The paper presents the idea of the possibility of implementing automatic virtual instrument using the quasi ˗ balanced method to measure the active component of impedance (resistance). The system is based on the structure of a non-bridge quasi-balanced circuit. The process of balancing is automatically performed. This meter has been built based on the data acquisition board NI USB-6251 from National Instruments and programming environment LabVIEW. Signal processing is made in an algorithmic way. The measurement of the phase angle is based on short-term Fourier transform. The results of preliminary experimental research are presented in the paper.

This paper presents automatic test bench used for measurement of selected high frequency parameters of a power copper line. The aim is fast estimation of line behavior in context of Power Line Communication (PLC). The hardware interface uses sinusoidal waveform generator, digital oscilloscope and a PC-class computer. The software interface created in LabVIEW environment performs signal processing and data presentation.

In a three-dimensional measurement system based on a digital light processing projector and a camera, a height estimating function is very important. Sinusoidal fringe patterns of the projector are projected onto the object, and the phase of the measuring point is calculated from the camera image. Then, the height of the measuring point is inferred by the phase. The phase-to-height relationship is unique at each image point. However it is nonlinearly different according to the image coordinates. It is also difficult to obtain the geometrical model because of lens distortion. Even though some studies have been performed on neural network models to find the height from the phase and the related coordinates, the results are not good because of the complex relationship. Therefore, this paper proposes a hybrid method that combines a geometric analysis and a neural network model. The proposed method first finds the phase-to-height relationship from a geometric analysis for each image pixel, and then uses a neural network model to find the related parameters for the relationship. The experimental results show that the proposed method is superior to previous neural network methods.

W niniejszym referacie przedstawiona została teoria i praktyka pomiaru różnicy faz sygnałów napięciowych za pomocą częstościomierza-czasomierza cyfrowego. Szczególną uwagę zwrócono na czynniki mające bezpośredni wpływ na wartość i niepewność wyniku pomiaru oraz zapro-ponowano sposób zminimalizowania ich wpływu. W efekcie uzyskano zweryfikowane i spójne wyniki pomiaru różnicy faz sygnałów napięciowych wykonanych za pomocą częstościomierza-czasomierza, w pełni wykorzystując dużą precyzję pomiaru czasu.
In this paper, we present the theory and practical aspects of phase measurements of voltage signals with usage of universal time and frequency counter. Special attention is turned to the factors which influence directly the final value and uncertainty of measurement's result. We propose a method of reducing their influence. As a result, we obtain verified and consistent results of phase measurements of voltage signals performed with a universal time and frequency counter, using to the full its high precision for time measurements.

W referacie przedstawione zostanie stanowisko laboratoryjne do pomiaru podstawowych parametrów obwodu trójfazowego. Stanowisko jest wyposażone w różnorodne przetworniki i analizator sieci. Zastosowane mierniki i przetworniki pomiarowe są produkcji firmy LUMEL. Klasa dokładności tych przyrządów wynosi 0,5. Są one przeznaczone do pomiarów zarówno sygnałów sinusoidalnych jak i niesinusoidalnych. Zastosowane w stanowisku obciążenie pomiarowe (rezystancyjnoindukcyjne) umożliwia nastawę obciążenia zarówno symetrycznego jak i niesymetrycznego. Omawiane stanowisko umożliwia prezentację różnych problemów związanych z pomiarami parametrów sieci elektroenergetycznej trójfazowej uatrakcyjniając tym samym proces dydaktyczny. Można bowiem przedstawić wszystkie układy do pomiaru mocy czynnej i biernej w układach trójfazowych. Opis i działanie stanowiska zilustrowano wynikami przeprowadzonych pomiarów, zestawionych w tabeli.
The paper presents laboratory stand use for measurement the basic electrical parameters of three-phase network. The stand is equipped in different meters, industrial converters and network analyzer. All used meters and converters are produced by LUMEL Company. Accuracy class of those instruments is 0,5. They can operate in network with sinusoidal and non-sinusoidal signals. The measurements load, used on the stand, enables to adjust the symmetric and asymmetric load. The laboratory stand can be used to demonstrate different problems, connected with measurement basic parameters of three-phase network. The stand also can be used in didactical process – it is possible to preset all schematic diagrams, used in three-phase systems, for measurement active and reactive power. Description and operation of the laboratory stand is illustrated by obtained measurement results, presented in the table.

In recent years, kernel methods have provided an important alternative solution, as they offer a simple way of expanding linear algorithms to cover the non-linear mode as well. In this paper, we propose a novel recursive kernel approach allowing to identify the finite impulse response (FIR) in non-linear systems, with binary value output observations. This approach employs a kernel function to perform implicit data mapping. The transformation is performed by changing the basis of the data In a high-dimensional feature space in which the relations between the different variables become linearized. To assess the performance of the proposed approach, we have compared it with two other algorithms, such as proportionate normalized least-meansquare (PNLMS) and improved PNLMS (IPNLMS). For this purpose, we used three measurable frequency-selective fading radio channels, known as the broadband radio access Network (BRAN C, BRAN D, and BRAN E), which are standardized by the European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI), and one theoretical frequency selective channel, known as the Macchi’s channel. Simulation results show that the proposed algorithm offers better results, even in high noise environments, and generates a lower mean square error (MSE) compared with PNLMS and IPNLMS.

Most systems used in quantum physics experiments require the efficient and simultaneous recording different multi-photon coincidence detection events. In such experiments, the single-photon gated counting systems can be applicable. The main sources of errors in these systems are both instability of the clock source and their imperfect synchronization with the excitation source. Below, we propose a solution for improvement of the metrological parameters of such measuring systems. Thus, we designed a novel integrated circuit dedicated to registration of signals from a photon number resolving detectors including a phase synchronizer module. This paper presents the architecture of a high-resolution (~60 ps) digital phase synchronizer module cooperating with a multi-channel coincidence counter. The main characteristic feature of the presented system is its ability to fast synchronization (requiring only one clock period) with the measuring process. Therefore, it is designed to work with various excitation sources of a very wide frequency range. Implementation of the phase synchronizer module in an FPGA device enabled to reduce the synchronization error value from 2.857 ns to 214.8 ps.

This paper presents an innovative method for measuring the time delay of ultrasonic waves. Pulse methods used in the previous studies was characterized by latency. The method of phase correlation, presented in this article is free from this disadvantages. Due to the phase encoding with the use of Walsh functions the presented method allows to obtain better precision than previous methods. The algorithm to measure delay of the reflected wave with the use of microprocessor ARM Cortex M4 linked to a PC has been worked out and tested. This method uses the signal from the ultrasonic probe to precisely determine the time delay, caused by the propagation in medium, possible. In order to verify the effectiveness of the method a part of the measuring system was implemented in LabVIEW. The presented method proved to be effective, as it is shown in presented simulation results.

In order to achieve higher frequency measurement accuracy, this paper proposed a characteristic pulse detection method of fuzzy area based on the quantized phase processing method of different frequency groups. First, the fuzzy area of the group phase coincidence points continuously moved on the time axis after passing through delay elements. The moving distance, that is, the number of the delay elements was determined by the main clock cycle of the D flip-flop. After that, three groups of phase coincidence detection fuzzy areas in different positions were sent to the digital logic module to extract the edge pulses of the phase coincidence detection fuzzy area. The pulse width is determined by the difference between the clock cycles of the delay elements. The clock cycles of different delay units were adjusted to obtain nanosecond or even picosecond circuit detection resolution. Finally, the pulses generated at the edge of the phase coincidence fuzzy area are taken as the switching signal of the frequency signal counter, so the stability of the gate signal and the accuracy of the gate time measurement are improved. The experimental results show that frequency stability can reach the order of E–13/s. In addition, compared with the traditional measurement method, it is characterized by simple structure, low cost, low noises, and high measurement resolution.

Artykuł jest propozycją rozwiązania problemu budowy wielokanałowego szybkiego systemu akwizycji danych. System zaprojektowano, jako jednostkę monitującą, rejestrującą dane przez wiele godzin. Nowatorskie w tym podejściu jest zastosowanie 3 połączonych ze sobą systemów, FPGA, systemu czas rzeczywistego RT oraz komputer klasy PC. Połączenie to zapewniło dużą częstotliwość próbkowania, przy długim czas monitorowania danych. Zbudowano system, który umożliwia 8 kanałowy 16 bitowy pomiar z częstotliwością próbkowania 200Ksps.
The paper presents a device which is a solution to the problem of fast, long term, simultaneous measurements of energetic values. The system is designed for monitoring 3-phase voltage and current values of the tested load. It consists of tree autonomic devices: FPGA, a real - time platform and a PC computer. This rare combination enables recording fast-distortion signals caused by switching or failure of a part of the power network. This is possible by using high speed acquisition in FPGA. The measured signals are stored on a hard disk with support of a real time operating system. To simplify the user control, all system commands, indicators and preview of the measured signal are sent by a TCP-IP protocol to the PC computer used to control all processes. The introduction is presented in Section 1. The requirements and limitations of the project are specified in Section 2. The hardware used in the project is described in Section 3 divided in Subsection 3.1 which describes the industrial platform PXI and Subsection 3.2 presenting the FPGA data acquisition card. The IDE which was used to develop the system is described in Section 4. Section 5 deals with the work of the system and connection between the devices. Subsection 5.1 is focused on the operating system on PXI, Subsection 5.2 presents the idea of two operating systems, Subsection 5.3 describes the application on the acquisition FPGA - card, Subsection 5.4 presents the idea of a multi thread application of PXI and Subsection 5.5 describes the control-application on PC. In Section 6 there is presented an example of the measured signals. Section 7 contains the conclusions.

An improved deflectometry for wavefront measurement using a composite fringe is proposed to reduce the projection fringes and improve the accuracy. The single composite fringe contains four fringes in different directions. It goes through the tested objects and then is captured by a CCD camera. Two high frequency orthogonal fringe patterns and two single period orthogonal fringe patterns can be obtained from the composite fringe by fast Fourier transform. The unwrapping of the wrapped phase of the high frequency fringe is accomplished by the corresponding single period fringe using a heterodyne method. The wavefront is reconstructed by the integration of partial derivatives. Using only one fringe, the proposed method is more applicable to dynamic wavefront measurement. The experimental results demonstrate that the proposed method can retrieve the complex wavefronts more accurately.

During the construction of soil-shell objects, large deformations of the shell, which is made of corrugated metal sheet, occur. This enables geodetic techniques to be used when monitoring such objects. On this basis, displacements of selected points of the shell are determined, and it is then possible to obtain bending moments, as shown in this paper. Based on measurements using strain gauges in the circumferential band of the shell, internal forces in steel are estimated. The algorithm given in the paper enables the impact of soil on the shell in the examined objects to be analysed. The proposed method of analysing forces in the contact layer becomes especially useful when the static conditions of the model of a shell, which is considered as a bar submerged unilaterally in the soil medium, are met. The paper indicates the possibility of using both measuring techniques. Calculations include a smaller share of axial forces on the contact impact during the laying phase of the backfill. The paper provides examples of the analysis of built shells and record-breaking objects, with an assessment of the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm. Good mapping of contact forces, which were calculated on the basis of bending moments, was indicated even when there was not a dense grid of measuring points. An important advantage of the algorithm involves reduction of the circumferential band that is separated from the soil-shell system to the bar, which is an element resulting from the division of the structure into subsystems.

An on-line phase measurement profilometry based on improved Stoilov’s algorithm is proposed to measure the 3D shape of moving object. While only one frame sinusoidal grating is projected on the moving object, the equal phase-shifting step deformed patterns modulated by profile of the measured object can be captured at every equivalent moving distance of the measured object instead of digital phase-shifting. Stoilov’s algorithm is an equal phase-shifting step algorithm at an arbitrary phase-shifting step, which is suitable for on-line phase measurement profilometry. However, the arbitrary phase-shifting step of Stoilov’s algorithm depends on the captured deformed patterns, in which the digitized errors of digital light projector or CCD camera, and the disturbance of surrounding light could be introduced, it will lead to some abnormities in wrapped phase, such as the denominator in Stoilov’s algorithm could be zero, which could cause the reconstructed 3D profile of the measured object appear burr, distortion or aberration, even could not be reconstructed. So an on-line phase measurement profilometry based on improved Stoilov’s algorithm is proposed. The arbitrary phase-shifting step is retrieved by both pixel matching and fringe cycle calibration rather than the captured deformed patterns. Experiments verify the feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed on-line phase measurement profilometry.

The paper presents a wideband nine-port reflectometer realized as a cascade connection of six- and five-port reflectometers. It is shown that such a solution allows for a convenient adjustment of circuits’ parameters in order to provide significantly reduced measurement uncertainty with respect to other reported reflectometers. Simultaneously, the proposed network features a simple and flexible design. For the experimental verification, the proposed nine-port reflectometer has been manufactured and incorporated into the system intended for reflection coefficient measurements within the frequency range 2.5 - 3.5 GHz. The obtained results are in an excellent agreement with the values measured using a commercial VNA.

The paper describes a method for estimating the parameters of the model of a power line by using a pair of phasor measurement units, developed by the author. It describes a three-phase model of a power system element, a derivative of the single-phase model commonly used in power flow estimation applications. The model being proposed describes – independently for each phase – parameters such as shunt self-admittance, shunt trans-admittance and series admittance. By using measurements obtained from a pair on phasor measurement units installed on both ends of a power line, all parameters of the model being described can be estimated.
W publikacji zaprezentowano autorską metodę wyznaczania parametrów modelu linii elektroenergetycznej na podstawie wskazań dwóch urządzeń PMU (ang. phasor measurement unit). Autor zaproponował użycie trójfazowego modelu pojedynczego elementu SEE (system elektroenergetyczny) jako rozwinięcie powszechnie stosowanego w obliczeniach rozpływu mocy modelu jednofazowego. W modelu uwzględniono, niezależnie dla każdej fazy, takie elementy jak: admitancje poprzeczne własne i wzajemne (poprzeczne) oraz admitancje podłużne.
