The paper is an in-depth analysis of the constraints and challenges that the researcher of Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA) faces in practices connected to the research processes. To fully understand where that trouble derives from, we need to examine the notion of discourse and the process of CDA itself. Then the major issues will be exemplified by particular experiences gained in the process of conducting the research project “Women in Intimate Relationships: The Empirical and Critical Study” financed by the Polish National Science Centre (NCN no 2011/01/D/HS6/02470). On one side, the text is an attempt to structure and systematize the knowledge about difficulties caused by the CDA processes, but on the other, it can be read as a kind of “warning notice” that can save very young researchers from making significant mistakes before they start their CDA investigations.

The aim of the article is to present the subject of project management of building electrical installations in the sports and entertainment hall. This article will provide a short analysis of the literature on project management, description and analysis of the most important issues of the project and its schedule, critical path analysis and the conclusions and recommendations of the project. In particular, the following topics will be presented: a description of the project, the scope of electrical works, work breakdown structure, the organizational structure of the Office of Project Implementation, the organization of the construction site, schedule Gantt together with an analysis PERT for the transformer station GSZ.
Celem artykułu jest przedstawienie zarządzania logistycznego projektem budowy instalacji elektrycznej w hali widowiskowo sportowej. W artykule zawarto krótką analizę literatury dotyczącej zarządzania logistycznego projektami, opis i analiza najistotniejszych zagadnień projektu wraz z jego harmonogramem, analizą ścieżki krytycznej oraz wnioski i zalecenia projektowe. W szczególności zostaną przedstawione następujące zagadnienia: opis projektu, zakres robót elektrycznych, struktura podziału pracy, struktura organizacyjna Biura Realizacji Projektu, organizacja placu budowy, harmonogram Gantta wraz z analizą PERT dla stacji transformatorowej GSZ.

Modern computer programs used for simulating the kinematics of machines allow to collect a great number of information oncerning the structure at the early stage of the design. Such procedures make it possible to avoid errors in the construction process and reduce costs as well as time. The article is an example of a kinematic analysis of the tractor and tillageseed unit.

Zespół pałacowo-parkowy Radziwiłłów w Białej Podlaskiej stanowi jedną z najwybitniejszych realizacji architektonicznych XVII wieku powstałych na terenie Wielkiego Księstwa Litewskiego. Mimo iż do czasów obecnych nie zachowała się bryła pałacu (został rozebrany w 1883 r.), to pozostałe obiekty architektoniczne – trzy oficyny ujmujące jeden z największych dziedzińców pałacowych Rzeczypospolitej Obojga Narodów, kaplica pałacowa, wieża, brama wjazdowa oraz otaczające cały zespół ziemne obwałowania obronne systemu staroholenderskiego stanowią nadal niezwykle cenny obiekt ściśle powiązany ze strukturą przestrzenną miasta oraz jego historią. Na podstawie przeglądu literatury przedmiotu i analiz informacji pochodzących ze źródeł archiwalnych – zarówno opisowych, ikonograficznych i kartograf cznych, uwzględniając także opracowane w 2. połowie XX wieku koncepcje i projekty rewaloryzacji – podjęto próbę przedstawienia kolejnych faz rozwoju i przemian tego zabytkowego zespołu w kolejnych okresach jego istnienia. Pozwoliło to na ocenę stanu jego przetrwania. Przeprowadzona analiza historyczna stanowi podstawę do wskazania kierunków dalszych działań służących wydobyciu i zachowaniu wartości tego unikalnego kompleksu.
The palace and park complex of the Radziwiłł family in Biała Podlaska constitutes one of the most outstanding architectural developments of the 17th century erected within the area of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania. In spite of the fact that the main body of the palace did not survive until today (it was demolished in 1883), the remaining buildings - three outbuildings enclosing one of the largest palace courtyards in the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth, the palace chapel, tower, entrance gate, and ramparts built according to the old Dutch system, surrounding the entire complex - still constitute an extremely valuable site, closely connected with the city’s spatial structure and its history. Based on a review of source literature and analyses of information from archival sources - descriptive, iconographic, and cartographic alike, and taking into consideration the restoration concepts and projects developed in the 2nd half of the 20th century - an attempt was made at presenting the consecutive phases of development and transformations of this historic complex in the successive periods of its existence. This made it possible to assess its state of preservation. The historical analysis carried out forms the basis for pointing out suggestions for further activities aimed at bringing out and preserving the values of this unique complex.

The sketch “Between the Stage and Gallery of Paintings: On Jadwiga Pożarowska's Unaccomplished Stage Design Projects (On the Problems of Research on the Stage Designer's Work) is based on the writing of Jadwiga Pożakowska (1928-2006). It brings home to us one of the aspects of theatre research work on the stage designer's work concerned with this part of his output that includes his unaccomplished stage design projects. The first research are is composed by those stage designs which have not been staged. The second area consists of other stage design solutions, but they decisively go beyond the frameworks of introductory sketches. In the third area we have projects without any concrete theatrical order. They are treated as artistic challenges and struggles with a stage design theme as such. For each group of projects there are different basic contexts to analyse and interpret, the common are area being individual plastic thinking and the screenwriter's sensitivity. This sketch is also an attempt to restore the rank of unaccomplished studies that additionally shed light on the overall artistic output of their author.

Managing a design process focuses on demonstrating how strategy and designdriven innovation can be made to achieve final product – a project – compatible and coherent with total business strategy. This article presents literature review and shows the new conception of design management and reason behind their importance in modern business today. Zarządzanie procesem wzornictwa koncentruje się na zademonstrowaniu, w jaki sposób strategia i oparte na wzorach innowacje mogą osiągnąć produkt końcowy – projekt – kompatybilny i spójny z ogólną strategią biznesu. Zarządzanie tym procesem bada, jak można wykorzystać wzornictwo do ustalenia występowania i doświadczenia organizacji, natomiast czyniąc to wpływa na to, jak jest wyrażana i postrzegana organizacja i jej marka. Artykuł przedstawia przegląd literatury i ukazuje nową koncepcję zarządzania wzornictwem oraz racje leżące dziś u podstaw jego znaczenia w nowoczesnym biznesie. Artykuł przeglądowy opiera się na podstawach teoretycznych.
Управление процессом создания дизайна сосредоточивается на представлении, как можно осуществить стратегию и основанные на дизайне инновации для достижения конечного продукта – проекта – связного и совместимого с общей стратегией бизнеса. Управление этим процессом изучает, как можно использовать дизайн для выявления существования и опыта организации, поступая же таким образом, повлиять на то, как себя представляют и как воспринимаются организация и ее бренд. Статья представляет обзор литературы и указывает новую концепцию управления дизайном и причину, лежащую в основе его значения для современного бизнеса в настоящее время. Обзорная статья основана на теоретических предпосылках.

Na podstawie przeprowadzonych badań jakościowych i wskazanych implikacji do dalszych prac w zakresie opracowania założeń innowacji odpowiadającej na zidentyfikowane luki autorzy opracowali model zawierający metody planowania i zarządzania przedsięwzięciami studenckimi, bazujący na powszechnie uznanych standardach zarządzania projektami.
The article is a continuation of considerations on the issue of the project approach in the educational process and student activities at universities in Poland. An attempt was made to identify and analyze solutions that support initiating, organizing, and presenting the results of discussions on undertaken projects in the academic environment. Based on the qualitative research conducted and the indicated implications for further work in the development of assumptions for innovation responding to the identified gaps, the authors developed a model containing methods for planning and managing student projects, based on generally recognized project management standards.

Artykuł stanowi kontynuację rozważań nad zagadnieniem podejścia projektowego w zakresie procesu kształcenia na uczelniach wyższych w Polsce. Podjęto w nim próbę identyfikacji i analizy potrzeb interesariuszy, w tym studentów, nauczycieli akademickich oraz członków uczelnianych organizacji studenckich. W tym celu wyodrębniono: najważniejsze problemy, bariery i trudności wpływające na studentów i ich zaawansowanie w myśleniu projektowym; poziom jakości kształcenia na polskich uczelniach; poziom orientacji studentów na projekty; poziom przedsiębiorczości wśród studentów, absolwentów szkół średnich i zawodowych; ofertę edukacyjną polskich uczelni w zakresie podejścia projektowego; wpływ pandemii COVID-19 na szkolnictwo wyższe. Przeprowadzone badania pozwoliły określić potrzeby interesariuszy w zakresie rozważań nad autorską koncepcją wprowadzoną we wcześniejszym artykule [Radoła i in., 2021]. Na podstawie wniosków z wywiadów wskazano implikacje do dalszych prac badawczych w ujęciu ilościowym i opracowania założeń innowacji odpowiadającej na zidentyfikowane luki.
The article is a continuation of considerations on the issue of the project approach in the field of education at universities in Poland. An attempt was made on it identify and analyze the needs of stakeholders, including students, academic teachers and members of university student organizations. For this purpose, the following have been separated: the most important problems, barriers and difficulties affecting students and their advancement in design thinking; the quality level of education at Polish universities; the level of students’ project orientation; the level of entrepreneurship among students, graduates of high and vocational schools; educational offer of Polish universities in the field of project approach; the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on higher education. The conducted research made it possible to determine the needs of stakeholders in terms of considerations on the author’s concept introduced in an earlier article [Radoła et al., 2021]. On the basis of the conclusions of the interviews indicated implication to for further quantitative research and development of assumptions for innovation responding to the identified gaps.

Jednym z podstawowych przedmiotów na kierunku gospodarka przestrzenna jest projektowanie urbanistyczne. Kluczowym celem realizowanym w ramach tego przedmiotu jest przekazanie studentom wiedzy i umiejętności w zakresie projektowania zespołów urbanistycznych. Dodatkowo, realizacja modułu obejmującego zajęcia teoretyczne i zajęcia praktyczne, ma przyczynić się do wykształcenia u studentów umiejętności pracy w zespole i zarządzania projektem. Studenci w ramach realizacji przedmiotu mają możliwość uzyskania kompetencji niezbędnych w przyszłej pracy na stanowiskach związanych z projektowaniem zagospodarowania przestrzeni, ale także w zakresie innych profesji, w których kluczowym elementem jest zarządzanie nie tylko przestrzenią, ale także samym procesem planistyczno-projektowym, które stanowią jedne z najbardziej pożądanych przez pracodawców kompetencji na rynku pracy. W opracowaniu dokonana została identyfikacja efektów kształcenia realizowanego metodą projektu wraz z oceną potencjału zastosowania Partycypacyjnych Systemów Informacji Geograficznej (PGIS, ang. Public Participatory Geographic Infomation Systems) w celu usprawnienia procesu projektowego w ramach realizacji przedmiotu projektowanie urbanistyczne. Jednak problematyka podejmowana w opracowaniu może zostać odniesiona także do innych przedmiotów realizowanych na kierunku gospodarka przestrzenna, poświęconych tematyce szeroko pojmowanego planowania przestrzennego.
One of the main subjects within the program of Spatial Economy education is urban design, which key objective is to obtain knowledge and skills in the design of urban complexes. In addition, the expected result of the implementation of the module that includes theoretical and practical classes is to contribute to the education of graduates in the field of teamwork and project management that are one of the key competencies of future graduates. The aim of the article is to identify the learning outcomes of the project method application with an evaluation of the potential use of tools dedicated to promote public participation in urban planning that can support the design process.

Obecnie Polska jest jednym z przodujących krajów w realizacjach wzmocnienia podłoża pod obiektami mostowymi w technologii DSM Wet. Jest to technologia lubiana nie tylko przez wykonawców, ale i projektantów.
In the paper design problems concerning Deep Soil Mixing constituing the soil strengthening under Bridges were mentioned. Most common design approaches in this technique (Wet DSM) were described. The author focused the considerations on three main topics: the decomposition of horizontal force, soil cement mix strength increase in time and stiffness of the mix. The paper presents analysis based on numerical FEM model concerning the first issue, and author own research results aboutthe second and third issue.

Opracowanie zawiera próbę usystematyzowania wielopoziomowych podziałów wielobranżowego projektu budowlanego, jego etapów oraz angażowanych zespołów projektowych. Autor stara się przedstawić zagadnienia dotyczące struktury zespołu projektowego oraz zasady organizowania skutecznej współpracy i komunikacji w całym projekcie, rozumianym nie tylko jako dokumentacja techniczna, ale także jako proces. Analiza opiera się na aktualnych przepisach prawa budowlanego, a także na doświadczeniu własnym autora oraz jego współpracowników, zdobywanych w Polsce oraz poza jej granicami. Należy podkreślić, że za oczekiwany wynik zarządzania projektami w budownictwie jest uważany nie tylko skutecznie i efektywnie przeprowadzony proces projektowy, ale również jakość realnego wyniku (obiektu), który zwiększać powinien wartość estetyczną i społeczną w miejscu swojej lokalizacji.
This paper contains an attempt to systematize different layers of multidisciplinary construction project divisions, stages and design groups. Author is trying to present the issues concerning structure of the design team and the rules of organising an effective cooperation and communication throughout the project. Analysis are based on the current building code regulations, as well as on his own experience and experience of his co-workers, in Poland and abroad. It is also important to mark, that the expected result of the project management in construction is considered not only as an effective process, but also one that adds value to the aesthetic and social landscape of the project location.

W artykule przedstawiono zarys historii pojęć związanych z projektowaniem maszyn, w szczególności zaś omówiono rozwój terminologii technicznej i naukowej w powiązaniu z rozwojem cywilizacji technicznej oraz zaprezentowano zasady przyjmowania nazewnictwa technicznego na ziemiach polskich w okresie rewolucji przemysłowo-technicznej. Ponadto przedstawiono w ujęciu historycznym dzieje terminu „projekt”, wskazując początek jego współczesnego znaczenia. W zakończeniu artykułu zaprezentowano obecne znaczenie pojęć projektowania i konstruowania stosowanych w ojczystej literaturze przedmiotowej, a także ich interpretacje w literaturze anglojęzycznej.
A brief history of terms connected with machine design is presented in this paper. Particularly, the development of technical and scientific terminology as a consequence of technical civilization growth and principles of taking Polish technical nomenclature in a period of the Industrial Revolution are described. Moreover, a trace of the term ‘project’ is presented in the historical view with indication of its genesis. In conclusion, senses of terms ‘project’ and ‘design’ applied in Polish subject bibliography are presented together with their interpretation in English.

Opis:
The aim of the article is to present the outcomes of a study conducted in Business English classes of English Philology third-year students at Pope John Paul II State School of Higher Education in Biała Podlaska. The students were asked to do a project following the design thinking method, popular in business environments as a way of developing the best concept of a product or service. The objective of the classes was to introduce the students to real-life business-related situations and to facilitate the development of practical skills, useful in effective work performance, team work including. Afterwards, the students were surveyed on the issues related to the idea of the design thinking project and its usefulness for the students’ future careers and personal development. The reason behind the research is the fact that, apart from a fluent command of the language, foreign language university students ought to develop practical and interpersonal skills, including those related to business environments. The soft skills are of great significance in today’s world as they frequently seem to be more important in everyday business communication and team work than the knowledge of economic or business issues. One way of teaching such skills to university students could be the implementation of a design thinking project which might, at least to some extent, imitate the immersion in the business environment.

The digitalisation in the ship design sector is currently applied to the design process itself and is well defined, partially standardised and practically implemented by both independent design companies and the design departments of shipyards. The situation is similar in other sectors of engineering. However, the requirements for the digitalisation of other processes in design and engineering companies have not previously been studied, and the limited financial resources of ship design companies mean that there is a need for research on the digitalisation needs of multidisciplinary ship design companies. The implementation of building information modelling (BIM) solutions is costly for design companies and generates benefits mainly for shipyards and shipowners. The lack of benefits for design companies leads to the hesitation of managers whenever digitalisation is considered; the scope and scale of the digitalisation, as well as the selected software and BIM level, are defined by the shipyard requirements. The participation and support of management in the digitalisation process is one of the key success factors; the expected benefits caused by digitalisation for the organisation will increase the motivation of managers to invest limited resources in digitalisation. There are no data that indicate the processes with a high potential for digitalisation and the scale of expected improvements in ship design companies; therefore, research in this area was performed with a group of project managers from design and engineering companies. The research focused on collecting the opinions and experiences of the managers related to the manual management of resources and comparing the poll results with the conclusions from the enterprise resource planning (ERP) system data analyses. The paper analyses if the digital automation of the resource management process can lead to the substantial improvement of the operations of multi-project, multidisciplinary engineering ship design companies.

The article discusses the initial study of the two-seat jet trainer with high manoeuvrability. The study included the concept of structural layout of the aircraft, as well as the development of its aerodynamics. The mail aim was to ensure the correct airplane characteristics (in particular control efficiency and dynamic properties) in the wide range of angles of attack. Another challenge was to ensure adequate aerodynamic characteristics at high transonic speed range. The geometry of the aircraft has been developed using CAD system (Simens NX). Initial aerodynamic study and aerodynamic design of the plane were performed using both: the low speed wind tunnel tests performed at Warsaw University of Technology using six-component internal balance and computational work performed using ANSYS CFX computer system. The first was used mainly to check characteristics at high angles of attack. Modifications of the wind tunnel model geometry at this stage were performed using the plastic mass (plasticine), or replacing some components of the model. An important problem with such approach was the lack of a precise definition of the revised geometry in the CAD system. Computational study was performed mainly to check high-speed characteristics. The final geometry of the modified wind tunnel model generally meets the requirements.

Faced with many challenges related to product competitiveness, companies are constantly looking for new ways to solve problems and provide innovative solutions. Problems in IT projects, which are characterised by a higher degree of complexity, may be particularly difficult to solve. The Design Thinking (DT) concept can be a response to the challenges of an organization. The aim of the article is to discuss the application of the Design Thinking method in IT project management. The article examines content related to the creative approach of DT, the basics of project management and the application of Design Thinking in two IT organizations - Apple and IBM. Research methods such as literature analysis and case study will be used. Based on the conducted research, it can be concluded that the use of the Design Thinking concept in IT project management can generate many benefits for companies.
W obliczu wielu wyzwań związanych z konkurencyjnością produktów przedsiębiorstwa nieustannie poszukują nowych sposobów radzenia sobie z problemami i dostarczenia innowacyjnych rozwiązań. Problemy w projektach IT, które charakteryzują się wyższym stopniem złożoności, mogą być szczególnie trudne do rozwiązania. Koncepcja Design Thinking (DT) może być odpowiedzią na wyzwania stawiane przed organizacją. Celem artykułu jest omówienie zastosowania metody DT w zarządzaniu projektami informatycznymi. W artykule omówione zostaną treści związane z kreatywnym podejściem Design Thinking, podstawami zarządzania projektami oraz zastosowaniem Design Thinking w organizacjach IT – Apple i IBM. Zostaną wykorzystane takie metody badawcze, jak analiza literatury i studium przypadku. Na podstawie przeprowadzonych badań można stwierdzić, że zastosowanie koncepcji DT w zarządzaniu projektami IT może generować wiele korzyści dla firm.

W artykule podjęto próbę oceny barier i ograniczeń wdrożenia technologii BIM (Building Information Modeling) występujących w wybranych polskich przedsiębiorstwach realizujących projekty budowlane oraz w ich otoczeniu. Technologia ta jest postrzegana jako nowy paradygmat w dziedzinie zarządzania procesem realizacji projektu budowlanego, bywa także narzucana poprzez wymogi formalne realizacji projektów, np. w sferze zamówień publicznych, a jej wdrożenie nie zawsze jest oparte na rzeczywistych przesłankach merytorycznych. Autorzy, na podstawie badań przeprowadzonych w przedsiębiorstwach realizujących projekty budowlane, podejmują próbę klasyfikacji barier i ograniczeń we wdrażaniu BIM oraz proponują metody ich redukcji.
The article attempts to assess the barriers and limitations of the implementation of BIM (Building Information Modeling) technology occurring in selected Polish companies realising construction projects and in their environment. This technology is perceived as a new paradigm in the management of the construction project implementation process, it is also sometimes imposed by the formal requirements of project implementation, e.g. in the field of public procurement, and its implementation is not always based on actual substantive premises. The authors, on the basis of research carried out in companies implementing construction projects, attempt to classify the causes of barriers and limitations in the implementation of BIM and propose methods to reduce them.

Na koniec ocenia zalety i wady prototypowania jako metody urbanistyki. Główną jej zaletą jest fakt, że angażuje użytkowników, ale jej słabością są wysokie koszty i brak uregulowań prawnych.
The paper deals with urban prototyping as a method in contemporary urban design. It analyses from the methodological point of view the distinctive features of the town development management methods and compares prototyping to them. The results are presented in the form of the matrix. Finally, it evaluates advantages and disadvantages of prototyping as a method in town planning. Apparently, the main advantage is that it involves the users, but its cost and lack of legal regulations is a weakness.

A non-exclusive approach in conducting survey-based research which assumes the participation of people with disabilities is one of the important ethical aspects of the research process. The use of the tool, which has been designed in accordance with the universal user-oriented design, makes it possible for people with disabilities to take an active part in surveys. This means that they can present their attitudes and express opinions within the conducted surveys. The aim of the article is to present the issue of conducting surveys using an electronic questionnaire among deaf people, modelled on the Avatar PJM project. People with a hearing impairment, whose first or primary language used for communication is a sign language, should be given a questionnaire in an appropriate form enabling them to complete it easily. The discussed project presents a proposal to construct a questionnaire using the LimeSurvey software. The questionnaire has been adapted to the needs and expectations of the recipient group. The presented solution for designing a user-friendly research tool can be used in other types of research in this group of respondents (e.g. industrial or educational research) or can become an inspiration for further research in this field.

Uczelnie publiczne są organizacjami realizującymi wiele projektów badawczych, edukacyjnych oraz inwestycyjnych. Dla tworzenia dogodnych warunków oraz wspomagania skutecznej i efektywnej realizacji projektów należy rozważyć powołanie jednostki organizacyjnej, spełniającej rolę biura projektów. W artykule przedstawiono istotę takiego biura, a także cechy uczelni publicznych, które wpływają na model jego funkcjonowania. Przedstawiono również przykład funkcjonowania takiego biura w dużej publicznej uczelni technicznej.
Public universities are entities that implement several research, educational and investment projects. To create favorable conditions and to support the efficient and effective implementation of the projects you may consider setting up a departmental project management office (PMO). The article presents the essence of PMO, as well as the characteristics of public universities that affect its operational model. It also presents an operational example of PMO within a technical university.
