In the paper a new approach to research projects planning and management is proposed. It is substantially different from the traditional methods and resembles more the agile methods used in IT projects. It takes into account the much more greater dimension of uncertainty inherent to research projects as compared with other types of projects. It allows a project to be broken if the analysis shows that the benefit/cost relation does no longer justify the project continuation. The focus of the method lies on an generalized tasks description, consisting of a comprehensive list of undetermined, unknown or uncertain task attributes and task dependencies, with an explanation clarifying the nature or the cause of the lack of information/uncertainty. The description should be updated in the course of the project. The proposed approach is applied to a real world research project where a lot of changes were necessary and traditional project management methods proved to be inefficient.

Issues of IT project imlementation process in public institutionsThe article deals with the problem of IT project implementation process in polish public institutions from contractors’ (who represent business companies) point of view. In projects which are carried out together by public institutions and privately held companies, many times we have to face misunderstandings which arise due to differences between these types of institutions and different ways of managing projects. The paper is organized as follows. Introduction presents unique features of IT projects. Next, authors present public institution (as clients ordering IT solutions) and restrictions (including legal contrains) which they have to follow while implementing IT solutions. Then article presents problems and challenges of implementation process. The authors present process of IT project implementation from theoretical and practical point of view and show reasons of IT project failures and challenges of implementation process of IT projects in public institutions.

Background. A risk is inseparably related to the planning and execution of each project. A project risk is an event that may have impact on the achievement of project goals and objectives. Therefore, it is extremely important to minimize the likelihood of the occurrence and impact of potential negative events, and at the same time to take full advantage of opportunities for improvement. In other words, there is a need for project risk management.Research aims. Point out the aspects and risk management processes which are perceived to have the biggest impact on the success of a project. Indicate the risk management techniques most often used.Methodology. The search for project aspects and risk management techniques was based on scientific literature review. Exploration of actual application of risk management in private sector projects was based on surveying experts. The participants were entrepreneurs from across Poland who belonged to the Association of Project Management Poland and postgraduate.Key findings. Among the many aspects and techniques of the risk management suggestions for those which may increase the chances of achieving project success.

Social Responsibility concept applies to business, university and individuals. It is assumed that socially responsible thinking supports sustainable development through operations for the sake of stakeholders, who represent groups of interest from three kinds of environment - social, economic and ecological. Usually, there are some balance problem between integration of objectives from those three fields. They appear during project management process, exactly like during company operation processes. Due to this similarity, an idea of integrating Social Responsibility philosophy with project management appeared. The lack of literature connecting those two concepts, resulted in need of creating definition of a socially responsible project as a basis for discussion about socially responsible project approach. Firstly, authors analyzed twenty Polish and twenty English definitions of a „social responsibility” and a „project” by using Google Scholar source. Secondly, by comparing definitions of discussed issues, some new categories were identified and also, the frequency of their occurrence was measured. The research resulted in identifying common features of both definitions and, eventually, creating a definition of a „socially responsible project” - the main purpose of this publication.

Aim/purpose – The main purpose of this paper is to identify the necessity of distinguishing a particular taxonomic group termed creative projects. Is it a peculiar, distinctive type of projects, or nowadays every project can be denominated ‘creative’? The research aims at comparing the ways of understanding and defining this term in prior literature and in the opinions of practitioners involved in everyday project management and realization. Design/methodology/approach – The paper is divided into main parts corresponding to research objectives: first, the results of literature research is demonstrated briefly, and next the results of empirical research are delineated. The empirical research was conducted with mixed methods. The quantitative part conducted as CAWI was supported by Poll Everywhere platform, the qualitative investigations were supported by MAXQDA software. Findings – According to research results, there exists the inconsistency among the views of researchers, as well as practitioners. As the literature review reveals, there are various stances towards this issue: from silent assumption that the concept does not require to be defined till some analyses of the relations between routine and creative actions. Similar variety was disclosed when analyzing practitioners’ judgments. Research implications/limitations – The divergence in opinions as to the necessity of distinguishing a particular taxon of creative projects as well as the broad variety of opinions as to their specific characteristics have given rise to the call for more precise framing scientific research on creative projects. The research has numerous limitations result-ing from its scope, sampling method or sample size, however, it demonstrates the absence of coherent views and variety of arguments used. Originality/value/contribution – Apart from urging the more rigorous frames of research on creative projects, the paper indicates new avenues of investigations oriented towards determining the ways of assessing the level of project creativity. Moreover, the paper opens the further discussion on the education and training of more creative project managers, as well as on the designing creativity-supporting project environment.

Project risk management is an important aspect of project management. According to the PMBoK, risk management is one of the ten knowledge areas in which a project manager must be competent. Project risk management remains a relatively undeveloped discipline, distinct from the risk management used by operational, financial, and underwriters’ risk management. This gulf is due to several factors: risk aversion (especially public understanding and risk in social activities), confusion in the application of risk management to projects, and the additional sophistication of probability mechanics above those of accounting, finance, and engineering. The aim of the presented paper is to demonstrate how to use RIPRAN (the Czech project for risk analysis) as a main part of a feasibility study of a new product project in a manufacturing company. To fulfill this primary aim, we formulated these secondary aims: – To provide a critical analysis of the available information sources dealing with risk management in new product projects in manufacturing companies. – To study and profoundly understand RIPRAN, project risk analysis, its history, application, principles, rules, and exceptions. – To discuss with the author of RIPRAN about the RIPRAN application in new product projects in manufacturing companies of non-Czech origin. – To compile a feasibility study of the new product project. All of these highly cited secondary aims were fulfilled. A short overview of the risk management topic as well as RIPRAN’s characteristics and definition are part of the presented paper. To process this theoretical part of the paper, we used mostly analysis, synthesis, comparison, and deduction. We studied monographs, journals, and internet links with the impact of a source's topicality. The used sources are cited in the list of references. During the process of a feasibility study of a new product project provided through the analysis of our own experience, we discussed the application of the RIPRAN method to the new product project with the author of this method. We realized e-mail correspondence, phone discussions, and finally a personal meeting to control the whole RIPRAN analysis document and discuss the method’s application in the non-Czech origin business environment. To fulfill the primary aim of the presented paper, we decided to use the case study method.

The text at issue includes the following questions: the interpretation of the notion of project and various interpretations of project management, the structure of research methods, project defining, the procedure of operationisation, the characteristics of research models and controlling lists, the peculiarity of improving and base planning, stages and phases of the planning and execution process.

The implementation of a new product in serial production is a very important element in the company’s functioning. Manufacturers of cars and complex subassemblies have been working for years according to the established standards of designing and implementing new products for serial production. A great emphasis is placed here on the formal side. In addition, the supplier must prove that has sufficient resources to achieve these objectives. And this is what customers verify during system, product, process and potential audits. However, despite formal approval of parts from the supplier, as well as confirmation of design and production capabilities, defective parts or components are sometimes assembled in cars and distributed to the market. Why does this happen? The answer can often be found not in the forms, manuals or procedures, but in the way the project teams communicate and cooperate with each other and with other organizations. This is confirmed by the research results presented in this paper, which show that one of the key issues requiring improvement during production implementations is not the knowledge of specialists, problems with the machine park or plant equipment, but increasing the ability of specialists and managers to effectively communicate and cooperate. It shows how important is the problem of risk assessment related to the project team for the project within the quality planning. According to the authors, the new model of project plan should be enriched with the risk assessment related to communication in the project team, as a part of the feasibility assessment of the whole project.

Hydrogen is known as an energy carrier for almost 200 years. It deserves to be a successful business because it would improve significantly environmental and climate change future. Hydrogen as bases for a coming industry is at the horizon to be developed in many countries. As in many new businesses, the enthusiasm is so great that entrepreneurs and new startup companies doing this business without a solid project execution plan. The following article should be considered as a cookbook, as an exam- ple of a project execution plan for a hydrogen-based project execution plan (PEP) for management. This PEP should support small and medium size companies which are technically oriented and do not have the resources to develop their own PEP. A successfully implemented PEP will make the change for these companies between a successful startup and a bankruptcy. As guideline it should be tailored to the individual company in line with the business model.

Celem pracy jest wykazanie, że decydującą o sukcesie bądź porażce projektu rolę mają ludzie biorący w nim udział - w szerszym sensie jego interesariusze, a w węższym kierownik projektu i zespół projektowy. Po okresie zachwycania się wszechmocą narzędzi informatycznych jako panaceum na wszelkie kłopoty związane z inicjowaniem, planowaniem, realizacją, kontrolą i zamykaniem projektów, przyszedł czas refleksji nad rolą człowieka w tej materii. Okazuje się - zgodni w tej mierze są właściwie wszyscy praktycy PM - że za sukces bądź porażkę projektu odpowiadają ludzie - zarówno ci bezpośrednio w projekt zaangażowani, jak i ci tworzący jego środowisko (interesariusze). Decydujące role odgrywają przede wszystkim kierownik projektu, a także jego zespół. Osobowość, charakter, predyspozycje, wiedza i umiejętności kierownika projektu pozwalają mu utworzyć wartościowy zespół, a ten z kolei "tworzy" wartościowy i zgodny z wymaganiami i planem produkt projektu.
The objective of this paper is to present the main role of stakeholders in the success or failure of a project, in particular that of the Project Manager and the project team. After the period of enthusiasm with IT tools as the panacea for solving problems while initiating, planning realising, controlling and completing projects, the time has come to reflect on human importance in this issue. All PMs agree on the main influence of the human factor on the project's final result. The most significant are the Project Manager and his/her team. The PM's personality, characteristics, knowledge and know-how allow him/her to create a valuable team which in turn "creates" a project product that is valuable and conforms to the plan.

In recent years we have observed the global awareness of threats posed by unrestrained and irresponsible growth gaining ground. Hence, continuous searches for sustainable solutions which enable to put in place measures that promote global, national, and local efficiency seem to make sense.This paper aims to examine and assess the current state of affairs and proposes directions for the development of sustainable and socially responsible project-related activities. It explains how the idea of social responsibility emerged as a natural consequence of the evolution of an organisation with respect to sustainable development. Against the background of these notions we define the place and role of project management in socially responsible development and discuss different views on the subject presented by authors from different countries. Theoretical considerations are supplemented with the discussion of the findings of own surveys focused on the role and relevance of social responsibility in project management in organisations active in this field in Poland. It was an exploratory study, the first of its kind in Poland.

W dalszej kolejności przedstawiono odpowiedzialność koordynatora i partnerów podczas wspólnej realizacji projektów. Następnie opisano w skrócie przygotowanie założeń projektowych. Oprócz tego opisano najczęściej występujące problemy instytucjonalne podczas realizacji projektu, wymieniono wady i zalety konsorcjum oraz sposoby rozwiązywania konfliktów w zespole projektowym. W dalszej części opisano motywowanie pracowników w zespole projektowym. Następnie opisano ryzyko w projekcie, jego przyczyny oraz jego eliminację.
In the article there is described the specificity of projects carried out in a consortium. It is defined what is the consortium and what is a basis for it's formation. Later on it is presented a coordinator and partners responsibility during joint realization of projects. Furthermore it is briefly outlined a preparation of project assumptions. Apart from that it is described the most frequent institutional problems which occur during project realization, there are listed advantages and disadvantages of consortium and methods of solving the problems in project team. There is also described a motivation of project team members. Next it is described a project risk, its reasons and ways of its elimination.

W artykule przedstawiono zagadnienie oceny sukcesu projektów o różnym poziomie złożoności. Omówiono kryteria oceny sukcesu projektu oraz rozstrzygnięto kwestie definicyjne związane z pojęciem złożoność projektu. Zaprezentowano klasyfikację projektów z uwzględnieniem kryterium złożoności projektów. Przedstawiono wyniki badań empirycznych dotyczące oceny sukcesu w projektach o wysokiej, średniej i niskiej złożoności. Dokonana analiza wyników badań pozwala na stwierdzenie, że najwyżej oceniono sukces w projektach o niskiej złożoności, a najniżej w projektach o wysokiej złożoności.
The article describes the issue related to the success in projects of varying complexity. The project success criteria and defining of the project complexity were showed. The project classification taking into account the criterion of project complexity was presented. The results of the empirical studies in context the evaluating of the success in projects of high, medium and low complexity were showed. The analyses of the obtained results indicates that the level of success in low complexity projects was highest and in high complexity projects was lowest.

Project management is an important problem in research and management practice. In business practice, the number of economic activities of enterprises that do not have a procedural nature and are projects oriented to achieve defined goals within a specified time increases. In recent years the literature has emphasized in project management the need to take into account both dynamic and growing complexity of the environment. The problem of increasing unpredictability and non-linearity occurring in projects where standard methods and techniques cannot meet their role is significant. There is therefore a need for a different approach to project management , which is based on system thinking, which at the same time optimally combines the advantages of traditional mainstream in project management. It is important to present the essence of systems thinking in project management to changes in the environment and the limitations of traditional project management.

W artykule przedstawiono wyniki badań dotyczących identyfikacji interesariuszy, omówiono wpływ potencjalnych grupy interesariuszy na odniesienie sukcesu z podziałem na różne typy projektów oraz wyszczególniono dziesięć cech warunkujących ten wpływ, które następnie poddano ocenie.
Project planning serves not only to determine the activities which have to be performed and structured, but also to identify institutions and organizations that may have an impact on the progress of the project. The article presents the results of research on the identification of stakeholders and determines the impact of potential stakeholder groups to project’s success, including division of these groups into different types of projects. Also ten main characteristics of stakeholder’s impact on project’s advancement were analyzed and evaluated.

The article presents the scope and schedule of a project planned in accordance with project management standards. The project is a production order for a hopper tank with a double screw conveyor implemented in the production company KMC Global Europe. The division of work structure was divided into four phases, which allowed for significant improvement and facilitation of internal processes.

The paper is devoted to the problem of IT project success definition and measurement seen against the background of IT human resources management organisation. A review of the state of art of the problem shows that the assessment of IT project success is highly equivocal and subjective. Various methods may produce conflicting results. The paper proposes basically one novelty: an original approach to IT project success evaluation based on Data Development Analysis (DEA). DEA has been developed and used for years, but for other purposes. The new method, contrasted with two other which are based on other philosophies, is applied to a sample of Polish IT projects. This application shows that the new method in some cases completely changes the optics and emphasizes such aspects of IT projects which are neglected by other methods. It also shows that a combination of the proposed method with other IT project measurement methods may substantially increase the fairness of IT project team members and managers’ appraisal, and hence the motivation of human resources in IT projects.

Aim/purpose – The research aims to identify and evaluate factors impacting the implementation of an agile approach in a crowdfunding project with a goal to fund a film. Design/methodology/approach – The research was conducted in March-April 2018, and based on qualitative methods of gathering data from the Polish market. Findings – We point to the two groups of factors impacting whether or not a film team can implement the agile approach in a crowdfunding project: 1) the first group of factors refers to the iterative testing of ‘the work produced’ during the project, including testing of final film elements; 2) the second group of factors refers to team management such as team goal, team engagement and communication, and conflicts between team members. The findings indicate that a potential transition to the agile approach would require significant adjustments of the current methods of conducting film projects.

W artykule przedstawiono wyniki badań projektów IT. Celem przeprowadzonej analizy było zbadanie, jakie atrybuty charakteryzujące projekt oraz jakie elementy procesu zarządzania projektem mają wpływ na dotrzymanie planowanego terminu jego realizacji. W badaniach zastosowano aparat statystyki matematycznej (ANOVA). Skonstruowano logitowy model regresji opisujący wpływ analizowanych czynników na prawdopodobieństwo ukończenia projektu w terminie. Badaniami objęto projekty IT realizowane w Polsce.
The article presents the results of investigation of IT projects. The aim of the analysis was to indicate what attributes characterize the project and what elements of the project management process have an impact on keeping the planned project deadline. The statistical analysis (ANOVA) was performed. Logit regression model was constructed. The model describes influence of analysed factors on the probability of completing the project on time. The study involved IT projects implemented in Poland.

Artykuł dotyczy zagadnień dojrzałości projektowej i ładu projektowego. Rozważania o charakterze teoretycznym i empirycznym odniesiono do organizacji non-profit działających w Polsce. Ład projektowy w organizacjach non-profit jest zupełnie nowym obszarem badawczym. Pogłębianie badań nad tą problematyką może znacząco przyczynić się do wzrostu skuteczności realizowanych projektów. Przeprowadzona analiza skłania do stwierdzenia, że zwiększanie dojrzałości projektowej może stanowić istotne wsparcie dla tworzenia ładu projektowego w organizacjach. Tym samym wpłynąć na lepsze zrozumienie problematyki działalności projektowej, rozwój kompetencji projektowych oraz zwiększenie spójności prowadzonej działalności projektowej. Wyciągnięte wnioski bazują na wynikach badania ankietowego na próbie 93 organizacji non-profit funkcjonujących w Polsce.
The article is concerned with matters of project management maturity and project governance. Theoretical and empirical considerations are related to non-profit organizations operating in Poland. Project governance in non-profit organizations is a new research area. Deepening research into this issue can significantly contribute to the effectiveness of projects. The analysis conducted leads to the conclusion that increasing project management maturity can provide significant support for the creation of project governance. Thus, it may influence a better understanding of project activities, the development of project competences and an increase in the consistency of project activities. The conclusions drawn are based on a survey of a sample of 93 non-profit organizations operating in Poland.

Despite the Information Technology (IT) sector’s continuing growth driving massive demand for IT project practitioners, the high failure rate of IT projects has caused enormous losses for many organizations. Establishing effective and proactive practice for project risk management (PRM) is imperative. Risk exposure scoring is becoming a critical risk classifier in prioritizing items in descending order, developing plans to address the most significant factors, and leaving the rest on a “watch list”. This study analyzes responses from targeted project managers (PM) in Malaysia-Singapore to a survey. The author ranked the intrinsic risk of projects and investigated the effect of a project practitioner’s level of experience in risk assessment. The results indicated that a project practitioner’s assessments of risk depend on the number of years of experience acquired.

This paper describes the problem of Project risk management, which certainly constitutes an important aspect of project management. Project risk is defined as an uncertain event or condition whose occurrence has a positive or negative effect on a project’s objectives. Project risk management remains a relatively undeveloped discipline, distinct from the risk management applied to Operational or Financial risk management. Good Project Risk Management depends on supporting organizational factors, having clearly defined roles and responsibilities, and technical analysis. Chronologically, Project Risk Management may begin by recognizing a threat, or by examining an opportunity. Finally, risks must be integrated to provide a complete picture, so projects should be integrated into enterprise wide risk management, to seize opportunities related to the achievement of their objectives.

Successful management of an information technology (IT) project is the most desirable for all organisations and stakeholders. Many researchers elaborated that risk management is a key part of project management for any project size. Risk management is so critical because it provides project managers with a forward-looking view of both threats and opportunities to improve the project success. The objectives of this research are to explore organisational factors affecting IT project success and risk management practices influencing IT project success. Risk management practices include risk identification, risk analysis, risk response planning, and risk monitoring and control. The IT project success is measured by proces performance and product performance. Data are collected from 200 project managers, IT managers, and IT analysts in IT firms through questionnaires and analysed using Independent Sample t-test, One-way ANOVA, and Multiple Linear Regression at the statistical significance level of 0.05. The results show that the differences in organisational types affect IT project success in all aspects, while the differences on organisational sizes affect IT project success in the aspect of product performance and total aspects. Risk identification and risk response planning influence the process performance and the total aspects of IT project success. Risk identification has the highest positive influence on product performance, followed closely by risk response, while risk analysis negatively influences product performance.

Wstęp i cel: W obecnych czasach zarządzanie projektami jest nieodłącznym elementem profesjonalnego działania oraz skutecznego rozwoju wielu przedsiębiorstw udzielających się na rynku lokalnym, jak i globalnym. Zarządzanie projektami jest bardzo popularne a wręcz niezbędne podczas budowy systemów informatycznych lub sieci komputerowych. Niniejszy artykuł prezentuje harmonogramowanie jako element systemu zarządzania podczas instalacji sieci informatycznej. Obejmuje planowanie, terminarz, przydzielanie zasobów do określonych zadań, ocenę ryzyka oraz szacowanie budżetu. Materiał i metody: W artykule zostały omówione pojęcia i terminy związane z harmonogramowaniem. Do wyjaśnienia problemu została użyta aplikacja Microsoft Project 2010. Program jest prosty i przejrzysty w obsłudze. Zawiera wszystkie narzędzia i składniki niezbędne do stworzenia prawidłowego harmonogramu. Wyniki: W przykładzie podanym w projekcie obliczono czas trwania budowy sieci komputerowej i jego koszt. W koszcie zostały uwzględnione płace pracowników i zakup materiałów. Ścieżka krytyczna omawianego projektu nie możne mieć wiele opóźnień, ponieważ będzie to skutkowało opóźnieniem całego projektu. Niezwykle przydatna okazuje się funkcja ścieżki krytycznej oraz wykres Gantta. Wniosek: Program Microsoft Project 2010 idealnie nadaje się do tworzenia harmonogramu projektu z uwzględnieniem budżetu, zasobów oraz terminarza. Przedstawia graficznie problemy zaistniałe w przedsięwzięciu co znacznie ułatwia ich odnalezienie i późniejszą korekcję.
Introduction and aim: In modern times, project management is an inseparable element of professional activity and effective development of many enterprises operating on global and local markets. Project management is enormously popular and even necessary during creation of IT systems or computer networks. This article presents scheduling as an element of management system during installation of IT Network. It includes planning, timetable, assignment of resources to specific tasks, evaluation of risks and assessment of budget. Material and methods: The article discusses concepts and terms related with scheduling. Microsoft Project 2010 software has been used to tackle this issue. The software is simple and easy to use. It contains all tools and components necessary in creating a correct schedule. Results: In the example given in the project calculated the duration of the construction of the network and its cost. The cost included wages of employees and the purchase of materials. The critical path of the project can not subsequently have a lot of delays, as this will result in a delay of the project. Extremely useful function turns out to be the critical path and Gantt chart. Conclusion: Microsoft Project 2010 is ideal for creating a project schedule with regard to the budget, resources and schedule. Graphically illustrates the problems occurring in the project making it much easier to find them and the subsequent correction.

Realizacja projektu pociąga za sobą konieczność zidentyfikowania osób, organizacji lub instytucji, które mogą mieć jakiś wpływ na realność przedsięwzięcia. Kierownik projektu przystępując do powierzonego mu zadania musi zidentyfikować te osoby i ich relację do projektu, gdyż w przeciwnym wypadku może okazać się, iż działania interesariuszy spowodowały zjawiska niepożądane w projekcie lub też zaprzepaścił jakąś szansę. W artykule wskazane zostały podstawowe grupy interesariuszy projektu oraz zaprezentowane zostały przykłady macierzy odpowiedzialności, jako narzędzia wspierającego identyfikowane oraz komunikowanie się z interesariuszami projektu.
The consequences of starting of the project always is need of show who is a stakeholders – some organisation, some persons or companies. Project manager oath to identify all of this, because in effect his project can failed. In paper presents general groups of stakeholders and RAM diagram as a tool to managing of stakeholders and his relations to project.

The subject of project managers' competencies was very popular in scientific research over the past decades. A great number of academic researchers studied the field of project manager's competencies, its impact on project success and correlation to project performance and key characteristics of a project environment. The aim of this literature study was to analyze methodological aspects of aforementioned studies in order to identify research patterns applied, research instruments used, respondents' profiles and others. It's understandable that publications related to competencies of project managers can be found in leading project management journals. These articles constituted also a basis of the analysis. Furthermore, publications considered were narrowed to those focused on at least one of three appointed aspects, namely identification of competencies, their evaluation or relative importance assessment. Over a dozen of articles were obtained as the outcome of journals review. Key characteristics of selected studies were systematically analyzed and compared, including, among others, construction of the respondents group, examined subset of competencies and the approach adopted to identification and evaluation of competencies. As a result some patterns and repeatable elements were found. Moreover, two identified contentious practices were discussed - usage of a self-assessment to evaluate performance of respondent and usage of project success criteria aimed at assessing the performance of a project manager.

In this paper the resource - constrained scheduling problem is discussed. The objective function is minimization of makespan under constrained resources and due time. The metaheuristic based on Ant Colony Optimization (ACO) is proposed for multi-project scheduling. The elaborated method, algorithm and example illustrating ACO application for the multi-project scheduling problem is presented.

The objective of this article is to show that project management practices present key success factors for implemented a Quality Management System (QMS) in Moroccan companies. In general, the organizations seem to look at the implementation of a quality management system as a project and they employ standard project management tools, albeit to a different extent and in different ways. Following a qualitative study in Morocco, the companies, whatever their sector of activity and size, use different practices in the framework of the project QMS. Information was collected from practicing managers. The data analysis shows that project management practices present a great opportunity for the successful implementation of QMS within Moroccan companies.

Jednym z potencjalnych czynników sukcesu projektów realizowanych we współpracy międzyorganizacyjnej, zidentyfikowanych przez autorów, jest zbieżność metodyk i standardów zarządzania projektami stosowanych przez współpracujące strony. Artykuł ma charakter koncepcyjny a jego celem jest prezentacja koncepcji badań empirycznych, dotyczących wpływu zbieżności wykorzystywanych metodyk na sukces projektu. Przegląd literatury pozwala na sformułowanie hipotezy badawczej, wskazującej, że zbieżność stosowanych przez partnerów projektu metodyk i standardów zarządzania projektami jest istotnym czynnikiem powodzenia wspólnego projektu. Sformułowana hipoteza badawcza będzie testowana w badaniach ankietowych w sektorze IT (n = 320).
One of the success factors of projects implemented in inter-organizational cooperation identified by the Authors is the concurrence of standards and methodologies of project management used by project partners. The purpose of this conceptual paper is to present the concept of empirical research on the impact of the concurrence of PM standards and methodologies used on the success of the cooperative project. The literature review allows us to formulate a research hypothesis that the concurrence of PM standards and methodologies used by the project partners is an essential factor in the success of a joint project. The formulated research hypothesis will be tested in surveys within the IT sector (n = 320).

W artykule zostały przedstawione wybrane problemy dotyczące analizy roli kierownika projektu informatycznego. Celem artykułu jest identyfikacja zbioru wymagań, jakie należy stawiać kierownikowi projektu informatycznego. Wychodzi się tu z założenia, iż kierownik tego typu projektu jest zarówno menedżerem, jak i twórcą, który realizuje unikalne przedsięwzięcie – projekt informatyczny. Wymagania zostały określone na podstawie analizy literatury przedmiotu, jak i prowadzonych własnych badań w trakcie realizacji dużych projektów informatycznych oraz badań opinii słuchaczy studiów podyplomowych, w tym studiów MBA. Przedstawiono również propozycje badań przyszłościowych.
Article presents selected problems related to an analysis of the IT project manager’s role. Goal of the article is to identify a set of requirements that should be addressed to a potential IT project manager. It has been assumed that a project manager of IT projects should be a manager and a creator who delivers a unique work, which is the IT project. Requirements have been based on the literature analysis, own research in big enterprises and the opinion of postgraduates and MBA students. Additionally the article presents a proposal of future research.

Zarządzanie projektami jest już obszerną i niezależną dziedziną nauki o zarządzaniu. Wiedza z tego zakresu jest rozpowszechniana nie tylko przez uczelnie wyższe, lecz również, a w zasadzie można by powiedzieć, że głównie przez stowarzyszenia zrzeszające praktyków i teoretyków zarządzania projektami takie jak IPMA czy Project Management Institute. Organizacje te prezentują różne podejścia do zarządzania projektami. Obecnie wiele firm zmaga się z dylematem, które podejście do zarządzania projektami stosować. Tradycyjne, dobrze znane przez większość praktyków zarządzania, czy zwinne, młodsze podejście. W referacie przedstawione zostało w jaki sposób popularne metodyki zarządzania projektami definiują projekt oraz jego cykl życia. Zostało to skonfrontowane z charakterystyką projektu górniczego co jednocześnie wskazuje, które z metodyk mają potencjał do zastosowania w górnictwie.
Project management is already an extensive and independent field of management. Knowledge in this field is shared not only by universities, but also, and in principle it could be said that mainly by associations of practitioners and theoreticians of project management such as IPMA or Project Management Institute. These organizations present different approaches to project management. Today, many companies face a dilemma about which approach to project management to apply. Traditional, well-known by most management practitioners, or agile, younger approach. The paper presents how popular project management methodologies define a project and its life cycle. This has been confronted with the characteristics of the mining project, which at the same time indicates which of the methodologies have the potential to be used in mining.

The aim of this paper is to present a modelling heuristic framework that enables one to cope with a problem of a project-driven manufacturing. The objective is to find computationally effective method aimed at scheduling of a new project subject to constraints imposed by a multi-project environment. The application of a heuristic method of scheduling is demonstrated on one example of a makespan-feasible schedule that follows the constraints imposed by the precedence relation and by the time-constrained resources availability. This heuristic method is based on concept of critical path and branch and bound scheme.

The article presents a theoretical and empirical investigation into the problems of estimating activity durations in projects. Uncertainty, the uniqueness of projects as well as their complexity make the process of estimation particularly difficult, but still crucial for successful project planning and implementation. As part of the literature analysis, the main techniques for project tasks estimating were presented. Classification was carried out and possible ways of their use were shown. The purpose of the research was to explore the actual use of the estimation methods and practices, to analyze their effectiveness and to identify obstacles in the process of activity time estimation. A survey was conducted on 40 project management specialists. The group of respondents was diverse in terms of company size, type and profile of implemented projects, importance of projects for the organization’s activities, as well as knowledge and experience in project management.
Artykuł przedstawia teoretyczne podstawy szacowania czasu trwania zadań w projektach. Zagadnienie to charakteryzuje duża niepewność związana z dynamiką współczesnych procesów biznesowych i z niepowtarzalnością przedsięwzięć projektowych. W ramach analizy literaturowej przedstawiono główne techniki szacowania czasu trwania zadań w projektach. Przeprowadzono ich klasyfikację, a także zaprezentowano sposoby ich wykorzystania. Cele artykułu stanowiły poznanie najczęściej stosowanych sposobów i praktyk estymacji czasu trwania zadań w projektach, analiza ich skuteczności, a także wskazanie przeszkód utrudniających rzetelne szacowanie. Przeprowadzono badanie ankietowe na 80 respondentach. Grupa respondentów była zróżnicowana pod względem wielkości firmy, rodzaju i profilu realizowanych projektów, znaczenia projektów dla działalności organizacji, a także wiedzy i doświadczenia w zarządzaniu projektami.

W artykule podsumowano klasyczne metody planowania projektów. Pokazano ich niedostosowanie do projektów badawczych i uzasadniono, że projekty badawcze powinny być planowane w inny sposób niż pozostałe projekty. Dokonano przeglądu metod znanych z literatury, które są dedykowane projektom badawczym, a także metod dedykowanych innym typom projektów obarczonych wysokim stopniem niepewności i zmienności - wskazując na możliwość dostosowania tych ostatnich do projektów badawczych. Zarysowano dalsze kierunki badań pozwalających na opracowanie metod planowania projektów badawczych dostosowanych do ich specyfiki. Zwrócono uwagę na fakt istnienia różnych typów projektów badawczych, przy czym każdy z tych typów może potencjalnie wymagać innej metody planowania. Nawiązano do wymogów stawianych planom projektów badawczych finansowanych przez takie instytucje, jak Komisja Europejska, NCBiR czy NCN i wskazano na potrzebę zmiany tych wymogów, aby zoptymalizować wydatkowanie środków przeznaczonych na badania.
Classic project planning methods are summed up. It is shown that they are not suited for research projects and it is justified that a research project should be planned in a different way from the other ones. A review of methods from the literature is conducted - of the methods dedicated to research projects, but also of the methods dedicated to other types of projects biased by a high uncertainty and changeability degree. It is indicated how the latter might be applied to research projects. Further research directions are shown, which will allow one to work out planning methods for research projects adapted to their specificity. Attention is drawn to the fact that various types of research projects exist, while each type may potentially require a different planning method. The requirements set to research project plans by such institutions as the European Commission, the National Centre of Research and Development and the National Centre of Science are mentioned, and it is pointed out that these requirements should be changed in order to optimise the expenditure of financial resources earmarked for research.

W artykule ukazano kierunki rozwoju zarządzania projektami w świetle badań zagranicznych i krajowych oraz zwrócono uwagę na znaczenie dojrzałości projektowej organizacji, chociażby dla powtarzalnego osiągania takiego samego poziomu sukcesu w kolejnych projektach. Przedstawiono studia przypadków stosowania zwinnego zarządzania projektami w dużych korporacjach oraz wskazano na konieczność bardziej świadomego – czyli powiązanego ze strategią – pojmowania roli zarządzania projektami w organizacjach.
The article presents project management development trends in the light of foreign and national research and draws attention to importance of the organization’s project maturity if only for repeatable achievement of the same level of success in consecutive projects. Furthermore, case studies of the use of agile management in big corporations are presented along with the need to apply a more conscious – i.e. connected with strategy – understanding of the role of project management in organizations.

Pomyślne zrealizowanie danego projektu pozwoliło firmie pozyskać nowych klientów i umocnić swoją pozycję wśród konkurentów.
The article presents the implementation of a project for the introduction of a new styrofoam model (EPS 100 Hydro) on the market, based on Przedsiębiorstwo Surowców Skalnych "BAZALT-GRACZE" Sp. z o.o. GRA-STYR Styrofoam production plant. On the basis of data from the company, the cost and time of project implementation were determined and the project card was presented. Successful implementation of a given project allowed the company to gain new clients and strengthen its position among competitors.

Maintaining wellbeing and independence by elderly people results from implementing the rules of “successful aging” , based on activity and participation in professional and social life, as well promotion of healthy lifestyle. Increasingly greater importance is attributed to frailty syndrome among patients of old age. These patients are characterized by increased sensitivity to stimuli, impaired ability to cope with inner and environmental stressinducing factors, and they also have limited ability to maintain the state of physiological and psychosocial homeostasis. In such cases it is necessary to provide the patients with integrated care based on the support of the environment and the latest technology. Providing the residents of Lower Silesian Province with high quality of life, adjusting social services to residents’ needs, and social integration alone are compliant with The Strategy of Social Integration in Lower Silesia. For that reason, supporting such patients with technology in Lower Silesia was started with the CareWell and WRP® pilot projects. The use of the latest technologies requires a social campaign, media-distributed information, and awakening social interest or even a trend related to their use. It will allow the refining of new services, reduce costs and improve safety for people. Instead of costly specialist care, elderly patients will receive individualized care located within the environment, which will be less costly but more intensive. The FOCUS project deals with reducing the frailty syndrome load in the population of elderly Founpeople in Europe, taking note of enhancing the environmental support. The purpose of the SUNFRAIL project is to improve the identification, prevention and management of frailty, and care of multimorbidity by regional centers and institutions in EU countries of people aged 65 years and over living in the local community.
Zachowania dobrostanu i samodzielności przez osoby starsze wynika z wdrażania zasad „dobrego starzenia się” opartego na aktywności i uczestnictwie w życiu zawodowym i społecznym oraz promocji zdrowego stylu życia. Coraz większe znaczenie przypisuje się rozpowszechnieniu zespołu słabości wśród pacjentów w wieku podeszłym. Pacjenci ci charakteryzują się zwiększoną wrażliwością na bodźce, upośledzoną zdolnością do radzenia sobie z wewnętrznymi i środowiskowymi czynnikami stresogennymi, a także posiadają ograniczoną zdolność do utrzymania stanu fizjologicznej i psychospołecznej homeostazy W takich przypadkach konieczne jest wsparcie pacjentów opieką zintegrowaną polegającą na wsparciu środowiska oraz najnowszej technologii. Zapewnienie mieszkańcom województwa dolnośląskiego wysokiej jakości życia, dopasowanie usług społecznych do potrzeb mieszkańców oraz sama integracja społeczna są zgodne ze Strategia Integracji Społecznej na Dolnym Śląsku. Dlatego też, na Dolnym Śląsku wsparcie takich pacjentów technologią, zostało zapoczątkowane pilotażem projektu CareWell i WRP®. Zastosowanie nowych technologii wymaga kampanii społecznej, informacji w mediach i wzbudzenia społecznego zaciekawienia, wręcz mody na ich stosowanie. Pozwoli to na doskonalenie nowych usług, obniżenie kosztów i poprawę bezpieczeństwa ludzi. W miejsce kosztownej opieki specjalistycznej pacjenci w wieku podeszłym uzyskują opiekę indywidualizowaną, lokowaną w środowisku, mniej kosztowną lecz bardziej intensywną. Projekt FOCUS zajmuje się zmniejszeniem obciążenia zespołem słabości w populacji osób w wieku podeszłym w Europie z uwzględnieniem wzmocnienia wsparcia środowiskowego. Celem projektu SUNFRAIL jest poprawa identyfikacji, zapobiegania i zarządzanie zespołem słabości oraz opieką nad wielochorobowością wśród osób po 65 roku życia mieszkających w społeczności lokalnej przez regionalne ośrodki i instytucje krajów UE.

Despite the exploration of the research thread on cultural aspects in the project, it is possible to notice the existence of an unfilled research and cognitive gap related to the risk culture in the project. The article was dedicated to presenting the phenomenon of risk culture in the project as a phenomenon present in every undertaking. First, the genesis of the concept is presented and then the author’s definition of risk culture in the project is proposed. The specificity of the impact and determinants of the risk culture in the project are described.
Pomimo eksploracji wątku badawczego dotyczącego aspektów kulturowych w projekcie, zauważyć można istnienie niewypełnionej dotąd luki badawczo-poznawczej związanej z kulturą ryzyka w projekcie. Artykuł dedykowano przedstawieniu fenomenu, jakim jest kultura ryzyka w projekcie jako zjawiska obecnego w każdym podejmowanym przedsięwzięciu. Przedstawiono genezę pojęcia, by następnie zaproponować autorską definicję kultury ryzyka w projekcie. Opisano specyfikę oddziaływania oraz uwarunkowania kultury ryzyka w projekcie.

The paper aims to present an application of constraint programming techniques for project portfolio scheduling taking into account the imprecision in activity duration and cost. Data specification in the form of discrete a-cuts allows combining distinct and imprecise data, and implementing a constraint satisfaction problem with the use of constraint programming. Moreover using a-cuts, optimistic, pessimistic, and several intermediate scenarios concerning the project scheduling and cash flows can be obtained and considered in terms of different risk levels.

This paper deals with PM training efficient and profitable for all stakeholders. The inspiration to write it was the author’s rich experience as a trainer and an IPMA Project Excellence Award Assessor. There are three reasons for writing the paper: to encourage managers to better prepare such training (formulation of needs and expectations by them), to indicate the main points of content and the method of training for inexperienced trainers and to promote the PE Award. The methodology used consisted in observation, interviewing and inquiring. Basic results are: showing managers the weight of needs and expectations formulation, the content and methods of training and PE Award promotion. Conclusions – training more profitable for companies and interesting for participants and trainers. The PE Award is more recognized worldwide.
Praca dotyczy szkoleń z zarządzania projektami, skutecznych i użytecznych dla przedsiębiorstw, instytucji i organizacji. Inspiracją do jej napisania było bogate doświadczenie Autora jako trenera PM oraz asesora konkursu INTERNATIONAL PROJECT MANAGEMENT ASSOCIATION Project Excellence Award. Są trzy powody uzasadniające napisanie tego artykułu. Zachęcenie menedżerów do lepszego przygotowania szkoleń z zakresu PM (sformułowania potrzeb i oczekiwań), podpowiedzenie niedoświadczonym trenerom głównych treści i metod szkolenia oraz promowanie idei PE Award. Zastosowana metodyka polegała na obserwacji, wywiadzie i ankietyzacji. Zasadniczymi wynikami są: ukazanie menedżerom wagi właściwego formułowania potrzeb i oczekiwań, treści i metody szkoleń oraz promocja dobrych praktyk w postaci PE Award. Wnioski – szkolenia z PM są korzystne dla przedsiębiorstw/organizacji i ciekawsze dla uczestników oraz trenerów. Ponadto, konkurs PE Award jeszcze bardziej rozpoznawalny w świecie.

The large variability of internal and external factors is a serious problem hampering production management. To meet the standards and at the same time ensure the viability of production it is necessary to quickly respond to problems that arise during production processes, and to adequately correct plans. Measures taken in the management of madetoorder production are frequently single and unique, and therefore resemble the features of project management. The paper discusses the project management method derived from the theory of constraints – CCPM. The paper describes an original algorithm for CCPM implementation and presents the results of success CCPM implementation in a company from the Wielkopolska region. The implementation of CCPM resulted in improved timeliness of order delivery, improved communication and standardization of processes related to order delivery.

Higher education must respond to dynamically changing job market needs and this has become the third mission of higher education institutions. Traditional methods of sharing knowledge and developing students’ skills are not satisfactory. For this reason, it is necessary to seek teaching alternatives, such as PBL (Problem-Based Learning) and PjBL (Project-Based Learning). This paper presents the idea of applying the above-mentioned methods to the BA in Linguistics for Business at the University of Lodz, an innovative and interdisciplinary BA programme combining linguistics with management. The participants combine skills and knowledge gained throughout their studies, i.e. linguistics, intercultural communication, accounting and finance, or selected aspects of running a business. Moreover, creating group BA projects reflects real-life situations students may encounter in the workplace.

Celem pracy jest omówienie kierunków zmian wykorzystania nowoczesnych narzędzi wspomagających zarządzanie projektami w przedsiębiorstwach o charakterze międzynarodowym. Pokazano aktualne praktyki dotyczące ich wykorzystania oraz omówiono szanse i zagrożenia, jakie im towarzyszą. W prezentowanej pracy zastosowano metodę studium przypadku uzupełnioną o przegląd literatury uwzględniający możliwości wykorzystania narzędzia Enterprise Project Management przez wybrane przedsiębiorstwa. Analizie poddano projekt wdrożenia narzędzia informatycznego do wspomagania procesów zarządzania projektami w przedsiębiorstwie międzynarodowym. Omówiono jego zalety oraz wady w stosunku do tradycyjnych sposobów zarządzania. Wskazano szanse i zagrożenia dla rozwoju przedsiębiorstw wynikające z zastosowania nowoczesnych narzędzi informatycznych. Zaprezentowane wyniki badań mogą stanowić wsparcie dla decydentów odpowiedzialnych za rozwój i wdrażanie nowych systemów informatycznych w przedsiębiorstwie. Wnioski zawarte w pracy mogą ułatwiać podjęcie trafnej decyzji w zakresie skutecznego wykorzystania narzędzi informatycznych wspomagających zarządzanie projektami.
The paper presents the results of research on implementation of the Enterprise Project Management system tools for project management designed to streamline the process of work planning and resource management in foreign subsidiaries. Advantages and disadvantages of this type of solutions were discussed in comparison to traditional methods of management. The author also shows opportunities and threats for the development of enterprises resulting from the use of modern information technology products which support project management. Finally, psychological factors were presented which may cause employees’ concerns in international subsidiaries and may constitute an obstacle for the implementation of Enterprise Project Management systems.

To start doing anything a man should have an impulse. The author’s motivation to investigate the issue of "Risk Management Procedure in Hi Tech Project Management" derives from the commercial world of managing hi-tech projects. Such an impulse in the entrepreneurial world is called an entrepreneurial intention (B. Bird 1988). The 21stcentury technology is characterised by development and implementation of sophisticated products, which are subjected tovarious risks and incredible market competitiveness. The management of conventional and traditional projects hasobjective difficulties to cover all management components dictated by risks and the competitive market. The paper’s aimis to deal with the question of “whether risk factors receive enough attention by management?” and recommendexpanding the awareness among all the management and use risk management which will help with improving the abilityto cope with the management difficulties. Based on the author questionnaire results it was found that risk management should be part of project management, which fully meets the PMs’ expectations and has been found to meet the hypothesis assumptions.

Przedstawiona w artykule analiza jest częścią badań dotyczących kultury profesjonalnej architektów. Są to badania jakościowe prowadzone w nurcie teorii ugruntowanej. W pierwszej części artykułu opisano metodologię badań, w której przypadku głównym narzędziem badawczym był wywiad swobodny mało ukierunkowany. W drugiej części przytoczono wypowiedzi architektów opisujące określenie „projekt” i „projekt zakończony sukcesem” oraz dokonano krótkiego przeglądu literatury dotyczącej tych dwóch zagadnień. Przedstawiony fragment badania dowodzi, że projekt zakończony w zaplanowanym czasie, zrealizowany w zamierzonym budżecie i przy spełnieniu założonych wymagań niekoniecznie jest dla architektów równoznaczny z projektem zakończonym sukcesem. W końcowej części artykułu na podstawie wypowiedzi badanych i wybranego modelu teoretycznego zaproponowano nowy obraz sukcesu projektu, uwzględniający oddziaływanie projektu na interesariuszy, klienta i architekta.
This paper is a part of research on the professional culture of architects. These are qualitative research based on the grounded theory. In the first part, the article describes the research methodology, where the main research tool was a unstructured interview. The second part presents the architects‘ perception of the term project and successful project and a brief review of the literature on these two issues. This research part presented shows that project completed on the scheduled time, on the intended budget and fullfilling the set requirements is not necessarily successful, according to the architects. In the final part of the article, on the basis of statements examined and the theoretical model proposed, a new picture of the project success was suggested, taking into account the impact of the project stakeholders, the client and the architect.

The article discusses issues related to project value and factors affecting the creation of project value. Based on in-depth literature analysis, approaches to defining project value and project value management are presented. The results of empirical research based on the developed methodology and selected research instruments used in the study of 80 organizations were presented. The analysis of research results leads to the conclusion that the value of the project is influenced by a lot of internal and external determinants. A diagnosis of the level of determinants in the organization allows project managers to correctly and gradually plan the value of the project and to efficiently and effectively implement individual phases of project value management, as well as make decisions regarding raising this value in the future.
W artykule omówiono zagadnienia związane z wartością projektu oraz z czynnikami wpływającymi na tworzenie wartości projektu. Na podstawie pogłębionej analizy literatury przedstawiono podejścia do definiowania wartości projektu oraz zarządzania wartością projektu. Zaprezentowano wyniki badań empirycznych przeprowadzonych na podstawie opracowanej metodyki oraz dobranych instrumentów badawczych wykorzystanych w badaniu 80 organizacji. Analiza wyników badań prowadzi do stwierdzenia, że na wartość projektu ma wpływ bardzo wiele determinant wewnętrznych i zewnętrznych. Diagnoza poziomu występujących determinant w organizacji pozwala kierownikom projektu prawidłowo i rzetelnie zaplanować wartość projektu oraz sprawnie i efektywnie realizować poszczególne fazy zarządzania wartością projektu, a także podejmować decyzje w zakresie podnoszenia tej wartości w przyszłości.

W referacie przedstawiono projekt elektropneumatycznego manipulatora równoległego o trzech stopniach swobody typu DELTA z pneumatycznymi aktuatorami mięśniowymi. Przedstawiono elementy składowe i konstrukcyjne, układ sterujący oraz wyniki prac projektowych.
In the paper a design of electro-pneumatic parallel 3-DOF manipulator type of DELTA with pneumatic muscle actuator are presented.The solid model, construction, control system and design work are performed. Positioning control of pneumatic bi-muscular driving system was designed and constructed by means of xPC Target software of Matlab-Simulink package for rapid prototyping and hardware-in-the-loop simulation.

Purpose: The main research objective entails identification of the project excellence manifestations in project-immature organizations as well as delineation of the areas of excellence positively affecting the PMMM-model-accordant organizational project maturity. Design/methodology/approach: To achieve the research objective, the methods of bibliometric analysis and literature review, as well as an opinion survey, statistical analysis and LOGIT modeling, were used in the theoretical and the empirical dimensions respectively. The study covered a group of large organizations registered in Poland, which were assessed with respect to their levels of project maturity and excellence. The statistical analysis carried out allowed a delineation of the excellence areas positively impacting project maturity in organizations at low stages of project maturity. Findings: The vast majority of the examined group of large organizations is characterized by low levels of project maturity and excellence. The entities surveyed meet the excellence criterion mainly in the areas of process integration and culture. Statistically, the area of excellence supporting organizational project maturity is informal project management. Areas of project excellence, which, if properly managed, will positively affect the level of organizational project maturity have been identified. Research limitations/implications: The use of non-probabilistic sampling is a research limitation restraining the conclusions formulated to the surveyed group of 48 large organizations. The study carried out can serve as an inducement of extended empirical investigations. Future research should be focused on the search for the factors supporting and hindering the achievement of higher levels of project maturity, in order to formulate assumptions regarding a strategy enabling organizations’ transition to higher levels of project maturity. Practical implications: The research results indicate important interdependencies between the stages of project maturity and the areas of excellence. These interdependencies call the attention of business and project-management practitioners to the prospect of achieving higher levels of organizational project maturity through targeted management of the key, from the positive¬impact perspective, areas of project excellence. Recognition of these mechanisms should encourage businesses to take deliberate steps aimed at improvement of organizational project management. Originality/value: The article fills an important cognitive gap by indicating that management activities focused on the project excellence areas identified in the paper can positively impact the levels of project maturity. The results can be of significance for both the researchers exploring for the factors supporting the achievement of higher project-maturity levels as well as the practitioners, i.e., organizations keen on methodical improvement of project maturity levels.

Opis:
The specific nature of project management causes that the selection of the right people to join the project team has become crucial to the success of any project. The present study aims at showing the role of a well-chosen project team in the project management regardless of whether the project is run according to traditional or agile methodologies. Special attention has been paid to the decision making process in project team with the use of traditional and agile methodologies. In case of traditional, classical methodologies, more efficient are teams of highly qualified specialists, which are able to make decisions, more often individual ones, as quickly as possible and precisely. Given the fact that in agile methodologies there is greater decisiveness of the team, group decisions are made more often. Management’s confidence in project team is of vital importance in agile methodologies. In order to fulfill the aim of the study, traditional and agile methodologies for project management have been briefly characterized, the process of project team building and the results of scientific research pointing to significant role of the project team in project management have been presented. It has been stressed out that, regardless of the chosen methodology, while selecting project team members it is important to consider not only members’ knowledge or experience, but also relevant personality traits and interpersonal skills (social skills). However, it should be pointed out that given the specific nature of the agile methodologies, social skills of team members become incredibly important, and in many cases more important than professional competences.

Jednym z takich sposobów może być zastosowanie metody łańcucha krytycznego, która umożliwia skuteczniejsze realizowanie projektów w środowisku wieloprojektowym, dzięki wprowadzonym buforom czasu i werbla. Metodę tą zaimplementowano w jednym z opolskich przedsiębiorstw, które realizuje zlecenia produkcyjno-usługowe w zakresie kompleksowego projektowania i wdrażania automatyki przemysłowej oraz wykonywania skomplikowanych instalacji elektrycznych dla różnego rodzaju budynków przemysłowych. Dzięki wdrożonej metodzie łańcucha krytycznego przedsiębiorstwo uzyskało znaczące korzyści finansowe i organizacyjne.
The manufacturing enterprises increasingly realize many orders (projects) at the same time in order to maintain their position in the global market. Project portfolio management is a complex activity and requires to adopt an innovative approach to managing business. One such method is the critical chain project management (CCPM), which allows for more efficient projects execution in a multi-project environment by introducing time and drum buffers. This method has been implemented in one of the companies in Opole Voivodeship, which performs production and service orders for complex design and implementation of industrial automation and execution of complex electrical installations for various types of industrial buildings. The implementation of the critical chain method has allowed the enterprise significant financial and organizational benefits.

W artykule zaprezentowano propozycję podejścia do zarządzania partnerskim projektem współfinansowanym z funduszy strukturalnych UE w sektorze publicznym. Zarządzanie projektami stanowi ważny, wieloaspektowy obszar badań naukowych i praktyki zarządzania we współczesnych organizacjach. Jednostki samorządu terytorialnego pozyskują środki z funduszy UE na realizację zadań, korzystając z adresowanych do nich projektów [Trocki, 2012] w tym projektów partnerskich. Idea partnerstwa projektowego jest stosunkowo nową formą współpracy zorganizowanych podmiotów, które angażują się wspólnie w realizację konkretnych przedsięwzięć organizacyjnych w formule projektowej. Niestety, jak do tej pory partnerstwo projektowe nie zostało szeroko opisane w literaturze. Artykuł ma na celu ukazanie specyfiki zarządzania projektem partnerskim współfinansowanym ze środków Unii Europejskiej w ramach POKL 2007–2013 oraz ukazanie korzyści, jakie niesie ze sobą współpraca jednostki samorządu terytorialnego z organizacjami pozarządowymi. Prezentuje formy i fazy współdziałania osób oraz podmiotów w procesie zarządzania partnerskim projektem. Zaprezentowano w nim studium przypadku dla projektu partnerskiego pt. „Akademia organizacji pozarządowych” wdrażanego w partnerstwie jednostki samorządu terytorialnego i organizacji pozarządowych.
This article presents a proposal for an approach to the management of a partner project co-financed with the EU structural funds in the public sector. The project management constitutes both a multifaceted area of researches and traineeship of the management of contemporary organizations are affecting. You can hardly find any information describing or examining this issue. This article aims to show the specifics of the project management partnership co-financed by European Union within the Human Capital Operational Programme 2007–2013, and to present the benefits offered by the co-operation of local government units and NGOs. The article presents forms and phases of interactions of people and entities in the process of managing a partner project co-financed with the outside funds. It presented the case of the partner project named “The Academy of Non-Governmental Organisations” implemented in the partnership of a local government unit and NGOs.

The main purpose of the paper is to examine, on the basis of empirical research, the perceived manner of project management in organizations, as well as to determine the frequency of application of selected project management methodologies, in addition to the assessment of their usefulness for project risk management. The first part of the paper presents - identified on the basis of literature studies - types and examples of project management methodologies along with basic assumptions of the project risk management process, and in the second part - the results of empirical research conducted by recourse to a questionnaire among the participants of projects implemented in various types of organizations. The study showed that in organizations employing respondents, the methodical manner of project management is most often used, while the most popular project management methodologies were PMBoK, Agile and PRINCE2, wherein respondents highly rated the usefulness of selected methodologies for effective project risk management.

The present article was devoted to the issue of the project management in the construction sector in order to reduce the business risk. The study is based on literature examinations with an own methodological solution for project management in the construction industry. After introducing a set of definitions of the project and describing the concept of project management, a characterization of the project management in the construction industry and its effects in the economic space were described.

Kluczowym czynnikiem sukcesu projektu są kompetencje kierownika, gdyż od jego wiedzy, umiejętności i doświadczenia zależy w dużej mierze skuteczne i efektywne realizowanie działań projektowych. W literaturze jest dostępnych wiele badań na temat czynników sukcesu i porażki projektu. Jednocześnie stowarzyszenia zajmujące się zarządzaniem projektami, takie jak: Project Management Institute (PMI) czy International Project Management Association (IPMA), opracowały ramowe wytyczne kompetencji kierownika projektu, które umożliwiają ocenę jego wiedzy i umiejętności. Brakuje jednak badań dotyczących wpływu poszczególnych kompetencji na sukces projektu, szczególnie w polskich przedsiębiorstwach. W związku z tym w artykule przedstawiono wyniki badań ankietowych, które zostały przeprowadzone w celu ustalenia, jaki jest wpływ kompetencji kierownika projektu na sukces projektu w polskich przedsiębiorstwach. Badania zrealizowano w formie ankiety internetowej. Ich wyniki wskazują, że kompetencje behawioralne są najistotniejsze według respondentów w kontekście sukcesu projektu.
The key factor to project success is the project manager’s competencies, as their knowledge, skills, and experience are largely responsible for the effective and efficient implementation of project activities. There is a wealth of research in the literature on the factors of project success and failure. Meanwhile, project management associations such as the Project Management Institute (PMI) and the International Project Management Association (IPMA) have developed competency frameworks for project managers that enable the assessment of their knowledge and skills. However, there is a lack of research on the impact of individual competencies on project success, especially in Polish companies. Therefore, this article presents the results of a survey that was conducted to address the research problem: What is the impact of project manager competencies on project success in Polish companies? The study was conducted in the form of an online survey. The results of the study indicate that behavioural competencies are the most important according to the respondents in the context of project success.

Artykuł dotyczy kierunków badań związanych z zarządzaniem projektami w organizacjach non profit. Prezentowane rozważania wskazują przyszłe trendy, które mogą wzbudzić zainteresowanie zarówno wśród badaczy, jak i praktyków zajmujących się zagadnieniami zarządzania projektami w organizacjach non profit. Przeprowadzono przegląd i studia literatury w omawianym obszarze. Wykorzystano metodę narracyjnego przeglądu literatury. Takie podejście umożliwiło wskazanie aktualnego stanu wiedzy w obszarze zarządzania projektami w organizacjach non profit. Pozwoliło też na wskazanie najnowszych trendów mających związek ze zmianami, jakie zachodzą w otoczeniu tych organizacji, ale też w ich wewnętrznej organizacji. Przedstawione rozważania bazują na analizie tekstów publikacji naukowych odnoszących się do organizacji non profit funkcjonujących w Polsce. Prezentowany artykuł umożliwia lepsze poznanie potrzeb badawczych w zakresie zarządzania projektami w organizacjach non profit.

Purpose: The main objectives of the paper are to explain the importance of project governance for the management of projects in an organization and to indicate its place in the Organizational Project Management (OPM). Design/methodology/approach: Narrative literature review. Analysis of the publications from influential databases was conducted, that led to formulation of general conclusions and field for further studies. Findings: Internal project governance should fulfil four basic functions: regulatory, defining strategy, control and management support, as well as be a mandatory part of OPM. Practical implications: Project-based organizations should focus their project governance on value creation by supporting management process on 4P levels. Practitioners cannot treat project governance as just a control system. Originality/value: Fundamental issues were related to presentation of internal and external project governance, with their scope and features, description of relations between project governance and OPM, as well as formulation of various questions that highlight potential further fields of research.

Celem artykułu jest przedstawienie zależności między praktyką kierowania zespołami projektowymi i preferencjami członków zespołów w tym zakresie a modelowym ujęciem stylów kierowania w poszczególnych fazach projektu, bazującym na koncepcji J.R. Turnera i R. Müllera. Proces badawczy oparto na studiach literaturowych i badaniach własnych. W artykule dokonano analizy dotychczasowego dorobku poświęconego analizowanej tematyce. Wyniki badań empirycznych wskazują, że preferowanym przez większość wykonawców prac w projektach jest styl demokratyczny. Natomiast w praktyce zarządzania projektami, wykonawcy ci wskazują na stosowanie przez kierowników stylu demokratycznego oraz stylu autokratycznego. Zarówno preferencje respondentów, jak i praktyka nie są zbieżne z ujęciem modelowym.
The aim of the article is to present the relationship between the practice of managing project teams and preferences of team members in this area and a model approach to management styles in particular project phases, based on the concept of J.R. Turner and R. Müller. The research process was based on literature studies and empirical research. The Authors evaluated current achievements regarding to the topic analyzed. The results of empirical research indicate that the most preferred leadership style is the democratic one. On the other hand, in the practice of project management, project teams’ members point out the use of democratic style and autocratic style. Both the respondents’ preferences and the practice are not coherent with the model approach.

The paper outlines the origin of the E. 2 772! project from the EUREKA group of European projects. Justification of undertaking the subject is given as well as the structure of institutional performers constituting the project executive consortium. Characterised is the final result in the form of preliminary designs of four modern ecological Baltic short shipping vessels: container carrier, product tanker, ro-ro ship and river-sea type ship. Cel: Przedstawienie istoty i uwarunkowań kierowania zespołem projektowym, a na tym tle identyfikacja pożądanych cech kierownika i członków zespołu projektowego. Wprowadzenie: Mianem projektu określamy najczęściej antycypację przyszłych aktywności nakierowanych na osiągnięcie zamierzonego celu. Projekt to nie tylko opis przyszłych działań, ale przede wszystkim wyobrażenie celu, który zamierzamy osiągnąć. Stąd też jego atrybutami są: zdefiniowanie w czasie, niepowtarzalność, złożoność i celowość. Projektowe podejście do rozwiązywania skomplikowanych problemów technicznych czy społecznych wynika z wysokiej efektywności projektów oraz ryzyka, jakim są obarczone. Te dwie cechy wskazują na kluczowe znaczenie kierownika projektu i zespołu projektowego. W niniejszym artykule autorzy naszkicowali istotę projektu i problemy związane z kierowaniem nim. Omówiono rolę kierownika projektu jako głównego decydenta odpowiedzialnego za prawidłowy przebieg realizacji projektu oraz wymieniono główne cechy osobowościowe, jakie powinny go charakteryzować. Do osiągnięcia celu kierownikowi potrzebne jest jednak zaangażowanie i solidne wsparcie pozostałych członków projektu. Dlatego też powinien mieć duży wpływ na ich rekrutację i selekcję. Poza charyzmą, kierownika zespołu powinna również cechować umiejętność słuchania oraz poczucie odpowiedzialność zarówno za realizację projektu, jak i członków zespołu projektowego. Ze względu na jednorazowość projektu, wysoki stopień ryzyka, a w szczególności dążenie do maksymalizacji efektywności działań, bardzo duże znaczenie mają motywacja, zaangażowanie i chęć współpracy członków zespołu projektowego. Tworzenie takiego zespołu jest zadaniem trudnym, chociażby ze względu na ograniczenia czasowe, jest ono jednak podstawowym warunkiem przyszłych sukcesów. Ta niełatwa rola przypada kierownikowi projektu. Metodologia: Analiza literatury przedmiotu, wnioskowanie z doświadczeń i obserwacji. Wnioski: Kierownik projektu oprócz przygotowania merytorycznego i umiejętności zarządzania powinien posiadać cechy predysponujące go na przywódcę – ustanowionego nie z racji zajmowanego stanowiska, ale autentycznego uznania przez członków zespołu. Taki stosunek przełożonego do podwładnych i vice versa daje kierownikowi ogromny potencjał władzy i wyzwala w członkach zespołu silną motywację do skutecznego działania. Tworzy również specyficzny związek między członkami zespołu oparty na pełnym zaufaniu i szczerości. Tworzenie takiego zespołu jest trudne, aczkolwiek możliwe.
Aim: To identify aspects and conditions for managing a project team and, in that context, identification of desired attributes for a team leader and team members. Introduction: In the main, a project identifies an anticipated course of action and provides a focus for the attainment of a goal. A project report is not only a description of future activities, but above all, a view representing an achievement of a desired outcome. Its attributes include: definition of time scale, uniqueness, complexity and purpose. A high quality and effective project outcome is dependent on a creative approach to solving complicated technical or social problems coupled with an ability to address inherent risks. These two features reveal the key role played by a project manager and project team. The article outlines the essence of a project and issues associated with its management. The role of a project manager is described as the main decision-maker responsible for the smooth running of the project and the illustration identifies key personal attributes which he should possess. However, a project manager is unlikely to achieve much without the commitment and strong support from remaining team members. For this reason he should have a significant influence on the recruitment and selection of team members. Apart from charisma, the team leader should possess listening skills and a sense of responsibility for the project as well as members of the team. Because of uniqueness associated with each project, high degree of inherent risk and, in particular, the desire to maximise on effectiveness, motivation plays a major part in project development, as well as commitment and willingness to co-operate among team members. Creating such a team is a difficult task, if only because of time constraints, however, it is a fundamental pre-requisite for future success. The role of a project manager is challenging. Methodology: Critical literature review and deductions from experience and observation. Conclusions: Apart from essential organisation and management skills, a project manager should have the attributes of a leader. He should lead, not because of appointment to the post, but by genuine acceptance from team members. Such a relationship, between superior and subordinates and vice versa, gives a manager considerable potential for authority and generates a strong incentive for effective performance. Simultaneously, this creates a specific relationship among team members based on complete confidence and integrity. The creation of such a team is difficult, but not impossible.

Conducting informatic projects requires the application of modern solutions that streamline workflow. Current projects are becoming more complicated, during their implementation, large amounts of data and information are generated. In addition, in many external sources we can find data and information of the various forms and levels of detail. To get from this data a valuable knowledge, it is necessary to use new data analysis techniques and new technological solutions. The article sets out to present a dissertation of considerations for IT projects and the steps of IT project were highlighted with areas and IT tools that support their implementation. The aim of this article is to assess the current level of use of IT tools by the companies considered as leaders, at various stages of IT projects implementation. The authors also rated the intensity of IT tools usage in various areas of project execution. The paper includes results of research conducted, and can serve as a guideline for enterprises developing IT tools intended to streamline informatic projects. The contents of the dissertation are based on literature studies and empirical research.

A purposeful growth in efficiency of large industrial companies largely depends on a balanced decision-making concerning the content, the cost, and the quality of corporate projects to increase business productivity. A traditional project management methodology does not allow improving all project’s parameters simultaneously. This leads to difficulties in implementing the developed measures and in providing the planned productivity growth. To search balanced decisions in labor productivity projects it is suggested to use an integrated approach, focused on a range of efficient instruments from allied management fields. It is recommended to integrate project man-agement methodology with some instruments of strategic and innovative management, production systems development concepts LEAN, QRM and Agile, human resource and project portfolio management. A model of an integrated approach to labor productivity projects, which was developed and tested, is reasonable to use in large companies to develop hi-tech products and conduct organizational changes.

Autorzy proponują realizować przedsięwzięcia z ochrony pracy jako projekty. Aktualne jest pytanie dotyczące wyboru stosownego projektu. Czas jego początku lub inicjowanie wyznacza się na podstawie oceny potocznego stanu bezpieczeństwa przedsiębiorstwa. Wykorzystana jest metoda Mamdani’ego w celu utworzenia niewyraźnego wniosku o konieczności i inicjowania projektów zapewnienia bezpieczeństwa przedsiębiorstwa przemysłowego.

The paper describes what a project team is, what are its components, and what skills are required from a project team manager. In addition, most commonly used techniques of team evaluation are described, along with methods used in motivating team members and whole teams. The aim of the paper was to confront literary sources with the real experience of IT project team members. A survey of 100 respondents was conducted. All respondents have worked in an IT department during the last five years. The group of respondents was diverse in terms of age and gender. The questions pertained to methods of evaluating and motivating team members in IT departments.

This work demonstrates correlation between technical system efficiency criterion and complex system efficiency criterion in which the said technical system operates. Furthermore, the said correlation may be expressed by means of a set of separate particular criteria of a complex system. Methodology of choosing the technical system for project implementation within the framework of project-oriented organization of a complex sociotechnical system is also proposed. The offered method provides for a basis algorithm for calculations of situational efficiency criterion for technical system supposed to be applied within the project. The criterion in question indicates the extent to which the technical system is suitable for implementing its objective under specific conditions arising at various stages of the project implementation.
W pracy omówiono korelację między kryterium efektywności systemu technicznego i kryterium efektywności złożonego systemu, w którym wspomniany układ techniczny działa. Ponadto, wspomniany związek może być wyrażony za pomocą szeregu odrębnie określonych kryteriów złożonego systemu. W artykule zaproponowanio także metodologię wyboru systemu technicznego dla realizacji projektu w ramach projektowo zorientowanej organizacji, złożonego systemu socjotechnicznego. Sugerowana metoda przedstawia algorytm będący podstawą do obliczenia sytuacyjnego kryterium efektywności systemu technicznego, który miałby być stosowany w ramach projektu. Kryterium, o którym mowa, wskazuje w jakim stopniu system techniczny jest odpowiedni do realizacji swojego celu w określonych warunkach pojawiających się na różnych etapach realizacji projektu.

Skuteczne zarządzanie projektem jest uzależnione od kontekstu, w którym projekt jest realizowany. Aby wykorzystać potencjał otoczenia projektu, zespół zarządzający powinien zrozumieć to otoczenie oraz nim efektywnie zarządzać. Podejście kontekstowe w zarządzaniu projektami może być rozważane na poziomie pojedynczego projektu i będzie wtedy związane z procesem uwzględniania w projekcie uwarunkowań wynikających z jego otoczenia, ale także na poziomie systemowym, czyli całej organizacji i będzie wtedy oznaczać umiejętność dopasowania stosowanych technik, metod i narzędzi zarządzania projektami do poziomu dojrzałości projektowej organizacji.
Successful project management depends on the environment in which the project is implemented. To utilize the opportunities given by the project environment project management team should understand this environment and manage them effec-tively. Contextual approach in project management can be considered at the project level and then it can be connected with the process of taking into account the contextual conditions in project implementation. It can be also seen as the organization’s ability to adjust the project management techniques, methods and tools to the level of project management maturity (systemic level).

The theoretical and empirical discussion presented in this paper concerns the subject of project management from the perspective of the functioning of project teams. The research problem is the location of project team management in a networked space. The research methodology applied in the paper, includes literature analysis and expert methods. The aim of empirical studies is to identify key success factors in project team management in a networked space. The proposed research procedure of Philips 66 technique has enabled identification of a set of factors that are crucial for management of multicultural project teams in a networked space. This is followed by analysis of each of the factors and identification of key success factors in project team management.
Omówiona w referacie teoretyczna i empiryczna dyskusja dotyczy tematu zarządzania projektami z perspektywy funkcjonowania zespołów projektowych. Problemem badawczym jest lokalizacja zarządzania zespołem projektowym w przestrzeni sieciowej. Metodologia badań zastosowana w artykule obejmuje analizę literatury i metody eksperckie. Celem badań empirycznych jest identyfikacja kluczowych czynników sukcesu w zarządzaniu zespołem projektowym w przestrzeni sieciowej. Zaproponowana procedura badawcza w technice Philips 66 umożliwiła identyfikację zestawu czynników, które są kluczowe dla zarządzania wielokulturowymi zespołami projektowymi w przestrzeni sieciowej. Następnie analizuje się każdy z czynników i identyfikuje kluczowe czynniki sukcesu w zarządzaniu zespołem projektowym.

Społeczna odpowiedzialność działalności przedsiębiorstw określa odpowiedzialność organizacji za zrównoważony rozwój, zawiera obowiązki w zakresie dbałości nie tylko o zapewnienie ciągłości jego funkcjonowania, ale także działania na rzecz ochrony środowiska naturalnego, likwidację lub zmniejszanie nierówności społecznych w tym skrajnego ubóstwa czy dbałość o lokalny rozwój gospodarczy. Analizując to zagadnienie przez pryzmat projektów Autorzy uważają, że projekty – jako główne instrumenty rozwoju organizacji – powinny uwzględniać elementy zrównoważonego rozwoju odnośnie do sposobu organizacji prac, planowania ich wykonawstwa, produktów cząstkowych oraz ostatecznych rezultatów. W tym ujęciu warto podkreślić, że odpowiedzialność za obszar zrównoważonego rozwoju należy postrzegać jako naturalny element zakresu projektu, zaś branie odpowiedzialności za ten obszar powinno stać się zwyczajowym elementem procesów zarządczych w realizacji projektów, ujętych nie tylko w oddolnych procesach decyzyjnych, ale również ich wsparciu metodycznym. Zdaniem Autorów warto również doprecyzować pojęcia społecznej odpowiedzialności projektów oraz zrównoważonego zarządzania projektami. Analizie tych właśnie zagadnień został poświęcony niniejszy artykuł.
Social responsibility of enterprises defines the organization’s responsibility for sustainable development, includes obligations to ensure not only the continuity of its operation, but also activities to protect the natural environment, eliminate or reduce social inequalities, including extreme poverty or attention to local economic development. Taking project management into consideration, the authors believe that projects, as the main instruments of organizational development, should take into account elements of sustainable development regarding the way of organizing work, planning its execution, partial products, and final results. In this approach, it is worth emphasizing that responsibility for the area of sustainable development should be perceived as a natural element of the project scope, and taking responsibility for this area should become a customary element of management processes in project implementation, included not only in bottom-up decision-making processes but also in their methodological support. According to the authors, it is also worth clarifying the concepts of social responsibility of projects and sustainable project management. This article is devoted to the analysis of these issues.

Opis:
Purpose: To propose a framework for choosing a project management approach for student research projects, taking into account the individual objectives of the advisor and the student, their personalities, the project type, and its environment. The proposed approach should increase the success rate of student research projects. Design/methodology/approach: Student research projects are characterized, and the relevant literature is reviewed. The theory concerning recent project management developments that could be potentially useful for student research projects is presented. A case study is analyzed. On the basis of the case study and the literature findings, a conceptual framework for the selection of a student research project management approach is proposed. Findings: It was found that student research projects, although apparently nonproblematic, need a conscious, individualized, situation-based selection of project management approach in order to assure a high success rate, according to the individual success understanding of project stakeholders. Research limitations/implications: The proposed framework is a conceptual one. It was developed on the basis of theory and under consideration of student research projects in one area and homogenous culture. Further research is needed to add new aspects to the approach, expand it to other research areas and cultures, and validate its usefulness in practice. Practical implications: Higher education institutions should promote project management knowledge among teachers and students, and conscious decision-making on the way student research projects will be performed. They should elaborate tailor-made frameworks for student research project management. Social implications: Student research projects, if managed improperly, may cause students and advisors dissatisfaction and stress. The approach we propose may, in the long term, increase the quality of life of students and advisors. Originality/value: The framework supporting the conscious selection of the way student research projects are managed, comprising recent developments in project management and taking into account the specific features and environment of each individual project, is an original contribution of the paper. It is addressed both to student project advisors and students themselves, as well as the managers of higher educational institutions.

The present paper synthesizes the current knowledge of scientific research that analyses the issue of projects, especially environmental projects. It pays special attention to the topic of environmental project management as a prerequisite for ensuring sustainability at both macroeconomic and microeconomic levels.
W artykule dokonano syntezy aktualnego stanu wiedzy na temat badań naukowych, analizujących problematykę projektów, a zwłaszcza projektów środowiskowych. Szczególną uwagę poświęca tematyce zarządzania projektami środowiskowymi jako warunku koniecznego do zapewnienia zrównoważonego rozwoju zarówno na poziomie makroekonomicznym, jak i mikroekonomicznym.

Opis:
A dynamic, interactive approach to the control of a project’s realization time is proposed. The duration time of the project’s activities is assumed to depend on certain factors whose influence may change in time. Based on the project’s history up to a certain moment, the change in influence of these factors has been evaluated and estimates of the duration of activities which have not been started yet are updated. The estimates of the duration time of the activities and project are expressed in the form of fuzzy numbers. This allows us to keep a constant track of the risk of the project not keeping the deadline and to be aware of which factors influence delays, thus where to act in order to minimize the final delay while it is not yet too late – in the course of the project’s realization, as early as possible.

This article provides a general overview of the concept of project bonds. It begins by reviewing the statistics on infrastructural investments. Next, the author examines the role of infrastructure in economic growth and looks at different options for financing infrastructure, with particular focus on the role of banking sector. The next sections respectively describe the idea of project bonds within the framework of EU policies and the functionalities of this innovative financial instrument, including its rating aspects. The last section assesses the factors that can facilitate success of this concept as well as challenges that need to be addressed.

Opis:
An optimal resource allocation approach to stochastic multimodal projects had been previously developed by applying a Dynamic Programming model which proved to be very demanding computationally. A new approach, the Electromagnetism-like Mechanism, has also been adopted and implemented in Matlab, to solve this problem. This paper presents the implementation of the Electromagnetism approach using an Object Oriented language, Java, and a distributed version to be run in a computer network, in order to take advantage of available computational resources.

The success of projects in enterprises and the success of an entire organization’s business largely depend on the possession and efficient use of the relevant information. In a broader context, success depends on having the adequate knowledge at the right time and place. Business processes generate large amount of data that are collected and processed in a way enabling transforming data into a measurable and useful value, which is information. Its efficient usage streamlines business processes, and allows to respond quickly to changes and proper decision-making. The aim of the paper is to present and define the project management challenges and ideas of Business Intelligence and Big Data systems. The types of analysis available in both platforms are also discussed. In the paper, the authors try to identify the areas of project management that can benefit from Business Intelligence and Big Data analysis.

In the research carried out by one of Polish research agencies [Pentor 2010], local administration offices were in general seen as institutions which, despite high expenditures, maintained inefficient operations and as a result did fully satisfy the needs of citizens. In addition, searching for the causes of failures in projects, the lack of professional approach to project management should be highlighted, which relates to the undertaken ad hoc adaptation activities to changes in the environment, and the implementation of projects in interim and in unsystematic way. The research found that the consequence of this state of affairs was the reduction of the effectiveness of implementation of projects and of synergistic effect created by audited entity. As a result, the growing importance of project management in the functioning of local government units in Poland, with low levels of performance previously practiced in this field, tended to take the search for a new approach to project management in the units.

Celem artykułu jest prezentacja wyników autorskich badań z zakresu operatywnego controllingu projektów wykonanych w latach 2014-2015. Obejmowały one swoim zakresem m.in.: analizę stopnia spełnienia oczekiwań respondentów w odniesieniu do procedur controllingu projektów funkcjonujących w badanych organizacjach, identyfikację wad i zalet stosowanych obecnie rozwiązań w tym zakresie oraz weryfikację zakresu i częstotliwości kontroli operatywnych w stosunku do poziomu sprawności realizacji przedsięwzięć.
The aim of this article is to present the results of research in the field of operative project controlling carried out in 2014-2015. These included, among others, the analysis of its scope, the degree to meet the expectations of the respondents in relation to the procedures for controlling projects in the surveyed organizations, identify the advantages and disadvantages of currently used solutions in this field as well as the scope and frequency verification of operative controls in relation to the level of efficiency of projects implementation process.

Celem badania jest empiryczne rozpoznanie sposobu funkcjonowania biur zarządzania projektami (ang. PMO) w organizacjach stosujących podejście zwinne. W części środowiska zarządzania projektami panuje przekonanie, że PMO powstające zwykle w organizacjach „tradycyjnych” (command and control) nie przystaje do tzw. zwinnego myślenia (ang. agile mindset). Przykłady liderów gospodarczych pokazują jednak, że po dopasowaniu do nowych warunków, biura utrzymują swoją funkcję, a wręcz stają się zwornikiem nowego, bardziej elastycznego systemu organizacji i zarządzania. W obszarze tym istnieje istotna luka wiedzy, która na bazie uważnego rozpoznania autorów nie znajduje nadal dostatecznego zaspokojenia w dostępnych zasobach wiedzy naukowej, ani źródłach popularnych. W badaniu przyjęto strategię badawczą opartą na metodzie wywiadów ustrukturyzowanych, za pomocą których zgromadzono materiał opisujący łącznie 6 przypadków. Następnie materiał ten poddano analizie. W rezultacie nie udało się wykazać istotnych różnic w funkcjonowaniu biura projektów między środowiskiem zwinnym i tradycyjnym. Respondenci nie dostrzegli również zagrożenia dla działania PMO w mniej sformalizowanym zwinnym środowisku.
The aim of the study is empirical recognition of the functioning of project management offices (PMOs) in organizations using the agile approach project management. In some project management circles, there is a belief that PMOs typically formed in ‘traditional’ (command and control) organizations are not compatible with the so-called agile mindset. However, examples of business leaders show that, after adapting to new conditions, PMOs maintain their function and even become a pivot for a new, more flexible system of organization and management. In this area there is a knowledge gap which has not been addressed sufficiently either in the subject literature or in popular sources so far, according to the authors. The study adopted a research strategy based on the method of structured interviews through which material describing a total of 6 cases was gathered. Subsequently, this material underwent analysis. As a result, it was not possible to demonstrate significant differences in the functioning of the project office between agile and traditional environments. The respondents also did not perceive any threats to the PMO’s operation in a less formalized agile environment.

The present paper considers the problem of the success of a research project evaluated by its outputs (which can be seen as the project’s success measures) related to its inputs (constituting the project’s success factors). Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) models are used. The inputs and outputs are selected on the basis of a review of the literature. Two models are applied to a set of research projects implemented in Poland. Advantages and disadvantages of the approach are shown. In particular, the selection of inputs, outputs and their weights needs to be researched further. But the models used in the paper, in spite of their imperfection and lack of generality, considerably help to assess and compare the projects. Therefore, DEA is an important tool for the evaluation of R&D activities.

The aim of the article is to answer two research questions concerning the influence of organizational factors and shape of project portfolio on the content and scope, as well as on the stakeholders engagement in project planning. The research strategy included a questionnairebased method. The respondents were representatives of the chosen companies located in Poland, from varied types of industries. The key research finding is that most frequently addressed areas of project planning are those of the iron-triangle of project constraints. There is still lack of understanding for communication, risk and quality planning in projects, which is consonant with recent studies of maturity in project management areas. There are significant differences between industries in terms of areas of project planning. Power engineering seems to be more mature in terms of more frequent practices of planning the project schedule, resources and risk. The research showed a number of significant correlations between components of project planning and both organizational and project portfolio factors, which justifies the statement that those factors can be seen as determinants of project planning practices.

Purpose: The aim of the article is to analyse the risk management process in IT projects managed using the agile methods. Design/methodology/approach: The research was conducted through in-depth structured interviews on a sample of 111 project managers, leaders and project team members. Findings: In the conducted research, attention was paid to the identification of risk factors, their assessment during project planning, management of key risk factors and the importance of risk analysis for project success. The test results were compared with a critical analysis of the literature on the subject of research. Originality/value: The results of a survey of company heads become input information for the analysis, which allowed to confirm theoretical knowledge with the practical experience of company heads and emphasize the importance of the human factor in the risk management.

Opis:
The article examines the peculiarities of training future specialists in the food industry by introducing project technology into the educational process. Emphasis is placed on the development of students’ skills such as communication, creativity, cooperation, critical thinking and time management, which will help them to effectively adapt in a changing social reality. Professional training should promote the development of these skills through projects, group assignments, training and other active forms of learning. The categorization of projects is outlined, highlighting the significance of their practical focus, in particular, the increasing prominence of international trade and cultural interchange necessitates that future specialists possess a comprehensive understanding of global trends and cultural diversity. Furthermore, it emphasizes the need for adaptability to industry changes, underscoring the importance of training competent personnel within a dynamic social context. Consideration is given to the prospect of examining the correlation between social trends and the food industry, aiming to identify strategies for aligning the industry with evolving societal needs. The implementation of project-based approaches in the professional training of future specialists in the food industry is justified, highlighting the following design methods: the idea matrix method, role-playing method, analogy method, association method, brainstorming method, synectics method, and modeling method. These methods are characterized and practical recommendations for their effective utilization within research projects are provided.
W artykule podjęto temat specyfiki szkolenia przyszłych specjalistów przemysłu spożywczego poprzez wprowadzenie technologii projektowej do procesu edukacyjnego. Nacisk kładziony jest na rozwój umiejętności studentów, takich jak komunikacja, kreatywność, współpraca, krytyczne myślenie i zarządzanie czasem, które pomogą im skutecznie dostosować się do zmieniającej się rzeczywistości społecznej. Szkolenie powinno ułatwiać rozwój tych umiejętności poprzez projekty, zadania grupowe, treningi i inne aktywne formy edukacji. Opisano rodzaje projektów i pokazano znaczenie ich praktycznej orientacji, w szczególności wzrost handlu międzynarodowego i wymiany kulturalnej wymaga od przyszłych specjalistów zrozumienia globalnych trendów, różnic kulturowych i dostosowania się do zmian w branży, w oparciu o zadania szkolenia wykwalifikowanego personelu w zmieniającej się rzeczywistości społecznej. Uwzględniono możliwość analizy związku między trendami społecznymi a przemysłem spożywczym oraz znalezienia sposobów dostosowania branży do zmieniających się wymagań społeczeństwa. Uzasadniono metodologię wprowadzania technologii projektowej w procesie szkolenia zawodowego przyszłych specjalistów przemysłu spożywczego oraz wyróżniono następujące metody projektowania: metodę matrycy pomysłów, metodę wchodzenia w rolę, metodę analogii, metodę skojarzeń, metodę burzy mózgów, metodę synektyki i metodę modelowania. Przedstawiono charakterystykę i praktyczne rekomendacje dotyczące prowadzenia skutecznych działań projektowych w ramach projektów badawczych.

Opis:
A key issue for stakeholder management is to determine who, to what extent and why can influence a project. Proper identification of stakeholders and their classification according to the criteria adopted allows for defining their hierarchy, strength and impact on the project. This, in turn, conditions the development of a strategy for dealing with individual stakeholder groups. The definitions of the concept of a stakeholder have been reviewed to determine the identification criteria. The article also attempts to systematize methods of qualifying stakeholders, depending on the number of differentiation criteria. The methods used for the qualification of stakeholders are often presented graphically.
