Opis:
The authoress discusses semantic processes in the modern Russian language as a feature of the democratization of the language. Those processes - the subject of the authoress’ researches - are caused mainly by changes in the social and political system and also by changes in the ideological orientation of the country. The authoress ascertains the disappearance of the difference between the literary norm and the various spheres of linguistic communication, especially of current speech.

The present paper is devoted to the problem of repetition as a means of expressing emotions on the syntax level in Russian and in Polish. Not only individual lexemes can be repeated, but also phrases with the predicative function or even whole sentences. The number of repetitions may also vary – double ones are most common in both languages under investigation, multiple ones are rare in the data. Triple repetitions are relatively popular only in the Russian material. Repetitions are usually accompanied by other means of expressing emotions: exclamatory intonation, particles, emotional exclamations, comparative and superlative forms of adjectives and adverbs, comparisons, etc.

The author draws attention in the text to the fixed phrases functioning in the Polish and Russian languages, whose lexical components, on joining to form the phrase, are in contradiction to the norms of the so called semantic valence. The phrases are an echo of the rules of the carnival concept of the ≪world upside-down≫, in which all existnig norms and rules are transgressed. The analysed phrase corpus permits a conclusion that it is in its entirety anthropocentric of character and refers to various aspects of evaluating of man. The examined phrases are not only exaples of peculiar innovations in phrase units, but also result of deliberate act of creation, based on rules of carnivalisation of language.

Opis:
The material to this article is based on the newest comparative dictionaries of Russian and Polish languages and also on other dictionaries, mostly explanatory dictionaries. Coloristic compa- rative constructions present a very interesting subject of linguistic research, from the one hand as a convenient instrument to research on human perceptions categorization. On the other hand- as a wide cultural and evaluative-estimating material. Some of the coloristic comparative expres- sions are characteristic for certain style of language only. A particular place in the article is taken up by the analysis of the semantic distribution of the analysed constructions in Russian and Polish language. With regard for it, the research material is divided onto three groups. The first group is constituted by constructions having an unlimited distribution, which can define with regard for the color any subject of an extralinguistic reality. The second group is assembling the constructions with a limited cohesion, in which group comes to reducing the potential objects to some class of expressions only. To the last group, can be included coloristic colorful expressions, defining with regard for the color, a semantically very limited group of words only. A frequency of using these or other comparative expressions is not directly dependant on a semantic distribution of the discussed constructions.

Through the content of the social and literary activity of Ismail Bey Gasprinskii, I intend to deepen the point of view of the Crimean Tatar enlightener on the importance of the language of instruction in the inorodcy’s (aliens) school, a tool necessary to counteract cultural and political isolation of Russian Muslims, to encourage the sblizhenie (rapprochement) between the Russians and Tatars. The socio-political implications of the linguistic question allow us to go beyond its borders, to reflect on the vopros ob inorodcach (question about aliens) and the current samobytnos (self-being) in connection with the issue of identities in multicultural Russia.

Mitronova, G. Sinicyna and G. Lipkes. The corpus is, according to lexicographers and linguists, an effect of mutual influences of Polish and Russian languages. The opinions on origins of words differ among researchers, and the article attempts to verify the previously accepted judgements by M. Vasmer, W. Witkowski and Z. Rysiewicz, based on informations included in monographs by D. Moszyńska, H. Leeming, S. Kochman, and in historical dictionaries of both languages. With reference to almost 75% of the analysed material, the direction of loanword acquisition proposed by Vasmer, Witkowski and Rysiewicz has been confirmed. However, for about a quarter of the random sample of words, the accepted opinion is not confirmed by more recent historical dictionaries, nor by the lexical material provided in the monographs. The article proposes new results for the direction of loanword migration in this group of vocabulary.

Descriptive singulatives are formed from physical nouns denoting liquid, amorphous, powder substance or soft and hard materials that have no particular shape and consist of particles that are invisible to the naked eye and cannot be separated from the mass substance.

While analyzing the texts of exiles’ memories the author comes to the conclusion that the Russian language for those Poles who survived through exposure to the Urals, is in the first place the language of enemy and captivity and serves as an instrument of propaganda and forced Russification. At the same time in some of the exiles’ memories studying of the Russian language is the only way to interact with the culture and literature which makes it easier to endure their spiritual isolation.

These two languages have coexisted and developed in close contact with Church Slavonic language for eges. This resulted in the creation of the whole biblical heritage. However, in the historic process of transforming biblical lexical items into the everyday language of both nations, their relationship with the source has considerably faded away. Church Slavonic language has provided contemporary biblical lexical items with archaic phonetic, morphological and lexical features and due to this they maintained solemn, ceremonious character which is typical of biblical style.

inherited language
Opis:
This paper discusses the situation of trilingualism of students at Lviv schools with Polish as the language of instruction. Earlier linguistic studies paid no attention to the individuals of non-Polish descent who attended such schools. Part one of this paper presents the profile of the examined group, which comprised, apart from persons of Polish descent, individuals of non-Polish descent, for whom Polish is a foreign language. The next part discusses the results of sociolinguistic surveys concerning the motivation for learning Polish and the level of command of the languages used by the respondents. It also presents preferences as regards the use of media and non-verbal communication. The final part describes the interviewees’ attitude to the languages as well as to Poland and Ukraine. The studies were conducted using earlier research concepts regarding Polish–foreign language bilingualism by Ewa Lipińska, Władysław Miodunka, Marzena Błasiak, and Pavel Levchuk. In the description of the private-sphere language choice, William Mackey’s method was applied.

National corpus of the Russian language
Opis:
The structure, content and communicative significance of the oligarch concept are explicated using corpus analysis. The structure of the oligarch concept is asymmetric: the logical and figurative components are presented much more narrowly than the axiological one. The axiological component dominates the structure of the concept. Various assessments from the negative zone of the axiological scale are included in the axiological component of the concept. The logical components of the concept are ‘the presence of very significant financial resources’, ‘the source of finance – most often oil or other extractive industry’,‘power’, ‘participation in the actual government of the country’, ‘belonging to a certain country (more often Russia or Ukraine)’, and ‘opposition to official authorities and government’. The status of “oligarch” is associated with a small number of the same persons. All logical components are assessed negatively, disparagingly or ironically. The concept of an oligarch receives significant signs from the concept of wealth – the main part of the logical component and axiology. The article compares the axiological components of the concepts oligarch and wealth. As a result, the attitude of the “ordinary Russian people” to wealth and the oligarchs isrevealed: this is envy and distrust, a rich person has extremely negative qualities and has accumulated wealth in an illegal or immoral way.

Opis:
The purpose of this article is to compare the Russian noun ярость (rage) and its Polish semantic equivalents (gniew, wściekłość, pasja, furia) reported by Russian-Polish and Polish-Russian Dictionaries. Monographs, articles and dictionary entries have been used to analyse the terms and to create new definitions of feelings based on the Natural semantic metalanguage (NSM). The new definitions were written using sixty semantic primes, are universal for all languages, which helped to show similarities or differences between such difficult terms as feelings. Using this method, symmetry and asymmetry of equivalence have been found between Russian and Polish words.
