Over the past four decades of research on school bullying have produced an extensive body of knowledge about the nature of this phenomenon, its determinants and consequences. Bullying has been examined and explained in individual as well as in contextual terms, and from a wide range of different theories and research methods. In the literature, it can be found some attempts to sort out scientific approaches to bullying.In this article, which should be treated as review-style essay, I will present two complementary approaches to analyzing school bullying, namely (1) person-oriented analytical approach which focuses on analyzing of individual traits and characteristics of children involved in school bullying, and (2) processual analytical approach that emphasizes the processes involved. These approaches were distinguished based on the review of Polish and foreign literature on school bullying.

Research on the adulthood of people with disabilities is still scarce. In the article the results of a qualitative research project involving the use of three individual, indepth semistructured interviews and a narrative analysis approach are presented. The authors show the everyday life of adults with disabilities, which is not thrown into the scheme, because it distances itself from stereotypes. Positive self-perception of these people – depicted in narratives – is visible in their perception of adulthood, which is implemented in the same way as in the case of the able-bodied, so that’s the adulthood with prospects of self-realization. Difficulties implied by disability become insignificant.

The paper discusses issues of taking different perspectives and attributing mental states. The main focus is on the criteria of their adequate ascription. Taking another’s perspective and simulation theory are taken into consideration. The paper considers the results of research on the development of the ability to differentiate perspectives and disorders of this ability in borderline personality disorder. The ability to differentiate one’s own and others’ mental states has been presented as an aspect of social cognition that enables adequate mentalization, by accepting the presence of various perspectives and the possibility of the coexistence of various representations of reality.

Europeanization is not a new term, but only throughout the recent two decades it has turned into a notion very frequently used in social science. It seems there are two reasons for its success: (1) the intensification of European integration in the late 1980's and (2) the development of the conceptual studies on Europeanization. Numerous theoretical approaches elaborated under the term have stimulated its popularity, yet they have also raised a critical question on the empirical usefulness of the broadly and vaguely defined concept. In the article the concept of Europeanization is taken under scrutiny. Recently developed multiple attitudes to Europeanization are critically discussed and presented with reference to the broader body of the literature on European integration. The considerations end with a short revision of possible empirical usages of the popular term in Polish context. This aim has been triggered by a shortage of references to the widely discussed concept in Polish literature. Polish debate on repercussions of the membership in the European Union may be significantly enriched by a thoughtful reference to the popular, even though controversial concept. Being aware of its shortcomings we can make a better use of its advantages.

Since the Declaration of Salamanca and the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, we have moved to an inclusive paradigm with regard to school. Mainstream schooling has become the rule. Thus, teachers in regular classes must work with all students, including those with special educational needs. It is not easy; many teachers face dilemmas in accommodating all types of students in the same classroom. This conceptual paper proposes a framework based on Mezirow’s transformative learning for understanding the transformations in teacher pedagogy needed to work in an inclusive school. It can be used as a basis for developing training mechanisms to support teachers in their transformation to work in an inclusive school.

Research on temporal comparison has shown that people dissociate themselves from their past to attain a positive self view. Social comparison research has demonstrated that the distinctness of contextually activated information determines whether a recalled self exerts assimilation or contrast effects on the current self. However, hardly any study addressed individual differences. Also, very little is known about whether the ease or difficulty to date past events and experiences influences current self-judgments. We present a new scale capturing the degree of the current self time extension. Three studies support the notion that temporal self-extension determines how past selves are accessed and processed, regarding both the abstractness with which self-knowledge is retrieved and the experienced temporal distance to the past. These findings have important implications for temporal as well as social comparison processes.

This paper presents the theoretical and methodological analysis of mediatization understood as (1) the process of social transformation effected by media changes, and interrelated with other social processes, (2) and as the area of studies. Mediatization seems to be one of the most stable, capacious, and significant concept in last twenty years. Its influence on sociology, media and communication studies, and cultural studies, is substantial and followed by strong critique. Hence, the main goal of this paper is an up-to-date analysis of mediatization from theoretical and methodological perspectives. In three consecutive parts I analyse the historical phases, dominant theoretical and research perspectives, and methodological perceptions of mediatization. In this inquiry I argue that: (1) historical and spatial mediatization studies need to be developed in more complex way; (2) from dominant mediatization perspectives the institutional approach is one of the most theoretically and methodologically elaborated, (3) mediatization is in pre-paradigm phase in terms of scientific evolution, (4) critical mediatization studies should emerge, since mediatization analyses tend to neglect the economy as an important part of transformation processes.

Jednoznaczne definiowanie pojęcia dobrostan jest bardzo trudne ze względu na złożoność tego konstruktu. Wiele badań wskazuje, że dobrostan psychiczny jest wielowymiarowym zjawiskiem, które łączy w sobie aspekty zarówno koncepcji hedonistycznych, jak i eudajmonistycznych. Jednocześnie dobrostan psychiczny traktowany jest jako wskaźnik adaptacji jednostki do różnych wydarzeń krytycznych czy kryzysowych (Ryff, 2014, 2017; Sieber et al., 2006). Celem artykułu jest w pierwszej kolejności: prezentacja wybranych koncepcji dobrostanu psychicznego zarówno w ujęciu hedonistycznym, jak i eudajmonistycznym. W drugiej kolejności: przedstawienie wyników badań dobrostanu w grupach osób doświadczających różnego rodzaju kryzysów normatywnych i nienormatywnych. Porównania poziomu dobrostanu przeprowadzone zostały w następujących grupach: ojcowie oczekujący narodzin dziecka (N = 46); osoby dorosłe pozostające w związkach małżeńskich i kohabitacyjnych (N = 109); kobiety chorujące na nowotwór (N = 66); rodzice dzieci z zespołem Downa (N = 127); kobiety spodziewające się dziecka (N = 137); rodzice dzieci rehabilitowanych (N = 58); osoby po rozwodzie (N = 158). W prezentowanych badaniach wykorzystano dane socjodemograficzne oraz Oksfordzki Kwestionariusz Szczęścia Hillsa i Argyle’a (2002), który w polskiej adaptacji (Kołodziej-Zaleska, and Przybyła-Basista, 2018) ma dwuczynnikową strukturę: satysfakcja z życia i poczucie siły (pierwszy czynnik) oraz poczucie sensu i kontroli (drugi czynnik).
The concept of well-being is very difficult to define because of its complexity. Many studies indicate that psychological well-being is a multidimensional phenomenon. At the same time, psychological well-being is treated as an indicator of the individual's adaptation to various critical or crisis life events (Ryff, 2014, 2017; Sieber et al., 2006). Integrated „conceptualizations” of well-being combine presence of hedonic and eudaimonic well-being components. The purpose of the article is to give an overview of selected theoretical concepts of well-being in both hedonic and eudaimonic perspectives and to present research results on well-being in groups of people experiencing various types of normative and non-normative crises. Comparisons of well-being was carried out in the following groups: expectant fathers (N = 46); marriages (N = 52) and cohabitants (N = 57); women with cancer (N = 66); parents of children with Down's syndrome (N = 127); women in pregnancies (N = 137); parents of rehabilitated children (N = 58); people after divorce (N = 158) and people in new close relationship after divorce (N = 80); In this study the Polish adaption of the Oxford Happiness Questionnaire (Hills, and Argyle, 2002) and the demographic data were used. OHQ-23 in Polish version has a two-factor structure comprising the life satisfaction and sense of power (factor 1) and the sense of purpose and control (factor 2).

This study investigates the perspectives of young women with disabilities in Jordan, focusing on their self-regulation. 16 young women, aged 18-22, with visual (VI), hearing (HI) impairments and physical disability (PD), were recruited using a snowballing technique. Data were collected using semi-structured interviews, which were analysed thematically. Two main themes emerged where findings show that disability affects self-regulation where there was an overlap between local cultural perspectives in understanding disability of young women, disability and gender in understanding self-regulation of women with disabilities. Disability and gender also influence women with disabilities self-regulation with respect to self-learning, setting goals, self-evaluation, self-monitoring, making decisions and self-reinforcement. Findings will add to the current debate and efforts to understand disabilities in women and lay the groundwork for initiating a campaign in Jordan concentrating on the importance of self-regulation in young women with disabilities.

The time perspective has been the subject of various studies aimed at understanding human behavior.Our goal was to extend the growing literature in this field by studying the role of time perspectives in shaping online behavior among digital natives. 569 digital natives at the tertiary education level completed self-report forms assessing two major processes: time perspectives and online behavior. Adverse time-perspective biases were found to be related to rude, harsh, and distrustful online behavior. Present-oriented people displayed a high amount of online activity, while future-oriented ones showed a more functional approach to Internet use. Pastpositive and past-negative orientations occurred concomitantly with different levels of affability online. We discuss the findings and their limitations, along with suggestions for future research in this field. As it is possible to modify time perspectives, this study may contribute to the development of methods aimed at preventing undesirable online behavior and improving individuals’ well-being.

Prowadzenie gospodarstwa agroturystycznego ma nietypowy, oryginalny charakter, co wynika ze specyfiki prowadzenia gospodarstwa rolnego. Oczekiwania kwaterobiorców przyjeżdżających na wieś są różne. Jedni preferują kulturę regionu, kontakt z przyrodą, inni poznanie tradycji czy pracy na roli. Celem artykułu była ocena stanu rozwoju agroturystyki w kontekście nowych trendów i rozwiązań w krajach UE. Autorki przyjęły założenie, że agroturystyka jest formą wypoczynku, która na rynku turystycznym ma charakter niszowy. Gospodarstwa agroturystyczne w Polsce funkcjonują w przestarzałym modelu rozwoju. Stąd bierze się pilna potrzeba wprowadzenia nowego modelu rozwoju agroturystyki do funkcjonowania gospodarstw agroturystycznych.
Running agrotourism farm has an unusual, original character, which comes from specificity of running farmstead. Expectations of guests coming to countryside are different. Some prefer regional culture, others contact with nature, getting to know local traditions or working on a farm. The goal of the article was to evaluate the state of development of agrotourism in contest of new trends and solutions in EU countries. Authors have taken an assumption that agrotourism is a form of relaxation which has a niche character on touristic market. Agrotourism farms in Poland function in old model of development. This is why there is a great need to introduce new model of agrotourism development into functioning of agrotourism farms.

This article attempts to determine the rules for lawful use of floating objects for residential purposes. It presents the currently existing legal solutions applied in Europe for such floating structures. Further, the article describes a classification of residential floating objects from the legal perspective. The existing regulations are analyzed with regard to the provisions of the Water Law Act and the Inland Navigation Act. Moreover, the paper describes three different types of water usage, i.e. common, ordinary and special, and discusses in which of these forms the residential use of public waters falls. The analysis allows for the determination of the directions of further research, so that an accurate procedure ensuring a lawful use of houseboats can be adopted.

Children’s literature and art activities are not only useful for creativity but also quite functional for education through new understanding in the contemporary perspectives about learning. For instance, philosophy for children is a wide-spread methodology to reveal children’s potentials by building a “community of inquiry” at classrooms. Children’s books and animations can provide a magnificent starting point for those philosophical discussions. However, in many societies, children and young people are still underestimated that the usual point of view about children’s literature used to include ‘softer’ topics, which is likewise to be ‘censored’ compared to literature in general. All products for children have usually function to cultivate new generations according to traditional discourse underlying in society. The essential purpose of this paper is to reveal possibilities to shape traditional discourse into an expanded perspective with children utilizing discussion and critical thinking. It is supposed to analyze the artworks for children in variable ways, by embodying discourse within. In between education and entertainment, cultural products also expected to be age-appropriate. Besides the relation between adult-children distinction and all cultural products, specifically produced ‘for’ children, how children see themselves is directly related to how they interpret cultural products. In this paper, two short animations, Alike, and Ian which were watched together with a group of children in a private secondary school in Istanbul, Turkey, will be analyzed through children’s perspectives, with their expressions.

W roku 2013 rozpoczął się proces zamykania specjalizacji polonistycznej na Uniwersytecie Barcelońskim. Tym samym kończy się ponad trzydziestoletnia historia jej istnienia na uczelni. Pierwsze lektoraty języka polskiego były przedmiotami fakultatywnymi, nauczanymi w ramach specjalizacji slawistycznej, później uzyskały status obowiązkowych w programie kształcenia obowiązującym na filologii słowiańskiej, a następnie w roku 2009 polonistyka stała się osobną specjalizacją oferowaną na kierunku języki i literatury współczesne. W naszym artykule przedstawiamy wybitnych twórców barcelońskiego ośrodka polonistycznego oraz rozwijane przez nich badania literaturoznawcze i językoznawcze. Omawiamy aktualne funkcjonowanie ośrodka na powstałym w roku 2019 „nowym” Wydziale Filologii i Komunikacji. W części końcowej referatu dzielimy się refleksjami dotyczącymi perspektyw rozwoju studiów i badań polonistycznych w kontekście reformy struktury studiów filologicznych w Hiszpanii.
The process of closing the Polish specialization at the University of Barcelona began in 2013. As a consequence, the over thirty-year-long history of its existence at this university is coming to its end. The first Polish language courses were part of the elective teaching offer of the Slavic specialization; next they became a compulsory part of Slavic Philology, and in 2009 Polish specialization was created as part of a degree Modern Languages and Literatures. In their article, Agnieszka Mejnartowicz and Pau Freixa Terradas present the outstanding creators of the Barcelona center and the research fields they have developed within the framework of the literature and linguistic specialization. They discuss the current functioning of the center at the “new” philology department of the University of Barcelona, transformed in 2019 into the Faculty of Philology and Communication. In the final part of the article, they share their reflections on the perspectives for the development of Polish language and research programs in the context of the reform of the structure of philological studies in Spain.
