Correct determination of costs of offered products, services or logistic processes is one of principal factors of efficient functioning of enterprises. It is particularly important today, in the era of increasing competition, where the cost of the service grows along with the quality of the service. Authors’ belief that processes create the value important for the customer, resulted in the performance of the analysis of logistic costs in a selected process from the area of electronic and traditional commerce and consequently, the example of an electronic warehouse was presented in which Time-Driven Activity Based Costing method was implemented. The analysis is aimed at reaching the assumed level of quality of service. The goal of the analysis is to show areas that require special attention because of waste identified with Lean Management approach and introducing reasons to implement substantial changes in analyzed areas.

The liquidation of the mine is the last and natural stage of mining activity. The activities related to the revitalization and restructuring of hard coal mines are carried out by Spółka Restrukturyzacji Kopalń S.A. (SRK S.A.), as the legal successor of previous mining operations. The implementation of the mine liquidation process has not been the subject of scientific research so far aimed at rationalization and minimization of the costs incurred. Activities leading to the liquidation of the mining plants are the procedural nature, however, the mine liquidation is always a single case which has a result in diversifying the size of outlays. The support for the implementation of the process approach in the issue of mine liquidation in terms of rationalization and minimization of the costs incurred in SRK S.A. was to develop a method of managing the costs of liquidation processes with the software for evaluation of its size. The proposed method signals to the designer that the estimated cost of the process of liquidation of another mining plant deviates from the average values previously worked out by SRK S.A. The range of acceptable values results from the assumed coefficient of data variation.

Background: The information exchange process within the supply chain management is considered key to managing physical product flow and improving cost and service performance of enterprises. There are many different types of information that can be shared within the supply chain. In some cases, the information shared has to be strongly secured. The aim of the paper is to prepare appropriate models and design of the RFID-based access control system, as well as its architecture, including the domain model, requirements, business process models, and user interfaces. Methods: The paper presents the concept and design models of the access control system for RFID-tagged documents in supply chain management. The system architecture and design models, including the domain model, requirements, business process models, and user interfaces were described. Results: The access control system allows to assign privileges to particular persons or groups of persons for specific documents. When implementing the processes related to the handling of documents, the required privileges are verified. Existence or lack of such privileges affects further development of such processes. Conclusions: The module of privileges (using the functionalities of the Aurea BPM and Archer-DMS systems) including the user authorization to handle the documents at different sensitivity levels was developed.
Proces wymiany informacji w obrębie łańcucha dostaw jest używany za kluczowy czynnik w przepływie materiałów jak również dla poprawy jakości zarządzania kosztami i poziomem obsługi klienta w przedsiębiorstwie. Istnieje kilka różnych typów informacji, których wymiana następuje w obrębie łańcucha dostaw. W niektórych przypadkach informacja ta musi być szczególnie chroniona. Celem tej pracy było przygotowanie odpowiednich modeli oraz zaprojektowanie systemu kontroli dostępu w oparciu o technologię RFID jak również jego architektury, w tym modele domeny, wymagań, modelu procesu biznesowego oraz interfejsów użytkownika. Metody: Zaprezentowano koncepcję oraz modele projektowe systemu kontroli dostępu w oparciu o technologię RFID w zarządzaniu łańcuchem dostaw. Opisano architekturę systemu i modele projektowe w tym modele domeny, wymagań, modelu procesu biznesowego oraz interfejsów użytkownika. Wyniki: System kontroli dostępu umożliwia nadawanie uprawnień poszczególnym użytkowników lub ich grupom dostępu do poszczególnych dokumentów. W trakcie realizacji procesów pozyskiwania dokumentów, następuje weryfikacja uprawnień. Brak tych uprawnień ma wpływ na dalsze postępowanie w trakcie analizowanego procesu. Wnioski: Opracowano moduł uprawnień (przy zastosowaniu funkcjonalności systemów Aurea BPM oraz Archer-DMS), w tym autoryzacji użytkownika, w celu zarządzania dostępem do dokumentów na wymaganym poziomie.

Opis:
Achieving control of coating thickness in foundry moulds is needed in order to guarantee uniform properties of the mould but also to achieve control of drying time. Since drying time of water based coatings is heavily dependent on the amount of water present in the coating layer, a stable coating process is prerequisite for a stable drying process. In this study, we analyse the effect of different variables on the coating layer properties. We start by considering four critical variables identified in a previous study such as sand compaction, coating density, dipping time and gravity and then we add centre points to the original experimental plans to identify possible non-linear effects and variation in process stability. Finally, we investigate the relation between coating penetration (a variable that is relatively simple to measure in production) and other coating layer thickness properties (relevant for the drying process design). Correlations are found and equations are provided. In particular it is found that water thickness can be directly correlated to penetration with a simple linear equation and without the need to account for other variables.

The objectives of this research are to study the direct influence on the competitive advantage and pattern development of variables affecting the competitive advantage of the Thai oil palm industry. This research employs a quantitative research method. The population for the study consists of 150 oil palm industrial operators in Thailand. Questionnaires are used in the data collection and the data are analyzed by using SEM. The research results reveal that the Knowledge Management Process and Supply Chain Integration positively influence the competitive advantage in the quality, delivery, and cost. The competitive advantage receives a positive direct impact from the Knowledge Management Process and Supply Chain Integration. The variation of competitive advantage can be explained as 84%. The obtained results can be used for developing the industry to create economic growth and sustainable competitive advantage.

In Morocco, solid household waste is often disposed of in open air in unsuitable sites, causing adverse effects on humans and the environment. In the province of Settat, there are eight uncontrolled landfills. The present study aimed to determine the most suitable sites from an environmental and economic point of view to ensure good management on a regional scale. The investigation involved a combination of a multi-criteria method (the AHP analytical hierarchy process) and a GIS geographic information system (ArcGIS) with ten criteria: distance from the ground water, water surfaces, drilling, settlements, forests, roads, highway, land use, slope, and elevation. The suitability map showed that about 18.5% of the study area is suitable for installing a sanitary landfill.

Opis:
The paper outlines the recent trends in the evolution of Business Process Management (BPM) – especially the application of AI for decision support. AI has great potential to augment human judgement. Indeed, Machine Learning might be considered as a supplementary and complimentary solution to enhance and support human productivity throughout all aspects of personal and professional life. The idea of merging technologies for organizational learning and workflow management was first put forward by Wargitsch. Herein, completed business cases stored in an organizational memory are used to configure new workflows, while the selection of an appropriate historical case is supported by a case-based reasoning component. This informational environment has been recognized in the world as being effective and has become quite common because of the significant increase in the use of artificial intelligence tools. This article discusses also how automated planning techniques (one of the oldest areas in AI) can be used to enable a new level of automation and processing support. The authors of the article decided to analyse this topic and discuss the scientific state of the art and the application of AI in BPM systems for decision-making support. It should be noted that readily available software exists for the needs of the development of such systems in the field of artificial intelligence. The paper also includes a unique case study with production system of Decision Support, using controlled machine learning algorithms to predictive analytical models.
W artykule przedstawiono najnowsze trendy w ewolucji zarządzania procesami biznesowymi – zwłaszcza zastosowanie sztucznej inteligencji do wspomagania decyzji. Sztuczna inteligencja ma ogromny potencjał, by wzmocnić ludzki osąd. Uczenie maszynowe może być uważane za dodatkowe i uzupełniające rozwiązanie zwiększające i wspierające produktywność ludzi we wszystkich aspektach życia osobistego i zawodowego. Idea łączenia technologii uczenia się organizacji i zarządzania przepływem pracy została przedstawiona przez Wargitscha. Ukończone sprawy biznesowe przechowywane w pamięci organizacyjnej służą do konfigurowania nowych przepływów pracy. Wybór odpowiedniego przypadku historycznego jest poparty komponentem wnioskowania opartym na przypadkach. To środowisko informacyjne zostało uznane na świecie ze względu na znaczny wzrost wykorzystania narzędzi sztucznej inteligencji. Istnieje duża liczba kwalifikujących się do użycia i łatwo dostępnych algorytmów na potrzeby rozwoju systemów sztucznej inteligencji wspierającej procesy biznesowe. W tym artykule omówiono także, w jaki sposób można zastosować techniki automatycznego planowania (jeden z najstarszych obszarów AI), aby umożliwić nowy poziom automatyzacji i wsparcia przetwarzania. Wdrożenie sztucznej inteligencji wykazuje znaczące wyniki, szczególnie w celu uzyskania wyższego zysku. Autorzy artykułu postanowili przeanalizować ten temat i omówić stan wiedzy naukowej oraz zastosowanie sztucznej inteligencji w systemach BPM do wspomagania decyzji. Artykuł zawiera także unikalne studium przypadku z systemem produkcji wspomagania decyzji, wykorzystujące algorytmy kontrolowanego uczenia maszynowego do predykcyjnych modeli analitycznych.

Background: The medical device industry needs to be sustainable and should consider the safest, trusted quality and accessibility for use when they are required for patient diagnostic procedures. This study is conducted to identify the factors influencing sustainable development of medical devices. Methods: The analytical hierarchy process (AHP) is being adopted to prioritize the influencing factors. Based on the classified criteria, the alternative factors are evaluated and compared with each other using AHP to make an optimal selection. Results: The findings show that there are six main factors and seventeen sub-factors in this study that can support the development of sustainable medical devices. This study provides useful information for the medical device supplier to improve their current and future product design toward sustainable medical device development. Conclusions: This study adds to the understanding of sustainable medical device development and its consequences on the intention to use from the consumer's perspective.

The aim of the article is to answer two research questions concerning the influence of organizational factors and shape of project portfolio on the content and scope, as well as on the stakeholders engagement in project planning. The research strategy included a questionnairebased method. The respondents were representatives of the chosen companies located in Poland, from varied types of industries. The key research finding is that most frequently addressed areas of project planning are those of the iron-triangle of project constraints. There is still lack of understanding for communication, risk and quality planning in projects, which is consonant with recent studies of maturity in project management areas. There are significant differences between industries in terms of areas of project planning. Power engineering seems to be more mature in terms of more frequent practices of planning the project schedule, resources and risk. The research showed a number of significant correlations between components of project planning and both organizational and project portfolio factors, which justifies the statement that those factors can be seen as determinants of project planning practices.

The purpose of this article is standardisation of the assumptions for the design of an IT system intended for managing business processes present within the framework of training implementation undertakings, including those carried out in the e-learning mode. It is assumed that the pre-project, conceptual modelling of business processes and operations necessary for the organization, running and settlement of training, developed by the authors, shall provide the designers with the revised domain knowledge and by this it will increase the quality of the proposed IT system supporting the functioning of a company providing training services.

W artykule omówiona została analiza przyczyn i skutków wad w procesie logistycznym dostawy surowców, zgodnie z wytycznymi podręcznika referencyjnego AIAG. Przedstawiono mapę analizowanego procesu i zidentyfikowano czynniki wpływające na proces. Zgodnie z przyjętymi kryteriami oceny wyliczono liczbę priorytetową ryzyka dla zdiagnozowanych niezgodności i zaproponowano działania korygujące celem ograniczenia wielkości ryzyka.
The article discussed the analysis of the causes and effects of defects in the selected logistics process. It showed the process map and identified the factors influencing the process. It established evaluation criteria and calculated the risk priority number for the diagnosed failures. It proposed corrective actions to reduce the size of the risk.

Opracowanie dotyczy analizy i w jej wyniku doskonalenia, procesu zarządzania opakowaniami zwrotnymi od klientów w dużym przedsiębiorstwie, zajmującym się produkcją uszczelnień karoseryjnych do samochodów oraz produkcją pasów transmisyjnych dla branży motoryzacyjnej i AGD. Przedstawiono problemy zidentyfikowane w firmie w zakresie gospodarki opakowaniowej i zaproponowano projekt doskonalenia, obejmujący między innymi wdrożenie metody 5S oraz systemu Kanban. Rozwiązania pokazane w artykule na przykładzie wybranego studium przypadku, mogą zostać zaadoptowane przez inne podmioty gospodarcze, borykające się z podobnymi problemami w analizowanym zakresie.
The study concerns the analysis and as a result of its improvement, the process of managing returnable packaging from customers in a large enterprise, dealing in the production of car body seals for cars and the production of transmission belts for the automotive industry and household appliances. Problems identified in the company in the field of packaging management were presented and an improvement project was proposed, including implementation of the 5S method and the Kanban system. The solutions shown in the article on the example of a selected case study may be adopted by other business entities struggling with similar problems in the analyzed scope.
