Opis:
Identity of reproductive material is essential in artificial forest regeneration. Legal regulations cannot guarantee proof of identity. State and private organizations have been cooperating to develop a seed certification scheme in forestry. Representative samples of forest reproductive material are taken at any production stage starting at the time of seed collection through to plant delivery as well as at time of changing ownership. The first sample at the time of seed harvest is used to determine the maximum potential yield of living germinants from the total collection. Furhtermore this and the other samples are tested randomly at a determined level of intensity or in case of doubt by Isozyme/DNA methods. Sampling techniques have been tested and described in a handbook. The biochemical-genetic tests are being standardized for all major commercial species. Forest reproductive material having been sampled in the described way will be certified "of provable identity" by a neutral agency. The Scheme will be open to anyone complying with the rules laid down. Larger forest owners have confirmed to preferably purchase "forest plants of provable identity".

Opis:
Employee Suggestion Schemes have been used in organizations for a long time due to the fact that they enable fostering of creative ability of employees. However, they must be used effectively and in a sustainable manner to better the creativity and innovation capacity of organizations in order to improve competitive advantage. Therefore there is a need to understand the maturity of Employee Suggestion Schemes. This paper proposes a new, structured evaluation tool for assessing an organizational Employee Suggestion Scheme maturity. It suggests five building blocks: Leadership and Work Environment, System Capability, System Effectiveness, Organizational Encouragement and System Barriers, each of them characterized by several relevant indicators and an assessment/grading scale in order for an organization to be able to determine the maturity level of their Employee Suggestion Scheme as: Initial stage, Development stage or Advanced stage. Organizations should apply this tool to assess the maturity level of their Employee Suggestion Scheme and draw a roadmap for its improvements.

Opis:
The aim of the paper is to present how the Italian legislature supports the promotion and sale of broadly understood regional and traditional products, including the products covered by EU quality system. It analyses rules for the implementation in some regional Rural Development Programs measure under art. 16 of EU Regulation 1305/2013 and the national and regional regulations concerning various forms of promotion and sale of products. Italian solutions to promote quality products, are focused on improving their commercialization in local markets in the short supply chain. These are the rules for the creation of farmers’ markets; destination of specific area in the municipal agricultural markets for local products; administration of regional products in agritourism; provisions enabling farmers to combine their agricultural and food products in the processing and direct sales, as well as providing a very broad catalog forms of union, both on the supply side (with respect to the participants in the production chain) as well as on the demand side, by creating the so-called folk purchasing groups.

Opis:
The aims of this study was to see the effect of breed, parity and scheme of collection on the quality and quantity of OPU derived oocytes and effect of transvaginal ultrasound guided follicular aspiration on subsequent fertility of donor cows. A total of 28 animals (11 Boran and 11 Boran Holstein-Friesian cross for once per week collection, and 7 Boran and 7 Boran Holstein-Friesian cross for twice per week collection) were used in this experiment. A total of 22 animals were evaluated for the effect of the OPU procedure on subsequent reproductive function. In 150 Ovum Pick up sessions, irrespective of collection scheme, breed and parity, 1124 follicle (554 in Boran and 570 in HF crosses) were punctured with a recovery rate of 51.1% in Boran and 48.6% in the crosses. Relatively more follicles were aspirated in crosses compared to Borans although the difference in oocyte recovery rate and quality were not statistically significant. Overall recovery rate was 57.7% in heifers and 42% in cows. Frequency of aspiration significantly influenced (P<0.05) oocyte recovery rate with more follicles aspirated in Once per week per session compared to twice per week per session but there was no difference in the mean number of recovered oocytes. A significantly higher number of follicles were aspirated (P<0.05) and good quality oocytes were greater in heifers than cows. Different COCs quality grades were recovered from breed, parity and frequency of collection category. Overall from a total of 574 collected COCs, about 326 (57%) of the recovered COCs were of the quality grades I and II, whereas 248 (43%) were with quality grades III and IV. All 22 animals showed estrus on average after 19 days of the last OPU procedure though a relatively weaker intensity of estrus signs, irregularity of the cycle and minor ovarian morphological change were noted. Response rate to a single PGF2α treatment on 18 animals was 72% (13/18). Subsequent insemination of those in estrus resulted in 53.8% (7/13) first service conception rate. In conclusion, parity, and to some extent frequency of collection had a significant effect on the quality and quantity of oocyte but not breed. Animals at post OPU were able to continue cycling and become pregnant.

Opis:
The aim of this study was to determine the legal nature and scope of protection of traditional specialities guaranteed (TSGs) and, against this background, to assess whether the TSG scheme fulfils its purpose of supporting producers in marketing their products, protecting traditional production methods and advising consumers on the value-adding characteristics of these products. The results of the study have shown that producers of traditional products from a specific geographical area do not have an exclusive right to use a registered name, as a result of which the TSG scheme does not provide them with a competitive advantage and therefore does not fulfil its objective of supporting them in marketing their products. It also prejudges the difficulty of protecting traditional production methods throughout the EU, whereas, when the registered name is reserved and official controls of the use of the name are mandatory, the TSG scheme is credible and provides consumers with reliable ( albeit not entirely clear) information on the added value of the traditional product.
