    Software startup companies develop innovative, software-intensive products within limited time frames and with few resources, searching for sustainable and scalable business models. Software startups are quite distinct from traditional mature software companies, but also from micro-, small-, and medium-sized enterprises, introducing new challenges relevant for software engineering research. This paper’s research agenda focuses on software engineering in startups, identifying, in particular, 70+ research questions in the areas of supporting startup engineering activities, startup evolution models and patterns, ecosystems and innovation hubs, human aspects in software startups, applying startup concepts in non-startup environments, and methodologies and theories for startup research. We connect and motivate this research agenda with past studies in software startup research, while pointing out possible future directions. While all authors of this research agenda have their main background in Software Engineering or Computer Science, their interestin software startups broadens the perspective to the challenges, but also to the opportunities that emerge from multi-disciplinary research. Our audience is therefore primarily software engineering researchers, even though we aim at stimulating collaborations and research that crosses disciplinary boundaries. We believe that with this research agenda we cover a wide spectrum of the software startup industry current needs.

    Art therapy is a field of activity with both practical and theoretical foundations although the latter are not precisely defined. Management and quality sciences, as well as economics, include management in the healthcare sector as one of their areas of interest. Despite a wealth of literature on the subject of management in healthcare, no in-depth research on art therapy as a specific form of delivery of the therapeutic process has been conducted so far. The aim of this article is to identify potential areas for further interdisciplinary research linking the field of management and quality with health sciences and education sciences (bearing in mind that art therapy is not a separate, autonomous scientific discipline). In order to achieve this we conducted a comparative analysis of selected concepts of management and quality sciences with the scope of the subject matter of art therapy, and as a qualitative method of literature review we chose the deductive method. The outcome of the study is the development of a proposed set of areas for further interdisciplinary research linking management and quality sciences with the sciences that include art therapy. The research findings presented here highlight numerous areas of overlap between art therapy and management and quality sciences, which hold potential for application in art therapy practice and theory.

    Purpose: We aim to grasp the various facets of shifts towards omnichannel and identify the gaps uncovered by extant scholarship Design/methodology/approach: The research approach is based on a scoping review to investigate the scope of literature on omnichannel transition. Promising avenues for future research were outlined based on the qualitative analysis of extant research. Findings: Based on the scoping review, we identified and proposed further avenues of research. The first avenue explored what makes the transition from single channel to omnichannel a gradual process or an immediate shift rooted in managerial cognition. The second avenue was exploring the transformation process towards omnichannel from the perspective of a strategy-as-practice lens. Research limitations/implications: The research is based on secondary sources. Further research and empirical studies are needed to confirm our findings. Originality/value: We identified the need to address omnichannel transition and transformation separately in further research. We shed some light on these two areas by proposing the cognition perspective and strategy-as-practice theory as theoretical frameworks.
    Metodologia: podejście badawcze opiera się na przeglądzie literatury w celu identyfikacji luk badawczych w zakresie transformacji omnichannel. Wnioski: zidentyfikowaliśmy i zaproponowaliśmy dalsze kierunki badań. Pierwszy z nich dotyczy tego, co sprawia, że przejście od pojedynczego kanału do omnichannel jest procesem stopniowym lub natychmiastową zmianą zakorzenioną w menedżerskim postrzeganiu tego procesu. Drugim kierunkiem było zbadanie procesu transformacji w kierunku omnichannel z perspektywy strategii jako praktyki. Ograniczenia badań/implikacje: badanie opiera się na źródłach wtórnych. Potrzebne są dalsze badania i studia empiryczne, aby pogłębić zaproponowane kierunki badań. Oryginalność: zidentyfikowaliśmy potrzebę oddzielnego adresowania w dalszych badaniach transformacji i tranzycji omnichannel. Zaproponowaliśmy perspektywę poznawczą i teorię strategii jako praktyki w charakterze ram teoretycznych, które mogą zostać wykorzystane w dalszej eksploracji tego tematu.

    Business diplomacy acts as a strategic instrument for corporations navigating the intricacies of the global business landscape. This involves establishing, maintaining, and navigating relationships with external organizations and internal stakeholders to achieve business goals and positively influence the business environment. This article presents a comprehensive bibliometric analysis of the field of business diplomacy, aiming to unravel its structure, dynamics, and trends. Three research questions guide the exploration: RQ1. What is the structure of research on business diplomacy? RQ2. What are the dynamics and significant activities within business diplomacy? RQ3. What are the prospective research directions? The bibliometric analysis covered 74 publications extracted from the Scopus database. Employing a two-stage analysis with Microsoft Excel and VOSviewer, the study identifies key contributing countries, authors, sources, and critical themes within the field. Furthermore, a thorough examination of 10 publications, chosen through bibliographic coupling analysis, enhanced the results, identifying key research trends and insights, and contributing to an enriched understanding of the research area. The study concludes by proposing future research paths to guide practitioners and researchers contributing to the evolving landscape of business diplomacy.
    Dyplomacja biznesowa to strategiczne narzędzie firm operujących w zmiennym krajobrazie globalnego środowiska biznesowego. Obejmuje ona nawiązywanie, utrzymywanie i kierowanie relacjami z zewnętrznymi i wewnętrznymi interesariuszami. W artykule przeprowadzono analizę bibliometryczną obszaru dyplomacji biznesowej, która miała na celu zrozumienie jego struktury, dynamiki i trendów. Artykuł odpowiada na 3 pytania badawcze: 1. Jaka jest struktura badań nad dyplomacją biznesową? 2. Jaka jest dynamika badań nad dyplomacją biznesową? 3. Jakie są potencjalne kierunki dalszych badań w obszarze dyplomacji biznesowej? Analiza bibliometryczna obejmowała 74 publikacje z bazy Scopus. Przy użyciu dwuetapowego podejścia oraz korzystając z programów Microsoft Excel i VOSviewer, w pierwszym kroku zidentyfikowano kluczowe kraje, autorów, źródła i główne tematy w badanym obszarze. Następnie analizie poddano 10 publikacji zidentyfikowanych na podstawie analizy powiązań bibliograficznych. Na zakończenie przedstawiono propozycje przyszłych kierunków badań, które przyczynią się do rozwoju tego nowego obszaru badawczego.

    Much has changed in the area of agenda-setting research since the initial study by McCombs and Shaw during the 1968 U.S. Presidential election. The complexities of today’s world have led to several new challenges for agenda-setting research, both methodologically and theoretically. New technologies also have impacted the theoretical framework of agenda-setting effects. Despite the extensive previous research – recent estimates claim that there are between 400 and 500 agenda-setting studies – agenda-setting remains a timely (and timeless) theory with researchers continuing to examine new and important topics. Many of these new topics can be found in the accompanying studies. In this volume, studies have applied the agenda-setting theory in Spain, Poland, Turkey and Kosovo. Central Europe appears to be an ideal location for agenda-setting research, given the wide range of press freedom now being practiced in the former Communist countries. Some former Communist countries have granted the press a great deal of freedom.

    The aim of this paper is to present the results of an automated research conducted on the most popular Polish Internet news portals in the week of the 2009 European Parliament election as well as during four weeks prior to this event. Detailed analysis of the exposure levels of main political parties is included and compared with the election results. This paper describes the quantitative analysis of the data gathered. The main similarities and differences in covering the election between portals are also discussed. Moreover, this article aims at introducing basic concepts of research tools, which allow to automate the procedure of gathering data from the Internet and processing it.

    Ewaluacja wpływu badań naukowych na środowiska pozanaukowe stała się w ostatnich latach przedmiotem dużego zainteresowania rządów, instytucji zajmujących się dystrybucją funduszy oraz badaczy akademickiej ewaluacji. Na świecie opracowano kilka modeli takiej oceny, różniących się celami i metodologią. Najbardziej kompleksową inicjatywą jest brytyjski system Impact Agenda, wprowadzony w 2014 r. jako element cyklicznego systemu oceny Research Excellence Framework (REF). „Wpływ społeczny” (impact) jest w jego ramach oceniany za pomocą jakościowej metodologii opartej na studiach przypadku (case studies), zaś wynik ewaluacji stanowi 20% końcowej oceny jednostki naukowej. Artykuł przedstawia kontekst wprowadzenia oceny „wpływu społecznego” w Wielkiej Brytanii oraz opisuje metodologię REF, kładąc szczególny nacisk na ewaluację elementu „impact”. Następnie na podstawie literatury oraz badań własnych autorki omawia pozytywne efekty oraz ograniczenia Impact Agenda. Ostatnia część tekstu zawiera sugestie co do „lekcji wyniesionych z REF 2014”, które mogą stanowić punkt odniesienia dla podobnych inicjatyw w Polsce. Tekst zamyka teza, że szerokie rozumienie „wpływu społecznego” nauki jako wpływu nie tylko na gospodarkę, lecz także jako dialogu ze społeczeństwem obywatelskim, mediami, sferą kultury i edukacji, może stanowić wyjście poza dychotomię: nauka utylitarna vs. nauka bezużytyczna.
    Recent years have seen a growth of interest in the evaluation of research’s “social impact” on the side of national governments, research funding bodies and scholars in the field of academic evaluation. While several models of impact evaluation have been developed around the world, the most robust one is the British Impact Agenda, introduced in 2014 as element of the cyclical Research Excellence Framework (REF) exercise. Within this system research impact is assessed using a qualitative methodology based on case studies. The result of the impact assessment represents 20% of the final score of the unit of assessment. The article presents the context of the introduction of impact assessment in the United Kingdom and describes the advantages and challenges of the Impact Agenda. The last section of the text focuses on the “lessons learned from REF 2014” that can be relevant in the Polish context. The author closes with a reflection: a broad understanding of “social impact” of research – conceived as influence not only on the economy but also on NGOs, media, culture, education etc. – can help overcome the dichotomy between “blue skies” and utilitarian research.

    Wywiad dotyczy początków ewaluacji „wpływu społecznego”1 w Wielkiej Brytanii, jej konsekwencji dla kultury akademickiej, a także możliwości wprowadzenia podobnego systemu oceny w Polsce. David Sweeney przekonuje, że o ile Impact Agenda stanowi odpowiedź na wiele wyzwań brytyjskiej nauki, o tyle nie można przenieść tego systemu bezpośrednio na inny grunt. System ewaluacji w każdym kraju powinien być dostosowany do lokalnej kultury akademickiej i celów stawianych przed naukowcami.
    The interview explores the challenges related to the introduction of the Impact Agenda, its consequences for academic culture as well as the possibility of putting in place a similar evaluation framework in Poland. David Sweeney argues that while the Impact Agenda addresses some issues of British science, it cannot be simply transposed to other academic systems. Instead, policy makers should factor in the local academic culture and the particular aims set before science in their context.

    Artykuł omawia podejście wielokrotnych strumieni (MSA) i pułapki związane z jego zastosowaniem. Główne pytania dotyczą nowej jakości i warunków zastosowania MSA w badaniach procesów regulacyjnych ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem poziomu UE. W artykule omówiono kwestie terminologiczne, podstawy i założenia podejścia, elementy struktury badawczej oraz dotychczasowe wykorzystanie przedmiotowej koncepcji. Autorka zwróciła uwagę na elementy, na które MSA kładzie szczególny nacisk, oraz potrzebę operacjonalizacji wszystkich komponentów ramy.
    The article discusses the Multiple Streams Approach (MSA) and the pitfalls of its use. The main questions concern the new quality and conditions of MSA application in research on regulatory processes, with particular emphasis on the EU level. The article discusses the issue of terminology, the foundation and assumptions of the approach, elements of the research structure, and the use of concept to date. The author highlights the elements emphasized by the MSA and the need to operationalize all components of the framework.
