Opis:
The transmission-disequilibrium test (TDT) is a model-free method to detect linkage between a marker and a trait locus. Originally developed to map disease genes in human genetics, this statistic has been recently extended to deal with quantitative characters. The emphasis of current research is on investigating statistical properties of the test applied to data from livestock populations. For various constellations of sample parameters, it is shown via simulation that the empirically derived null hypothesis distribution of TDT remains in good agreement with its asymptotic distribution while its power is satisfactory only for very close linkage. TDT is then applied to a real data set from milk production data of a dairy cattle population.

The paper concerns the industrial data acquisition systems designated to collect data produced by technological process. The Wonderware IndustrialSQL Server based on MS SQL Server was introduced as an example of commercially available software for industrial data acquisition. In particular we focused on case studies of its practical applications such as diagnosing process.

The paper concerns multi-dimensional data analysis based on data warehousing and On-Line Analytical Processing (OLAP) technologies. Especially we focused on applications with relative high frequency of data changes (real-time OLAP). As an illustrative example, the real-time OLAP funcionalities of MS SQL Server Analysis Services are presented.

W pracy zaprezentowano możliwości użycia języka LOTOS [3, 7] w projektowaniu oprogramowania systemów czasu rzeczywistego metodą HOOD [6, 13]. Wybrane struktury HOOD zostają wyrażone w języku algebry procesów i abstrakcyjnych typów danych, co zapewnia możliwość formalnej analizy tworzonego projektu. We wprowadzeniu do pracy wyjaśniono cel i motywacje do tworzenia modelu formalnego projektu systemu czasu rzeczywistego. Następnie przedstawiono skrócony opis metodyki hierarchicznego projektowania HOOD, której notacja i proces projektowy stanowią bazę dla proponowanej metody formalizacji. Wyjaśniono znaczenie takich konstrukcji, jak moduł, interfejs, operacja, hierarchia użycia i zawierania. W kolejnym punkcie, po krótkim przedstawieniu języka LOTOS [3, 7], zaprezentowano technikę, w której konstrukcje metody HOOD zostają zinterpretowane w języku formalnym algebry procesów i abstrakcyjnych typów danych. Opis przeprowadzony jest dla prostego przykładu projektu w HOOD, celem wyjaśnienia istoty interpretacji. W części końcowej pracy podano wnioski wraz ze wskazaniem dalszych możliwych kierunków rozwoju i zastosowań prezentowanej metody.
The article presents a possibility of using LOTOS [3, 7] formal language in the HOOD [6, 13] real-time system design. Process algebras and abstract data types are used to express some HOOD structures in order to allow formal analysis of the system. The introduction explains the motivations and the goal of the work. Then, there is a brief survey of the HOOD hierarchical design method in the next point. It states as the base for the formalization method explained in the article. The notions of module, interface, operation, use and include relations are briefly explained. After it, the simple LOTOS language constructs are also presented. Next point explains the formalization of the HOOD structures. This is the most essentials part of the work where the method is presented on the exemplary HOOD diagram. LOTOS code is produced relate to the HOOD informal semantic. It expresses the main concepts of the HOOD dynamic model. There are the conclusions and further works proposals at the end of the article.

Study Objective: The aim of this study was to test a panel of 6 reference genes in order to identify and validate the most suitable reference genes for expression studies in paired healthy and non-small cell lung cancer tissues. Method: Quantitative real-time PCR followed by the NormFinder- and geNorm-based analysis was employed. The study involved 21 non-small cell lung cancer patients. Results: The analysis of experimental data revealed HPRT1 as the most stable gene followed by RPLP0 and ESD. In contrast, GAPDH was found to be the least stable gene. HPRT1 together with ESD was revealed as the pair of genes introducing the least systematic error into data normalization. Validation by bootstrap random sampling technique and by normalizing exemplary gene expression data confirmed the results. Conclusion: Although HPRT1 and ESD may by recommended for data normalization in gene expression studies on non-small cell lung cancer, the suitability of selected reference genes must be unconditionally validated prior to each study.

The article presents a training and diagnostic workstation designed for Polish Navy ASW helicopter navigators. Installed at the helicopter base, the workstation is used for training and instruction in operating the device and analysing information gathered by navigators during the flight using the ASW onboard sonar, sonobuoy receiver and magnetometer. The workstation allows instructors to task two operators and monitor their performance under conditions resembling those onboard a plane. The tasks involve the operation of the consoles and collecting information during tactical situations, diagnosing damage and analysing flight data in office environment. The objective is to ensure proper helicopter navigator training and experience given the limited possibility of training flights.

The paper is concerned with the analysis of under-keel clearance of ships based on real data from Szczecin Maritime Office. Using probabilistic method for UKC assessment give it possibility to create the distribution of under-keel clearance in several ship’s passages and in further step to determine the probability of ship’s grounding accident during the port approach. The results of using this type of model could be used in risk assessment of ships entering to the ports, therefore it is possible to used probabilistic model in Maritime Office employees’ everyday decision making practice. Research results present verification of probabilistic model, based on data from Vessel Traffic Service database and probability of touching the bottom during ships’ passages on Swinoujscie - Szczecin waterway. Moreover there are presented examples of these situations when entering to the port for analysed ships is not allowed according to the model.

This paper presents the design and the practical realization of a measurement system dedicated to fast real-time multichannel registration of electronic system thermal response. The response is registered in parallel channels with a frequency up to 1 MHz- Such a high frequency is required for the thermal identification of electronic systems. The designed circuit is used here for the investigation of a thermal test ASIC. The presented solution can be extended for a different number of measurement channels and adapted for other types of sensors.

Artykuł ten prezentuje sytuację na rynku nieruchomości w Polsce w czasie globalnego kryzysu finansowego. W związku z sytuacją ekonomiczną na świecie główne firmy deweloperskie w Polsce znacznie ograniczyły plany dotyczące ich rozwoju. Oceny rynku nieruchomości mieszkaniowych dokonano analizując kondycję finansową głównych firm deweloperskich. Do badania wybrano siedem dużych firm deweloperskich: Echo, Polnord, LCC, Gant, Dom Development, Ronson oraz JW. Construction, które notowane są na Warszawskiej Giełdzie Papierów Wartościowych. Analizie poddano dane finansowe z bilansów i rachunków wyników w okresie od 1 stycznia 2008 do 31 marca 2009.

The paper presents the practical using of model for underkeel clearance evaluation. Real data from Maritime Office concerning ships which enter ports was used to analysis of results first probabilistic model of underkeel clearance and next integrated system. During analysis mean probability that underkeel clearance will be less than zero was determined for ports in Świnoujście, Szczecin and Police. Results of this analysis can be used for further research connected with integrated system for underkeel clearance calculation.

Artykuł jest poświęcony praktycznym problemom estymacji wektora stanu systemu elektroenergetycznego. The paper describes practice problem in power system stale estimation. General state estimation theory is presented, as well as network topology processing, observability test, state estimation and bad data analysis. Last chapter shows integration of described modules in full system of real-time modeling.

Opis:
In recent years, storage reliability has attracted much attention for increasing reliability requirement. In this paper, forecast models for real-time reliability of storage system under periodic inspection and maintenance are presented, which is based on the theories of reliability physics and exponential distribution. The models are developed under two newly-defined imperfect repair modes, i.e., Improved As Bad As Old (I-ABAO) and Improved As Good As New (I-AGAN). A completion method for censored life data is also proposed by averaging the residual lifetime. According to the complete and censored lifetime data, parameters in the models are estimated by applying maximum likelihood estimation method and iterative method respectively. A numerical example of a storage system is given to verify the feasibility of the proposed completion method and the effectiveness of the two models.
W ostatnich latach wiele uwagi poświęcono tematyce niezawodności magazynowania w odniesieniu do zwiększania wymogu niezawodności. W prezentowanym artykule, przedstawiono modele do prognozowania w czasie rzeczywistym niezawodności systemu magazynowania podlegającego przeglądom okresowym i obsłudze. Modele oparto na teoriach z zakresu fizyki niezawodności oraz na rozkładzie wykładniczym. Proponowane modele opracowano dla dwóch nowo zdefiniowanych opcji niepełnej odnowy, t.j. Improved-As Bad As Old (Jak Tuż Przed Uszkodzeniem - Wersja Udoskonalona) oraz Improved-As Good As New (Jak Fabrycznie Nowy - Wersja Udoskonalona). Zaproponowano także metodę uzupełniania danych cenzurowanych (uciętych) dotyczących trwałości polegającą na uśrednianiu trwałości resztkowej. Zgodnie z pełnymi i cenzurowanymi danymi trwałościowymi, parametry w proponowanych modelach ocenia się, odpowiednio, z zastosowaniem estymacji metodą największej wiarygodności oraz metody iteracyjnej. Poprawność przedstawionej metody uzupełniania oraz efektywność proponowanych dwóch modeli zweryfikowano na podstawie numerycznego przykładu systemu magazynowania.

Missing data is a nuisance in statistics. Real donor imputation can be used with item nonresponse. A pool of donor units with similar values on auxiliary variables is matched to each unit with missing values. The missing value is then replaced by a copy of the corresponding observed value from a randomly drawn donor. Such methods can to some extent protect against nonresponse bias. But bias also depends on the estimator and the nature of the data. We adopt techniques from kernel estimation to combat this bias. Motivated by Pólya urn sampling, we sequentially update the set of potential donors with units already imputed, and use multiple imputations via Bayesian bootstrap to account for imputation uncertainty. Simulations with a single auxiliary variable show that our imputation method performs almost as well as competing methods with linear data, but better when data is nonlinear, especially with large samples.

Data revision is usually defined as an adjustment published after initial value had been announced; it may reflect rectification of errors, availability of new information, introduction of new measurement or aggregation techniques etc. This paper addresses the impact of data revisions on measures of expectations and offers an introduction to empirical analysis of data vintage in testing properties of expectations. It also defines and classifies data revisions and presents a review of literature and databases available for the purposes of real time analysis.
