Opis:
The notion of positive discrete-time Lyapunov system is introduced. Solution of the Lyapunov state equation is derived and necessary and sufficient conditions for the positivity of Lyapunov system are established. Different necessary and sufficient conditions for the asymptotic stability of the positive Lyapunov systems are given. Using the Kronecker product of matrices necessary and sufficient conditions for reachability and controllability of the positive Lyapunov systems are established. The considerations are illustrated by numerical example.

A human being functions in a contemporary reality, which is marked by an uncertainty, a risk and concerns about fundamental values, an ambivalence and an axiological relativism. Therefore, people can feel decrease in their sense of security in both personal and social dimensions. Due to the issues discussed in this paper it is important to acknowledge a security as a process, which is changing and evolving. Since an action and development are included in achieving optimal security, the impact of personality and as a further consequence one of the most dominant human need i.e. self-realization should also be included. If a human being has well-formed need for creating themselves, they function as a creator, or at least a co-creator of their own development and security.

The authoress widely presents one of the concepts of creative teacher as a subject of self-realization aim. In this concept teacher is perceived as person who has to take up a difficult challenge preparing him and his students to innovative actions in personal, cultural, social and professional areas. Additionally the article raises the problem of advancement of teacher's qualifications in the self-realization competences in a system of formal and non-formal education. The paper studies the realization problem for series and parallel connections of nonlinear single-input single-output systems, described by higher order differential equations. Necessary and sufficient conditions are given for the existence of the classical state space realization in both cases. It is proved that post- and parallel compensators are of no help in overcoming non-realizability. Results are illustrated by an example.

The realization problem for 2D positive singular linear hybrid systems is formulated, as well as a method based on the state variable diagram for finding a positive realization of a given improper transfer function is proposed. Sufficient conditions for the existence of a positive realization of a given improper transfer function are established. A procedure for computation of a positive realization is proposed and illustrated by a numerical example.

In this research work, a twelve-term novel 5-D hyperchaotic Lorenz system with three quadratic nonlinearities has been derived by adding a feedback control to a ten-term 4-D hyperchaotic Lorenz system (Jia, 2007) with three quadratic nonlinearities. The 4-D hyperchaotic Lorenz system (Jia, 2007) has the Lyapunov exponents L1 = 0.3684,L2 = 0.2174,L3 = 0 and L4 =−12.9513, and the Kaplan-Yorke dimension of this 4-D system is found as DKY =3.0452. The 5-D novel hyperchaotic Lorenz system proposed in this work has the Lyapunov exponents L1 = 0.4195,L2 = 0.2430,L3 = 0.0145,L4 = 0 and L5 = −13.0405, and the Kaplan-Yorke dimension of this 5-D system is found as DKY =4.0159. Thus, the novel 5-D hyperchaotic Lorenz system has a maximal Lyapunov exponent (MLE), which is greater than the maximal Lyapunov exponent (MLE) of the 4-D hyperchaotic Lorenz system. The 5-D novel hyperchaotic Lorenz system has a unique equilibrium point at the origin, which is a saddle-point and hence unstable. Next, an adaptive controller is designed to stabilize the novel 5-D hyperchaotic Lorenz system with unknown system parameters. Moreover, an adaptive controller is designed to achieve global hyperchaos synchronization of the identical novel 5-D hyperchaotic Lorenz systems with unknown system parameters. Finally, an electronic circuit realization of the novel 5-D hyperchaotic Lorenz system using SPICE is described in detail to confirm the feasibility of the theoretical model.

Colm Tóibín’s 2009 novel Brooklyn accompanies Eilis Lacey, a native of Enniscorthy, Ireland of the 1950s on a reluctant voyage across the Atlantic. Her passage reconstructs a common experience of immigration and exile to New York for the Irish working class seeking to escape the lack of prospects in small-town Ireland after the Second World War. Caught as she is between two homes-the traditional Irish culture she emerges from and the new capitalist society of America to which she emigrates-Eilis is placed in a polemical relationship to the public sphere, staked on multiple grounds of in-betweenness: she is a woman, Irish, and an exile. Belonging, for her, is posited on a complex understanding of the tensions between national and transnational identities. Eilis’s parochialism, at first, and cosmopolitanism, later on, are both decisive characteristics that become driving forces behind her social integration and marriage prospects. She is initially barred from promising job and marriage opportunities due to her naivety and lack of sophistication. As an Irish female immigrant, Eilis becomes in the course of the novel a cosmopolitan from the margins, one of the newly uprooted, and ultimately a split self.

There do exist two basic approaches towards the term ‘freedom’. The first one, is a general approach, related to an universal meaning of the term. The second one, is a particular approach, based on taking/heading for understanding of freedom in plural terms. Both approaches might, but not necessary do, exclude each other. An alternative takes an interpretation of particular freedoms, which simultaneously excludes the existence of a universal freedom (and the other way around). On the other hand, conjunction, i.e. the examination of a universal freedom on the basis of analysis of particular freedoms and/or reconstruction of the term “freedom” on the basis of interpretations and meanings given to particular freedoms. As a follower of the idea of conjunction of both approaches, I’m analyzing in this paper the theoretical connotations of this term such as: the feeling of freedom, its limitations, responsibility, tolerance, auto-creation and self-realization. This is being done for the reason to stress out the depth and the vastness of freedom, as well to let the potential reader reconstruct it.

The main axis of Arab American literature is its portrayal of the experiences that Arab Americans go through in their daily life inside and outside the USA. Taking Mohja Kahf’s novel as a literary sample, this paper examines the extent to which triple consciousness, faith development, and existentialist thought forge Khadra’s perplexity in understanding her identity – she struggles to explore her true self in two different cultural realms i.e., Mecca and Indianapolis. By employing points of view and criticism of well-known scholars and critics such as Erik Erikson, Henri Tajfel and James Fowler, this paper concludes that Khadra, as an escape from her psychological unrest in two incompatible cultures, locates herself in what I call as the fourth space.

The positive realization problem for a class of singular continuous-time linear SISO systems with delays in state and in output is addressed. The notions of canonical forms of matrices and of dual systems are extended for singular linear systems with delays. Necessary and sufficient conditions for positivity of SISO singular continuous-time systems with delays and sufficient conditions for the existence of a positive singular realization are established. A procedure for computation of a positive singular realization of a given transfer function is proposed and illustrated by a numerical example.

The realization problem for linear hybrid systems described by the general model is formulated and solved. Sufficient conditions for the existence of positive realizations are established. A procedure based on the state variable diagram method for computation of a positive realization of a given transfer matrix is proposed.
