    Since the half of the 1990's, the development of rural areas was directed into a multifunctional form. Apart from main agricultural functions, dominating in the central steering period, different forms of non-agriculture activity started to develop in rural areas. In new conceptions of rural areas development, of important meaning was tourism, including agrotourism. The main aim of this paper is an attempt to discuss the role of tourism in multi-functional development of rural areas, especially in the Świętokrzyskie voi-vodship. In the Świętokrzyskie voivodship, a considerable development of agrotourist farms, with that of cooperating institutions, like agrotourist associations, con-sultative teams and agrotourist chambers is recently observed. The agrotourism is very important function of this area. First agrotourist farms were organized in 1993. Most of them are small and are not profitable, thus most of their owners became part-time farmers. The income outside the agriculture can be for them just the agrotourism. At present the Świętokrzyskie voivodship is visited by many tourists from various part of Poland. Agrotourism is a real chance for the Świętokrzyskie voivodship farmers, to ameliorate their difficult economic situation.

    A comparative analysis, using the classification tree method, of typically agritourism and agriculturally inactive farms has been conducted in this paper. An interview questionnaire, carried out on 78 farms, has been applied as a research tool.According to the research, typically agritourism farms evaluated the quality of their own services more positively. However, these factors did not influence the improvement of offer standards. Perhaps they had to invest more often in the development of farms rather than focus on improving the sanitary and hygiene infrastructure. The residential buildings may have not been adapted to undergo redevelopment in that respect. Agriculturally inactive households rarely broadened their knowledge in order to improve accommodation conditions. They had higher standards regardless of the level of hosts' qualifications. Presumably, hosts who focus mainly on agritourism are more likely to improve accommodation conditions. They basically do not have to pay expenses that would be incurred by agricultural activity. The application of the classification tree method has allowed to observe that high self-evaluation of services provided does not always have to result in better sanitary equipment of rooms or possession of living rooms. The method has made it possible to present the examined factors in a simple graphical manner, thus allowing to notice differences between typically agritourism farms and agriculturally inactive farms.

    Agrotourism plays a huge role in the activation of rural areas. Its position and market power affects a number of external components and mechanisms. And although its positive impact on the economic and social development rural areas is noticeable, it also reveals a number of barriers related. An important aspect is to strengthen awareness of local communities concerning benefits resulting from the development of this non-agricultural source of income. Only then it will trigger a multiplier effect that will eventually lead to reduction of unemployment, job creation in sectors serving tourists, revenue growth and will improve both living standard and working conditions of the population actively involved. Improving the visibility of rural values, processing, traditional crafts, rural buildings can become a powerful magnet for tourists, tourists looking for new unconventional forms of recreation. Benefits of the development of rural tourism can become real if there is visible involvement and close cooperation between both - service providers and local authorities (government).

    Opis:
    One of the latest initiatives in rural areas is an educational farm whose main mission is to educate by promoting greater awareness of the village’s cultural and natural values. The offer of educational farms can be attractive to tourists staying in agritourism farms, and educational activities enrich the tourism offer of the region and improve the appeal of a given facility or area of staying. Rural areas of Podkarpackie province have great tourism potential, and similar to many other tourism products, educational farms can attract tourists and make their stay attractive. The study area includes 13 of the type of farms that offer a variety of educational programs related to agriculture, ecology, processing agricultural products, handicraft or dying out professions workshops. The article describes the offer of all educational farms in the Podkarpackie province basing mainly on the results of surveys conducted among the owners and on generally available publicity information. Based on the survey results, it was found that the activity of educational farms is popular mainly among organized groups of students and this concept is still relatively unknown to a wide range of tourists. No significant impact of educational farms on the increase of tourist interest in a given agritourism facility has been revealed.
    Turystyka wiejska jest jedną z popularnych form turystyki. Tradycyjne rolnictwo, harmonijny krajobraz obszarów wiejskich oraz styl życia mieszkańców wsi są współcześnie coraz bardziej docenianym walorem turystycznym, wpływającym na to, iż wielu turystów na miejsca swojego wypoczynku wybiera tereny spokojne, ciche, o czystym środowisku przyrodniczym. Gospodarstwa agroturystyczne działające na terenie województwa podkarpackiego nieustannie szukają nowych możliwości rozwoju. Jedną z nich jest prowadzenie działalności edukacyjnej w tzw. zagrodach edukacyjnych. Celem opracowania jest charakterystyka oraz przedstawienie oferty zagród edukacyjnych na terenie województwa podkarpackiego jako innowacyjnego produktu turystycznego. Szczegółowo scharakteryzowano jedną z zagród na badanym terenie.

    Rural tourism includes many types of recreational activities including nature, medical, cultural or ethnic tourism. Implemented in the rural space it is conceived as a sphere of activity that stimulates various socio-economic phenomena. Tourism development process relies on many geographical and historical factors. Agritourism farms play a significant role within rural space. The development of agritourism is related to farms and its surroundings. This article is based on qualitative and quantitative approaches in order to present rural tourism and agritourism product in the Świętokrzyskie Region. Research on rural tourism in the Świętokrzyskie has been carried out since 1993 [Nowak 1996]. The aim of the study is to determine the directions of tourism and rural tourism development in the Świętokrzyskie Region. The article presents variations, divided by the municipalities, in the support of non-agricultural activities in terms of the development of tourism and agritourism based on Rural Development Programme for the years 2007-2013. The main recipients of tourism development aid were farmers managing the farm, farmer’s spouse or other household members. The analysis was possible based on the database of aid beneficiaries (farmers and traders) received from the Świętokrzyskie Regional Offices (The Agency for Restructuring and Modernization of Agriculture (ARMA). Based on survey’s results, this study attempted to predict the direction of development activities of agritourist farms in the Świętokrzyskie Region.

    The main aim of this study was to explore the potential of agritourism development in the Kościerski region. The study also aimed to establish the sampled farmers’ interest in and satisfaction with agritourism as a form of income diversification. A survey was carried out among all farm owners engaging in agritourism activity in the Kościerski region (44 persons). The research tool was a questionnaire which identified the level of interest and satisfaction of respondents with an agritourism business. The research shows that getting involved in agritourism gives the opportunity to diversify farm income in the Kościerski Region. The natural and agricultural conditions are conducive, and the farmers are trying to provide an adequate standard of accommodation and quality services.
    Celem opracowania jest określenie potencjału rozwoju działalności agroturystycznej w powiecie kościerskim oraz poziomu zainteresowania i zadowolenia rolników z tej formy dywersyfikacji dochodów. W badaniach udział wzięli wszyscy właściciele gospodarstw agroturystycznych z terenu powiatu kościerskiego (44 osoby). Narzędziem badawczym był kwestionariusz ankiety, który zawierał pytania pozwalające na określenie poziomu zainteresowania i zadowolenia respondentów z prowadzenia działalności agroturystycznej. Badania wykazały, że działalność agroturystyczna jest realną szansą na dywersyfikację dochodów w gospodarstwach rolnych powiatu kościerskiego. Sprzyjają temu warunki przyrodniczo-rolnicze, a badani rolnicy starają się zapewniać odpowiedni standard gospodarstw agroturystycznych oraz jakość oferowanych usług.

W interpretacji kluczowych wniosków odniesiono się również do badań sondażowych przeprowadzonych na próbie Wielkopolan. Zawarto tu zarówno spostrzeżenia kadry pedagogicznej, jako tej uczestniczącej w wyjazdach do obiektów o charakterze edukacyjnym, jak również rodziców decydujących o wyborze miejsca wypoczynku. Weryfikacji poddano nie tylko samą ofertę wielkopolskich zagród edukacyjnych, ale również sposoby informowania o niej i komunikowania się z klientem.
    The cultural heritage of the Greater Poland village, with its material and intangible heritage, creates enormous potential worth displaying and disseminating through educational farms. This article presents the results of a multifaceted analysis of the offers of Greater Poland educational farms in the field of displaying the cultural heritage of the village. In the interpretation of key conclusions, reference was also made to a survey conducted on a sample of Wielkopolska. It includes both the observations of the teaching staff as those participating in trips to educational facilities, as well as parents deciding on the choice of a place of rest. Not only the offer of Wielkopolska educational farms has been verified, but also the ways of informing about it and communicating with the client.

Krótkie wprowadzenie w kontekst formalno-prawny przedsięwzięcia jest pretekstem do przyjrzenia się funkcjonowaniu tej oferty w kontekście edukacyjnym, zwłaszcza uwzględniając ofertę Dolnego Śląska.
    The article id dedicated to the phenomenon of the pedagogical farms and its importance in the tourism and the preservation of the rural environment especially its cultural aspect. The first part is a kind of short literature review, a presentation of the role of the rural cultural heritage both material and non-material in the development of the tourism in the rural environment. Also the function of the preservation of the heritage is considered. One of the most convenient ways do achieve this goal is the idea of the pedagogical farms. This kind of didactic product exists also in Poland. Next part of the topic is dedicated to detailed description of the idea and its implementation in our country. The technical and legal environment of its creation and functioning together with its rather short history is described. The main focus is on the part related to the practical lessons and its possible impact on the development of tourist offer based on this issue. The educational part and the way of its implementation in the pedagogical farms on the example of Lower Silesia as the most equipped region in this phenomenon is presented in detail.
