Multisided, digital platforms attract considerable attention in business and academic circles. Seven out of the ten most valuable companies in the world derive much of their value from multisided platforms. The problem of defining and measuring value remains a major challenge in management literature. In this paper I analyze the relationship between the sales (revenue) and market capitalization of companies with digital platform business models. Data was used from a sample of 19 companies that used platform business models in 2017. To assess the correlation, Pearson correlation coefficient was applied. The results indicate that there was a significant positive relationship between revenue and market capitalization in 2017. This suggests that revenue may be used as the main variable in the valuation of companies using platform business models. The results point to future research problems that may be addressed using casebased methodology.

W artykule przedstawiono analizę porównawczą platform e-learningowych. Do analizy wybrano dwa typy platform: open source oraz komercyjne. Szczególną uwagę zwrócono na oferowane przez nie funkcjonalności oraz sposób obsługi przez nauczycieli akademickich. Ponadto w opracowaniu uwzględniono wyniki przeprowadzonej ankiety wśród nauczycieli akademickich czterech wybranych uczelni.
The article presents a comparative analysis of e-learning platforms. For the analysis selected two types of platforms: open source and commercial. Particular attention has been paid to the functionality offered by them. In addition, the study takes into account the results of the survey among teachers in four selected schools.

The aim of this analysis is to examine the characteristics of the Airbnb network, to verify the share of Airbnb offers that belong to the sharing economy and to identify the differences between the spatial distribution of the Airbnb network and the traditional hotel industry. The article is based on a unique dataset of web-scraped data on Airbnb listings in Warsaw (Poland), combined with district-level official statistics on the hotel industry. The analysis shows that only approximately 11% of offers belong to the sharing economy (“individuals granting each other temporary access to their under-utilised assets”), while at least one third of offers are provided by professional firms. The Airbnb network shows a strong centre-periphery pattern, with 75% of offers located within a range of 4.3 kilometres from the centre. The spatial concentration of Airbnb offers is strongly driven by their distance from metro lines, while it is weakly related to the amount of living space. On the district-level, the spatial distribution of Airbnb listings is correlated with that of the hotel industry, although Airbnb contributes to a more even spread of tourism in the city. The major contribution of this analysis is its presentation of the size and characteristics of the platform, which is essential for data-driven policy making.

The aim of the article is firstly, to present the basic issues related to crowdfunding, and, secondly, to analyze the activities of the crowdfunding market in Poland and in the world. The main assumption of crowdfunding is the fact that community members combine their financial resources through a  cooperation network in order to support all kinds of projects initiated by individuals and organizations. Financing by crowdfunding is dynamically developing world-wide, this phenomenon is also present in Poland. Crowdfunding platforms functioning in this country are the subject of growing interest of internet users and participate in an increasing number of projects. Regrettably, legal solutions in Poland have a  restrictive impact on the development of crowdfunding, which certainly requires open public debate.
Celem artykułu jest, po pierwsze, przedstawienie podstawowych kwestii związanych z  crowdfundingiem i  po drugie, analiza aktywności na rynku crowdfundingu na świecie oraz w  Polsce. Głównym założeniem crowdfundingu jest fakt, że członkowie społeczności poprzez wspólną sieć współpracy łączą swoje finansowe zasoby, aby wspierać różnego rodzaju projekty, zainicjowane przez osoby indywidualne i  organizacje. Finansowanie poprzez crowdfunding rozwija się bardzo dynamicznie w  skali światowej; fenomen ten nie omija również Polski. Funkcjonujące w  naszym kraju platformy crowdfundingu cieszą się coraz większym zainteresowaniem internautów i  angażują się w  coraz większą liczbę projektów. Rozwiązania prawne funkcjonujące w  Polsce niestety ograniczają rozwój crowdfundingu, co z  pewnością wymaga otwartej publicznej debaty.

W próbie scharakteryzowania modelu X-as-a-Service autor przyjmuje perspektywę piracką. Zakłada bowiem, że dopóki trwają pirackie azyle, dopóty niebezpieczny ruch nowego grodzenia nie zostanie zwieńczony pełnym sukcesem.
The author incorporates pirate metaphors into the story of contemporary Western capitalist hegemony. He suggests that the activities of Bay Network users, like the pirate practices of the 17th and 18th centuries, represent a subversive opposition to capitalism. Rentier capitalism profits not only from physical and financial property but also from intellectual property (including access to cultural goods). Although global corporations and economic giants promise to support creators, their main goal is to capture value from streaming portals. The article reports on the tensions that exist between the pirates and the digital platform owners. What is the biggest obstacle to companies continuing to grow and build wealth? In trying to characterize the X-as-a-Service model, the author takes a pirate’s perspective. He assumes that as long as pirate asylums exist, the dangerous new enclosure movement will not be crowned with complete success.

Purpose – The aim of the article is to indicate the role and importance of acceleration platforms in stimulating the development of the start-up market in Poland, on the example of the Smart-Lab incubation and acceleration platform, as a part of the “e-Pionier” project implemented from EU funds under the “Polska Cyfrowa” Program. Research method – The research methods are: analysis and synthesis, induction and deduction, desk research, case study. Results – Five MVPs (Minimum Viable Products) were obtained, constituting an original, innovative Smart-Lab Project solution in response to particular socio-economic problems reported by local government units. Originality /value / implications /recommendations – The article highlights the issues of the start-up market and the role of acceleration platforms in stimulating the development of this market, as part of the perceived need for a wider analysis of this kind of research problem.

This work concerns online streaming platforms centered on broadcasting video games-related content, such as Twitch.tv and Douyu.com. The aim of this article is two-fold: first, to point out the possible research methods regarding online streaming services as mediums for video game criticism, and second, to assess the potential of these platforms for generating critical discourse about video games. The methodology of the research is based on Mia Consalvo’s take on paratextual frameworks and Veli-Matti Karhulahti’s notions of interview and play frames regarding the activity of video games streaming. In this article, the initial characterization of Twitch.tv and Douyu.com is followed by an analysis on how the work of streamers as content creators can influence the reception of video games. Afterwards, a reading of analyzed phenomena based on paratextual framework is proposed. The last section juxtaposes the initial findings with the perspective of changing viewership figures in relation to selected ludic properties of games. In conclusion, it is stated that the analyzed streaming platforms reflect the proliferating crowdsource trends in the video game industry, with forms of interacting with the product at various stages of its development cycle establishing new practices of talking in and about video games.

W artykule omówione zostały kwestie, dotyczące istoty i rodzajów cyfrowych platform technologicznych, jak również obszarów ich wykorzystywania w ramach logistyki. Przy tym scharakteryzowano wybrane spośród takich platform, pokazując ich funkcjonalności oraz korzyści, jakie mogą być generowane dzięki nim. W pewnych kwestiach powołano się na wyniki badań własnych. W artykule dowiedziono, że cyfro-we platformy technologiczne są na szeroką skalę stosowane w logistyce, w tym między innymi w ramach działalności, związanej ze sterowaniem ruchem, czy optymalizowaniem realizacji procesów logistycznych. Generują przy tym liczne korzyści, w tym redukcję kosztów i wzrost zysków oraz zwiększenie poziomu konkurencyjności, wynikające na przykład z ograniczenia tzw. pustych przebiegów czy wzrostu sprawności realizacji procesów transportowych i magazynowych.
The article discusses issues regarding the nature and types of digital technology platforms, as well as areas of their use in logistics. In this case, they characterized selected from a platform, showing the features and advantages that may be generated by it. In some issues reference was made to the results of own research. The article proved that digital technology platforms are widely used in logistics, including but not limited to activities related to traffic control or optimization of logistics processes. At the same time, they generate numerous benefits, including reduction of costs and increase of profits as well as increasing the level of competitiveness, resulting, for example, from the reduction of so-called empty runs or increased efficiency in the implementation of transport and storage processes.

The paper discusses the rules of organizing flights to offshore installations in the wide aspect of safety of passenger and cargo transport by air. The study, analysis the institutions responsible for the safety and organization of air transport, with particular emphasis on the work carry out on the British Shelf and the Baltic Sea. In addition, selected requirements for helicopters, air operators and offshore installations, in particular landing area, equipment and installations readiness to take the helicopter were presented in terms of on board, along with operational procedures for ensuring safety and flight organization.

Research background: According to the World Bank (2020), about 60% of adults in developing countries do not use formal financial services. Furthermore, according to the Polish Association of Loan Institutions (2022), about 3 million Poles use loans, most of them obtained online. Among the reasons for more than a decade of growth of interest in the non-bank consumer lending market there are the development of modern technology applications in finance and the establishment of the Lendtech sector. Purpose of the article: The main goal of the paper is to verify the role played by the Lendtech (LT) sector in the consumer credit market in the context of household financial exclusion. The following research questions were asked: Do credit-excluded households take advantage of LT services and, if so, to what extent? What are the behaviours and preferences of those who use consumer credit offered by LT? Do socio-demographic characteristics determine consumer use of loans offered by LT and, if so, what are they? Is the use of loans offered by LT due to credit exclusion or other factors? What action should be taken by participants in the digital consumer loan market interested in its inclusive direction? Methods: The paper uses the following methods: critical analysis of the literature, Kruskal-Wallis test, Mann-Whitney test, and nonparametric regression algorithm: k-nearest neighbors, as well as inductive inference methods. The data used is primary in nature and comes from a nationwide survey, September 2022 (CAWI method) of 1,200 Poles, of whom 200 respondents are Lendtech customers. The quota selection applied made it possible to reflect characteristics corresponding to the population of customers of lending institutions registered in BIK databases. Findings & value added: The article is a pioneering study based on an independent scientific survey, devoted to the Polish LT services market considered in terms of its relationship with one of the types of financial exclusion: credit exclusion. The most important conclusion is that people at risk of credit exclusion find a financing substitute in the LT sector, and thus it plays an important role in reducing financial exclusion, while maintaining the principle of creditworthiness verification.

Crowdfunding is a type of financing that is popular not only among entrepreneurs. There are examples of financing sport, culture, music or just someone’s dreams, and many good projects could not have been realized without crowdfunding. The analysis of the largest projects realized on one of the Poland’s oldest and biggest Polish crowdfunding platform – polakpotrafi.pl will be made in the article. It will be the background to formulate some conclusions about the initiatives supported by reward-based crowdfunding platforms. It can be hypothesized that crowdfunding in Poland is developing rapidly but the value and number of projects is still lower than in Western Europe countries and the USA. The research methods used in the article are primarily a statistical and comparative method and case study analysis. The data from the European Commission, the World Bank and crowdfunding platforms will be used.

Sharing economy was supposed to be a phenomenon leading to a reform of the socio-economic system. However, monetization of work performed by online communities collaborating towards creation and maintenance of portals such as Uber and Airbnb triggered the formation of a model of capitalism which rests upon the idea of corporation as a broker in transactions between individual providers and the recipients of services. The adverse effects of "platform capitalism", i.e., excessive concentration of ownership and relaxation of employment, have led to a countermovement, namely platform cooperativism. This article analyses the phenomenon of platform cooperativism, that is, the movement which aims at revising the current direction of the development of sharing economy by suggesting an alternative, socially-distributed ownership and management model. In order to achieve that, we expose the main tensions accompanying the expansion of sharing economy which is interpreted as a "double movement" in Karl Polanyi's terminology, or public opposition to the commodification of further spheres of social life. We contend that the tensions between corporate sharing economy and platform cooperatives touch upon issues critical to economic theory, such as the boundaries of work, management and profit distribution, as well as the meaning of innovation.
