w ogóle. Na przykładach z Niemiec i z Polski omawiam metody gender studies, ich zakresy badawcze, wyniki badań literaturoznawczych oraz perspektywy rozwoju. Refleksje te rozwijam zgodnie z tezą, według której ‚gender‘ jest faktem naukowym w znaczeniu Ludwika Flecka i jednocześnie kategorią analityczną, która otwiera większość dyscyplin naukowych na znaczenie różnicy.
    Posited in the context of Second-Wave-Feminism and Women Studies, in this text, Gender Studies are introduced with reference to literary sciences. Methods, fields of research, results and new tendencies are discussed by means of examples from Germany and Poland. All these reflections are based on the assumption – inspired by Ludwik Fleck – that ‚gender‘ is both a scientific fact and an analytical category which could customise most of scientific disciplines to the relevance of difference.

    Opis:
    New anthropological vision, which appears in The Cleft by Doris Lessing, touches on the most important, eternal problems of humanity – struggle of sexes, dominance in the world, interpersonal relationships, structure and semantics of roles in communities. Wise, self-sufficient Clefts and infirm or expectant, but shrewd Sprinklers are allegories of present women and men. Establishment of the family and the formation of sexual identity thousands of years ago tends to reflect on the present, masculine order in which the division of roles is simply unfair. The Cleft of Doris Lessing tries to answer the ques-tion about the provenance of order in which we live and which Simone de Beauvior re-monstrated by writing in The Second sex: „Women are not born – we become them”. An interesting fact is constituted by the novel’s reception. On one hand, the famous American literary scholar Harold Bloom described The Cleft as a „crusade against the men”, on the other hand the book provoked polemics around feminists. Allegations were directed, as if the novel was built on the „essentialist stereotypes”, as well as focused on the „prejudices and patriarchal flaws”. To what extent are these voices reasonable – the answer is provided by the gender theory solutions.

    Through an interpretive lens that borrows from feminist postmodernist perspectives on identity and cognitive sociology, the manuscript utilizes in-depth interview data from 33 women active in the American second-wave feminist movement to explore how aging feminist activists construct their current political identities in relation to the meanings they give to the perceived progressive political identities and actions of their elders. In particular, this study examines the discursive strategies that respondents engage as they link their own feminist consciousness directly or indirectly to feminist, or otherwise progressive, parents and grandparents. Findings reveal three distinct political legacy narratives, namely 1) explicit transmission origin stories; 2) bridge narratives; and 3) paradox plots that add to both the social movement literature on the symbolic dimensions of recruitment, sustainability, and spillover, as well as cognitive sociological literature on the cultural transmission of political capital, in general, and to our understanding of American second-wave activists, more specifically.
