This study was carried out in a clothing company to determine the parameters that influence the decline in production. The results showed that the parameter "Machine failures" had a 34.6% effect on production, and "lack of versatility" 19.7%, while the parameter "heavy launch" had an effect of 17.1%, "lack of supplies" 9%, touch-ups 3%, and "lack of cut parts" 2%. Indeed, the application of lean and six sigma tools and especially the D.M.A.I.C and TPM methods are two tools that improve efficiency and productivity in a production workshop. Thus, a grid was developed to monitor and maintain the effectiveness of improvement actions and for the continuity of the spirit of improvement within the production department without forgetting that teamwork makes it possible to improve the result.

Opis:
The aim of this article is to show the use of the analysis of the failure causes and effects as a prevention tool in controlling the quality of a given production process in the company. The scope of the work covers an analysis of a selected process, definition of inconsistencies present in this process, and then the FMEA analysis. In the production company one should implement thinking and actions based on the so-called ‘quality loop’ – it is an interdependence model of the undertaken actions which affect the quality shaping. It is carried out from the possibility for identifying a customer’s requirements through a project, production process, up to the assessment of effective capability for meeting the defined requirements. The application of such an approach enables to take the actions improving the operation of quality management in a systemic way.

In the paper on the base of literature review and also opinions of entrepreneurs dealt with fuel briquette manufacturing and also the data coming from selected enterprise a differential calculation model was worked out. First, circumstances of development of renewable energy sources sector in Poland were highlighted. One can indicate both high potential of renewable energy resources in Poland, big investments in this area last time and chances resulted in increasing demand for such kind of fuel and stimulating the EU legal requirements as well. Secondary, course of manufacturing and logistics processes of fuel briquette fabrication were analyzed considering relevant technical and economical parameters. Detail description of those processes let set crucial factors influenced studied fuel briquette production. This enabled elaboration of differential calculation model to set up interesting decision scenarios and simulate their different financial effects with marginal calculation method. Once can analyze impact of different levels of raw material humidity at unit cost of fuel briquette output. Next, financial effects of failures of crumbling machine influenced by polluted raw material were investigated. One can underline difficulty to precise probability of occurrence of such failures and to estimate accurately relevant costs closed to them. Third, elaborated model let simulate effects of different average transportation distance of enterprise from raw material location and also different prices of fuel. One can conclude that transportation costs are crucial for profitability of studied manufacturing process. Hence, worked out method of analysis of decision scenarios was verified positively as useful tool let update management in enterprises dealt with manufacturing of fuel briquette made from agro biomass. One can conclude that quality of raw material about level of pollution and humidity and also distance of its transportation and fuel price are crucial factors determining production process and shaping production costs, what is very important in planning.

Optimization of production processes and achieving the expected effects of their implementation is an important aspect in the current management of the company. The implementation of appropriate instruments in the field of optimization of quality processes certainly affects the improvement of production processes in enterprises from the automotive industry and increases their competitiveness. The purpose of this article is therefore to analyze the body and paint repair process in a selected company, including the tools and methods of its optimization.

W opracowaniu przeglądowym przedstawiono znaczenie roślin motylkowatych (w obecnej systematyce – bobowate) w produkcji wartościowych pasz objętościowych na gruntach ornych w systemie zrównoważonym i ekologicznym. Omówiono ich wpływ na środowisko, działanie strukturotwórcze, wzbogacanie gleby w substancję organiczną i składniki pokarmowe, zwiększenie produkcyjności gleby oraz poprawianie jej właściwości fizykochemicznych. Podkreślono szczególną rolę roślin motylkowatych w obiegu azotu w przyrodzie, związaną z procesem symbiozy z bakteriami brodawkowymi asymilującymi znaczne ilości azotu atmosferycznego i transferem azotu roślinom współrzędnym oraz następczym. Przedstawiono wartość pasz: zielonki, siana, kiszonki i sianokiszonki oraz PX z lucerny i ich wpływ na produkcyjność zwierząt. Omówiono również znaczenie roślin motylkowatych w pszczelnictwie, jako pożytku dla pszczół miodnych, trzmieli i dzikich zapylaczy. Opisano również zastosowanie tych roślin w ochronie środowiska i rekultywacji terenów zniszczonych przez przemysł.
This compiled review of literature data highlights the importance of fine-grained papilionaceous plants in the production of valuable bulk fodder on arable lands in the sustainable and organic systems. The impact of legumes on the environment was discussed and such benefits as improved soil structure, increased soil organic matter and nutrient content, increased soil productivity and improved soil chemical and physical properties were underlined. Emphasis was given to the particular role of legumes in nitrogen recycling in nature through the symbiotic processes which involve nodule-forming bacteria that fix substantial amounts of atmospheric nitrogen and transfer it to co-cultivated and to subsequent crops. The value of particular feeds - fresh herbage, hay, silage and hay ensilage as well as PX concentrate from lucerne - and their effect on animal productivity were presented. In addition, the importance of legumes in apiculture as the honey crops for honeybees, bumble bees and for wild pollinators was discussed. Some attention was also given to the use of these crops in environmental protection and in the reclamation of lands devastated by industry.

In the paper there was presented the role and importance of choosing appropriate quality management methods in making decisions on implementing corrective actions on the example of a selected metallurgical company. There was presented application of the results of production process improving methods, such as 5 Why and FMEA, to indicate corrective actions. Moreover, it was analyzed whether, after introducing these activities, it was possible to eliminate or limit defects in the production process. For this purpose, the level of the RPN index was recalculated - after the changes were introduced. Furthermore, the costs of defects before and after the introduction of corrective actions were estimated.

The purpose of the paper is to present the author’s reflections on the origin and popularity of various approaches to maintenance and improvement of production processes, their terminological consistency, understanding, and practical application of their principles. The author’s reflections are based on his observations made over his many years of activity as a lecturer and consultant in the area of production engineering and management. It was shown that there is a need to make scientists and practitioners aware of the relatively large degree of freedom in defining the scope and way of application of strategies of continuous improvement. The author’s proposal is to refer to all approaches to maintenance and improvement of production processes with the title “Strategies of Efficient Action” and all supporting methods as “Practices of Efficient Action”. Considerations presented in the paper can be useful in more and more efficiently applying the power of TQM, Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing and other strategies of processes maintenance and improvement in the daily activities of companies.

Każde przedsiębiorstwo szuka sposobów na doskonalenie swoich procesów oraz produktów powstających w wyniku tych procesów. Jedną z metod wykorzystywanych w takich sytuacjach jest metoda 5W2H. W czasie wykorzystania metody zadaje się najczęściej następujące pytania: Co? Dlaczego? Kiedy? Jak? Gdzie? Kto? Za ile?, które dotyczą badanego problemu. Celem artykułu jest wykorzystanie metody 5W2H do doskonalenia procesu produkcji wentylatorów na przykładzie wybranego polskiego przedsiębiorstwa. Badania przeprowadzono w przedsiębiorstwie X, które działa w branży wentylacyjno-klimatyzacyjnej i powstało w latach siedemdziesiątych w okolicach Częstochowy. Przedstawiono pojęcie doskonalenia. Dokonano charakterystyki przedsiębiorstwa, oraz wybranego wyrobu, który podlegał doskonaleniu. Przeprowadzono analizę problemu niezgodnych elementów obudów wentylatorów z wykorzystaniem metody 5W1H. Okazało się, że zidentyfikowane niezgodności powstają podczas produkcji wyprasek, na stanowiskach obróbki wykańczających oraz podczas transportu gotowych elementów.
Every enterprise looks for ways to improve its processes and products resulting from these processes. One of the methods used in these cases is the 5W2H method. During the use of this method most often the following questions are asked: What? Why? When? How? Where? Who? How much?, which relate to a given problem. The purpose of this paper is to use the 5W2H method to improve the production process of fans on the example of chosen Polish enterprise. The research was conducted in the enterprise X, which operates in the field of ventilation and air conditioning and was created in the seventies in the neighbourhood of Czestochowa. The concept of improvement was presented. Characteristics of the chosen enterprise and chosen product, which was subjected to improvement, were presented. An analysis of the problem of nonconformities occurring in housing elements of fans with use of the 5W1H method was conducted. It turned out that the identified nonconformities appeared during the production of moldings, on the finishing processing stations and during transportation of finished parts.

The paper presents a case study of the practical use of Deming cycle in a manufacturing company, from the plastics processing industry, from the sector of small and medium-sized enterprises. The paper is a study of literature in the field of continuous improvement and characterized by a cycle of continuous improvement, called the Deming cycle, or PDCA cycle. This cycle was used as a solution to quality problems which occurred during production of photo frames: discolorations and scorches on the surface of the frame. When measures were introduced to reduce the number of non-conformities, a decrease by more than 60% was observed.

The aim of this work was to determine the effectiveness of using the FMEA method in the traditional and modern versions for a small company producing plastic toys. It also identified the production process of a plastic instrument toy selected for analysis by dividing operations into adding and not adding value, in accordance with the Lean concept. Through the FMEA sheets constructed and presented in this work in both versions of this method, the causes and effects of defects in the technological operations of the production process of the test subject were presented. A risk analysis was carried out using assessments available for the traditional and new versions, and preventive and detective actions were proposed. The result of the work was a comparison of risk indicators characteristic for both versions of the FMEA method and an assessment of the effectiveness of this method in the analysed enterprise. Emphasis was placed on the human factor in the research. Both the division of operations into adding and not adding value, as well as the FMEA method, were useful for further optimization and process improvement activities.

Purpose: The aim of the article is to present the benefits of using selected Lean Management elements in the production process on the example of a company producing mechanical seals. Design/methodology/approach: The article is theoretical and empirical in nature and is based on the analysis of a selected case. In the empirical part, the analysis concerns selected elements of the production process in the examined enterprise. Findings: The results obtained in the article refer to the benefits of using Lean Management in the production process in the analyzed enterprise. The use of identification and elimination of waste and standardization of activities at workplaces (introduction of job instructions) in selected areas of the production process allowed for the improvement of its parameters, which was presented in the article. Research limitations/implications: The limitations in the empirical area could be the reference only to selected aspects of Lean Management and the analyzed process. Future research will cover the broader scope of Lean Management and other companies. Practical implications: The results of the case study show the direct impact of Lean Management on the parameters of the analyzed production process. Thanks to the use of Lean Management, the process parameters have improved, which is an important factor in the context of the effectiveness of the company's functioning as a system. Originality/value: The added value of the article is the practical presentation of the use of Lean Management to improve the parameters of the production process.

The aim of the article is to outline potential directions of changes in production processes in furniture manufacturing that may occur under the impact of Industry 4.0. The research methods used as part of the study include a critical literature review, nd a case study of a selected company operating in the furniture manufacturing sector supplemented with a survey. The results obtained indicate the impact of Industry 4.0 on enterprises operating in this sector, which is visible in their efforts aimed at modernizing their production processes. A particularly important direction of the changes involves the implementation of integrated systems, processing data in real time, which allows for customizing the manufacturing while meeting the requirements of mass production. The results obtained broaden the knowledge of the application of 4.0 technologies in areas that involve the use of simple technologies, including industries with low levels of innovation, i.e. in sectors traditionally not susceptible to revolutionary changes brought about by new production management technologies.
Celem badań, których wyniki zamieszczono w tym artykule, jest wskazanie możliwych kierunków zmian w procesach produkcji w sektorze producentów mebli, które mogą zajść pod wpływem Industry 4.0. Metodami badawczymi wykorzystanymi w badaniach są: krytyczny przegląd literatury, studium przypadku wybranej firmy sektora producentów mebli uzupełnione o badanie ankietowe. Uzyskane wyniki wskazują na wpływ Industry 4.0 na przedsiębiorstwa z polskiego sektora produkcji mebli, który widoczny jest w dążeniu tych przedsiębiorstw do modernizacji procesów produkcji. Szczególnie istotnym kierunkiem zmian jest wprowadzanie systemów zintegrowanych przetwarzających dane w czasie rzeczywistym, które pozwalają na kastomizację produkcji przy jednoczesnym zachowaniu założenia masowości. Uzyskane wyniki poszerzą wiedzę w zakresie stosowania technologii 4.0 w obszarach prostych technologii i w sektorach o niskim poziomie innowacji, czyli w sektorach tradycyjnie niepodatnych na rewolucyjne zmiany wywoływane użyciem nowych technologii w zarządzaniu produkcją.

Each organisation, regardless of its profile, strives to achieve the best results possible; however, it needs to be noted that they frequently are different for each entity. Based on the studies and observations, the authors noticed that famous companies have similar approaches to the organisation of processes. These processes can be assigned to Lean Philosophy derived from the Japanese manufacturing industry. Many corporations and even smaller companies apply Lean principles. To introduce changes to the organisation and functioning of businesses, it is indispensable to subject them to Lean Transformation and to map basic value streams for the company as a whole and for its individual departments.
Celem każdej organizacji zarówno działającej w przemyśle, jak i w firmach usługowych, urzędach czy jednostkach budżetowych jest uzyskanie jak najlepszych wyników. Wyniki te są definiowane dla każdego podmiotu w odmienny sposób. Na podstawie badań i obserwacji określono, że procesy w każdej ze znanych organizacji cechują się wieloma podobieństwami. Procesy te można połączyć i podporządkować filozofii Lean mającej swoje korzenie w japońskich przedsiębiorstwach produkcyjnych. Wiele dużych koncernów podobnie jak mniejszych firm z powodzeniem stosuje zawarte w tej filozofii zasady działania. Zmiany w funkcjonowaniu zarówno ludzi i/lub kultury działania organizacji dzięki implementacji Lean możliwe są w przypadku wskazania podstawowego strumienia wartości dla ogółu firmy, jak i strumienia wartości dla poszczególnych jej działów.

Zaprezentowano różne aspekty i podejścia do doskonalenia procesu produkcyjnego, opisano na co należy zwracać uwagę podejmując się takich działań, określono co może być obiektem czy też obszarem doskonalenia, jak należy skutecznie prowadzić proces doskonalenia, jakie są wymagania dla takiego procesu, jakie metody, techniki i narzędzia można w tym celu użyć. Odniesiono skuteczność podstawowych koncepcji doskonalenia produkcji i jakości ze względu na spełnienie wymagań typu dobrze, szybko i tanio.
