    Regional (economic) resilience and resilient thinking have gained considerable attention in recent years. My aim with this work is to throw light on some of the underlying aspects of regional economic resilience and resilient thinking. In the current study I give an overview of the notion, key concepts, main empirical results and planning tasks concerning regional (economic) resilience as well as outlining some of the criticisms. Finally, I provide some suggestions for studies in resilience and resilient thinking for future research agendas. The main results of the study is my own belief in the concept of regional economic resilience, and an overview and comparison of regional (economic) resilience literature and empirics that lead me to highlight some of the shortcomings of the research topic.

    Based on literature research 38 urban catalysts were chosen and evaluated using 19 parameters. This shows changes of urban catalysts through history. Four different groups of urban catalysts were framed after analyzing them with the SPSS statistics program. The main task of this evaluation was to better understand the origins of urban catalysts, reasons for their interconnectedness and further outcomes, as well as discover a basis for later city fabric modelling. The observed relation between the configuration of the first point and its influence on the surroundings might suggest a strategy for urban planners and architects in attempting to revitalize abandoned territories or bring economic and social changes to the existing neighborhoods in the future.

    This paper provides a historical overview of the case-law and practices applied by the Hungarian Competition Authority (HCA) in abuse of dominance cases. The paper is co-written by practitioners of complementing antitrust fields, which ensures that both legal and economic considerations are explored. The paper identifies the unique characteristics of Hungarian legislation and case-law and critically evaluates them in light of EU competition law and economics principles. We analyse (i) the reasons for the high number of exploitative cases before 2010, (ii) the general principles applied by the HCA in exclusionary cases, (iii) the cost allocation assessments in dominance cases, and (iv) the issue of significant market power of retailers. The general starting point is that, judging by the number of dominance investigations, there is less antitrust enforcement by the HCA in recent years. However, the article concludes that less enforcement does not mean weaker enforcement. In fact, the quality of dominance cases, considering both legal and economic aspects, has increased over time. This tendency has also led to higher legal certainty in Hungary, which is beneficial for market players. Stronger criticism is only formulated against the concept of significant market power of retailers.
    Cet article donne un aperçu historique de la jurisprudence et des méthodes appliquées par l’Autorité hongroise de la concurrence (HCA) dans les affaires d’abus de position dominante. Le document est co-rédigé par des praticiens des domaines complémentaires de l’antitrust, ce qui garantit que les aspects tant juridiques qu’économiques sont explorés. Le document identifie les caractéristiques uniques de la législation et de la jurisprudence hongroises et évalue de manière critique à la lumière des principes du droit de la concurrence et de l’économie de l’UE. Les auteurs analysent (i) les raisons du nombre élevé d’affaires d’exploitation avant 2010, (ii) les principes généraux appliqués par la HCA dans les affaires d’exclusion, (iii) les évaluations de la répartition des coûts dans les affaires de position dominante et (iv) la question du pouvoir de marché significatif des distributeurs. Le point de départ général est que l’application des règles antitrust par la HCA a été plus limitée ces dernières années, à en juger par le nombre d’enquêtes sur les positions dominantes. Toutefois, l’article conclut qu’une application réduite n’est pas synonyme d’une application plus faible. En fait, la qualité des affaires de position dominante, tant du point de vue juridique qu’économique, a augmenté au fil du temps. Cette tendance a également conduit à une plus grande clarté juridique en Hongrie, ce qui est bénéfique pour les acteurs du marché. L’article formule des critiques plus sévères à l’encontre du concept de pouvoir de marché significatif des distributeurs.

    Character segmentation (i.e., splitting the images of handwritten words into pieces corresponding to single letters) is one of the required steps in numerous off-line cursive handwritten word recognition solutions. It is also a very important step, because improperly extracted characters are usually impossible to recognize correctly with currently used methods. The most common method of character segmentation is initial oversegmentation – finding some set of potential splitting points in the graphical representation of the word and then attempting to eliminate the improper ones. This paper contains a list of popular approaches for generating potential splitting points and methods of verifying their correctness.

    Dnia 18 lutego 2017r. po długiej chorobie zmarł prof. dr hab. Piotr Jachowicz, który prawie całe swoje życie był związany ze Szkołą Główną Handlową w Warszawie. Po ukończeniu warszawskiego Liceum Ogólnokształcącego nr IX im. K. Hoffmanowej w październiku 1973 r. rozpoczął studia w Szkole Głównej Planowania i Statystyki na Wydziale Ekonomiki Produkcji. Uczelnię ukończył z wynikiem bardzo dobrym, broniąc pracę magisterską pt. Metodologiczne problemy analizy struktury społecznej, którą przygotował pod kierunkiem prof. Tadeusza Stępnia w Katedrze Nauk Politycznych. W październiku 1979 r. podjął pracę w Szkole Głównej Planowania i Statystyki. Początkowo został zatrudniony na stanowisku asystenta stażysty w Instytucie Nauk Politycznych i Filozofii (Zakład Nauk Politycznych) przy Wydziale Ekonomiczno-Społecznym. Przez kilka kolejnych lat prowadził zajęcia z przedmiotu Podstawy nauk politycznych, jednak rosnące zainteresowanie tematyką historyczną spowodowało, że nawiązał współpracę z Katedrą Historii Gospodarczej i Społecznej SGPiS, gdzie prowadził fakultatywny wykład "Historia polityczna Polski Ludowej" dla studentów Wydziału Ekonomiczno-Społecznego. W październiku 1986r. został pracownikiem Katedry Historii Gospodarczej i Społecznej. Pracował w niej do końca życia, najpierw jako asystent, potem od 1989 r. jako adiunkt, a od 2007 r. profesor SGH.(fragment tekstu)

Tytuł zawodowy magistra ekonomii Anna Żorska uzyskała w 1970 r. po ukończeniu studiów wyższych ekonomicznych na Wydziale Handlu Zagranicznego Szkoły Głównej Planowania i Statystyki w Warszawie. Już w tym okresie zaczęły kształtować się Jej zainteresowania naukowe, których inspiracją były seminaria magisterskie nt. analizy rynków zagranicznych.     Artykuł zawiera ujętą w syntetycznym skrócie panoramę sposobów i metod badania zjawiska tematów wędrownych krążących od dawna i od niedawna w obiegu kultury i sztuki filmowej. Autor opowiada się za eklektycznym, interdyscyplinarnym podejściem do tego zagadnienia, pozwalającym doraźnie wybrać najwłaściwszą z dziedzin i metod badawczych w zależności od stawianych pytań i sposobów podejścia do złożonej problematyki tematów wędrownych. Zaproponowane ujęcie nie oznacza dążenia do osiągnięcia pełnego uniwersalizmu naukowego, ale umożliwia synoptyczne rozpoznanie tego zjawiska w wybranych jego aspektach.
    The article contains a synthesized panorama of means and methods of studying the phenomenon of migratory themes which have been present for longer and shorter periods of time in the context of film art and culture. The author is in favour of an eclectic, interdisciplinary approach to this issue, which will permit one to select the most appropriate discipline and research method depending on the questions asked and ways of approaching the complex subject of migratory themes. The proposed approach does not mean the pursuit of full scientific universality, but enables the synoptic identification of this phenomenon in selected aspects.

    Congenital cholesteatoma is a rare ear disorder. The most common presentation is a pearly and white mass, visible with an intact tympanic membrane in individuals with no previous history of ear discharge, ear surgery or perforation of tympanic membrane. Based on a careful overview of literature, authors of this article present: the most probable theories of the cause of development of congenital cholesteatoma, diagnostic criteria of congenital cholesteatoma, its most common clinical symptoms, preoperative studies, methods of surgical treatments and goals of postoperative proceedings. Furthermore, authors present a comparison of histological, molecular and clinical features of congenital and acquired cholesteatomas.

    Praca prezentuje przegląd historyczny wspólnych wysiłków cywilizacji i pokoleń w poszukiwaniu urządzeń ułatwiających obliczenia – od liczydła (abakus) do maszyny analitycznej Babbage’a (Babbage’s analytical engine) i UNIVACIvon Neu¬mana. Mowa jest też o pierwszych zastosowaniach komputera w projektowaniu architektonicznym – o projektowaniu systemowym widzianym jako „the process of inventing things which display new physical order, organization, form, in response to function” (Alexander, 1964). W Polsce Adam M. Szymski i Stefan Wrona (dziś profesorowie wyższych uczelni) są pionierami stosowania komputera w projektowaniu architektonicznym. Posługiwali się komputerem w końcu lat sześćdziesiątych ubiegłego wieku przyczyniając się do propagacji nowego narzędzia w dydaktyce i praktyce architektury. W latach siedemdziesiątych Szymski badał proces projektowania w aspekcie przyczynowo-skutkowym, mając na uwadze wiedzę z zakresu psychologii i socjologii odnośnie do działań twórczych i towarzyszących im nawyków. Zinwencji Szym¬skiego powstał także pierwszy w Europie program do wykreślania widoków perspektywicznych WIDOK, który jak dotąd pozostaje jedynym tego typu programem, który można stosować z wykorzystaniem kalkulatorów programowych. Chociaż nastąpił rozwój technologii, Szymski i Wrona wciąż przyczyniają się do rozszerzenia wiedzy i umiejętności w posługiwaniu się komputerem w projektowaniu architektonicznym, a ich wkład naukowy i dydaktyczny jest nieoceniony.
    T he paper contains historical overview of the joint efforts of generations and civilizations in the search for devices to facilitate calculations - from the abacus to Babbage’s analytical engine and UNIVAC I by von Neumann. It also is the story about early computer applications in architectural design - system design seen as “the process of inventing things which display new physical order, organization, form, in response to function” (Alexander, 1964). In Poland, Adam M. Szymski and Stefan Wrona (currently, university professors) were pioneers of using the computer in architectural design. They used the computer in the late 60’s of the previous century, contributing to the propagation of a new tool in the teaching and practice of architecture. In the 70’s, Szymski studied the design process in the cause-effect aspect, taking into account the knowledge of psychology and sociology regarding creative activities and accompanying habits. Szymski’s invention resulted in the development of the Europe’s first program to plot perspective views called WIDOK (THE VIE W), which still remains the only program of that type which can be applied using program calculators. Although there has been a development in technology, Wrona and Szymski are still contributing to the expanding of knowledge and skills in using computers in architectural design, and their scientific and didactic contribution is incommensurable.

    Deconstructionism teaches us, that power lies within language, or rather that power decides, what language is supposed to mean. The old question asked in Alice in Wonderland: „Who decides, what words mean?“ builds up to the discrepancy in any language between the individual speaker’s intention and his or her position in the political power hierarchy. In recent decades calls for a more humane language have arisen, giving birth to movements of political correctness in the Western hemisphere, making it an issue of globalisation being fairly paired with left-wing ideology, making everyday conversation a subject of critique, calling for normative changes in language and ultimately facing the same question everywhere: Does it in fact help? This paper will shed light on the empirical linguistic knowledge we possess on the connection between form and content, going back to De Saussure and following the discourse of language and power in an historical manner, thus taking a hard look at the theoretical background of the dynamics of power and language, building a chronology of deconstructivist theorists like Derrida, Foucault, Bourdieu, and Barthes. These theories will be paralleled with the so-called linguistic turn from its beginning to the nowadays so popular Neo-Whorfian approach. Finally the deconstructivist method will be put in contrast to what we know about the connection between language on action following John Austin, circling back to the postmodern discursive approach known in everyday life: The language policing of everyday conversations by individual speakers, representing the deconstructivist movement, comparing it to the empirical data about language and culture, the named and the unnamed, empowerment and the mechanics of language shifting that were subject to studies already more than a hundred years ago, focusing on the shift of meaning and tabooing of vocabulary, dissecting what critics of political correctness call the „euphemism treadmill“, building up to the effects of political correctness we have come to experience so far. The goal is to finally answer the question, whether language policing and the growing public attention to the use of language do have an egalitarian effect on reality.

    Celem artykułu jest zdiagnozowanie sposobów pozyskiwania od mieszkańców wiedzy na temat potrzeb i możliwości rozwoju przestrzennego gminy oraz identyfikacja pryncypiów tego procesu. Na podstawie analizy źródeł wtórnych dokonano przeglądu miejscowych planów zagospodarowania przestrzennego pod względem wykorzystanych działań crowdsourcingowych. W części teoretycznej scharakteryzowano proces crowdsourcingu, prezentując jego genezę, istotę i klasyfikację. Wskazano kluczowe komponenty crowdsourcingu obywatelskiego, istotne w zarządzaniu przestrzennym. W części empirycznej zidentyfikowano wykorzystywane sposoby pozyskiwania wiedzy od mieszkańców, czego podstawą był przegląd miejscowych planów zagospodarowania przestrzennego. W pracy korzystano z następujących metod: analiza piśmiennictwa, wnioskowanie dedukcyjne, analiza i konstrukcja logiczna, przegląd dokumentów lokalnych. Wyniki przeprowadzonych badań pozwoliły na zidentyfikowanie działań crowdsourcingowych wykorzystywanych przy przygotowywaniu miejscowych planów zagospodarowania przestrzennego; są to: forum interaktywne, geoankieta, geodyskusja, konsultacje online, platforma stacja–konsultacja. Crowdsourcing może stanowić źródło wiedzy o potrzebach i wymaganiach mieszkańców w odniesieniu do rozwoju przestrzennego i sposobów rozwiązywania problemów oraz może być środkiem doskonalenia miejscowych planów zagospodarowania przestrzennego.
    The aim of the article is to diagnose ways of acquiring knowledge from residents in terms of the needs and possibilities of spatial development as well as to identify the principles of this process in this area. Local spatial development plans were reviewed in terms of the crowdsourcing methods used, based on the analysis of secondary sources. In the theoretical part, the crowdsourcing process was identified by presenting its genesis, essence and classification. The author pointed out the key components of civil crowdsourcing relevant to spatial management. In the empirical part, the methods of acquiring knowledge from residents were identified by reviewing local spatial development plans. The following methods were used in the manuscript: literature analysis, deductive reasoning, analysis and logical structure, document review. The results of the conducted research identified crowdsourcing methods which are used in the preparation of local spatial development plans, such as interactive forums, geo-questionnaire, geo-discussion, online consultations, the “Stacja-Konsultacja” platform. Crowdsourcing can be a source of knowledge of the needs and requirements of residents with regard to spatial development and can be used to improve local spatial development plans.

    The contemporary international pandemic proved that a flexible approach towards work, trade and healthcare is not only favorable but a must. Hence, the devices enabling home‐rehabilitation became one of the urgent needs of the medical market. The following overview is a part of an R&D project aimed at designing an exoskeleton and developing methods enabling effective home rehabilitation. It contains a comparison of current devices in terms of their kinematics, applications, weights, sizes, and integration with selected ICT technologies. The data is analyzed regarding conclusions from qualitative research, based on in‐depth interviews with physiotherapists and questionnaires organized beforehand. The investigation assesses whether commercial and developed devices enable feedback from a patient by all possible means; hence, if they could allow effective telerehabilitation. Moreover, their capabilities of increasing engagement and accelerating improvements by supervising techniques and measuring biomechanical parameters are evaluated. These outcomes are a base to set the constraints and requirements before designing an exoskeleton dedicated to home treatment.

    Mine gas explosions present a serious safety threat in the worldwide coal mining industry. It has been considered the No.1 killer for underground coal mining workers. The formation of an explosive atmosphere involves various factors. Due to complicated stratified geology and the coal production process, geological conditions and coal production process reasons and particular working sections underground present a high risk of an explosion that would most likely cause casualties and property loss. In this study, the basic conditions, propagation law and hazards analysis of gas explosions are reviewed, followed by a review of the typical locations where an explosion would occur. Finally, current technologies used in the mining industry for preventing gas explosions and suppressing the associated dangers were studied. Preventive gas explosion technologies mainly include gas drainage, gas accumulation prevention and gas and fire source monitoring technologies. The technologies often used to control or mitigate gas explosion hazards are usually divided into active and passive, and the advantages and disadvantages of each method are discussed and compared. This paper aims to summarise the latest technologies for controlling and suppressing gas explosion and guides mining engineers to design risk mitigation strategies.

    In connection with the ongoing celebration of Aristotle’s Year that has been announced by UNESCO, the Poznan Archaeological Reserve – Genius Loci organized a series of lectures “Walks with Aristotle” that refer to the famous name of the Peripatos school. This invitation has been accepted by one of the greatest scholars of Aristotle, Professor Enrico Berti from the University of Padua, who has been publishing for more than 50 years various studies on the philosophy of the Stagirite as well as on the history of philosophy. Recently, his very instructive book, entitled Aristotle’s Profile, has appeared in Polish translation (Poznań 2016). Professor Berti’s presentation provides an overview of his most important achievements. Included in these are his forthcoming works: his new translation and commentary on Aristotle’s Metaphysics as well as his monograph Aristotelismo which reconstructs the diverse interpretations of Aristotle’s doctrines through centuries: from logic to epistemology, from physics to psychology and zoology, from metaphysics to ethics and politics and lastly from rhetoric to poetics.

    The article presents an overview of the geothermal energy applications in Poland from 2019 to May 2021. It covers district heating, balneotherapy, recreation, as well as other single uses and heat pumps (shallow geothermal). In those years, many projects were implemented, especially drillings, aimed at recognition and accessing geothermal resources, primarily for space heating (in individual cases for cogeneration). The implemented investment projects, research and development works, and other activities and initiatives are indicated. The development of geothermal energy in Poland is compared with the progress in other European countries (based on most recent data for 2020, announced in June 2021). The share of geothermal energy in the group of renewable energy sources in Poland is presented. The role of public support programs, which have substantially Stimulated the development of this field in recent years, is shown, and strategic documents, which should favour its wider use as a low-emission local energy source, are mentioned.

    Odporność społeczna (social resilience) cieszy się coraz większym zainteresowaniem badaczy, ponieważ pozwala przygotować społeczeństwo do wielu, różnego rodzaju sytuacji kryzysowych. Począwszy od zagrożeń ekologicznych i katastrof naturalnych poprzez zagrożenia ekonomiczne i zdrowotne, aż po zagrożenia występujące w trakcie konfliktu zbrojnego. Niestety pojęcie odporności społecznej (OS) wciąż pozostaje niejednorodne, a jego definicje nie zawsze są spójne z intencjami twórców koncepcji OS. Celem artykułu jest przegląd obecnych w literaturze definicji oraz wskazanie w jaki sposób współcześnie publikujący badacze definiują OS. Środkiem do realizacji jest przegląd definicji OS z ostatnich pięciu lat (2019-2023), z czasopism zindeksowanych w bazie Scopus. Przegląd ten pozwala pokazać ewolucję pojęcia OS, która jest efektem doświadczeń pandemii COVID-19, problemów migracyjnych oraz napaści zbrojnej Rosji na Ukrainę.
    Social resilience is gaining increasing interest among researchers as it helps pre-pare society for various types of crisis situations. Starting from ecological threats and natural dis-asters to economic and health threats, and up to threats occurring during armed conflict. Unfortu-nately, the concept of social resilience remains heterogeneous, and its definitions are not always consistent with the intentions of the creators of this concept. The aim of the article is to review the current definitions in the literature and to indicate how contemporary researchers define social resilience. The means to achieve this goal is to review definitions of social resilience over the past five years (2019-2023) from journals indexed in the Scopus database. This review helps to show the evolution of the concept of social resilience, which is the result of the experiences of the COVID-19 pandemic, migration problems and Russia’s armed assault on Ukraine.

    In the presented study, the thesis is put forward that education belongs to the neglected issues which hardly ever appear (and only contextually) in expert literature on special pedagogy, especially in the field of integrated and inclusive education. The article consists of three parts. In the first part, there has been presented an analysis of the rank of education in special pedagogy as well as the goals and principles formulated on its ground. The second part comprises three analyses aiming at the verification of the formulated thesis. The first analysis contains an overview of currently accessible (on the Internet) titles of books qualified to the special pedagogy section; the second one is an overview of chapter titles (on integrated and inclusive education) of 14 collective works published in the years 2000–2013 as conference proceedings; the third one presents the results of three discussion panels consisting of teachers from integrated schools. All the three analyses were directed towards identifying the presence of the category of education. The third part of the text comprises the final conclusions.
    W artykule stawiam tezę, że wychowanie należy obecnie do zagadnień zaniechanych, niepojawiających się wcale lub co najwyżej kontekstowo w opracowaniach z zakresu pedagogiki specjalnej, szczególnie w obszarze edukacji integracyjnej i inkluzyjnej. Artykuł składa się z trzech części. W pierwszej została przedstawiona analiza miejsca wychowania w przedmiocie pedagogiki specjalnej, celach oraz zasadach formułowanych na jej gruncie. W drugiej przedstawiono trzy analizy służące weryfikacji sformułowanej tezy. Pierwsza – obejmuje przegląd aktualnie dostępnych w witrynach internetowych opracowań zwartych, zakwalifikowanych do działu pedagogika specjalna. Druga – to przegląd tytułów rozdziałów (poświęconych edukacji integracyjnej i inkluzyjnej) czternastu prac zbiorowych, pokonferencyjnych, opublikowanych w latach 2000–2013, w trzeciej zostały przedstawione wyniki trzech dyskusji grupowych nauczycieli szkół integracyjnych. Wszystkie trzy analizy ukierunkowane zostały na zidentyfikowanie obecności kategorii wychowania. Trzecia część opracowania zawiera konkluzje końcowe.

Przegląd obejmuje krótką charakterystykę 20 polskich tuneli drogowych oraz opis stosowanych w Polsce technologii budowy tuneli.
    The article provides an overview of road tunnels built in Poland since 2003 and planned for construction by the end of 2026. The total length of the Polish road tunnels covered by the review is about 30 km, of which only 20% is already in operation, 34% is under construction and as much as 46% is only planned. The scope of the review was limited to tunnel technology and related design solutions. The review includes a brief description of 20 Polish road tunnels and a description of the tunnel construction technologies used in Poland.

    Celem artykułu jest przedstawienie i ocena prowadzonych za pomocą metody Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) i indeksu Malmquista badań dotyczących polskich placówek oświatowych. Wykorzystano systematyczny i krytyczny przegląd literatury przedmiotu do zobrazowania postępu badań nad edukacją podstawową i ponadpodstawową. Badania zostały przeanalizowane ze względu na różne kryteria, biorąc pod uwagę: 1) metodę DEA i indeksu Malmquista, 2) grupy i poziom analizy systemu oświatowego, 3) źródła danych i zmienne przyjęte do badania. Wyniki przeglądu pokazują, że choć badań dotyczących polskiego szkolnictwa oświatowego jest niewiele w porównaniu z analizami szkolnictwa wyższego, to są one stosunkowo bardziej zróżnicowane niż badania uczelni. Wcześniej jednak nie dokonano przeglądu badań dotyczących wykorzystania metody DEA i indeksu Malmquista w zakresie analizy systemu oświaty w Polsce, dlatego niniejszy artykuł wypełnił znalezioną lukę badawczą. Ponadto, wskazano w nim niezagospodarowane obszary oraz źródła danych i modele wykorzystywane w dotychczasowych badaniach, co powinno ukierunkować przyszłych badaczy zajmujących się analizą systemu oświaty na dalszy rozwój i rozszerzenie prowadzonych badań.
    This research aims to present and evaluate research conducted using Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) and the Malmquist index on Polish educational institutions. A systematic and critical review of the literature on the subject was used to illustrate the progress of research on primary and secondary education. The studies were analysed for various criteria, considering 1) DEA and Malmquist index models, 2) groups and level of analysis of the educational system, and 3) data sources and variables adopted for the study. The review results show that while there is little research on Polish educational education compared to the analysis of higher education, it is relatively more diverse than universities. Given that there has previously been no review of studies on the use of the DEA method and the Malmquist index for analysing the educational system in Poland, this article has filled the gap. In addition, undeveloped areas have been identified, as well as data sources and models used in previous research, which should guide future researchers involved in educational system analysis to develop further and expand their research.

    Wybrano dwa przykłady, które można uznać za znaczące, w których zagadnienie domu było i jest protagonistą w budowie XX-wiecznego miasta. Petite Maison Le Corbusiera, najskromniejszy z jego domów, lecz najbardziej podziwiany i najmocniej przez niego przeprojektowywany, oraz dom w parku Ignazio Gardelli, który był i nadal jest traktowany przez wielu twórców jako ważne odniesienie w kształtowaniu miejskiej architektury. Są to moim zdaniem przykłady ubogie w spójności, w porównaniu z mnogością estetyczną konstrukcji tych ostatnich kilku dekad. Ale to właśnie współczesne warunki powinny nas doprowadzić do zobaczenia, począwszy od prac takich jak te, możliwości badawczych dla innego projektu i podejścia o innej wrażliwości, które mogą sprostać współczesnej rzeczywistości.
    I show only two relevant examples I hope will be meaningful, in which the theme of the residence was and is protagonist in the building of the twentieth century city. Le Corbusier’s Petite Maison, the most modest of its houses, but I think the most loved and the most redesigned by the author, and Gardella’s House in the Park, which has been and still for many of us is a valid reference in building urban architecture, are two examples I would say almost poor in their consistency, if compared to the plethora of aesthetic construction of these last few decades. But it is the contemporary condition that should lead us to see, starting from works like these, the research opportunities for a different project and a different sensitivity approach, that can deal with the contemporary reality of the places.

    W artykule przedstawiono rys historyczny oraz dokonano krótkiego wprowadzenia do amerykańskich przepisów ASME BPVC, dotyczących spawanych kotłów i zbiorników ciśnieniowych oraz urządzeń jądrowych. Na podstawie przepisów ASME Sec. VIII Div. 1 przedstawiono metodykę projektowania spawanego dwupłaszczowego zbiornika ciśnieniowego (autoklawu). Ze względu na brak metody obliczeniowej (obliczanie na podstawie wzorów) kompletnego zbiornika ciśnieniowego wg ASME Sec. VIII, Div. 1, obliczenia wykonano metodą numeryczną wg ASME Sec. VIII, Div. 2 Part 5 w oparciu o Code Case 2695, na podstawie przepisów Sec. VIII Div. 1, Introduction U-2 (g). Wyniki obliczeń zestawiono w tabelach i na rysunkach oraz zobrazowano grafiką wygenerowaną numerycznie.
    Historical background and a brief introduction to the American regulations ASME BPVC on welded boilers and pressure vessels, and nuclear devices are presented in this paper. In addition, under the provisions of the ASME Sec. VIII Div. 1, a methodology for the design of two-sheath welded pressure vessel (autoclave) is described. Due to the lack of computational method (calculation based on formulas) the complete pressure vessel according to ASME Sec. VIII, Div. 1, numerical calculations were performed according to ASME Sec. VIII, Div. 2 Part 5, pursuant to the provisions Sec. VIII Div. 1, Introduction U-2 (g). The results of the calculations are presented in tables and graphs as well as visualized by graphics generated numerically.

    We chronicle the research on the fusion technology of neural networks and fuzzy systems (NN+FS), the models that have been proposed from this research, and the commercial products and industrial systems that have adopted these models. First, we review the NN+FS research activity during the early stages of their development in Japan, the US, and Europe. Next, following the classifi- cation of NN+FS models, we show the ease of fusing these technologies based on the similarities of the data flow network structures and the non-linearity realization strategies of NNs and FSs. Then, we describe several models and applications of NN+FS. Finally, we introduce some important and recently developed NN+FS patents.

    W artykule przedstawiono ogólny zarys i problematykę związaną z wykorzystaniem programów komputerowych w zakresie analizy i prognozowania wybranych zagrożeń. Dokonano przeglądu oprogramowania i jego możliwości wykorzystania w świetle polskiego prawa. Szczególną uwagę skupiono na dwupoziomowej formule przepisów, która w przyszłości umożliwiać będzie projektowanie obiektów budowlanych w oparciu o metody obliczeniowe. Opisano obszary, w których obecnie wykorzystuje się programy komputerowe w celu oszacowania bezpieczeństwa. Ponadto, autorzy omawiają podstawowe wymagania, jakie powinny spełniać programy do modelowania wybranego zagrożenia. W artykule przedstawiono możliwości programów komputerowych z zakresu modelowania rozwoju pożaru, modelowania zachowania się konstrukcji w czasie pożaru oraz modelowania skutków awarii przemysłowych. Dla każdej z wymienionych dziedzin przygotowano przegląd oprogramowania wraz ze spisem podstawowych funkcji. Zaproponowano wymagania dotyczące formy wprowadzania danych wejściowych oraz formy prezentacji danych wyjściowych. Wszystkie informacje zaprezentowano w formie tabel porównujących możliwości wybranych programów.
    The article describes general outline and main problems connected with using computer programs for analysis and forecasting of selected threats. An overview of the software and its possibility to apply in the light of Polish law was presented. Particular attention is focused on the two-tier formula regulations, which in the future will allow to design buildings based on computational methods. The areas in which computer programs are used to assess safety are shown. In addition, the authors discuss the basic requirements to be met by the selected software. The article discusses the possibilities of software development in the field of fire modeling, modeling behavior of the structure during the fire, and modeling the effects of industrial accidents. For each of these areas overview of the software, together with a list of basic functions was prepared. Proposed requirements for input data entry form and presentation of the output were also discussed. All information is presented in the form of tables comparing the capabilities of selected programs.

    The article discusses the translation of Polish children’s and young adult literature into Slovenian from the beginning to the present day. The first part includes a statistical overview of all Slovenian translations of Polish works for children and young adults published in book form between 1912 and 2020. The overview provides information on the dynamics of translations, the most translated authors and works, and the most prominent translators. The second part focuses on the young adult bestseller W pustyni i w puszczy [In Desert and Wilderness] by Henryk Sienkiewicz, which is the most popular Polish work for young readers in Slovenia. The discussion of the Polish original is followed by a translatological analysis of the Slovenian editions and a presentation of their reception. Both parts of the article deal with a topic that has not been studied in detail so far and fill an important gap in the research on Slovenian-Polish contacts.

    The paper is a continuation of the article at the same main title, where the Part I had a subtitle “Drum and agitator meat tumbling machines”. In this article – Part II, loading and unloading systems were described. The analysis of construction solutions was conducted and useful functionality was estimated on the basis of catalogs’ and websites’ overview of machine producers.

    A detailed analysis of the upper Viséan, Serpukhovian and Bashkirian Rugosa of the Donets Basin confirms their Mississippian/Pennsylvanian turnover during the Eumorphoceras / Homalophyllites-Hudsonoceras Zone, as postulated earlier (Fedorowski 1981a). The deterioration of rugose corals, globally diverse in time and space in the late Viséan and Serpukhovian, has resulted in the patchy distribution of survivors and newcomers, present in the Bashkirian. Difficulties in inter-basinal communication and the isolation of some sites have resulted in a different content of Bashkirian Rugosa in particular patches, with only rare genera in common. New data has made it possible to document the appearance of the first late Carboniferous genera in the Donets Basin as early as the lower Voznessenkian Horizon (= lower Chokierian Substage), i.e., close to the beginning of the Bashkirian Stage. The two stages of diversification, established in the Bashkirian rugose corals of the Donets Basin, cannot find their counterparts elsewhere. A palaeogeographic overview of the most important sites of diversified rugose corals documents the need to re-examine many taxa, which should be based on complete specimen studies. This and the precise placement of taxa in the modern stratigraphy must be done in order to make rugose corals globally comparable. Simple repetitions of names, commonly used in general summaries, is strongly misleading in both stratigraphic and palaeogeographic reconstructions.

It starts with a historical overview of stock exchange in Europe, with a particular emphasis on the one in Frankfurt am Main. The main objective of the article, however, is to present the key stock market terms. After characterising the terms from the stock exchanges in Paris and the United States, the author discusses lexis from the online version of the German stock-market daily newspaper, BörsenZeitung. The data comes from the first half of 2013. Thirty terms with the highest frequency have been selected and analysed.

    Diagnostyka techniczna, a pod tym pojęciem rozumiemy diagnostykę maszyn i urządzeń, jako nauka zaczęła się zwolna wyłaniać w latach siedemdziesiątych. Wpierw w dziedzinie tej panowały normy drganiowe typu ISO 1940, lub nawet ustalenia prywatnych firm (IRD Mechanalysis) zajmujących się diagnostyką maszyn. A trzeba dodać, że możliwości badawcze procesów drganiowych, i wiedza o drganiach maszyn nie była wtedy duża. Mierzono amplitudy drgań prędkości, przemieszenia, czy tez przyspieszenia, za pomocą dość prostych przetworników, rejestratorów i analizatorów. Ale stopniowo łącząc tę wiedzę z podstawami dynamiki maszyn i wibroakustyki maszyn modelami i relacjami udało się ze 'sztuki pomiaru i interpretacji', jaką była wtedy diagnostyka, zrobić 'prawie' dyscyplinę wiedzy i umiejętności, niezwykle przydatną w praktyce utrzymania ruchu maszyn. Przyczyniły się do tego znacznie hardwarowe i softwarowe postępy w przetwarzaniu sygnałów i rosnące powiązanie tej wiedzy szczegółowej z dynamiką i eksploatacja maszyn, ze sposobem ich zużywania się i wyłaniającymi się zwolna modelami diagnostycznymi, technologiami informatycznymi i sztuczną inteligencją. W chwili obecnej metody i środki diagnostyki technicznej, zwłaszcza wibroakustycznej, znalazły zastosowanie we wszystkich fazach życia obiektów, od projektowania przez wytwarzanie, eksploatację, aż do reużytkowania. W pracy będą scharakteryzowane głownie sposoby rozumowania i osiągnięcia diagnostyki, a w sposób zwarty najlepiej to ilustruje załączona w podsumowaniu mapka myślowa.
    The beginning of machine condition monitoring (MCM) starts in a half of a previous century, mainly as a help in critical machines maintenance. At that time, the knowledge on machine acoustic noise and vibration was not large, mainly due to small possibilities in measuring and analysis of these processes. Hence it was based mainly on application of some vibration standards like ISO 1940, and the guidelines of some consulting firms like IRD Mechanalysis. The accumulation of knowledge on vibrational behavior of machines and improvements in measuring and analysis of vibration signals, mainly due to introduction of digital signal processing and analysis, has made substantial increase in machine fault detection and condition forecasting. Moreover vibration condition monitoring of the machines is now applied not only to the running machines, but in all phases of machine life, in the design, manufacturing, the usage, and recycling. We can measure, process and use for these purposes several vibration processes simultaneously, enabling the precise fault detection assessment and forecasting of residual life of the machine, sometimes far away from the machines, like in case of large wind turbines and farms.

    Anthropology as a science provides basic knowledge on interpopulation, interspecies, intrapopulation, dimorphic and ontogenetic variability. The paper presents the notion of health and illness from the historical perspective (from the Palaeolithic through Ancient Greece and Rome to contemporary times). The author describes mutual theoretical and practical relations of anthropology with health, and indicates health measures used to evaluate the health status of a population (both positive and negative). In promoting health by doctors, PE teachers and valeologists, he emphasizes indispensable knowledge regarding such notions as a norm of reaction, adaptive norm, adaptability, adjustment (including health, vigour of life, extensivity) or homeostasis and homeorhesis.
    Antropologia jako nauka, daje podstawy wiedzy o zmienności międzypopulacyjnej, wewnątrzgatunkowej, wewnątrzpopulacyjnej, dymorficznej, ontogenetycznej. W pracy zaprezentowano pojęcia zdrowia i choroby w perspektywie historycznej (od paleolitu przez starożytną Grecję i Rzym do czasów współczesnych). Autor opisuje wzajemne związki teoretyczne i praktyczne antropologii ze zdrowiem, wskazuje na mierniki zdrowia służące do oceny stanu zdrowia populacji (zarówno pozytywne oraz negatywne). W promowaniu zdrowia przez lekarzy, nauczycieli wychowania fizycznego, waleologów, podkreśla niezbędną wiedzę dotyczącą pojęć normy reakcji, normy adaptacyjnej, adaptabilności, adjustacji (w tym kondycji, wigoru życiowego, eksensytywności), czy homeostazy i homeorezy.

    Writing an academic history of Polish art was an urgent task of art historians after World War I, when the country regained its political independence. An important and creditable achievement in that respect was a study by Michał Walicki and Juliusz Starzyński, published in 1934 as a kind of supplement to the monumental Geschichte der Kunst von der altchristlichen Zeit bis zur Gegenwart by the Marburg historian Richard Hamann, translated at that time into Polish. In 1936, the work of the Polish scholars was published again in the form of a separate book. The paper focuses on three problems that were addressed in it: the cultural and artistic ties of Poland to the West, the vernacular features of Polish art, and the presence of the “Eastern art” in Polish artistic heritage. The author examines also the question whether those issues were related to the political, social, and cultural reality of the Second Polish Republic.

    The purpose of the following article is presenting both the overview of the process of shaping the diplomatic language in the European culture: from Latin through the French language to English, as well as the factors influencing the domination of the above-mentioned languages in international relations against historical background. The author presents examples of the twofold influence the French language has exerted upon the English language of diplomacy. The former concerns French impact on the linguistic technicalities: names of diplomatic titles and functions, diplomatic precedence as well as the names and structure of the official diplomatic correspondence, annual reports in particular. The latter influence of French upon the English diplomatic language deals with: first, its syntactic features typical of the Roman languages such as multiple compound sentences, transferred negation, frequent use of adverbials: Subuncts and Disjuncts, secondly, the vocabulary of the English diplomatic language abundant in expressions, phrases and idiomatic elements copied from the French language. Eventually, the author enumerates the most typical features of the diplomatic language.

Przegląd literatury przedmiotu poświęconej percepcji i preferencjom społecznym ujawnił, iż badacze dzielą się na zwolenników dwóch dominujących teorii: biologicznej, wskazującej na ewolucyjny charakter preferencji wobec przestrzeni i jej składowych, oraz kulturowej. Wśród czynników socjodemograficznych wpływających na postrzeganie krajobrazu wymieniane są głównie: znajomość krajobrazu, wiek, wykształcenie, „świadomość” środowiskowa, uwarunkowania kulturowe. Wyniki badań wykazały również, iż odbiorcy za szczególnie atrakcyjne uważają krajobrazy o charakterze naturalnym, aczkolwiek noszące ślady zarządzania, o wysokim stopniu różnorodności elementów przestrzennych i gatunków oraz posiadające umiarkowany lub wysoki stopień złożoności. Badacze podkreślają również istotną rolę elementów przyrodniczych w pozytywnej ocenie krajobrazu.
    Landscape creation is strictly connected with its perception and preferences shown by people. The aim of the article is to present results of the researches on social preferences towards different types of landscape and vegetation. The aim is also to introduce the mechanisms responsible for landscape assessment. The literature overview revealed two domain theories determining social preferences towards landscape: biological, based on evolutionary explanation, and cultural. Landscape familiarity, age, education, environmental awareness, and cross-cultural differences are believed to be main important factors affecting landscape assessment. The research showed the most favorite types of landscape are those of natural character, with some level of management, highly or moderately complexed, and diverse. Vegetation was pointed out as a key factor for affecting positive response to landscape.

    Writing an academic history of Polish art was an urgent task of art historians after World War I, when the country regained its political independence. An important and creditable achievement in that respect was a study by Michał Walicki and Juliusz Starzyński, published in 1934 as a kind of supplement to the monumental Geschichte der Kunst von der altchristlichen Zeit bis zur Gegenwart by the Marburg historian Richard Hamann, translated at that time into Polish. In 1936, the work of the Polish scholars was published again in the form of a separate book. The paper focuses on three problems that were addressed in it: the cultural and artistic ties of Poland to the West, the vernacular features of Polish art, and the presence of the “Eastern art” in Polish artistic heritage. The author examines also the question whether those issues were related to the political, social, and cultural reality of the Second Polish Republic.

    Począwszy od 2013 r., Rada Ministrów zobligowana jest do przeprowadzania przeglądu systemu emerytalnego. W 2016 r. to zadanie zostało powierzone Zakładowi Ubezpieczeń Społecznych, który zorganizował 27 otwartych debat. Najczęściej poruszane zagadnienia dotyczyły m.in. aspektów demograficznych, sytuacji finansowej systemu emerytalnego, zasadności obniżenia wieku emerytalnego oraz wpływu tej reformy na system ubezpieczeń społecznych, rynek pracy i wysokość świadczeń, ocenę funkcjonowania otwartych funduszy emerytalnych, pracowniczych programów emerytalnych, zasadności wprowadzenia instytucji emerytury obywatelskiej oraz edukacji o ubezpieczeniach społecznych. Artykuł stanowi podsumowanie przeglądu systemu emerytalnego.
    Since 2013, the Council of Ministers is obliged to review the pension system. In 2016 this task was entrusted to the Social Insurance Institution, which organized 27 open debates. The most discussed issues concerned, interalia, the demographic aspects, the financial situation of the pension system, the appropriateness of lowering the retirement age and the impact of this reform on the social insurance system, the labor market and benefits, the functioning of open pension funds, occupational pensions, the legitimacy of the institution of civil retirement and the social security education. This article is a summary of these reviews of the pension system.

    An overview of municipal solid waste management (MSWM) in Poland has been presented. The processes of waste generation and composition have been described and a comprehensive review of MSWM in Poland has been provided, covering some of the important aspects of waste management, such as the current status of waste collection, transport and disposal in Poland. An additional aim of the present work was to identify the potential barriers and the factors affecting waste management as well as provide recommendations for system improvement in Poland and other similar developing countries. An analysis shows that the state of municipal solid waste (MSW) management in Poland is not yet as developed as in many other EU countries. Landfilling is still the predominant method used for the disposal of MSW. Composting and incineration are also used but refer only to a small percentage of the total. According to the latest data (31st December 2014), around 84% of MSW was collected and transported and that ca. 53% was disposed of in landfill, ca. 7% was incinerated at waste-to-energy plants, ca. 11% was treated at organic waste recovery plants and 23% was delivered to sorting. The average generation rate of MSW was 293 kg/capita/year. Generally, recycling in Poland is on the increase, especially concerning easily collectable and recyclable materials such as paper, plastics, glass and metals. Around 37% of MSW collected selectively is recycled.

    The article presents the nineteenth-century history of the genre called proverbe dramatique – a transformation from a theatrical form the origins of which lie in the seventeenth-century dinner games to a work of literature. The sketch presents the origins and the development of the genre, its thematic and formal evolution; characteristic features, including in particular syncretism of genres – combining proverbs with, among others, comedy of manners and romantic comedy, comedy of errors and characters, tragicomedy, farce and sketch – characteristic of this period; the place of dramatic proverbs in the works of selected writers, including, in particular, Jan Chęciński and Aleksander Fredro; and the presence of stage proverbs in Polish drama and in the repertoires of the nineteenth-century theatres.

Представлены результаты исследования представлений о правах ребенка в трех группах подростков 10-11, 12-13 и 14-15 лет. Использован экспресс-опросник «Представления о правах ребенка». Показаны различия в представлениях о правах ребенка и возможно использования результатов исследования в создании образовательных программ в области прав человека.
    W artykule przedstawiono podstawowe założenia, dokumenty prawne oraz podejścia badawcze w zakresie problematyki Praw Dziecka, które stanowią bazę do tworzenia programów edukacyjnych. Zaprezentowano wyniki badań Praw Dziecka w percepcji nastolatków trzech grup wiekowych: 10-11, 12-13, 14-15 lat. W badaniach zastosowano kwestionariusz „Wyobrażenia o Prawach Dziecka”. Pokazano różnice w percepcji Praw Dicka w badanych grupach oraz możliwości wykorzystania wyników badań przy tworzeniu programów edukacyjnych w obszarze Praw Człowieka.
    The main thesis of this article is that Child right and Human Rights Education (HRE) leads to a culture of human rights of teenagers. The article describes an experience of empirical research children’s rights overview in 3 groups of teenagers 10-11, 12-13, 14-15. Short review described Worldwide child rights initiatives, researches as well as analysis of the key ideas of human rights education (HRE). We discuss the quantitative and qualitative results of the study with the author’s express questionnaire “The Child Right Overview”. The thesis about how we can involved of research results into child rights educational programs was discussed.

    Turystyka niepełnosprawnych jako forma działalności osób z niepełnosprawnością może być istotnym środkiem terapeutycznym kompensującym stan niepełnosprawności i przyspieszającym proces integracji społecznej. W polskiej literaturze przedmiotu, ukazującej się od lat 70., dominują prace o charakterze ogólnym i przeglądowym. W pracach podejmowane są zwłaszcza badania nad rolą turystyki w życiu niepełnosprawnych, badania wybranych uwarunkowań udziału osób niepełnosprawnych w turystyce, analizy polityki turystycznej, strategii, planów i perspektyw związanych z niepełnosprawnymi. Część prac dotyczy badania społecznych skutków turystyki niepełnosprawnych, a także zagadnień ekonomicznych związanych z marketingiem i usługami turystycznymi. Praca ma charakter przeglądowy (przegląd literatury), dominuje w niej analiza porównawcza literatury. Autor starał się dokonać przeglądu w sposób całościowy obejmując publikacje w języku polskim. W pracy zastosowano metodę analizy i krytyki piśmiennictwa.
    Tourism of handicapped people as a form of activities of impaired persons may be an important therapeutic means compensating the state of handicap and accelerating the process of social integration. In the Polish subject literature, being published since the 1970s, there prevail studies of the general and overview nature. In those studies, there is primarily undertaken research on the role of tourism in the life of the handicapped, surveys of the selected determinants of participation of impaired persons in tourism, analyses of the tourist policy, strategies, plans, and perspectives related to the handicapped. Some of studies concern research of the social effects of tourism of handicapped people as well as the economic issues connected with marketing and tourist services. The study is of the overview nature (overview of literature); there prevails a literature comparative analysis. The author tried to carry out a review in a complex way covering publications in the Polish language. In his study, he applied the method of literature analysis and critical review.
    Туризм инвалидов как форма деятельности инвалидов может быть существенным терапевтическим средством, компенсирующим состояние инвалидности и ускоряющим процесс социальной интеграции. В польской литературе предмета, выходящей в свет с 70-ых годов XIX в., преобладают труды общего и обзорного характера. В трудах в особенности предпринимаются исследования о роли туризма в жизни инвалидов, изучение избранных обусловленностей участия инвалидов в туризме, анализы туристической политики, стра- тегии, планов и перспектив, связанных с инвалидами. Часть трудов касается социальных последствий туризма инвалидов, а также экономических вопросов, связанных с маркетингом и туристическими услугами. Труд имеет обзорный характер (обзор литературы), в нем преобладает сопоставительный анализ литературы. Автор старался провести обзор комплек- сным образом, учитывая публикации на польском языке. В работе применен метод анализа и критики литературы.

    Aby szczegółowo opisać różnice w dyskursie podręcznikowym i dziecięcym, posłużyłam się, stosowanymi na gruncie dociekań kognitywistycznych kategoriami językowego obrazu świata i tekstowego obrazu świata oraz wybranymi podkategoriami: punktu widzenia i perspektywy, typu racjonalności, sposobu kategoryzowania, stereotypowego i aksjologicznego oglądu rzeczywistości. Założyłam, że wybór kategorii i podkategorii nie tylko umożliwi zbadanie narzuconych znaczeń dyskursu podręcznikowego, ale przede wszystkim pozwoli dostrzec sam proces powstawania, wyłaniania się obrazu świata z perspektywy dzieci. Przyjęty model analizy uruchamia refleksję o koniecznych zmianach, demaskuje opresywność języka podręcznikowego, a także zachęca do poszukiwania warunków do inicjowania wypowiedzi dzieci.
    In order to describe in detail the differences between the discourse of a textbook and the discourse of children I used categories – applied in the area of cognitive considerations – concerning the language image of the world and the text image of the world, as well as selected sub-categories: the point of view and perspective, type of rationality, method of categorizing, stereotypical and axiological overview of the reality. I assumed that the choice of categories and subcategories will not only allow to investigate the imposed meanings of the textbook discourse, but – above all – will make it possible to notice the very process of formation, the emergence of the image of the world from the perspective of children. The adopted analysis model launches reflection on the necessary changes, exposes the oppressiveness of the language of the textbook and encourages exploring the conditions to initiate the language of children.
