Opis:
Risk is an inherent feature of property development projects conducted on the real estate market. Therefore, developers have to be able to manage risk using specific methods. This also refers to the category of logistics risk. In property development business, however, risk needs to be accurately identified before it can be quantified and adequate risk responses can be considered. These issues are addressed in the scientific paper, which aims to outline the risks encountered in the real estate market, with the focus on logistics risk. In particular, it constitutes an attempt to indicate possible applications of the risk management in property development enterprises as a way of supporting logistic activities undertaken by developers in investment processes. In addition to the theoretical deliberations, the findings of the empirical research conducted among the major property developers operating on the Polish market are presented.
Immanentną cechą projektów deweloperskich realizowanych na rynku nieruchomości jest ryzyko. Deweloperzy muszą zatem umieć zarządzać ryzykiem wykorzystując w tym celu określone metody. Dotyczy to również kategorii ryzyka logistycznego. W działalności deweloperskiej zanim jednak ryzyko zostanie skwantyfikowane wymagana jest jego dokładna identyfikacja, co następnie umożliwi właściwą reakcję na ryzyko. Kwestiom tym poświęcony jest niniejszy artykuł naukowy, którego celem jest przedstawienie problematyki identyfikacji ryzyka deweloperskiego ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem kategorii ryzyka logistycznego. W szczególności jego celem jest wskazanie możliwości wykorzystania zarządzania ryzykiem w przedsiębiorstwach deweloperskich jako elementu wspomagania realizacji działań logistycznych w procesach inwestycyjnych realizowanych przez deweloperów. Rozważania teoretyczne uzupełniają wyniki badań empirycznych przeprowadzonych wśród największych deweloperów działających na rynku polskim.

Risk is a common phenomenon in daily life of natural and legal persons. It concerns all branches of the economy and relates to making decisions concerning the unknown future. There are various types of risk related to business operations and the majority of business entities take effort to protect themselves against its adverse effects. The development of the field of risk management allows for partial or total risk elimination. Road transport is exposed to various types of risk which may lead to usually considerable damage and losses. This publication is aimed at presenting selected groups of risk factors occurring in the logistics process and at determining their influence on enterprise functioning. It is also supposed to emphasize the significant role of risk analysis in the transportation business.

The paper presents selected aspects of the evaluation of the effectiveness and risks of the logistics chain that supports the enterprise. It was assumed that the logistics chain includes all activities associated with the flow of materials from the sourcing of raw materials for sale to the ultimate purchaser of the product and the disposal of used products. It was found that the elements of the supply chain are usually unstable which generates difficulties in determining the appropriate level of the risk of the chain. The paper presents a formal record of risk and performance. There is proposed determination of the effectiveness of individual links of the logistics chain. The task of the logistics chain is to provide goods from producers to the final customers, thereby making available these goods in a place and time suited to the needs and expectations of customers. The movement of goods in the logistics chains is determined by the sequence of interrelated actions. In the logistics chains, many entities are involved to different extents. This determines the spatial distribution of different configuration of individual users of the whole logistics chain. In particular, example of a logistics chain of production company, stages of the procedures for quantitative risk analysis, the problems in the logistics chains, assessment of the risk of the task in the logistics chain, the concept of risk, effectiveness and risk in logistics chains are presented in the paper.

Recent developments and events – e.g. trend to globalization, outsourcing activities, shorter life time cycles, but also natural disasters and others – have led to the increase of risks in business. Furthermore, regional and global financial and economic crises have brought additional and often unexpected risks into business. Therefore, risk management has been identified as one of the important management tasks supporting a company in reaching its objectives. In many countries, implementation and use of risk management is required by law. In Germany, the so-called KonTraG (Corporate Sector Supervision and Transparency Act) prescribes risk management for all incorporated companies. Although there is no mandated risk management for other legal forms of organizations, the KonTraG has also impact on those forms of organizations, especially on attestation by external auditors. This paper focuses on the industrial sector of logistics service providers (LSPs). The logistics service industry in Germany is a fragmented market. Although there are some ‘big players’, i.e. large LSPs, that are involved in national and international logistics activities, there also exists a large number of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). For those small and medium-sized LSPs, risk management is not compulsory. Nevertheless, they face at least the same risks as the big players – if not even more (e.g. due to smaller market shares and lower market power). There is a number of questions involved with risk management in logistics enterprises: Is risk management an approach used by LSPs – and to what extend? Who initiates risk management in logistics enterprises? What is the degree of maturity of risk management in the logistics industry? What tools and methods are used by LSPs? Are companies evaluating risk management as beneficial? Not much research has been conducted in the logistics service industry so far. Thus, to answer those questions, the authors started to conduct a first empirical study in 2008. This study was followed by a second field study in 2011, i.e. directly after the first global financial and economic crisis. In 2013, the authors carried out the third empirical study on the status of risk management in logistics enterprises in Germany. The study allows for both stating the current status of risk management and identifying developments and trends in the logistics industry related to risk management. This paper intends to highlight the most important findings from the 2013 field study and to evaluate the status quo of risk management in logistics enterprises. It also specifies room for improvement to reach a higher degree of professionalism in risk management in the logistics industry.

The importance of risk management lies in its ability to influence the creative process resulting in detecting the risks and a purposeful reduction of the probability of crises. The first part of the article shows the structure of the companies whose business activities are focused on the area of logistics. In the second part relationships between risk management and other business processes that form together an integrated system of the enterprise management are characterised.

Process of suppliers selection, as well as cooperation between suppliers and manufacturers, are a significant problem for today’s companies. Producers negotiate and arrange with their subcontractors to ensure a continuity of production. Following this, one of the major problem is supplier evaluation and supply risk assessment in order to avoid delays, which may seriously affect the producers’ ability. In the paper there are presented the main types of risk and the methods of its classification and evaluation used in logistic processes performance. The analysed problem is to be discussed on the example of Whirlpool-Polar company from Poland. For the presented company, there is investigated supplier evaluation process, suppliers classification with the relation of their purchasing and bargaining power to the degree of their obligations fulfilment. Moreover, there is defined the supply risk concept, what gives the possibility to compare the suppliers purchasing power with the defined supply risk. Later, there are presented main possibilities to reduce the supply risk by using a “milk run” method with a number of variants of the simulation and its evaluations. The presented results comply with the profitability of transport in the case of round-trip transportation performance. Transport of goods is cost effective when the usage of the truck transport capacity will be at least 85%. Following this, the presented research analysis result gives the possibility to reduce risk in terms of reducing disruptions occurrence consequences, when the probabilities of their appearance remain at the same level.

Celem niniejszego artykułu jest określenie istotnej roli zarządzania ryzykiem w systemach logistycznych branży motoryzacyjnej. Dlatego dokonano przeglądu literatury dot. definicji ryzyka oraz zarządzania ryzykiem ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem kluczowych aspektów. Nie bez znaczenia jest również analiza wybranych, współcześnie wykorzystywanych narzędzi zarządzania ryzykiem oraz przykłady z branży motoryzacyjnej (Faurecia, Volkswagen). Metodologia badania – wykorzystano przegląd dostępnej literatury. Wynik - cel pracy został dopełniony. Na podstawie dostępnych źródeł dokonano próby zdefiniowania istotnych kryteriów w pomiarze i monitorowaniu ryzyka w współczesnych systemach logistycznych branży motoryzacyjnej. Podano przykłady rozwiązań zarządzania ryzykiem w branży motoryzacyjnej. Oryginalność/wartość - w artykule wskazano koncepcje dotyczące definicji ryzyka. Zwrócono uwagę na identyfikację, pomiar ryzyka, narzędzia zarządzania ryzykiem, przykłady z przedsiębiorstw branży motoryzacyjnej.
Purpose - the aim of this article is to determine the important role of risk management in the logistics systems of the automotive industry. Therefore, the literature on risk definition and risk management was reviewed with particular emphasis on key aspects. The analysis of selected, currently used risk management tools and examples from the automotive industry (Faurecia, Volkswagen) are also significant. Study methodology - a review of the available literature was used. Result - the aim of the work has been fulfilled. Based on the available sources, an attempt was made to define important criteria in the measurement and monitoring of risk in modern logistics systems in the automotive industry. Examples of risk management solutions in the automotive industry are given. Originality/Value – the article indicates concepts regarding the definition of risk. Attention was paid to identification, risk measurement, risk management tools, examples from automotive industry enterprises.

Zaprezentowano wyniki badań własnych przedsiębiorstw uczestniczących w rynku usług logistycznych jako odbiorcy i usługodawcy. Na podstawie studium przypadku przedstawiono analizę ryzyka oraz model zarządzania ryzykiem w firmie logistycznej. Sformułowano następującą tezę badawczą: Ryzyko na rynku usług logistycznych może być analizowane oraz oceniane w odniesieniu do jego uczestników w sposób indywidualny.
This article presents a case study based on a company’s research on the logistics services market. The theoretical aspects of risk management in the logistics services market are discussed. The results of the author’s research on enterprises participating in the logistics services market as recipients and service providers are presented. Based on the case study, an analysis of risk in a logistics company is presented. The research thesis – ‘risks in the logistics services market can be individually analysed and evaluated for its participants’ – forms the basis for verifying the research on risk management in logistics processes. The risk management model for the company in the case study is presented.

The aim of this study was to identify risks in the quality and safety of food, and to indicate, basing on a risk analysis, the ways of managing potential risks in two different production profile enterprises of the food industry. It was found that potential hazards to the quality and safety for technological process as well as for the other links of the logistics chain were identified, and prevention procedures were established to minimize or completely eliminate these hazards. Moreover, the benefits of risk management were similar, and mainly felt in the constant increase of food producers’ awareness of the necessity of safe food production and increase of concern for the health and life of consumers. This in turn contributes to: • development of staff competence, • improvement of logistic processes to better protect against external factors, unauthorized persons and side effects, • investments and implementation of new organisational solutions in warehouses and production areas.

W artykule dokonano analizy możliwości oceny ryzyka eksploatacji obiektów mostowych w świetle zagrożeń infrastruktury transportu drogowego. Założono, że w sytuacjach kryzysowych, w tym w warunkach wojennych, do najbardziej newralgicznych obszarów infrastruktury drogowej będą należały obiekty mostowe. Skorelowano zatem bezpośrednio problematykę oceny ryzyka transportu z możliwością awarii infrastruktury mostowej. Pominięto problematykę infrastruktury drogowej, traktując ją jako osobny problem do rozważenia. Ponadto przedstawiono autorską metodę analizy jednego z ważniejszych czynników ryzyka eksploatacyjnego mostów – czynnika ryzyka zmęczeniowego. Analiza została dokonana na przykładzie mostów wojskowych.
The article concerns the issue of analyzing the risk factors of military bridge construction. It provides the mathematical description of risk identification. The article also presents the process of assessing risk factors. In addition, the authors put forward a proposal for the quantification of one of the most essential risk factors. The article concludes with summing up the opinions of the practical advantages of the mathematical description. Moreover, in the authors’ opinion, more scientific research is necessary, in particular for compiling a list of risk factors that can affect military bridges.

This article focuses on the presentation of the logistics projects and release methods and risk management tools. The main objective of this article is to present ways which identify risk and assessment of logistics projects with using fuzzy logic.
