Opis:
The on-ground validation of control systems designed for manipulators working in orbit is very difficult due to the necessity of simulating the microgravity environment on Earth. In this paper, we present the possibilities of utilising the KUKA KUBE test-bed with industrial robots to experimentally verify space systems using hardware-in-the-loop tests. The fixed-base KUKA industrial robot is operated in gravitational environment, while the space system model plant is solved in real time parallel to on-ground experiment. The test-bed measurements are the input of the model plant, and the output of the model is treated as an input for the industrial robot actuation. In the performed experiment, the control system based on the Dynamic Jacobian is validated. The desired point that is reached by the manipulator’s endeffector is constant in the simulated environment and moving with respect to the test-bed frame. The position of the space manipulator’s end-effector is calculated by evaluating dynamics of the satellite in real-time model. The results show that the control system applied to the KUKA robot works correctly. The measurements from the torque sensors mounted in KUKA robot’s joints are in accordance with the simulation results. This fact enhances the possibilities of gravity compensation, thus simulating microgravity environment on the test-bed.

Opis:
The article presents a comprehensive study of a visual-inertial simultaneous localization and mapping (SLAM) algorithm designed for aerial vehicles. The goal of the research is to propose an improvement to the particle filter SLAM system that allows for more accurate and robust navigation of unknown environments. The authors introduce a modification that utilizes a homography matrix decomposition calculated from the camera frame-to-frame relationships. This procedure aims to refine the particle filter proposal distribution of the estimated robot state. In addition, the authors implement a mechanism of calculating a homography matrix from robot displacement, which is utilized to eliminate outliers in the frame-to-frame feature detection procedure. The algorithm is evaluated using simulation and real-world datasets, and the results show that the proposed improvements make the algorithm more accurate and robust. Specifically, the use of homography matrix decomposition allows the algorithm to be more efficient, with a smaller number of particles, without sacrificing accuracy. Furthermore, the incorporation of robot displacement information helps improve the accuracy of the feature detection procedure, leading to more reliable and consistent results. The article concludes with a discussion of the implemented and tested SLAM solution, highlighting its strengths and limitations. Overall, the proposed algorithm is a promising approach for achieving accurate and robust autonomous navigation of unknown environments.

This article presents the synthesis of a neural motion control system of a robot caused by disturbances of constraints limiting the movement, which are the result of flexibility and disturbances of the contact surface. A synthesis of the control law is presented, in which the knowledge of the robot's dynamics and the parameters of a susceptible environment is not required. Moreover, the stability of the system is guaranteed in the case of an inaccurately known surface of the environment. This was achieved by introducing an additional module to the control law in directions normal to the surface of the environment. This additional term can be interpreted as the virtual viscotic resistance and spring force acting on the robot. This approach ensured the self-regulation of the robot’s interaction force with the compliant environment, limiting the impact of the geometrical inaccuracy of the environment.

Opis:
This work addresses the development of a distributed switching control strategy to drive the group of mobile robots in both backward and forward motion in a tightly coupled geometric pattern, as a solution for the deadlock situation that arises while navigating the unknown environment. A generalized closed-loop tracking controller considering the leader referenced model is used for the robots to remain in the formation while navigating the environment. A tracking controller using the simple geometric approach and the Instantaneous Centre of Radius (ICR), to drive the robot in the backward motion during deadlock situation is developed and presented. State-Based Modelling is used to model the behaviors/motion states of the proposed approach in MATLAB/STATEFLOW environment. Simulation studies are carried out to test the performance and error dynamics of the proposed approach combining the formation, navigation, and backward motion of the robots in all geometric patterns of formation, and the results are discussed.

The IoT systems are growing field of automation. In contrast to industrial applications, where the system is custom made for each customer or use case, the home IoT systems can be composed and used in many, sometimes dangerous and unpredictable, ways. This paper presents a system that is based on a common ontology as a unified and universal method of representing the environment including humans. Such approach allows for easy integration of heterogenous devices and declarative definition of services, tasks, and rules ensuring human safety and/or comfort.

Opis:
Iterative Learning Control (ILC) is a well-known method for control of systems performing repetitive jobs with high precision. This paper presents Constrained Output ILC (COILC) for non-linear state space constrained systems. In the existing literature there is no general solution for applying ILC to such systems. This novel method is based on the Bounded Error Algorithm (BEA) and resolves the transient growth error problem, which is a major obstacle in applying ILC to non-linear systems. Another advantage of COILC is that this method can be applied to constrained output systems. Unlike other ILC methods the COILC method employs an algorithm that stops the iteration before the occurrence of a violation in any of the state space constraints. This way COILC resolves both the hard constraints in the non-linear state space and the transient growth problem. The convergence of the proposed numerical procedure is proved in this paper. The performance of the method is evaluated through a computer simulation and the obtained results are compared to the BEA method for controlling non-linear systems. The numerical experiments demonstrate that COILC is more computationally effective and provides better overall performance. The robustness and convergence of the method make it suitable for solving constrained state space problems of non-linear systems in robotics.

Opis:
This paper tackles the Multi-Robot Task Allocation problem. It consists of two distinct sets: a set of tasks (requiring resources), and a set of robots (offering resources). Then, the tasks are allocated to robots while optimizing a certain objective function subject to some constraints; e.g., allocating the maximum number of tasks, minimizing the distances traveled by the robots, etc. Previous works mainly optimized the temporal and spatial constraints, but no work focused on energetic constraints. Our main contribution is the introduction of energetic constraints on multi-robot task allocation problems. In addition, we propose an allocation method based on parallel distributed guided genetic algorithms and compare it to two state-of-the-art algorithms. The performed simulations and obtained results show the effectiveness and scalability of our solution, even in the case of a large number of robots and tasks. We believe that our contribution is applicable in many contemporary areas of research such as smart cities and related topics.

Non-collision trajectories of an industrial robot are the key objective when planning its handling cycles. When the robot should move optimally, precisely and safely in each situation, it is necessary that every obstacle placed in its transition trajectory should be programmed and avoided. The optimal trajectory corresponds to choosing, if possible, the shortest and most appropriate way for the specific movement to be finished. The task of avoiding obstacles by the industrial robot in its working zone can be solved by various methods and algorithms. The paper shows the use of the kinematics SCARA as a way of avoiding obstacles by a robot in the working zone using the Lee algorithm. The configuration fields and networks are being modelled for the avoidance of obstacles together with their evaluation and the search for the shortest trajectory reflected in the robot programming.

Opis:
In the presented paper, a problem of nonholonomic constrained mechanical systems is treated. New methods in nonholonomic mechanics are applied to a problem of a Forklift-truck robot motion. This method of the geometrical theory of general nonholonomic constrained systems on fibered manifolds and their jet prolongations, based on so-called Chetaev-type constraint forces. The relevance of this theory for general types of nonholonomic constraints, not only linear or affine ones, was then verified on appropriate models. On the other hand, the equations of motion of a Forklift-truck robot are highly nonlinear and rolling without slipping condition can only be expressed by nonholonomic constraint equations. In this paper, the geometrical theory is applied to the above mentioned mechanical problem. The results of numerical solutions of constrained equations of motion, derived within the theory, are presented.

The article presents the structure of hardware and computer application to control and visualization of the prototype of a mobile robot moving along overhead lines of medium and high voltage. Before building, the robot was designed in the Autodesk Inventor Professional 2012 environment to eliminate potential errors in structure. The mechanical construction is divided into three parts: the base contained electrical parts, trolley drive and robot arms. All the main components are made of aluminum sheet with a thickness of 4 mm, so that the weight of the robot does not exceed 20 kg. Small size and low weight of the robot allows for handling by a single person. Robot contains over 300 parts including construction elements, screws, washers and nuts. The motor driving the robot is positioned above the wire, so dirt doesn’t pollute it. Belt transmit drive to the rollers. Robot arms are moved by helical gear. The electronic parts are placed in the base box (IP65). Microcontroller STM32F4 is a central control unit of the robot. Motors are powered by PWM signal. The robot has two sonar preventing collisions with any obstacle, and a camera that can be used for wire inspection or control of the robot work. The robot communicates with a host computer wirelessly via Ethernet. The control application allows connecting with the robot using TCP/IP protocol and: control device (starting and stopping robot, changing the speed of movement smoothly, changing direction of movement, raising and lowering arms of robot); viewing the status of the robot (battery status, travelled distance, the state of ultrasonic sensors). Operator can also view the video from the camera mounted on the robot. Robot presented in this article is a prototype that has been tested on the experimental field of Energa SA company in Straszyn near Gdansk. Unit placed on the air line moved properly. Communication and wireless control worked also fully properly. All tests were successful. In this regard it should be noted that the presented device can be a powerful tool for remote inspection of medium and high voltage power transmission lines (when will be equipped with a suitable set of sensors).

The work contains selected results of research on the application of quantum computer science to a systemic evolutionary algorithm for the purpose of improving accuracy of neural models in electrical engineering and electrical power engineering. Artificial neural networks are used in neural modeling, which networks are designed and taught models of systems using available numerical data. Parameters of neural networks, and especially, elements of weight matrices, biases as well as parameters of activation functions may be improved using evolutionary algorithms. It seems that applying solutions offered by quantum computer science to systemic evolutionary algorithm, and especially, as regards creation of quantum initial population, quantum crossover and mutation operators as well as selection, considerably improves the accuracy of modelling, which was verified in MATLAB and Simulink environment using selected examples such as RP–02 robot’s arm movement, the development of the Polish Electrical Power Exchange (polish: TGEE) system, etc.
