Opis:
Self-efficacy beliefs can distinctively refer to different spheres of functioning and to different tasks, including entrepreneurial activity. The paper presents development of Entrepreneurial Self-Efficacy Scale (ESES) designed to measure perceived self-efficacy in carrying out tasks aimed at a new venture creation. Psychometric properties of the scale were evaluated on the basis of the data obtained from 315 potential entrepreneurs in a 1-year longitudinal study. Factor analysis of the ESES scores yielded three distinct narrower domains of entrepreneurial self-efficacy pertaining to: (1) gathering marketing information, (2) managing financial and legal matters, and (3) setting up business operations. The scale was shown to have high internal consistency with Cronbach’s alpha = 0.96. The ESES scores were also found to correlate positively with previous entrepreneurial experience and other personality measures, such as General Self-Efficacy Scale (GSES), Self-Esteem Scale (SES), Life Orientation Test (LOT-R) and Adult Dispositional Hope Scale (ADHS). People with an intention to create a new venture scored significantly higher on ESES than those without such an intention, and the level of entrepreneurial intention correlated positively with the ESES scores. All findings of the study suggest that ESES is a reliable and valid measure of entrepreneurial self-efficacy.

Opis:
Background: The aim of the study is to clarify the beliefs and numerous doubts about the possible identification of personality in handwriting. The purpose of the described studies was to show an association between personality traits and handwriting features. The author aimed to verify whether or not there are any specific characteristics of writing in relation to personality traits. | Method: Two different studies have been described. A different number of subjects participated in the investigations and different techniques for personality assessment were used; however, the same set of handwriting features was analyzed in each study. In the first study the NEO-FFI (n=260) was used, while the EPQ-R (n=180) was used in the second study. The graphic characteristics of the handwriting samples were examined by forensic experts. | Results: The correlations between the personality traits and handwriting features were counted. The results showed that there were few significant correlations between handwriting parameters and personality traits, as measured by the NEO-FFI and EPQ-R. | Conclusions: No writing characteristics were specific to personality traits. There is no evidence for assessment of personality on the base of handwriting.

Opis:
Both clinical and theoretical aspects of the problems of people suffering from personality disorders attract researchers’ attention. An attempt to modify the current classification systems confronts scholars with the problems of the uncertain empirical status of the criteria for diagnosing this group of disorders and the imperfection of assessment instruments. The text is an introduction to a volume of articles devoted to personality disorders, particularly to historical and theoretical conceptions of personality disorders, instruments enabling the diagnosis of personality disorders and the assessment of cognitive schemas specific to personality disorders (in the light of both Beck’s cognitive theory and the Young schema theory).

The study is a part of the research on the couching method as a tool for adult personality development related to the managerial potential development. The aim was to find out differences between subjectively and objectively measured levels of managerial potential in a research sample and to compare differences in their positions as managers and non-managers. The study was based on the conception of managerial potential development. The article gives results of the Hogan Personality Inventory (HPI) where the managerial potential was measured in seven competencies. The results were compared with the research sample’s self-assessment in a questionnaire of own design. The finding was that managers achieved better results in objectively measured competencies than in subjectively measured competencies. They scored highest in the objectively measured managerial competence Inquisitive and lowest in the objectively measured managerial competence Adjustment. Candidates achieved better results in objectively measured competencies than in subjectively measured competencies. They scored highest in the objectively measured managerial competence Interpersonal Sensitivity and lowest in the objectively measured managerial competence Adjustment. In subjective self-assessment, managers achieved higher mean scores than candidates in the competence Ambition. Managers, again, scored higher than candidates in subjective assessment of the competence Inquisitive. In subjective assessment, candidates scored highest in the managerial competence Interpersonal Sensitivity and lowest in the managerial competence Learning Approach. There were no statistically significant differences between managers and candidates for managerial positions in the managerial potential.

Opis:
The present study examined the assessment and conceptualization of borderline personality disorder with the Borderline Personality Disorder Checklist (BPD Checklist). The BPD Checklist is a DSM-IV based self-report questionnaire, designed to assess the experienced burden of specific BPD symptoms during the previous month. The participants in the study were 140 BPD patients, 55 Cluster C personality disorder patients, 57 patients with only Axis I psychopathology, and 87 nonclinical controls. The psychometric properties of the BPD Checklist and changes during treatment were assessed. First-order confirmatory factor analyses using the BPD Checklist items on seven dimensional BPD models supported both a one-dimensional BPD model and a nine-dimensional one, the latter based on the DSM-IV criteria. Internal consistency as well as construct, concurrent, and discriminant validity proved to be very good. Clinical norms and cutoff scores with high sensitivity and specificity were derived. The questionnaire is suitable as a scre-ening instrument and treatment outcome measure since it proved to be sensitive to change.

The article provides an overview of the current discussions on personality disorders and their role in the psychological assessment for court. The discussion focused on the following aspects: 1) the difficulties and challenges of diagnosis of personality disorders; 2) the status of personality disorders in psychological assessment for court; 3) the presentation of modern methodology for the diagnosis of personality disorder and 4) interaction of multiple disorders and accuracy of the diagnosis. Despite the fact that personality disorders still constitute the largest group among the disorders diagnosed in offenders they still pose a diagnostic challenge for clinicians. The problem concerns both the diagnostic criteria of the medical models, as well as methods for their evaluation and description. Therefore, the search for methods of more precise and objective assessment of offenders is still needed by the administration of Justice.

Opis:
On the basis of the lack of measurement tools and the research gap regarding social entrepreneurship, three studies were conducted to develop a new measure of social enterprise (SE) performance that is empirically valid and easy to administer. The purpose of this measure was to examine the relationship between entrepreneurs’ personality traits and their perceived SE performance. The results indicated that SE performance can be assessed using four dimensions: personal issues, social aspects, business elements, and service programmes. Extraversion positively influenced service programmes, and openness negatively affected service programmes. Neuroticism and conscientiousness positively predicted personal issues and service programmes, and agreeableness positively predicted all dimensions of perceived SE performance. The results also demonstrated the curvilinear relationship of the U-shaped curve between neuroticism and personal issues and the social aspects of SE performance. Furthermore, the results showed the curvilinear relationship of the inverted U-shaped curve between agreeableness and the four dimensions of SE performance.
